  • The objective of study is to evaluate highway capaicty estimation alternative and to develop capacity from statistical distribution of observed traffic flow. Speed-Volume relation is analyzed from vehicle's headway distribution eliminating the long headway by confidence intervals 99%, 95%, 90%. Capacity estimate alternatives were evaluated from 95% , 90%, 85% level of cummulative distribution of observed hourly traffic flow adjusted to confidence intervals. The result of investigation revealed that maximum hourly rate of flow is 2, 130pcu at confidence interval of 995, 2, 233pcu at 95%, 2, 315pcu at 90% respectively. Compared to the capacity of 2, 200pcu per hour per lane used in HCM and KHCM(Korea Highway Capacity Manual), capa챠y appears to correspond to confidence interval of 95%. Using the traffic flow rate at confidence interval of 95% the maximum hourly flow rate is 2, 187pcu at 95% of cummulative volume distribution, 2, 153pcu at 90%, 2, 215pcu at 85%. The study suggests that raional capacity esimation alternative is to take the 95% of cummulative distribution of observed hourly traffic flow at 95% confidence headway interval eliminating 5% long headway.(i.e. 95-95 rule)

  • BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: The relationship between food intake and nutritional status has been clearly established. Yet, there are only limited studies on food intake among family members and their nutritional status. The study examined the relationship between intra-household food distribution and coexistence of dual forms of malnutrition (DFM) in the same household. SUBJECTS/METHODS: Households with a malnourished child and overweight mother were categorized as DFM. Intra-household food distribution among family members was reported using ratios, which are a measure of individual intakes as compared to all household member intakes adjusted to RDA. RESULTS: A1,899 families were included in the study. The prevalence of DFM was 29.8% (95%CI 26.5-31.2). Children consumed lower amounts of energy (OR 1.34; 95%CI 1.06-1.69, P = 0.011), carbohydrates (OR 1.2; 95%CI1.03-1.61, P = 0.022), protein (OR 1.3; 95%CI 1.03-1.64, P = 0.026), and fat (OR 1.3; 95%CI 1.05-1.66, P = 0.016) than their mothers and other family members. In contrast, mothers consumed more carbohydrates than children and other family members (OR1.24; 95%CI 1.02-1.51, P = 0.03). CONCLUSIONS: This study is the first to report on the food distribution among family members and its relationship with occurrence of DFM in Indonesia. The results confirm the occurrence of an unequal food distribution between children and mothers, which increases risk of DFM in the household. The results also demonstrate that nutritional education at the household level is important to increase awareness of the impact of DFM.

  • Multi-server queueing systems with retrials are widely used to model problems in a call center. We present an explicit formula for an approximation of the queue length distribution in a multi-server retrial queue, by using the Lerch transcendent. Accuracy of our approximation is shown in the numerical examples.

  • It is a study for the evaluation of the stability of the distribution automation system for the expansion of renewable energy. Through the Renewable Energy 3020 Implementation Plan, the government plans to expand new renewable energy and convert it to participatory energy that improves the quality of life of the people by 2030. The government has set a target of 20% of domestic supply energy for renewable energy generation by 2030. It is planning to establish more than 95 percent of its new facilities with clean energy such as solar power and wind power. By expanding the supply of renewable energy, new energy businesses and distributed power industry were fostered, and short-distance, low-voltage, and small-scale power generation were rapidly expanded rather than large-scale power development in the past. Due to this demand, the importance of power distribution facility operation has emerged and the need for distribution automation system is increasing. This paper discusses the development of a power distribution simulator for the performance and function evaluation of power distribution automation systems and presents the results of an interlocking test with the power distribution automation system. In order to introduce an advanced system into the power distribution system, it is necessary to take advantage of the transmission and distribution system. The DNP3.0 protocol is used in the distribution system and the IEC61850 protocol is used in the transmission and distribution system. It was concluded that the functions and performance of operations were satisfied when these two protocols are mixed and used in the distribution automation system.

  • In recent years there has been a growing interest in total body irradiation. For refractory leukemia or lymphoma patients, varions techniques and dose regimens were intridused, including high dose total body irradiation for destruction of leukemic or bone marrow cells and immunosupperression prior to bone marrow transplantation. Accurate provision for specified dose and the desired homogeneity are essential before clinical total body irradiatio. When performed in total body irradiation, the problem obtain uniform uniform dose distribution in brain, neck, lung, umbilicus, pelvis and leg. Authors compared to dose distribution with method 1 and method 1. The method 1 used compensationg filters for homogeneous dose distribution(Minesota University Method). The method 2 used fixing frame made in acryl developing authors. Results were following 1. Method 1 was showed dose distribution from 95.6% to 100%, method 2 showed dose distribution from 95.4% to 100% 2. Method 2 was showed different to 3.4% at skin region and midline in the brain. In the neck, showed different to 1.5%. In the umbilicus, showed different to 2.3%.

  • Total Body Irradiation(TBI) is one of the essential treatment modalities in bone marrow transplantation for leukemia and lymphoma. Various techniques and dose regimens were introduced with sevelal advantages and disadvantages. In TBI, lung block could reduce lung dose to 75% of original beam for decreasing lung dose with homogenous total body irradiation. Accurate provision for specified dose and the desired homogeneity are essential before clinical total body irradiation. When performed in total body irradiation, the problem obtain uniform dose distribution in brain, neck, lung, umbilicus, pelvis and leg. Authors compared to dose distribution with method 1 and method 2. The method 1 used compensating filters for homogeneous dose distribution(Minesota University Method). • This study examined the cross-sectional association of central body fat distribution with hypertension as well as the superiority of medial calf skinfold measured as peripheral fat distribution over the conventional triceps skinfold using 450 Korean Navy divers selected by authors' convenience in 1990. Their mean age was 27.9 and range of it was 19-51. The centrally located body fat was approximated by subscapular skinfold and peripherally located fat by triceps and medial calf skinfolds. Four indices were constructed from these skinfold measures to reflect central versus peripheral fat distribution pattern : 2 ratios and 2 differences. After controlling age and overall obesity (body mass index), prevalance odds ratios of the 2/4, 3/4, 4/4 quartiles of subscapular skinfold comparing with lowest 1/4 quartile were 2.05(95% confidence interval, CI 1.18-3.59), 2.02(95% CI 1.06-3.86), 4.00 (95% CI 1.99-8.06) respectively. The difference of subscapular and medial calf skinfolds was associated with hypertension (odds ratio 2.45, 95% CI 1.28-4.68 comparing highest with lowest quartiles). Triceps and medial calf skinfolds alone did not show any odds ratio not including unity. The adjusted odds ratios were generally reduced in small magnitude compared with crude odds ratios not adjusted for age and overall obesity. The medial calf skinfold appeared to be more representative of peripheral body fat distribution than triceps skinfold. These findings suggest that central fat distribution rather than peripheral distribution is associated with hypertension independent of age and overall level of obesity and medial calf skinfold may replace conventional triceps skinfold in predicting peripheral distribution of body fat.
