INTRODUCTION OF NUC ALGORITHM IN ON-BOARD RELATIVE RADIOMERIC CALIBRATION OF KOMPSAT-2

  • The KOMPSAT-2 satellite is a push-broom system with MSC (Multi Spectral Camera) which contains a panchromatic band and four multi-spectral bands covering the spectral range from 450nm to 900nm. The PAN band is composed of six CCD array with 2528 pixels. And the MS band has one CCD array with 3792 pixels. Raw imagery generated from a push-broom sensor contains vertical streaks caused by variability in detector response, variability in lens falloff, pixel area, output amplifiers and especially electrical gain and offset. Relative radiometric calibration is necessary to account for the detector-to-detector non-uniformity in this raw imagery. Non-uniformity correction (NUC) is that the process of performing on-board relative correction of gain and offset for each pixel to improve data compressibility and to reduce banding and streaking from aggregation or re-sampling in the imagery. A relative gain and offset are calculated for each detector using scenes from uniform target area such as a large desert, forest, sea. In the NUC of KOMPSAT-2, The NUC table for each pixel are divided as HF NUC (high frequency NUC) and LF NUC (low frequency NUC) to apply to few restricted facts in the operating system ofKOMPSAT-2. This work presents the algorithm and process of NUC table generation and shows the imagery to compare with and without calibration.

장거리 레이저 거리측정기 및 레이저 표적지시기 성능 평가를 위한 모사기 구현 (Implementation of the Simulator for Evaluating a Long-range Laser Range Finder and a Laser Target Designator)

  • In this paper, we propose a signal processing board of an optical delay simulator for evaluating a long-range laser range finder and a laser target designator. We improved the accuracy by applying the clock multiplication and the correction of error gradient. To evaluate the performance of the proposed method, we implemented a prototype board and performed experiments. As a result, we implemented the optical delay simulator with resolution less than 0.7m in measuring distance 60km and a standard deviation of 0.041m. The PRF code detection logic and generation logic have a stability less than 0.03% and 0.08% compared to the NATO standard, respectively.

Implementation of Non-Contact Gesture Recognition System Using Proximity-based Sensors

  • In this paper, we propose the non-contact gesture recognition system and algorithm using proximity-based sensors. The system uses four IR receiving photodiode embedded on a single chip and an IR LED for small area. The goal of this paper is to use the proposed algorithm to solve the problem associated with bringing the four IR receivers close to each other and to implement a gesture sensor capable of recognizing eight directional gestures from a distance of 10cm and above. The proposed system was implemented on a FPGA board using Verilog HDL with Android host board. As a result of the implementation, a 2-D swipe gesture of fingers and palms of 3cm and 15cm width was recognized, and a recognition rate of more than 97% was achieved under various conditions. The proposed system is a low-power and non-contact HMI system that recognizes a simple but accurate motion. It can be used as an auxiliary interface to use simple functions such as calls, music, and games for portable devices using batteries.

다기능 케이블을 위한 연성 회로 기판에 내장된 공통 모드 필터 (Common Mode Filter Embedded in Flexible Printed Circuit Board for Multi-Function Cable)

  • 본 논문에서는 FPC(Flexible Printed Circuit) 케이블에 적층된 나선형 인덕터를 내장하여 다기능 케이블을 위한 공통 모드 필터를 제안하였다. 공통 모드 필터가 내장된 FPC 케이블은 별도의 SMD(Surface Mounted Device) 필터 없이 연성 케이블과 공통 모드 차단 특성을 가짐으로서, 다기능 케이블이라는 새로운 개념을 제시한다. 내장된 공통 모드 필터는 광대역의 공통 모드 차단 대역을 가지고 손실이 큰 페라이트와 같은 자성 물질을 사용하지 않아 차동 모드 삽입 손실 및 반사 손실이 향상되었다. 3-turn 인덕터를 가진 공통 모드 필터는 공통 모드차단 대역이 $0.4{\sim}3.12GHz$이며, 페라이트를 적용한 상용 LTCC(Low Temperature Co-fire Ceramic) 공통 모드 필터에 비해 3 GHz에서 1.95 dB, 8 GHz에서 6.97 dB의 향상된 차동 모드 삽입 손실을 갖는다.

  • This paper describes the design and fabrication of a partial discharge(PD) analyzer to evaluate insulation performance for low-voltage electrical and electronic devices. The analyzer consists of an adjustable AC power supply, a coupling network, an amplifier, a shielding encloser, a sample-hold (S/H) circuit and a data acquisition (DAQ) board. The analyzer holds the height of PD pulse for $10{\mu}s$ by the S/H circuit, and this makes possible to measure PD pulses having fast rise and short duration by a low speed analog-to-digital (A/D) converter. The data are transmitted to the personal computer through the DAQ board, and the designed analysis program calculate apparent charges, discharge inception and extinction voltages.

