This study investigated the effects of feeding Charolais steers on diets rich in either n-6 or n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) and time on feed (TOF) on muscle fatty acid composition and content. Twenty eight steers were fed on ad libitum forage and one of two concentrates varying in the source of fat; soya (high in C18:2 n-6) or whole linseed (high in C18:3 n-3) for either 60 or 90 days in IGER (Institute of Grassland and Environmental Research, UK). The concentrates were fed at approximately 0.73 of total DM intake. TOF influenced carcass weight, conformation and fatness scores, which were higher at 90 v. 60 days (P<0.05). Diet did not affect total fatty acid content of neutral lipid in m. longissimus thoracis but feeding linseed increased total phospholipid fatty acid by approx- imately 15%(P<0.05). Linseed increased the amount and proportion of C18:3 n-3 (P<0.001) and the proportion of CLA (cis-9, trans-11 conjugated linoleic acid), while soya increased the content (P<0.05) and proportion (P<0.001) of C18:2 n-6 in muscle neutral lipid. In muscle phospholipid, linseed significantly increased the amount of CLA, C18:3 n-3 and its longer chain derivatives as well as C14:0, C16:0, C18:0. C18:1 trans and C18:2 n-6. The amount and proportion of C18:2 n-6 and its longer chain C20 derivatives were higher on feeding soya. TOF (90 v. 60 day) increased the content of C14:0, C16:0, C16:1, CLA, C18:1 n-9, C18:2 n-6 and C18:3 n-3 in muscle neutral lipid. The P:S was not affected by diet or TOF. The ratio of C18:2 n-6 : C18:3 n-3 and sum of n-6 : n-3 fatty acids were higher in muscle from animals fed on linseed v. soya (P<0.001). The study indicates that the PUFA composition of beef muscle may be significantly modified by feeding contrasting dietary lipids, soya vs. linseed. Feeding linseed produced a better balance of muscle fatty acids, more in line with current nutritional recommendations with a lower C18:2 n-6:C18:3 n-3 ratio associated with higher muscle content of C18:3 n-3 and C20:5 n-3 and CLA and lower C20:4 n-6.

The dihydrido P-C-P pincer complex, $IrH_2{C_6H_3-2,6-(CH_2PBu_2^t)_2}$ (1), was successfully prepared from the reaction of the hydrochloride complex, $IrClH (C_6H_3-2,6-(CH_2PBu_2^t)_2}$, and super acid $(LiBEt_3H)$ under 1 atm of hydrogen in pentane solution at room temperature and followed by Heating at $130^{\circ}C$ in vacuo. Jensen recently found that the dihydrido P-C-P pincer complex 1 is a highly active homogeneous catalyst for the transfer dehydrogenation of alkanes with unusual longterm stability at temperatures as high as $200^{\circ}C$. The treatment of dihydrido complex 1 with nitrogen, water, carbon dioxide, and carbon monoxide in presence of tert-butylethylene (the) at room temperature in an appropriate solution gave the dinitrogen complex, $[Ir{C-6H_3-2,6-(CH_2PBu_2^t)_2}]_2({\mu}-N_2)$ (2), the hydrido hydroxyl complex, $IrH(OH){C_6H_3-2,6-(CH_2PBu_2^t)_2}$ (3), the carbon dioxide complex, $Ir({\eta}^2-CO_2) {C_6H_3-2,6-(CH_2PBu_2^t)_2}$ (including the bicarbonate complex, $IrH({\kappa}^2-O_2COH){C_6H_3-2,6-(CH_2PBu_2^t)_2}\;(4))$, and the carbonyl complex, $Ir(CO) {C_6H_3-2,6-(CH_2PBu_2^t)_2}\;(5)$ (including the carboxyl complex, $IrH(C(O)OH) {C_6H_3-2,6-(CH_2PBu_2^t)_2}\;(6))$, in good yield, respectively. These P-C-P iridium complexes were isolated and characterized by $^1H,\;^{13}C,\;^{31}P\; NMR$, and IR spectroscopy. In addition, the complexes (1-6) were characterized by a single crystal X-ray crystallography. These complexes account for these small molecules' inhibition of dehydrogenation of alkanes catalyzed by the dihydrido complex 1.

The experiments, which analyze the injury symptoms and diagnose growth conditions utilizing IRVT and analyzing each parts of H. helix L., had been held under a low temperature. Greenhouse and outdoor growing Genus hedera had been prepared and compared with each Genus hedera's peak and bottom leaves' surface temperature under the experimental categories $-6^{\circ}C$ and $-12^{\circ}C$. As results, analyzing the surface thermal property of peak part leaves' of outdoor growing Genus hedera, at experimental categories $-6^{\circ}C$, $-12^{\circ}C$ were ranged from $-2^{\circ}C{\sim}-7^{\circ}C$ and $-2^{\circ}C{\sim}-15^{\circ}C$. On the other hand, the surface thermal property of bottom part leaves at experimental categories $-6^{\circ}C$, $-12^{\circ}C$ were ranged $-2^{\circ}C{\sim}-11^{\circ}C$ and $-1^{\circ}C{\sim}-12^{\circ}C$. It appears that the thermal properties of leaves' surface on $-6^{\circ}C$ peaks and $-12^{\circ}C$ bottoms were more broadband than bottoms and peaks. It means that the peaks were more sensitive than bottoms, as like $-2^{\circ}C{\sim}-15^{\circ}C$, $-1{\sim}-12^{\circ}C$. Moreover, as similar results had seen to leaves surface temperature added to cold wind conditions. How the cold wind damaged the outdoor growing Genus hedera, analyzed the surface thermal property by IRVT data under $0^{\circ}C$, $-2^{\circ}C$, $-4^{\circ}C$ condition, it resulted to $-6.2^{\circ}C$, $-6.8^{\circ}C$, $-7.5^{\circ}C$. It appeared more $3.5{\sim}6.2^{\circ}C$ low temperature than experimental setting point. In addition, each parts thurmal property of peaks and bottoms was not similar, it referred to each parts' sensitivities of low temperature were different on the peak and bottom leaves surface temperature.
6H-SiC is a promising material (Eg=3.0eV) for blue light-emitting doide and high-temperature semiconducting device. In the experiment, single crystals of a-SiC have been grown by the sublimation method to fabricate blue light~emitting diode. During the growth of a-SiC single crystals, a temperature Vadient, yonh temperature and pressure ranges were kept 44℃/cm , 1800-1990℃ and 50-1000 mTorr, respectively. Single crystals obtained in Acheson furnace were used as seed crystals. Polarizing microscopy and back-reflection X-ray Laue diffraction showed that the a-SiC crystal was epitaxially and on the seed crytal. It was found by XRD analysis that when other growth conditions were the same, a-SiC was grown at the temperature above 1840℃ and 3C-SiC was gown at lower temperature or under low supersaturation of vapor. The carrier type. concentration and mobility were measured be hole(p-type), 7.6x1014cm-3 and 19cm2V-1sec-1, respectively, by van der Pauw method.

