Large diameter piles can be defined as piles with diameter of at least 0.76 m (2.5 ft). In bridge foundation, large diameter piles have been used as pier foundations and their use has been increased greatly. In this study, static pile load tests for large diameter piles peformed in Kwangan Grande Bridge construction site were introduced. Also, various sensor installation methods for several types of piles (that is, open-ended steel pipe pile, drilled shafts and socketed pipe piles), pipe axial load measuring method, load transfer analysis method and pile load test results (pile-head load - settlement curve, and pile axial load distribution curve along the pile depth) were introduced.
This paper presents a numerical study of pile force distribution in a pile group foundation subjected to vertical load and large moment. The physical modeling of a pile foundation for a wind turbine is analyzed using 3D finite element software, PLAXIS 3D. The soil profile consists of several clay layers, which are modeled as Mohr-Coulomb material in an undrained condition. The piles in the pile group foundation are modeled as special elements called embedded pile elements. To model the problem of a pile group foundation, a small gap is created between the pile cap and underlying soil. The pile cap is modeled as a rigid plate element connected to each pile by a hinge. As a result, applied vertical load and large moment are transferred only to piles without any load sharing to underlying soil. Results of the study focus on pile load distribution for the square shape of a pile group foundation. Mathematical expression is proposed to describe pile force distribution for the cases of vertical load and large moment and purely vertical load.

It is necesary that analog buffer circuit should drive an external load in the VLSI design such as switched capacitor efilter (SCF), D/A converter, A/d converter, telecommunicatin circuit, etc. The conventional CMOS buffer circuit have many probvlems according as CMOS technique. Firstly, Capacity of large load ar enot able to opeate well. The problem can be solve to use class AB stages. But large load are operated a difficult, because an element of existing CMOS has a quadratic functional relation with inptu and outut voltage versus output current. Secondly, whole circuit of dynamic rang edecrease, because a range of inpt and output voltages go down according as increasing of intergration rate drop supply voltage. In this paper suggests that new differential CMOS line driver make out of operating an external of large load. In telecommunication's chip case transmission line could be a load. It is necessary that a load operate line driver. The proposal circuit is planned to hav ea high generation power rnage of voltage with preservin linearity. And circuit of capability is inspected through simulation program (HSPICE).

Perimeter load transfer functions were developed by an analysis of the static pile load test results of the 7 large diameter drilled shafts constructed in domestic areas. Using the pile axial load distributions obtained from the static pile load tests of large diameter drilled shafts, the unit skin frictions were analyzed and, based on unit skin friction test data, perimeter load transfer functions could be suggested. The load transfer distributions calculated by suggested functions and the load transfer functions obtained from the bi-directional pile load tests were compared. As a result, the 2 load transfer distributions were coincided, respectively.
The wind load is always the dominant load of cooling tower due to its large size, complex geometry and thin-wall structure. At present, when computing the wind-induced response of the large-scale cooling tower, the wind pressure distribution is obtained based on code regulations, wind tunnel test or computational fluid dynamic (CFD) analysis, and then is imposed on the tower structure. However, such method fails to consider the change of the wind load with the deformation of cooling tower, which may result in error of the wind load. In this paper, the analysis of the large cooling tower based on the iterative method for wind pressure is studied, in which the advantages of CFD and finite element method (FEM) are combined in order to improve the accuracy. The comparative study of the results obtained from the code regulations and iterative method is conducted. The results show that with the increase of the mean wind speed, the difference between the methods becomes bigger. On the other hand, based on the design of experiment (DOE), an approximate model is built for the optimal design of the large-scale cooling tower by a two-level optimization strategy, which makes use of code-based design method and the proposed iterative method. The results of the numerical example demonstrate the feasibility and efficiency of the proposed method.