  • 대부분의 증강현실은 컴퓨터로 구현하는 3차원, 혹은 그래픽이나 영상을 통한 가상공간을 의미한다. 증강현실은 참여자를 가상현실에 몰입시키고 가상현실 세계를 변화시키는 과정으로 진행된다. 특히, 아동 게임분야는 증강현실 기술적 특성과 잘 부합하여 아동들에게 더욱 흥미와 창의성을 유발할 수 있는 분야로 지목된다. 본 연구에서는 아동게임 학습효과를 극대화하기 위해 보드게임의 효과와 증강현실기술의 특성에 대해 살펴보고 아동교육프로그램의 새로운 모델 제안을 제시하고자 한다.

도마운동 유리첸코 몸 펴 공중돌기 동작의 운동학적 분석 (Kinematical analysis of Yurchenko Streched at Horse Vaulting)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effective skill motion through the kinematic analysis of the Yurchenko Streched motion in new horse vaulting. The subjects in this study were 3 male gymnasts who were ranked as national athletes. After the 3D motion analysis, kinematic variables were analyzed to comparison with the difference between this study and the previous study(Yang, D. Y and Lee, C. S, 1999). As a result, the following conclusions was drawn; 1. In the board contact phase, this study showed a shorten contact time to maintain in condition highly extension of hip and hee angle than the previous study. 2. In the pre-flight phase, this study appeared more shortly flight duration time and horizontal flight displacement than the previous study. 3. In the horse contact phase, the contact duration time and horizontal displacement of COG shortened than the previous study, but appeared to the fast horizontal and vertical velocity and highly extension of shoulder an. 4. In the post-flight phase, a stable horse contact appeared to the increase of the flight duration time and the apex height during the post-flight. And it showed that these results have a stable and good landing.

교육용 로보트의 제어기 개발 및 퍼지 알고리즘의 구현 (Development of a Controller for an Educational Robot and Implementation of a Fuzzy Algorithm)

  • In this paper, we develop a control system of an Educational Robot and implement a fuzzy algorithm for the position control. The MA2000 robot manufactured by TecQuipment Co. is the controlled system and 3 axes(waist, shoulder, elbow) of total 6 axes are controlled by the fuzzy logic-based algorithm. The control system consists of an IBM PC, an interface board capable of A/D conversion and PWM generation, and a drive board for dc motors in joints of the robot. The experiments show that the modified fuzzy algorithm yields a better performance in steady-stale than that of the conventional fuzzy algorithm.

이사회 및 이사의 특성이 기업의 연구개발투자에 미치는 영향: 한국기업을 중심으로 (The Effects of Boards' and Directors' Characteristics on R&D Investment: In the Korean Context)

  • 본 연구는 기업의 이사회 구조 및 이사의 특성이 연구개발투자에 미치는 영향을 파악하는데 목적을 두고 있다. 95개 한국 상장기업을 대상으로 실증 분석한 결과, 이사의 인구통계학적 특성이 기업의 연구개발투자에 유의미한 영향을 주는 것으로 나타나, 이사회 내 이사의 평균연령이 낮고 과학 공학 전공자와 해외학위 소지자가 많은 경우 기업의 연구 개발투자가 활발히 발생함을 알 수 있었다. 특히 이러한 영향은 사외이사 보다는 사내이사에서 더욱 크게 발생하여 사내이사를 중심으로 이루어지는 한국의 이사회 운영을 짐작하게 하였다. 또한 이사회 힘의 강화는 전체 이사의 인구통계학적 특성이 연구개발투자에 미치는 영향력을 전반적으로 강화해주기 보다는, 사내이사의 인구통계학적 특성이 미치는 영향을 약화시키는 것으로 나타났다.

A Framework for Cognitive Agents

  • We designed a family of completely autonomous mobile robots with local intelligence. Each robot has a number of on-board sensors, including vision, and does not rely on global positioning systems The on-board embedded controller is sufficient to analyze several low-resolution color images per second. This enables our robots to perform several complex tasks such as navigation, map generation, or providing intelligent group behavior. Not being limited to playing the game of soccer and being completely autonomous, we are also looking at a number of other interesting scenarios. The robots can communicate with each other, e.g. for exchanging positions, information about objects or just the local states they are currently in (e.g. sharing their current objectives with other robots in the group). We are particularly interested in the differences between a behavior-based approach versus a traditional control algorithm at this still very low level of action.