Changes in pH, viable microbial count, chemical freshness, texture, and sensory qualities of Sing Sing Hoe (SSH, fresh-sliced raw fish) were measured over 15 days at $4^{\circ}C$, $-20^{\circ}C$, and $-80^{\circ}C$. The initial pH of SSH was 6.25 at all three storage temperatures, and pH increased slightly after 12 days to pH 6.48 and pH 6.55 at $-20^{\circ}C$ and $-80^{\circ}C$, respectively. The range in viable cell count was 104-106 CFU/g, regardless of storage temperature. The initial content of volatile basic nitrogen (VBN) was 5.8 mg/100 g and became 8.2 mg/100 g or less, and 7.9 mg/100 g or less after 15 days at $-20^{\circ}C$ and $-80^{\circ}C$, respectively. However, pH and VBN values increased significantly after 3 days of storage at $4^{\circ}C$. At this temperature, the K-value was 22.3% after 6 days and 40% or more after 15 days. At $-20^{\circ}C$, the K-value was 9.6% or less after 6 days and 21% or less after 15 days of storage. At $-80^{\circ}C$, the K-value was 8.5% or less after 9 days and 20% or less after 15 days of storage. Compared with the K-value of live fish muscle (10%), freshness similar to that of live fish was maintained for 6 days under both $-20^{\circ}C$ and $-80^{\circ}C$ storage conditions. There was no significant change in texture during storage of SSH at $-20^{\circ}C$ or $-80^{\circ}C$, but SSH stored at $4^{\circ}C$ showed a decrease in texture quality during storage. Sensory scores were high for material stored for up to 3 days at $4^{\circ}C$ and 6 days at $-20^{\circ}C$ or $-80^{\circ}C$. The overall freshness of SSH was maintained for up to 6 days, in comparison with fresh-sliced raw fish, under both frozen storage conditions.
In repaired weldment of ASTM A-470 class 8 high pressure stream turbine rotor steel, creep rupture life was studied in relation with carbide morphology. Carbides were identified using carbide extraction replica method. A retired rotor has molybdenum rich carbide $M_2C$, lndacochea vanadium rich carbide $M_4C_3$, and chromium rich carbides $M_{23}C_6$and $M_7C_3$. Weldments ruptured at ICHAZ showed that some of carbides have been transformed into spherical types of coarsened carbides at ruptured area. Those carbides were revealed as molybdenum rich $M_6C$ carbide and they provided cavitation sites due to molybdenum depletion around $(M_6C)$ carbide. However coarsened $M_6C$ and $M_{23}C_6$ carbides were observed at ruptured area in case of ruptured at CGHAZ.
The bond lengths, bond angles and energies of $C_6$ clusters are calculated by using the simulation technique based on some semiempirical potential energy functions, with the result that the equilibrium configuration of $C_6$ is a regular equilateral hexagon. The same simulations have been performed for linear and cyclic forms of $C_7-C_10$ clusters and the results show that the regular heptagonal, octagonal, nonagonal and decagonal forms are more stable than the linear forms of the respective clusters. Comparison of this result with the present author's previous result that the most stable configurations of $C_2-C_5$ are linear implies that the most stable configuration of the cluster changes from one-dimension al to two-dimensional one as the cluster size increases and that the critical cluster size is $C_6$.
Reaction of $Ir(ClO_4)(CO)(PPh_3)_2$ with trans-$C_6H_5CH$ = $CHCO_2C_2H_5$ produces a new cationic iridium(I) complex, [Ir (trans-$C_6H_5CH$ = $CHCO_2C_2H_5)(CO)(PPh_3)_2]ClO_4$ where trans-$C_6H_5CH$ = $CHCO_2C_2H_5$ seems to be coordinated through the carbonyl oxygen rather than through the $\pi$-system of the olefinic group according to the spectral data. It has been found that Ir$(ClO_4)(CO)(PPh_3)_2$ catalyzes the hydrogenation of $CH_2$ = $CHCO_2C_2H_5$, trans-$CH_3CH$ = $CHCO_2C_2H_5$ and trans-$C_6H_5CH$ = $CHCO_2C_2H_5$ to $CH_3CH_2CO_2C_2H_5$, $CH_3CH_2CH_2CO_2C_2H_5$ and $C_6H_5CH_2CH_2CO_2C_2H_5$, respectively at room temperature under the atmospheric pressure of hydrogen. The relative rates of the hydrogenation of the unsaturated esters are mostly understood in terms of steric reasons.
