Objectives: The Purpose was to investigate the effects of the '5&6 smoking cessation program' and '5 days smoking cessation program' on the high school student's perception, urine cotinine, and smoking behaviors. Methods: This study was designed using nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest. The '5&6 smoking cessation program' was applied to the experimental group 1(28 students). The '5 days smoking cessation program' was applied to the experimental group 2(19 students). Control group was 53 students. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, $X^2$-test, Fisher's exact test, Independent-sample t-test, Paired t-test, ANOVA, Wilcoxon signed ranks test, Cronbach's coefficient alpha. Results: The '5&6 program' was significantly increased on smoking self-efficacy, stage of smoking cessation behavior change, Cons. for smoking and significantly decreased on daily smoking amount, urine cotinine level than control group. The '5 days program' was significantly decreased on urine cotinine level and Pros. for smoking than control group. The '5&6 program' was significantly increased on stage of smoking cessation behavior change than '5 days program'. Conclusion: This study showed that the '5&6 program and the '5 days program' are effective in adolescent's smoking cessation behaviors.

Experimental group had 24 students, control group had 41 students. The '5&6 smoking cessation program' was applied to the experimental group for two hours per session during five weeks. Data analysis was done using descriptive statistics, X2-test, Fisher's exact test, Independent-samples t-test, Paired t-test, Cronbach's coefficient alpha. Results: The experimental group showed significant increase on smoking self-efficacy, stage of smoking cessation behavior change and significant decrease on daily smoking amount, dependancy of nicotine, urine cotinine level than control group. But the experimental group was not significantly changed at self-awareness, Pros. for smoking and Cons. for smoking. Conclusion: In conclusion, the results of this study showed that the 5&6 smoking cessation program, which focuses on self-awareness, is effective in adolescent's smoking cessation behaviors.
Purpose: This study was to compare the stop-smoking rate and nicotine dependency for an adult smoker after implementing the smoking cessation program. Method: Fourty-six adult smokers participated. Self report questionnaire and telephone interview were conducted at the pretest, 6 months later, 1 year later, 2 years later, 3 years later. Result: 1. Stop-smoking rate of smoking cessation program participants was 43.5% 6 months later, 35.6% 1 year later, 24.4% 2 years later, 45.5% 3 years later. 2. The mean of nicotine dependency for continuing smokers was significantly decreased 6 months later(paired-t=4.719, p=.000). 3. The mean of nicotine dependency for continuing smokers was significantly decreased 1 year later(pired-t=4.296=.000). 4. The mean of nicotine dependency for continuing smokers was significantly decreased 2 years later(paired-t=2.778. p=.000). 5. The mean of nicotine dependency for continuing smokers was significantly decreased 3 years later(paired-t=2.795. p=.000). Conclusion: The smoking cessation program was effective to induce cessation in the adult smoker, and to decrease nicotine dependency in the continuing adult smoker.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of a community-based group smoking cessation program among adult smokers in a rural community. Method: The study design was quasi-experimental with a pre and posttest. A total of 55 adult smokers participated in the study. They were evaluated 1, 3, and 6 months after the program to identify the long-term effectiveness of the program. The program consisted of a total of 5 sessions provided twice a week. To test the effectiveness of the program, urine creatinine, expired air carbon monoxide, nicotine dependence, and smoking-related knowledge were used as dependent variables. Data was analyzed with the SPSS 10.0 program with a t-test, paired t-test, and Scheffe test. Result: Urine creatinine, expired air carbon monoxide, and nicotine dependence were significantly decreased after the program. Also, the rates of continuous abstinence were 81.8% at posttest, 65.5% at 1 month, 54.5% at 3 months, and 54.5% at 6 months follow-up. Conclusion: This community-based group smoking cessation program implemented by a nurse and smoking cessation counselors was effective for quitting smoking and decreasing urine creatinine and nicotine dependence. Therefore, this smoking cessation program could be recommended to induce smoking cessation as health promotion management in the rural community.