In the designs of integrated circuits, the buffer circuits used for driving a large capacitive load from minimum-structured logic circuit outputs have important effects upon system throughputs. Therefore it is important to optimize the buffer circuits. In this paper, the principle of designing CMOS buffer circuits which have the minimum delay and drive the given capacitive load is discussed. That is, the effects of load capacitance upon rise time, fall time, and delay of the CMOS inverter and the effects of parasitic capacitances are finely analysed to calculate the requested minimum-delay CMOS buffer condition. This is different from the method by C.A. Mead et. al.[2.3.4.]which deals with passive-load-nMOS buffers. Large channel width MOS transistor stages are necessary to drive a large capacitive load. The effects of polysilicon gate resistances of such large stages upon delay are also analysed. And, the area of buffer circuits designed by the proposed method is smaller than that of buffer circuits designed by C.A. Mead's method.
Finite element analyses were performed on large-sized (>5000 ton) stainless steel circular water reservoirs subjected to earthquake loading for different stainless steel materials. The earthquake load inputs for the analyses were selected by the guidelines in the Korean Standards Association specification KS B 6283. Seismic effects can be heavily dependent on water capacity, especially for large reservoirs. The numerical results show the interactions between the different load combinations and other parameters such as the water capacity and stainless steel materials. Structural performance is also evaluated for the various load combinations.

The finite element stress analysis of large sized rectangular water tank structures made of stainless steel materials is carried out for various combined load cases. The combined load cases for a large size of 5,000ton are further determined using the specification(KS B6283) established from the Korean Standards Association. The changed water capacity due to the size of reservoirs could be heavily dependent for evaluating seismic effects, especially for large reservoirs. For the better numerical efficiency, the rectangular panels are modelled using the ANSYS ADPL module. The numerical results obtained for different load cases mainly show the effect of the interactions between the different load combination and other various parameters, for example, the water capacity, and different stainless steel materials. The structural performance for various load combinations is also evaluated.
Small-scale wastewater discharge facilities account for 98% of all workplaces, but in the generation and emission of major pollutants, they account for 27.5 % and 23.5 %, respectively. Since the proportion of the emission load of the small-scale workplace is not large, the national environmental policy has been established mainly around large-scale wastewater discharge facilities. However, in the case of specific hazardous substances in water, the amount of the discharge load of the small-scale wastewater discharge facility was 2.4 times higher than that of the generation load. Certain types of specific hazardous substances in water, which have a higher discharge load than large-scale wastewater discharge facilities, account for 24 ~ 32 %. There are also cases in which the discharge load from a small-scale discharge facility is more than four times higher, depending on the specific kind of water pollutant. As a result of inspections, the violation rate of the small-scale wastewater discharge facility among the total violations by facilities is 93.9 ~ 97.5 %. As a result, the ecotoxicity value of small-scale wastewater discharge facilities was high in most industries, and there was a fluctuation in the measured value. This indicates that the ecological integrity of the water system can be largely influenced by small-scale wastewater discharge facilities. Therefore, it is necessary to expand the environmental management of small-scale wastewater discharge facilities, and in some cases, the effect of the improvement in quality may be more significant than in the management of large-scale wastewater discharge facilities.

This paper focuses on the study of complete dynamic modeling and maximum dynamic load carrying capacity computation of N-flexible links and N-flexible joints mobile manipulator undergoing large deformation. Nonlinear dynamic analysis relies on the Timoshenko theory of beams. In order to model the system completely and precisely, structural and joint flexibility, nonlinear strain-displacement relationship, payload, and non-holonomic constraints will be considered to. A finite element solution method based on mixed method is applied to model the shear deformation. This procedure is considerably more involved than displacement based element and shear deformation can be readily included without inducing the shear locking in the element. Another goal of this paper is to present a computational procedure for determination of the maximum dynamic load of geometrically nonlinear manipulators with structural and joint flexibility. An effective measure named as Moment-Height Stability (MHS) measure is applied to consider the dynamic stability of a wheeled mobile manipulator. Simulations are performed for mobile base manipulator with two flexible links and joints. The results represent that dynamic stability constraint is sensitive when calculating the maximum carrying load. Furthermore, by changing the trajectory of end effector, allowable load also changes. The effect of torsional spring parameter on the joint deformation is investigated in a parametric sensitivity study. The findings show that, by the increase of torsional stiffness, the behavior of system approaches to a system with rigid joints and allowable load of robot is also enhanced. A comparison is also made between the results obtained from small and large deformation models. Fluctuation range in obtained figures for angular displacement of links and end effector path is bigger for large deformation model. Experimental results are also provided to validate the theoretical model and these have good agreement with the simulated results.
