Meta-analysis of the Interventions for Preventing Falls by the Elderly in the Eight Countries: Comparison Between Aged 70's and 80's (외국의 노인 낙상 예방 프로그램 메타 분석: 70대와 80대 고령자 집단의 비교)

  • The purpose of this research is to meta-analyze on a comparative basis interventions for preventing falls by the elderly in their 70's and 80's in the eight countries. Eleven studies conducted by RCT were found via Medline in Ovid, PsychInfo and Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews. Use of Review Manager shows that interventions in the 70's group are effective (OR=0.65, 95%) but that those in the 80's group are not (OR=1.57, 95%). Furthermore, the effectiveness of the 70's treatment group is not durable. This paper has three policy implications: First, new intervention programmes for preventing falls by the 70's group should be developed toward increasing durability. Second, existing programmes for the 80's group should be amended to enhance effectiveness. Lastly, new programmes that include cognitive-behavioural components should be designed for elderly individuals suffering from mental diseases.

The Formation of Transient Saturation Zone and the Subsurface flow on the Steep Hillslope by Rains (降雨에 의한 急斜面의 일시적인 飽和帶形成과 중간류 流出)

  • On steep hillslopes, saturation zone formations and subsurface flows were monitored through the observation systems of observation wells, tensiometers and trenches. By the 103 mm rain which had fallen on the hillslope with dry soil moisture, the saturation zone began to be formed at the top of hillslope during the rain and developed to be formed within a few hours after the end of rain on all hillslope. Subsurface water outflowed mainly from the soil profile of 0-40 cm depth, but did not outflow from the one of 40-80 cm depth. This saturation zone seemed to be formed by partially saturation of soil. This resulted for two reasons. Firstly, the saturation zone was formed by a smaller amount of rain than that required. Secondly the soil at a certain depth below the water table was unsaturated. Saturation zones formed by pre-rains responded rapidly to rains and subsurface water outflowed mainly from the soil profile of 40-80 cm depth simultaneously with the rising of the water level. The rates of subsurface discharge from the soil profile of 40-80 cm depth to the precipitation were related to the antecedent precipitation although the maximum water levels of saturation zone formed by four rains were similar.

A Study on the Prediction of Mortality Rate after Lung Cancer Diagnosis for Men and Women in 80s, 90s, and 100s Based on Deep Learning (딥러닝 기반 80대·90대·100대 남녀 대상 폐암 진단 후 사망률 예측에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, research on predicting the treatment results of diseases using deep learning technology is also active in the medical community. However, small patient data and specific deep learning algorithms were selected and utilized, and research was conducted to show meaningful results under specific conditions. In this study, in order to generalize the research results, patients were further expanded and subdivided to derive the results of a study predicting mortality after lung cancer diagnosis for men and women in their 80s, 90s, and 100s. Using AutoML, which provides large-scale medical information and various deep learning algorithms from the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service, five algorithms such as Decision Tree, Random Forest, Gradient Boosting, XGBoost, and Logistic Registration were created to predict mortality rates for 84 months after lung cancer diagnosis. As a result of the study, men in their 80s and 90s had a higher mortality prediction rate than women, and women in their 100s had a higher mortality prediction rate than men. And the factor that has the greatest influence on the mortality rate was analyzed as the treatment period.

  • 4차 산업혁명의 확산으로 의학계에서도 딥러닝 기술을 이용한 질병의 치료결과 예측 연구가 활발하다. 이와 관련, 일부 연구에서 국소적인 환자 데이터의 활용으로 인해 도출된 연구 결과의 일반화가 어려웠으며 예측률 제고를 위해 특정 딥러닝 알고리즘을 중심으로 한 실험이 추진되어 다양한 알고리즘별 예측률의 비교·분석 결과를 제시하는 연구도 미흡하였다. 이에, 건강보험심사평가원의 대규모 진료 정보와 다종의 알고리즘을 제공하는 AutoML을 이용, 사망률이 높은 80대·90대 노령자 대상 폐암 진단 후 84개월간의 사망률을 예측하는 Decision Tree 등 5개 알고리즘별 모델을 생성하고 이를 활용, 사망률의 예측 성능을 비교하고 사망률에 영향을 미치는 요인에 대한 분석 결과를 도출하였다.