Objectives: Subjects of this study were technical high school students. It researched students' smoking status, smoking attitude, smoking perception and willingness to quit smoking, providing them with a five-day-smoking cessation program. Methods: Data collection proceeded from April to August 2008. The subjects were the whole number, 38 students, of 1EA technical high school located. The subjects who attended the smoking cessation program were the first and second grade students of the high school whom classroom teachers recommended. As to the subject, I comparatively analyzed differences between the before and after instruction, between after instruction and after consecutive consulting, and between before instruction and after consecutive consulting. The five-day-smoking cessation program took 2 successive hours a day for five days. Results: Average age for them to start smoking was 13.6 and to form smoking habits was 15.5. Average smoking period was 31.6 months and average smoking quantity was 11.2 cigarettes. As a result of the five-days smoking cessation program, 10.5% of the participants quit smoking and smoking quantity also significantly reduced. After instruction, willingness to quit smoking was generally higher than before. Smoking attitude, especially toward adolescent smoking, changed to be more negative than before. Perception of smoking also changed to be positive. Conclusions: The results from the comparative analysis of before and after instruction revealed a decrease on smoking quantity of the participants who attended the smoking cessation program. It also showed a significant change on smoking attitude, willingness to quit smoking and smoking perception.

This study was conducted to identify the factors related to the patient demographics and smoking factors on smoking cessation success and maintenance of subjects at the 6th and 12th week at a public hospital. This study utilized secondary data collected through the smoking cessation program of the 2014 public health care program, which is mediated for 6 weeks and checked for maintenance on the 12th week. The data were analyzed by the chi-square test, t-test and logistic regression analysis. There were 90 subjects in total, 85 men (94.45%) and 5 women (5.55%). The smoking success group and smoking failure group showed significant differences in family type (${\chi}^2=4.496$, p=0.037), education (${\chi}^2=12.253$, p=0.002), smoking amount per day before program (t=-2.906, p=0.005), and nicotine dependence before program (t=-3.081, p=0.003) after 6 weeks. Factors influencing smoking cessation success were religion (OR=3.719, 95% CI=1.076-12.859) and nicotine dependence before program (OR=0.713, 95% CI=0.520-0.976). Factors influencing smoking cessation maintenance were family type (OR=0.017, 95% CI=0.001-0.507) and no-smoking willingness (OR=2.062, 95% CI=1.059-4.015). For smoking cessation to be successful and sustainable, it is necessary to develop programs specific for the characteristics of the subjects; accordingly, continuous research and support are needed.

This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of smoking prevention smoking cessation program using smoking cessation supporters on the smoking knowledge and beliefs and self-efficacy of smoking cessation of nursing students. The smoking prevention and smoking cessation program developed for this study consisted of general education on smoking (8 times for 30 minutes each time) and the activities of college student smoking cessation supporters. The 30 college student smoking cessation supporters consisted of 6 people per team, a total of 5 teams, and conducted online video promotions by team, smoking cessation promotion and campaign activities, recruiting and mentoring for smoking cessation challengers. As a result of the study, smoking prevention and smoking cessation programs using smoking cessation supporters were effective in increasing nursing students' smoking knowledge and changing their beliefs about smoking negatively. In particular, by understanding the awareness and overall situation of smoking among nursing students, and operating a smoking prevention and smoking cessation program, it made them realize that smoking prevention and secondhand smoke among non-smokers are threatening the health of others. It contributed to the spread of the smoking cessation culture in the university by providing a way to motivate people to quit smoking and to maintain their success in quitting smoking.

