  • To improve the accuracy and enhance the applicability of existing models, this paper proposes a generalized Markov chain model for IEEE 802.11 Distributed Coordination Function (DCF) under the widely adopted assumption of ideal transmission channel. The IEEE 802.11 DCF is modeled by a two dimensional Markov chain, which takes into account unsaturated traffic, backoff freezing, retry limits, the difference between maximum retransmission count and maximum backoff exponent, and limited buffer size based on the M/G/1/K queuing model. We show that existing models can be treated as special cases of the proposed generalized model. Furthermore, simulation results validate the accuracy of the proposed model.

  • The purpose of this is made an examination of phosphorus loading model for eutrophication response in the Yongsan lake. For the model, we measured the total amount of nutrients derived from the Yongsan river watershed, inflow rate to the Yongsan lake, water quality, and water budget from January to December in 1999. The total amount of precipitation in the Yongsan river watershed was 4,951.7$\times$10$^{6}$ ㎥/y and inflow amount was 2,569.7$\times$10$^{6}$ ㎥/y, therefore the outflow rate of the Yongsan river watershed was 51.9%. The develop loading of total nitrogen was 86,928.1kg/d and that of total phosphorus was 22,007.6kg/d at the Yongsan river watershed, But, as the inflow loading of total nitrogen was 33,962kg/d and the inflow loading of total phosphorus was 2,218kg/d to the Yongsan lake. so each infolw rate was 39.0% and 10.1%. The hydraulic residence time was 34days, total phosphorus loading [L(P)] on the surface area was 23.398g/㎥/y, the hydraulic load( $Q_{s}$) of inflow water was 74.269m/y, the reserve rate of phosphorus in the lake was 0.359, and the settinh velocity of phosphorus was 0.114m/d at the Yongsan lake. Mathematical model of phosphorus loading to estimate the responses of eutrophication at the Yongsan lake is [ $P_{j}$] = 0.838 [L(P)/Q.(1+√ $T_{w}$)$^{-1}$ ] . ] . .

  • The objective of this study was to investigate the potential of the application of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) from kimchi as a starter culture in the production of fermented sausages. To achieve this, a submerged model medium that contained LAB as part of a complex system of kimchi (0.5, 1.0, 1.0, 3.0, and 5.0%) and lyophilized kimchi powder (0.2 and 0.5%) was fermented for 120 h. During the fermentation period, the growth of total viable organisms and LAB, and the changes in the pH and the titratable acidity, were investigated. The initial LAB counts ranged from 6.4 to 7.7 Log CFU/mL for the kimchi media, and from 6.9 to 6.9 Log CFU/mL for the kimchi powder media. In all the kimchi batches, the LAB increased logarithmically, and the highest LAB counts (around 9 Log CFU/mL) were reached in 24 h. An evident lag phase of the LAB was observed in the kimchi powder samples and reached 8.8 Log CFU/mL in 8 h. The decrease in the pH and the formation of lactic acid were rapid in the kimchi batches, and reached pH values of 3.4-3.5 in 12 h. With these results, the LAB that was integrated with the addition of kimchi or kimchi powder demonstrated its potential utility as a substitute for starter culture.

  • This study presents an approach to reconstruct high-resolution imagery for multispectral imagery of low-resolution using panchromatic imagery of high-resolution. The proposed scheme reconstructs a high-resolution image which agrees with original spectral values. It uses a linear model of high-and low- resolution images and consists of two stages. The first one is to perform a global estimation of the least square error on the basis of a linear model of low-resolution image associated with high-resolution feature, and next local correction then makes the reconstructed image locally fit to the original spectral values. In this study, the new method was applied to KOMPSAT-1 EOC image of 6m and LANDSAT ETM+ of 30m, and an 1m RGB image was also generated from 4m IKONOS multispectral data. The results show its capability to reconstruct high-resolution imagery from multispectral data of low-resolution.

  • The black box model is a relatively new option for nonlinear dynamic system identification. It can be used for prediction problems just based on analyzing the input and output data without considering the changes of the internal structure. In this paper, a black box model was presented to solve unconstrained overlying strata movement problems in coal mine production. Based on the black box theory, the overlying strata regional system was viewed as a "black box", and the black box model on overburden strata movement was established. Then, the rock mechanical properties and the mining thickness and mined-out section area were selected as the subject and object respectively, and the influences of coal mining on the overburden regional system were discussed. Finally, a corrected method for height prediction of the fractured zone was obtained. According to actual mine geological conditions, the measured geological data were introduced into the black box model of overlying strata movement for height calculation, and the fractured zone height was determined as 40.36 m, which was comparable to the actual height value (43.91 m) of the fractured zone detected by Double-block Leak Hunting in Drill. By comparing the calculation result and actual surface subsidence value, it can be concluded that the proposed model is adaptable for height prediction of the fractured zone.

