In the sender-initiated load balancing algorithms, the sender continues to send an unnecessary request message fur load transfer until a receiver is found while the system load is heavy. Meanwhile, in the receiver-initiated load balancing algorithms, the receiver continues to send an unnecessary request message for load acquisition until a sender is found while the system load is light. These unnecessary request messages result in inefficient communications, low CPU utilization, and low system throughput in distributed systems. To solve these problems, in this paper, we propose a genetic algorithm based approach fur improved sender-initiated and receiver-initiated load balancing. The proposed algorithm is used for new adaptive load balancing approach. Compared with the conventional sender-initiated and receiver-initiated load balancing algorithms, the proposed algorithm decreases the response time and increases the acceptance rate.

Various problems such as increase of power loss and voltage instability may often occur in the case of low load power factor. The demand of reactive power increases continuously with the growth of active power and restructuring of electric power companies makes the comprehensive management of reactive power a troublesome problem, so that the systematic control of load power factor is required. In this paper, the load power factor sensitivity of generation cost is derived and it is used for effectively determining the locations of reactive power compensation devices and for enhancing the load power factor appropriately. In addition, voltage variation penalty cost is introduced and integrated costs including voltage variation penalty cost are used for determining the value of load power factor from the point of view of economic investment and voltage regulation. It is shown through application to a large-scale power system that the load power factor can be enhanced effectively using the load power factor sensitivity and the integrated cost.
Oxygen consumption, pulmonary ventilation, heart rate, and breathing frequency were measured on 8 men walking on a treadmill carrying load of 9 kg on hand, back, or head. Besides measurements were made on subjects carrying loads of 2.6 kg each on both feet. The speed of level walking was 4, 5, and 5.5km/hr and a fixed speed off km/hr with grades of 0, 3, 6, and 9%. Comparisons were made between free walking without load and walking with various types of loads. The following results were obtained. 1. In level or uphill walking the changes in oxygen consumption, pulmonary ventilation, breathing frequency and heart rate were smallest in back load walking, and largest in hand load walking. The method of back load was most efficient and hand load was the least efficient. The energy cost in head load walking was smaller than that of in hand load walking. It was assumed that foot load costed more energy than hand load. 2. In level walking the measured parameters increased abruptly at the speed of 5.5 km/hr. Oxygen consumption in a free walking at 4 km/hr was 11.4ml/kg b.wt., and 13.1 ml/kg b.wt. 5.5 km/hr, and in a hand load walking at 4 km/hr was 13.9, and 18.8 ml/kg b. wt. at 5.5 km/hr. 3. In uphill walking oxygen consumption and other parameters increased abruptly at the grade of 6%. Oxygen consumption at 4 km/hr and 0% grade was 11.4 ml/kg b. wt., 13.6 at 6% grade, and 16.21/kg b. wt. at 9% grade in a free walking. In back load walking oxygen consumption at 4km/hr and 0% grade was 12.3 ml/kg b.wt.,14.9 at 6% grade, and 18.7 ml/kg b.wt. In hand load walking the oxygen consumption was the greatest, namely, 13.9 at 0% grade, 17.9 at 6%, and 20.0 ml/kg b. wt. at 9% grade. 4. Both in level and uphill walking the changes in pulmonary ventilation and heart rate paralleled with oxygen consumption. 5. The changes in heart rate and breathing frequency in hand load were characteristic. Both in level and uphill walk breathing frequency increased to 30 per minute when a load was held on hand and showed a small increase as the exercise became severe. In the other method of load carrying the Peak value of breathing frequency was less than 30 Per minute. Heart rate showed 106 beats/minute even at a speed of 4 km/hr when a load was held on hand, whereas, heart rate was between, 53 and 100 beats/minute in the other types of load carriage. 6. Number of strides per minute in level walking increased as the speed increased. At the speed floater than 5 km/hr number of strides per minute of load carrying walk was greater than that of free walking. In uphill walk number of strides per minute decreased as the grade increased. Number of strides in hand load walk was greatest and back load walk showed the same number of strides as the free walk.
