Effects of SDN® as a Microbial Culture on Milk Production, Milk Composition and Somatic Cell Counts of Lactating Cows (미생물 배양액 SDN®의 급여가 착유우의 유생산, 유성분 및 체세포수에 미치는 영향)

  • Holstein cows(n=12) were assigned to one of three diets containing control diet and diets containing a microbial culture, 50ml(T1) and 100ml(T2) SDN(R)(amicrobial culture), per day. The basal diet containing concentrate mixture, corn silage and timothy hay were fed midlactating cows for 12 weeks. Milk production tended to be higher for cows fed T2 diet (20.8kg/day) than fed T1(19.7kg/d) and control diet (19.2kg/day).  There was a tendency of an increase in 4% FCM for cows fed T2 diet(19.6kg/day) than T1(18.8kg/d) and control diet(18.4kg/day). Milk components were not found to be different between cows fed control diet and SDN(R) diets. There was a tendency an increase in milk protein for cows fed control diet(3.43%) compared with microbial diets, T1 and T2(3.08% and 3.20%). However, milk protein production was not significantly different between control diet(0.65kg/d) and T1(0.61kg/d) or T2(0.67kg/d). Somatic cell counts for cows fed T1(72,000) and T2(60,000/ml) were lower than cows fed control diet (108,000/ml) (P<0.05). In conclusion, the cows that were fed diets containing SDN(R) as a microbial culture resulted a tendency of an increase in milk production and a reduction of somatic cell counts which indicates improved milk quality and hygiene.

Prediction of Salinity Changes for Seawater Inflow and Rainfall Runoff in Yongwon Channel (해수유입과 강우유출 영향에 따른 용원수로의 염분도 변화 예측)

  • In this study, EFDC (Environmental Fluid Dynamics Code) model was used to simulate the salinity distribution for sea water inflow and rainfall runoff. The flowrate was given to the boundary conditions, which can be calculated by areal-specific flowrate method from the measured flowrate of the representative outfall. The boundary condition of the water elevation can be obtained from the hourly tidal elevation. The flowrate from the outfall can be calculated using the condition of the 245 mm raifall. The simulation results showed that at Sites 1~2 and the Mangsan island (Site 4) the salinity becomes 0 ppt after the rainfall. However, the salinity is 30 ppt when there is no rainfall. Time series of the salinity changes were compared with the measured data from January 1 to December 31, 2010 at the four sites (Site 2~5) of Yongwon channel. Lower salinities are shown at the inner sites of Yongwon channel (Site 1~4) and the sites of Songjeong river (Site 7~8). The intensive investigation near the Mangsan island showed that the changes of salinity were 21.9~28.8 ppt after the rainfall of 17 mm and those of the salinity were 2.33~8.05 ppt after the cumulative rainfall of 160.5 mm. This means that the sea water circulation is blocked in Yongwon channel, and the salinity becomes lower rapidly after the heavy rain.

Computational Method for Rate of Overtopping Using Time Dependent Mild-Slope Equation (시간의존 완경사방정식을 이용한 월파량 산정 방법)

  • Most of the conventional breakwaters impermeable breakwaters which block seawater exchange between the outside and inside of the harbors. The blocking of seawater exchange may cause pollution of water in harbors. To solve the water pollution problem, various kinds of seawater exchange breakwaters have been proposed. Their types can be classified into the current type which uses tidal current, and the overtopping type which uses the wave energy. The overtopping type breakwaters require a discharge coefficient to calculate the rate of overtopping into the harbor. The present study is to compute the rate of overtopping with introduction of a correct discharge coefficient and to evaluate the effect of the overtopping type breakwater on the water qualify inside a harbor. The rate of overtopping was computed by using Forchheimer formula with time dependent mild-slope equation for various wave conditions. The formula has been generally used to calculate the overflow discharge in steady state river flows. The discharge coefficient, which is the key parameter of the calculation, was determined by a series of hydraulic model tests. The present scheme was applied to the seawater exchange section of the western breakwater of Jeju New Harbor's and the efficiency of that section was examined. The calculated results showed that the rate of overtopping into the harbor reached about $27.5m^3/s$ in the wave condition (wave height 3.7 m, wave period 8.5s, and wave direction NNW).