  • Using Brandt model the mess distribution of the late type spiral galaxy NGC 6946 was derived, and the total mass was reestimated to understand the M/L ratio of this galaxy. Two kinds of the rotation curve with shape parameter n=1 and 3.3 were examined. The following are the main results; (1) The total masses of NGC 6946 are $3.1\times$$10^{11}$ M(n=1) AND $2.8\times$$10^{11}$ M(n=3.3) respectively. and the corresponding M/L are about 17 and 16 for both cases. (2) The optical image in the blue light, whose radius is 9.6 kpc, has 8$\times$$10^{10}$ M and 1.4$\times$$10^{11}$ M. These give the value of M/L about 5 and 8 respectively. (3) The masses and M/L of the nuclear region within 1.2 kpc are 4.0$\times$$10^{9}$ M 4.7$\times$$10^9$ M and 3, 4 for both cases. Those of the disk from 1.2 kpc to 9.6 kpc are 7.6$\times$1$10^{10}$M, 1.4$\times$$10^{11}$M, and 5, 8. (4) The masses of the outer halo extended to few hundreds kiloparsecs are 2.3$\times$$10^{11}$ M and 1.4$\times$$10^{11}$M. The corresponding M/L are about 62 and 37.

  • This study aims to propose the location selection method of car-sharing services in Daejeon Metropolitan city. In order to select locations for car-sharing, Daejoen area was divided in $500m{\times}500m$ cell size using GIS Arc/Info 10, and input factors which may affect car-sharing service were determined, and then each input factor was standardized for analysis. The weight for each input factor was determined through experts' survey and index of goodness of fit was estimated in each cell ($500m{\times}500m$ size) using AHP method. Also, This study proposed the method to select 30 service facility location using Location-allocation Model in Network Analysis module. The proposed method for the location selection of car-sharing service in this study can be used for preliminary data for initial car-sharing introduction. Henceforward, appropriate demand forecasting and economic evaluation for the location selection of car-sharing service are needed for the further study.

  • If the ground is excavated in a depth which is deeper than the adjacent existing tunnel, the behavior of the braced wall is known to be greatly affected by the presence of the tunnel. By the way it is expected to be also affected by the structure on the ground surface, There are not many examples of studies which are conducted on this subject. As a result, largel scale model tests and analysis were conducted, to measure the behavior of the tunnel under the building whose location on the ground surface was varied during the adjacent ground excavation. For this purpose, the location of a building load was varied in 0 m, 1D, 2D on ground surface. In this paper, the behaviors of braced wall and adjacent tunnel was studied. Model tests in 1 : 10 scale were performed in real construction sequences. The size of test pit was $2.0m(width){\times}6.0m(height){\times}4.0m(length)$ in dimension. As a result, it was found that the stability of the existing tunnel under the influence of the building load on the ground surface adjacent to the braced wall.

  • Leaf explants of Ixeris sonchifolia produced adventitious shoots at a frequency of 100% when cultured on MS medium supplemented with combinations of various concentrations of 6-benzyladenine (BA) (0.44, 4.44, or 8.87 ${\mu}M$) and 0.54 ${\mu}M$ NAA, or MS medium supplemented with 22.19 ${\mu}M$ BA and 2.69 ${\mu}M\;\alpha$-naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) after four weeks of culture. Each explants (approximately $3{\times}6mm$) produced greater than 70 shoots at a combination of 0.44 ${\mu}M$ BA and 0.54 ${\mu}M$ NAA. Leaf explants produced shoots at a frequency of greater than 80% even at as low as 0.13 ${\mu}M$ BA as the sole growth regulator. Upon transfer to one-third strength MS with 0.54 ${\mu}M$ NAA, excised adventitious shoots were rooted at a frequency of 100%. Regenerated plantlets were transplanted to potting soil and grown to maturity in a greenhouse. The competence of I. sonchifolia for plant regeneration via organogenesis appears to be greater than the competence of tobacco, currently the best model plant for organogenesis.

  • We performed the modeling of the dielectric functions of C $d_{0.77}$M $g_{0.23}$Te by using parametric semiconductor model. Parametric model describes the analytic dielectric function as the summation of several energy-bounded Gaussian-broadened polynomials and provides a reasonably well parameterized function which can accurately reproduce the optical constants of semiconductor materials. We obtained the values of fitting parameters of the Mg composition 0.23 in the parametric model. From these parameters we could remove interference oscillations to obtain the dielectric function of C $d_{0.77}$M $g_{0.23}$Te alloy film for full 0.5-6.0 eV energy range.y range.
