Crane systems are very important in industrial fields to carry heavy objects such that many investigations about control of the systems are actively conducted for enhancing its control performance. This paper presents an adaptive control approach using the model matching for a complex 3-DOF nonlinear crane system. First, the system model is linearized through feedback linearization method and then PD control is applied in the approximated model. This linear model is considered as nominal to derive corrective control law for a perturbed crane model using Lyapunov theory. This corrective control is primitively aimed to compensate real-time control deviation due to partially known perturbation. We additionally study stability analysis of the crane control system using Lyapunov perturbation theory. Evaluation of our control approach is numerically carried out through computer simulation and its superiority is demonstrated comparing with the classical control.

The UKF algorithm for tracking moving objects has fast convergence speed and good tracking performance without the derivative computation. However, this algorithm has serious drawbacks which limit its use in conditions such as Gaussian noise distribution. Meanwhile, the particle filter(PF) is a state estimation method applied to nonlinear and non-Gaussian systems without these limitations. But this method also has some disadvantages such as computation increase as the number of particles rises. In this paper, we propose the Unscented Particle Filter (UPF) algorithm which combines Unscented Kalman Filter (UKF) and Particle Filter (PF) in order to overcome these drawbacks. The performance of the UPF algorithm was tested to compare with Particle Filter using a 2-DOF (Degree of Freedom) Pendulum System. The results show that the proposed algorithm is more suitable to the nonlinear and non-Gaussian state estimation compared with PF.
An augmented book is an application that augments such multimedia elements as virtual 3D objects generated by computer graphics, movie clips, or sound clips to a real book using AR technologies. It is intended to bring additional education and entertainment effects to users. For augmented books, this paper proposes an adaptive keyframe-based page tracking method to estimate the camera's 6 DOF pose in real-time after recognizing a page and performing wide-baseline keypoint matching. For a page tracking, proposed method in this paper chooses a proper keyframe and performs a tracking in two step of coarse-to-fine stage. As a result, the proposed method in this paper guarantees a robust tracking to view-point and illumination variations and real-time.

A high Reynolds number transonic wind tunnel has been built in 2018 at Agency for Defense Development(ADD). The tunnel has a closed circuit with a 1.5m×1.5m test section and is injection driven from a 140bar air supply system. The Mach number range is 0.3-1.2 with a conventional contracting nozzle and 1.4 with a convergent-divergent contraction. The stagnation pressure range is 100-550kPa at the lowest Mach number. An AGARD-B standard model is tested in the transonic wind tunnel to obtain 6-DOF aerodynamic coefficients. The results are compared with those obtained from ADD trisonic wind tunnel and others. We verify that the transonic wind tunnel become available to develop an aircraft from the testing results.

A mobile surveillance robot is defined as a surveillance robot system that is mounted on a mobile platform and is used to protect public areas such as airports or harbors from invaders. The mobile surveillance robot that is mounted on a mobile platform consists of a gun module, a camera system module, an embedded control system, and AHRS (Attitude and Heading Reference System). It has two axis control systems for controlling its elevation and azimuth. In order to obtain stable images for targeting invaders, this system requires a stabilizer to compensate any disturbance due to vehicle motion. In this study, a virtual model of a mobile surveillance robot has been created and ADAMS/Matlab simulations have been performed to verify the suitability of the proposed stabilization algorithm. Further, the suitability of the stabilization algorithm has also been verified using a mock-up of the mobile surveillance robot and a 6-DOF (Degree Of Freedom) motion simulator.

The maximum accuracy of position control by using an industrial robot is about $100{\mu}m$, whereas the maximum tolerated imprecision in the position of precision parts is about several tens of micrometers. Therefore, it is very difficult to assemble parts by position control only. Moreover, in the case of precision assembly, jamming or wedging can easily occur because of small position/orientation errors, which may damage the parts to be assembled. To overcome these problems, we investigated a force control scheme that provides proper motion in response to the contact force. In this study, we constructed a force control system that can be easily implemented in a position-controlled manipulator. Impedance control by using an admittance filter was adopted to perform stable contact tasks. It is shown that the precision parts can be assembled well by adopting impedance control and blind search methods.
Wave exciting force and moment generate the motions of a ship in waves. Since ship motion exerts the negative influences on a crew's operability, the safety of cargos, passenger's comfort, etc, the anti-rolling devices may be required to reduce such motion In this paper, the dynamics of the anti-rolling devices such as passive and active moving weight stabilizer and anti-rolling tank, and fin stabilizer are mathematically modeled While the effect of the motion of the anti-rolling device on a ship was taken into consideration in roll mode only in the past, the 6 DOF coupled equations of motion between a ship and the anti-rolling devices are constituted Finally the motion of a ship with anti-rolling devices in waves is simulated through the developed simulation program.

In this paper, a roll angle estimation method of a rolling airframe using a low grade GPS and a roll rate gyro is proposed. The strength of the received signal of the GPS antenna attached on the rolling airframe is maximized when the GPS satellite is placed on the plane determined by the x-axis of the rolling airframe and the GPS antenna axis. Under the assumption that the x-axis of the rolling airframe is coincident with its velocity vector, the roll angle of the rolling airframe is calculated from the relative position vector of the satellite to the GPS when the GPS signal strength becomes maximum. The Kalman filter combined with a roll rate gyro is introduced to increase the determination accuracy of the roll angle. The performance of the proposed method is verified via 6-DOF simulations.

Workers in industrial fields are highly exposed to accidents or injuries caused by long working hours. An exoskeleton that is able to support the arm muscles of the worker and thereby reduce the probability of an accident and enhance working efficiency could be a solution to this problem. However, existing exoskeletons demand the use of high-priced sensors and motors, which makes them difficult to use in industrial fields. To solve this problem, we developed an arm assisting exoskeleton that consists only of mechanical components without any electronic sensors or motors. The exoskeleton follows the movement of the human arm by shoulder joint and ankle joint. In addition, counterbalance mechanisms are installed on the exoskeleton to support arm strength. The experimental validation of the exoskeleton was conducted using an EMG sensor, confirming the performance of the exoskeleton.

To handle the high level radioactive materials such a spent fuel, the master-slave manipulators (MSM) are widely used as a remote handling device in nuclear facilities such as the hot cell with sealed and shielded space. In this paper, the Digital Mockup which simulates the remote operation of the Advanced Conditioning Process(ACP) is developed. Also, the workspace and the motion of the slave manipulator, as well as, the remote operation task should be analyzed. The process equipment of ACP and Maintenance/Handling Device are drawn in 3D CAD models using IGRIP. Modeling device of manipulator is assigned with various mobile attributes such as a relative position, kinematics constraints, and a range of mobility, The 3D graphic simulator using the external input device of space ball displays the movement of manipulator. To connect the external input device to the graphic simulator, the interface program of external input device with 6 DOF is deigned using the Low Level Tele-operation Interface(LLTI). The experimental result shows that the developed simulation system gives much-improved human interface characteristics and shows satisfactory response characteristics in terms of synchronization speed. This should be useful for the development of work's education system in the virtual environment.