This study was intended to develop a load spectrum acting on a transmission of agricultural tractors. Transmission loads were measured at the input shaft of the transmission and final drive shaft of the tractors. The measurement were conducted in five field conditions at two speed levels under plowing operations in Korea. Two torque transducers were developed for the respective load measurements and other necessary instrumentations were made to collect the data and store them in a data logger. The time-histories of the torque loads were analyzed and transformed into the load spectra using the rainflow counting and Smith-Watson-Topper methods. Comparisons of the load spectra developed under different conditions were made to investigate their characteristics. The effects on the load levels of soil and plowing speeds were also investigated. Finally, a load spectrum combining the results of the spectrum analysis was developed and proposed as a load source for the reliability test of transmissions.
This paper presents a new continuation-based quasi-steady-state(CQSS) time-domain simulation algorithm incorporating a multiplicative aggregated load model for power systems. The authors' previous paper introduced a CQSS algorithm, which has the robust convergent characteristic near the singularity point due to the application of a continuation method. The previous CQSS algorithm implemented the load restoration in power systems using the exponent-based load recovery model that is derived from the additive dynamic load model. However, the reformulated exponent-based model causes the inappropriate variation of short-term load characteristics when switching actions occur, during time-domain simulation. This paper depicts how to incorporate a multiplicative load restoration model, which does not have the problem of deforming short-term load characteristics, into the time simulation algorithm, and shows an illustrative example with a 39-bus test system.

In a P2P (Peer-to-Peer) VoD (video-on-Demand) streaming system, the nodes' load is an important factor which affects the system performance. In the system, some nodes may receive too many requests, which leads to overload. On the other hand, some other nodes may receive too few requests, which leads to low utilization. Therefore, designing a reasonable load balancing strategy is important. However, existing related studies cannot handle this problem effectively, because they don't have an efficient dynamic load information management mechanism, and they don't distinguish the difference of requests when transfer the nodes' load. In this paper, to manage the dynamic load information efficiently, we design a load management table for each node. Based on the load information, we propose a load balancing strategy which uses a request migration algorithm (LBRM). Through simulations, our scheme can handle the load imbalance problem effectively and improve the users' playback fluency.
The design of safe and economical structures depends on the reliable live load from load survey. Live load surveys are traditionally conducted by randomly selecting rooms and weighing each item on-site, a method that has problems of low efficiency, high cost, and long cycle time. This paper proposes a deep learning-based method combined with Internet big data to perform live load surveys. The proposed survey method utilizes multi-source heterogeneous data, such as images, voice, and product identification, to obtain the live load without weighing each item through object detection, web crawler, and speech recognition. The indoor objects and face detection models are first developed based on fine-tuning the YOLOv3 algorithm to detect target objects and obtain the number of people in a room, respectively. Each detection model is evaluated using the independent testing set. Then web crawler frameworks with keyword and image retrieval are established to extract the weight information of detected objects from Internet big data. The live load in a room is derived by combining the weight and number of items and people. To verify the feasibility of the proposed survey method, a live load survey is carried out for a meeting room. The results show that, compared with the traditional method of sampling and weighing, the proposed method could perform efficient and convenient live load surveys and represents a new load research paradigm.
In the bi-directional pile load test (BD PLT) for pile load test of Mega foundation, loading capacity specification were not specified exactly. Therefore there are so many confusions and variations of maximum 2 times in loading capacity are come out. In this study, specifications of bi-directional pile load test (BD PLT) were considered. Based on cases of the bi-directional pile load test performed in domestic areas, maximum equivalent test load, test load increasing ratio and sufficiency ratio of design load were analyzed. It can be known that the loading capacity specification of bi-directional pile load test must be defined as 1-directional test load that is established as more than 2 times of design load.
The load distribution in a ground anchor is very complex because it involves three different materials(soil, grout, and steel), which sometimes act as composite sections (bonded length) or separately (unbounded length). Therefore it is very hard to understand load transfer mechanism on the anchor. In order to understand the load transfer, it is essential to consider the load distribution In the three different materials. On these purposes, full scale anchor test is planned on the geotechnical site at Sunkyunkwan University Prior to the test, modeling and analyses of the load transfer mechanism were performed on the data from the case histories.
In this study, static pile load tests with load transfer measurement for a pile socketed into weathered rocks were performed. Axial load transfers during static pile load test were measured and analyzed. Three large diameter piles socketed into weathered rock were behavior behaved as friction pile.