The Bone Density Level of Korean Men Aged 60 Years and Over, and Its Relevant Factors (60세 이상 노년 한국 남성들의 골밀도 수준 및 관련요인)

  • This study is to analyze femoral necks and lumbar spine bone mineral density in Korean men aged 60 or older 2,736 people, as well as to research in its relation to anthropometry, life style, diet, fracture history, family history of osteoporosis and medical history using data from Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES)(the 2nd(2008) and 3rd(2009) year at the 1st survey, and the 1st(2010) year at the 5th survey). To express the strength of the associations, percent differences were calculated from multiple linear regression models using the formula ${\beta}{\times}$(unit/mesnBMD). Unit for continuous variables were chosen to approximate 1 standard deviation(SD). Prevalence of osteoporosis for 60-69, 70-79 and >80 old men were 6.7%, 15.8% and 31.4% respectively. The proportion of osteoporosis calculated for each age group in the femoral neck group was: 60-69 years old, 2.6%, 70-79years old, 8.2%, >80years old, 24.8%. For the lumbar spine group, the values were: 60-69 years old, 5.5%, 70-79years old, 11.3%, >80years old, 15.4%. In men aged 60 or older, lean mass greatly influenced bone density in the femoral neck and lumbar spine. Thus, to increase the lean mass would be an effective way to prevent osteoporosis in elderly men.

  • First arrival signals of multi-frequency crosswell seismic data, acquired in wells drilled in granitic rock, were analyzed to investigate the characteristic behavior of the signals at the shear zones. Dominant frequencies of the sources were; 10-, 20-, 40-, 56-, and 80 kHz. No obvious changes in the waveform at the shear zones were found; however, at the shear zones, some degree of velocity reductions were observed in the signals of all frequency sources. The 80 kHz signal is slightly faster than 10 kHz signal in the survey region, and the velocity difference between the two signals were found largest at the shear zone where the permeability measured greatest in the survey interval.

  • 본 연구에서는 사이즈코리아에서 2015년 이루어진 제7차 인체치수조사 데이터 중 60대 남성의 치수와 2014년에 이루어진 고령자인체치수조사 데이터의 70대와 80대 남성의 치수를 분석하여 신체적인 노화가 주로 나타나는 연령 구간과 노화에 따른 노년 남성 체형의 변화에 대한 특성을 살펴보고자 하였다. 노년 남성의 경우 대체로 66-68세 사이와 75-77세 사이 그리고 84-85세 사이에 급격한 노화현상이 나타나게 되고 60대와 70대에는 서서히 노화가 진행되다가 대체로 80대에 들어서면서 노화가 심화되어 신체적으로 체형의 변화가 급격히 나타나게 된다. 연령의 증가에 따른 노화의 현상으로 신체의 둘레, 너비, 높이 등에서는 변화가 심화되나 둘레, 너비, 높이에 비해 두께의 경우에는 변화가 크지 않은 것으로 분석되었다. 또, 노년 여성의 경우에는 등이 굽는 현상이 나타났으나 노년 남성의 경우에는 여성과는 반대로 뒤로 젖혀진 체형이 나타나 차이가 발견되었다. 따라서 의복패턴 제작 시 앞중심길이와 등길이 설정에 있어서 노년 여성과는 반대로 등 길이를 짧게 하는 패턴상의 수정이 요구된다.

The effect of the visual impairment on the Island Elder (섬지역 노인의 시력장애 요인 실태조사)

  • In order to investigate the situation of ocular disorders involving visual functions of elder in the Island area, the survey was carried out subjective methods on 228 persons(456 eyes) over the of 60. The analysis of data resulted in as follows : 1. Among the total 456 eyes, the ocular disorders was 54.8%. 2. The causes of ocular disorders with visual impairment ; Senile cataract(44.8%), Pterygium(55.2%) 3. Age distribution of cataract showed the sixties 46.4%, the seventies 37.5% and the eighties($80{\leq}$) 16.1%. 4. As to the distribution corrected visual acuity in cataract ; 0.1 below(8.9%). 0.1~0.3(14.3%), 0.4~0.6(36.6%), 0.7 over(40.2%). 5. Age distribution of pterygium showed the sixties 60.9%, the seventies 26.1% and the eighties($80{\leq}$) 13.0%. 6. As to the distribution corrected visual acuity in pterygium ; 0.1 below(5.l%), 0.1~0.3(5.8%), 0.4~0.6(20.3%), 0.7 over(68.8%).