Objectives: This study Development of a healthy college life, and effective for smoking cessation programs for education is to utilize as a basis for. Methods: The study employs frequency analysis, cross-analysis and correlation analysis through SPSS Win 17.0 on 296 (84.6% of total participants) from the entire participants of 350. The significance test is delivered with ${\chi}^2$-test. Results: 1) The participants consist of 47.7% (147) males and 52.3% (161) females. 78.2% (241) has experience of smoking cessation program at high school. 61.7% (190) has parents who are smoking. 40.9% (126) answers that they are currently smoking while 59.1% (182) answers that they are not. 2) When asked about their perception on quitting smoking, 81.2% (250) says that non-smokers are distressed by others' smoking. 74.0% (228) has unpleasant experience with cigarette smoke. 3) The analysis of the relation between smoking cessation program at high school and smoking shows that 63.8% of the ones who have experience of the program are non-smokers while 68.7% of those with no experience of the program are smokers. 4) Among those who have tried to quit smoking, 73.9% have experience of smoking cessation program at high school. 31.8% of these participants also reveal their interest in the cessation program. 5) In the analysis of the correlation between smoking habits, the experience of smoking cessation program at high school is closely related to non-smoking while current smoking habit is highly related to the strong interest in participation of cessation program. Also, the more interest they have in participating, the stronger needs they feel for smoking prevention program at college. Conclusion: Therefore, the last phase of education-related courses at the University of educated and credits granted through open non-smoking pledge, non-smoking club, non-smoking camps, training programs, such as smoking in non-smoking education and programs for students interested in openness and participation must be done will.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the smoking behavior and to provide the basic data required to develop a smoking cessation program. The study subjects were 407 industrial workers in Jecheon. The data were collected using a structured questionnaire. The data were analyzed by the SPSS 10.0 system using descriptive statistics, t-test, and Chi-square test. The study results were as follows 1. Current smokers were $64.0\%$, ex-smokers were $19.1\%$. and non-smokers were $16.9\%$. 2. The most common motives of smoking were anger. anxiety, depression. and stress in the workplace. 3. In smoking habits, about $65.1\%$ of the current smokers smoked 11-20 cigarettes/day, and $91.0\%$ had smoked for more than 5 years. The smoking areas of the workplace were outdoor $37.9\%,\;rest\;room\;34.2\%,\; lobby\;23.0\%,\;corridor\;21.4\%,\;and\;office\;8.6\%$. 4. Regarding smoking cessation, $78.2\%$ of current smokers had attempted. The frequency of smoking cessation attempts was 1-3 or less in $67.2\%$ of smokers. The duration of smoking cessation was 1-3 month or less in $61.6\%$ of the smokers. 5. The mean score for smoking knowledge was 17.62, smoking attitude 75.74. and perceived health state 12.27. 6. There were significant differences between smokers and non-smokers 10 smoking attitude (t=5.29, p=0.00), and perceived health state(t=6.47, p=0.00). 7. As a result of the homogeneity test, both types of smoking and perceived health state proved to have significant differences in the change of health state compared with 4 weeks ago'$(x^2=20.26,\;p=0.00)$ and the level of satisfaction of health state in activities of daily living'$(x^2=15.47,\; p=0.05)$. The important findings of this study showed that a smoking cessation program needs to be developed to enhance the negative smoking attitude. to promote the perceived health state through smoking cessation, to encourage the intention of smoking cessation, and to develop strategies of stress management.
Objectives: The purpose of the study is to investigate the knowledge, attitudes, and needs of smoking cessation education in the dental hygienists. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was completed by 262 dental hygienists in Seoul and Gyeonggido from September 25 to December 31, 2015. Except incomplete answers, 250 data were analyzed using Stata 13.0 program. The questionnaire was adapted and modified from Kim and Yoon and was measured by Likert 3 or 5 point scale. The questionnaire consisted of general characteristics of the subjects(6 items), smoking cessation education characteristics of the subjects(4 items), knowledge of smoking cessation education (11 items), attitudes of smoking cessation education(9 items), and needs of smoking cessation education(11 items). Results: Those who said yes in smoking cessation education had higher scores in knowledge (p=0.001), attitudes (p<0.001) and needs of education (p=0.010). Those receiving smoking cessation education higher score in knowledge of smoking cessation education (p=0.017). The dental hygienists working in clinics that practice smoking cessation therapy program tended to have higher level of attitudes toward smoking cessation(p=0.030). The average scores for 11 items to assess knowledge of smoking cessation education and another 11 items to assess the need for smoking cessation education were $2.18{\pm}0.40$ out of 3 and $4.62{\pm}0.49$ out of 5, respectively. Conclusions: The smoking cessation education is very important to improve the knowledge, attitudes, and need of smoking cessation in the dental hygienists.