Effect of gas composition on the characteristics of a-C:F thin films for use as low dielectric constant ILD (가스 조성이 저유전상수 a-C:F 층간절연막의 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • As device dimensions approach submicrometer size in ULSI, the demand for interlayer dielectric materials with very low dielectric constant is increased to solve problems of RC delay caused by increase in parasitic resistance and capacitance in multilevel interconnectins. Fluorinated amorphous carbon in one of the promising materials in ULSI for the interlayer dielectric films with low dielectric constant. However, poor thermal stability and adhesion with Si substrates have inhibited its use. Recently, amorphous hydrogenated carbon (a-C:H) film as a buffer layer between the Si substrate and a-C:F has been introduced because it improves the adhesion with Si substrate. In this study, therfore, a-C:F/a-C:H films were deposited on p-type Si(100) by ECRCVD from $C_2F_6, CH_4$and $H_2$gas source and investigated the effect of forward power and composition on the thickness, chemical bonding state, dielectric constant, surface morphology and roughness of a-C:F films as an interlayer dielectric for ULSI. SEM, FT-IR, XPS, C-V meter and AFM were used for determination of each properties. The dielectric constant in the a-C:F/a-C:H films were found to decrease with increasing fluorine content. However, the dielectric constant increased after furnace annealing in $N_2$atomosphere at $400^{\circ}C$ for 1hour due to decreasing of flurorine content. Seasonal Variations of Nitrifying Bacteria in Agricultural Reservoir (농업용 저수지에서의 질화세균의 계절적인 변화)

  • The seasonal variations of nitrifying bacterial population sampled from 3 sites in Moon-Chon reservoir were analyzed by in situ hybridization with fluorescently labeled rRNA-targeted oligonucleotide probes from August 2000 until July 2001. In addition, physico-chemical parameters such as temperature, pH, chi-a and DOC were measured to determine correlations between those factors and the size of nitrifying bacterial populations. Total bacterial numbers varied in the range of $0.8{\sim}1.5{\times}10^6\;cells/ml$ independent of sites and had the maximal values in March at all 3 stations. The ratio of eubacteria to total bacteria ranged from 44.9% to 79.5%, and the ratio of each nitrifying bacteria to eubacterial numbers reached only $1.0{\sim}7.4%$. The variations of ammonia-oxidizing bacteria ranged from $1.1{\times}10^4$ to $3.0{\times}10^4\;cells/ml$ without noticeable peak values whereas those of nitrite-oxidizing bacteria varied in $1.3{\sim}5.7{\times}10^4\;cells/ml$ with the increasing tendency in winter regardless of the sites. Moreover it was observed that the numbers of nitrite-oxidizing bacteria were higher than those of ammonia-oxidizing bacteria. Total bacterial numbers correlated with water temperature (r = 0.355, p<0.05) and DOC (r = 0.58G, p<0.01) positively whereas nitrite-oxidizing bacteria correlated with temperature (r = -0.416, p<0.05) and pH (r = -0.568, p = 0.001) negatively. In addition, DOC represented good correlations with eubacterial numbers (r = 0.448, p<0.01). These results indicate that temperature, DOC and pH might be one of the main factors affecting variations of bacterial populations in the aquatic ecosystem. It was also suggested that FISH method is a useful tool for detection of slow growing nitrifying bacteria.

Changes of Essential Oils from Mentha piperita L. Influenced by Various Cultivation Conditions and Harvesting Time (박하의 재배조건 및 수확시기에 따른 정유성분의 변화)

  • To investigate the effects of cultivation on the aroma characteristics of essential oil of peppermint (Mentha piperita L.), experimental peppermints were cultivated with different treatments of field mulching, soil fertilization, and harvesting time. Aroma characteristics of the different mint oils were analyzed by gas chromatography (GC) and GC/mass spectrometry (MS)/infrared spectroscopy (IR). Growth of peppermint with vinyl muching was faster in the early stage of cultivation, but became almost same in the harvest date. The higher amounts of rainfall and sunshine hour resulted in the better growth of stem and leaf of the peppermint. Contents of menthone in the essential oils from the peppermint cultivated in 1990 increased as harvest date delayed from late June 25 to late July 26 the same period. In 1991 menthone decreased from June 25 to August 5, but l-menthol increased from June 25 to august 5. The results indicated that the sunshing hour affected biosynthesis of the components. Contents of menthofuran increased significantly from early June to late July. The optimum cutting date resulting best oil production was late July 7 in 1991.

