This study examines the effects of reading and story sharing through fairy tales on young children's character development in their role play using natural materials. To achieve this, 40 5-year-old children at early childhood educational institutes in Daejeon were tested 16 times for 8 weeks. The results were as follows. First, their role plays using natural objects through reading and talking had a positive effect on their personality cultivation. Second, there was no experimental difference in their prudence and filial piety of basic behavioral items, but their cleanliness and patience were proven effective in the experiment. Third, all their justice, conscience and service indicating their sociality-related friendship, kindness, gentleness and morality were proven effective in the experiment, which their role plays using natural objects through reading and story sharing through fairy tales had an educational effect on improving their sociality and morality through peer interaction. This suggests that their mind to improve social virtues with an exchange of emotions, particularly, treat natural role play in a friendly way, their public promises to cherish life, and their ethical virtues to obey the rules in the process of consideration, appreciation, understanding and help through mutual communication and cooperation in forest experience activities are very effective from an educational perspective.
Korean Students' Physical Fitness Test System, was improved from exercise-related fitness to health-related fitness, it manage the results on the web. This research is one of the practical trial using IT environment for health and fitness improvement, by developing web-based contents. In peer debriefing, 105 contents(health : 6 part 34 contents, exercise : 13 part 71 contents) was designed and realized through analyzing 7th curriculum and 11 domesticinternational contents. The output, have good points, could be used in the class on the web, could be carried out by students in anytime, anywhere. Especially, obese or low fitness children can carry out joyfully. And the contents could be improved on the web. This study is the 1st trial to develop web-based contents, enhancing students' to recognize the importance of health and exercise. If this trial was connected to middle, high school and military, could be contributed in Korean Men's health management. In the future, application study must be carried-out.
Multiplication problems for the 7th curriculum focus on functional realms featuring the memorization and application of the multiplication table, exposing learners only to additive thinking characterized by simple counting and drawing. A diversity of research has yet to be conducted for the transition to multiplicative thinking that highlights the capability to solve problems by using multiplication and division in the expanded number scope like 'prime numbers', 'fractional numbers', and 'ratio/rates' and to describe accurately how they solved. This research was designed to develop and utilize teaching-learning materials for the transition of fifth graders' additive thinking to advanced multiplicative one and to analyze the application results in order to identify validity in material development. The following conclusions were made. First, the development and application of teaching-learning materials for multiplicative thinking cultivation facilitated the transition from additive thinking featuring simple counting and drawing to multiplicative thinking characterized by multiplication and accurate description in a more complicated and expanded number scope. Second, the development of materials featuring 'basic'-'intermediate'-'in-depth' courses by activity enabled learners to benefit from learning by level and expansion in number scope. Third, the use of topics and materials closely connected to daily lives stimulated learners' curiosity, helping them concentrate more on given problems. Fourth, communication between teachers and students or among learners themselves was promoted by continuously encouraging them to explain and by reviewing their documents identifying rules or patterns.

This study is to develop a valid and reliable instrument for measuring students' creative engineering problem solving propensity. The creative engineering problem solving is operationally defined in this study as a creative problem solving skill in an engineering context. To develop the instrument, first we define seven common constructs between engineering problem solving skill and creative problem solving skill through an intensive literature review; motivation, context, personal character, engineering design, engienering habits of mind, understandings of engineering and engineers, communication skill, and collaboration skill. Based on the seven constructs and the face validity test conducted by two in-service science teachers and 4 experts in science education research, 40 preliminary items were developed. Then the preliminary instrument was implemented in a science gifted highschool to measure the reliability of the instrument. From the 40 items, 34 items were selected through the initial reliability test by Cronbach's ${\alpha}$(>.75). Finally through the three times of factor analysis process, 28 items in five construct categories were selected; motivation (3 items), engineering design (6 items), engineering habits of mind (9 items), understandings of engineering and engineers (4 items), communication and collaboration skill (6 items). The factor analysis result showed that the reliability of each construct category was between .733 to .892., meaning that the instrument is reliable in terms of the higher structural validity (each item is categorized in an appropriate construct category). We expect that the creative engineering problem solving propensity instrument developed in this study can be used in various contexts for STEAM education research as a reliable and valid instrument.
This study is to setup a mathematics PBL model that is right for elementary students. PBL models are developed and applied to actual courses and analyzed. So, a specific plan and practical understanding of PBL mathematics textbooks will be presented. But in order for this to happen, first the mathematics PBL model, that can realize 7th revised curriculum's goal, needs to setup and divided into knowledge, skill and attitude domains. Through this study, the general PBL model and the PBL model appropriate for elementary mathematics was amended and supplemented, this was then applied to courses and analyzed, and the below conclusions were realized. First, mathematical idealization stage is needed for mathematical PBL model. Since an elementary student is shortcoming in problem understanding and mathematical activity, a middle step that allows the student to understand the problem situation mathematizing and find a solution mathematically is desperately needed. Therefore, in this study, we named it the mathematical idealization stage and had it setup. Second, a mathematics information collection stage needs to be prepared for a successful PBL. Through this stage, the students will have an opportunity to gather the necessary information needed and restructure it to solve the problem. Third, the organization stage in mathematical PBL model needs to be strengthened. PBL is not just completed, through the best use of mathematics subject matter to solve the problem. Organization time is needed to allow the students to grow to a more deepened and advanced level. In conclusion, there is significance in providing a specific plan for mathematical PBL model, which can be seen through this study on applying and analyzing elementary mathematics and appropriate PBL models.

Mathematics anxiety is likely to be a drag on mathematics learning if that is left alone, and it is important to grasp the cause of mathematics anxiety and devise how to get rid of it. The purpose of this study was to examine the cause of mathematics anxiety among elementary school children, to develop a math-friendly activity program geared toward easing mathematics anxiety and to check the effect of the developed program on the alleviation of mathematics anxiety. The subjects in this study were 32 students in a fourth-grade class in I elementary school located in Dongdaemoon-gu, Seoul. A math-friendly activity program was designed to alleviate the mathematics anxiety of the five subfactors-test anxiety, time constraints, comprehension, learning motivation and parent attitude-on which the students scored higher than their pretest collective averages. The mathematics anxiety pretest data, the objectives and content system of the current 7th national mathematics curriculum and the mathematics textbooks for 4-A and 4-B were analyzed to develop the math-friendly activity program that consisted of psychological remedy (positive thinking training) and non-psychological remedy (mathematics activities). After the program was implemented, we analyze the pretest and posttest mathematics anxiety data to determine the effect of the program. As a result, the collective averages of every student on math anxiety and its subfactors were lower in the posttest than in the pretest.

The purpose of this study was to investigate explanations of science textbooks and science teachers' conceptions related to freezing point depression phenomenon. Seven kinds of middle school science textbooks and five kinds of high school chemistryII textbooks were analyzed for the purpose. The teachers' conceptions were searched by a questionnaire developed in this study. The subjects were 146 science teachers. The explanation types of science textbooks were divided into two; 'Description of the phenomenon' and 'Vapor pressure lowering'. The explanations in most of middle school science textbooks and high school chemistryII textbooks belong to 'Description of the phenomenon' and there was no explanation of the reason. The graphs related to depression of freezing point were diverse, too. Most of the science teachers also did not have scientific conception. The percentage of the teachers who thought that the cause of freezing point depression was blocking of solute in solution was high. But the teacher could not find meaningful relation the 'Blocking of solute' explanation represented for elevation of boiling point with depression of freezing point. It is insisted that entropy concept is need to explain depression of freezing point phenomenon in this study.
