This study was performed to evaluate relationship between health behaviors of local residents and stomach cancer incidence. Case-control study was carried out on 91 cases matched for age and sex with 91 controls in a general hospital in Seoul. It was surveyed using questionnaires and interview from December 20, 2008 to January 30, 2009. Major findings are as follows. First, significant negative association was observed in recreational activity ; OR for active group was 0.23, 0.41 relative to the inactive group. Secondly alcohol consumption was a significant risk factor; relative to non-drinker for drinker of more than 30 years(OR=5.17 95% Cl=1.78-19.95). Thirdly, Eating broiled food showed a positive significant association with risk for stomach cancer(OR=3.79 95% Cl=1.61-9.84) for consumption of three times more per week. As a result of multiple logistic regression analysis, income, BMI 10 years ago, recreational activity, alcohol consumption, eating broiled and salt food were associated with stomach cancer. In conclusion, the correlation of stomach cancer incidence can be found in recreational activity, alcohol consumption, eating broiled and salt food, income, and BMI 10 years ago.

This study examined the health status and relative factors of 468 people of the latter stage of more than 75-year-old in 2011 the Korean National Health and Nutritional Examination Survey. The subjective health status were influenced significantly by sex(OR=0.456, 95%CI=0.257-0.805), occupation(OR=1.437, 95%CI=0.963-2.149), spouse(OR=0.673, 95%CI=0.443 -1.022), degree of stress(OR=0.476, 95% CI=0.309-0.730), depression(OR=0.410, 95% CI=0.238-0.704), subjective oral status(OR=1.874, 95% CI=1.332-2.643), smoking(OR=0.738, 95% CI= 0.523-1.039), drinking(OR=1.251, 95% CI=1.017-1.540), and waking practice(OR=1.698, 95% CI=1.188 -2.431). The results suggest that health education of active participations and publicity policies should be established and help improve the subjective health status in the latter stage of a 75-year-old.

Coronary artery calcium scores(CACS) has been used as surrogate marker for coronary atherosclerosis. We evaluated 1042 patients who visited the Department of Health Promotion Center in Chonnam National University Hospital and had a test of the CACS from January 2006, to December 2008. This study was performed to evaluate the relation of the CACS with Cadiovascular disease(CVD) risk factors and FRS. CACS and FRS was a significant difference between the group whose calcium score was 0 and the group whose calcium scores were 1 in case of men 2.38(95% CI, 1.83-3.11), women 2.12(95% CI, 1.03-4.35). The age-and sex-adjusted odds ratios for predictor of CVD risk factors to women with age was 1.10(95% CI, 1.06-1.15), HDL-cholesterol was 2.38(95% CI, 1.04-5.44), Fasting plasma glucose was 2.89(95% CI, 1.16-7.21), to men with age was 1.11(95% CI, 1.08-1.14), LDL-cholesterol was 2.12(95% CI, 1.28-3.50), gamma-GTP was 1.73(95% CI, 1.17-2.55), Diabetes mellitus medication was 3.92(95% CI, 1.73-8.89). The CACS seems to be a siginificant factor to evaluate the CVD risk factors.

Background; The aim of this study is to evaluate our clinical experience with the Carbomedics heart valve prosthesis. Material and Method; Between Aug. 1988 and Dec. 1998, 294 Carbomidics valves were implanted in 235 patients(mitral; 143, mitral and aortic; 59, aortic; 33) The mean age at operation is 40.0$\pm$12.3 years(range 7 to 68 years); 63.8% (150patients) were woman. Follow up was 97.4% complete and mean follow up time was 5.7years with a total of 1209.2 patient-years. Result; The hospital mortality was 8.9%(mitral; was 95.2$\pm$1.6%(mitral ; 94.9$\pm$2.1%, mitral and aortic 95.0$\pm$3.7%, aortic 96.2$\pm$3.8%). Actual freedom rates from complications(linearized rates in parentheses) were fllowings; thromboembolism 96.2$\pm$1.5%(0.59%pt-yr), valve thrombosis 96.7$\pm$1.4%(0.5%/pt/yr), anticoagulant related hemorrhage 98.3$\pm$1.0%(0.25%/pt-yr), perivalvular leak 99.0$\pm$1.4%(0.5%/pt-yr), endocarditis 98.7$\pm$1.0%(0.25%/pt-yr), perivalvular leak 99.0$\pm$0.7%(0.17%pt-yr), endocarditis 98.7$\pm$1.0%(0.17%$\pm$pt-yr) and overall valve-related complications 88.9$\pm$2.5%(1.68%/pt-yr). Conclusion; The clinical performance of the Carbomedics valve was quite satisfactory with a low incidence of valve related mortality and morbidity.