  • 자갈하상 산지하천의 주요 관심사는 소류사 크기 분포와 연계하여 하상재료의 이송에 대한 광범위의 기초자료 확보하는 것이다. 자갈 하상재료가 주를 이루는 강원영동지역 양양남대천의 산지 하천을 대상으로 하상재료를 조사하였다. 산지하천의 소류사 크기를 고려한 소류사 채집기를 설치하고, 호우 발생 이후 측정기에 포획된 소류사의 크기를 파악하기 위해 입도분포를 분석하였다. 두 개의 소류사 측정기는 지남교 지점에 유속이 빠른 우안과 유속이 상대적으로 느린 좌안에 각각 설치하였다. 산지하천 시험구간의 하상재료 분포도는 그림 1과 같으며, 하상재료 평균입경은 184.65mm 이였다. 연구단에서 운영중인 법수치 우량관측소의 관측자료에 따르면, 2009년 11월 1~13일 185mm 강우가 발생하였으며, 11월 11일 7:00경에 최대수위에 따른 첨두유출량 107.23$m^3/s$가 발생하였다. 첨두유출 발생당시 이동한 우안 소류사의 평균입경은 102.88mm 이였고, 좌안 소류사의 평균입경은 66.53mm 이였다(그림 2). 하상재료의 평균입경에 대한 소류사 평균입경을 비교하였을 때, 소류사는 하상재료의 $45.87{\pm}13.92%$ 크기 범위에서 이동함을 확인하였다.

  • This study presents a relationship between gas quantity and measurement resistance using the bubble meter, the water head indicator and the rotor meter from the gas vent sanitary landfill. From the one-dimensional analyses and experiments, the below results have been obtained. The gas volume sourcing from the gas vent depends on the permeability of final cover soil, its cover depth and distance between the gas vents. The total gas volume producing in the interested domain may be accurately measured by the bubble meter, the water head indicator and the rotor meter if the clay is used for the final cover soil. The required times approaching to the steady-state are different with respect to the flow meters, one day is for the bubble meter and the water head indicator and one hour for the rotor meter.

  • High quality diamond films of the silicon on diamond (SOD) structure are deposited using CO and $H_2$ gas mixture in microwave plasma chemical vapor deposition (CVD), a SOD structure is fabricated using low pressure CVD polysilicon on diamond/ Si(100) substrate. The crystalline structure of the diamond films which composed of { 111} and {100} planes. were changed from octahedral one to cubo-octahedron one as the CO/$H_2$ ratios are increased. The high quality diamond films without amorphous carbon and non-diamond elements were deposited at the CO/$H_2$ flow rate of 0.18. and the main phase of the diamond films shows (111) plane. The diamond/Si(lOO) structure shows that the interface is flat without voids. The measured dielectric constant. leakage current and breakdown field were $5.31\times10^{-9}A/cm^2$ and $9\times{10^7}{\Omega}cm$ respectively.

저진공 펄스 직류 전원 $BCl_3/SF_6$ 플라즈마를 이용한 GaAs/$Al_{0.2}Ga_{0.8}As$ 화합물 반도체의 선택적 식각 연구

  • 펄스 직류 전원 $BCl_3/SF_6$ 플라즈마를 이용하여 GaAs/$Al_{0.2}Ga_{0.8}As$의 선택적 식각을 연구하였다. 식각 주요 공정 변수는 $BCl_3/SF_6$ 플라즈마에서 $SF_6$ 가스 유량(0~50%)이었다. $BCl_3/SF_6$의 총 가스 유량은 20 sccm이었다. 다른 공정 조건인 공정 압력(100 mTorr), 펄스 파워(500 V), 펄스 주파수(200 kHz), 리버스 시간 (0.7 ${\mu}s$)은 일정하게 고정시켰으며 기계적 펌프만을 이용하여 공정을 진행하였다. 오실로스코프(Oscilloscope) 데이터에 의하면 가스의 조성 변화에도 척에 걸리는 입력 전압과 전류가 거의 변화가 없었다. $BCl_3/SF_6$ 가스가 10%의 조성에서 GaAs와 $Al_{0.2}Ga_{0.8}As$의 식각 선택비가 약 48 : 1로 우수한 결과를 나타내었다. 그러나 $BCl_3/SF_6$ 가스의 증가는 GaAs의 식각율과 선택도를 감소시켰다. 그리고 $SF_6$ 가스의 조성비가 30% 이상일 경우에는 GaAs와 $Al_{0.2}Ga_{0.8}As$가 식각되지 않았다. 식각 후에 GaAs의 표면 거칠기(RMS surface roughness)는 0.7~1.3 nm로 나타났다. 위의 결과들을 종합적으로 보면 펄스 직류 전원 $BCl_3/SF_6$의 조성비가 10%일 때 가장 좋은 식각 선택비를 얻을 수 있었다.
