상압소결(常壓燒結)한 $SiC-ZrB_2$ 전도성(電導性) 복합체(複合體)의 미세구조(微細構造)와 특성(特性)에 미치는 In Situ YAG의 영향(影響) (Effect of In Situ YAG on Microstructure and Properties of the Pressureless-Sintered $SiC-ZrB_2$ Electroconductive Ceramic Composites)

  • The present study investigated the influence of the content of $Al_2O_3+Y_2O_3$ sintering additives on the microstructure, mechanical and electrical properties of the pressureless-sintered $SiC-ZrB_2$ electroconductive ceramic composites. Phase analysis of composites by XRD revealed mostly of ${\alpha}-SiC(4H),\;ZrB_2,\;{\beta}-SiC(15R)$ and In Situ $YAG(Al_5Y_3O_{12})$. The relative density and the flexural strength showed the highest value of 86.8[%] and 203[Mpa] for $SiC-ZrB_2$ composite with an addition of 8[wt%] $Al_2O_3+Y_2O_3$ as a sintering aid at room temperature respectively. Owing to crack deflection and crack bridging of fracture toughness mechanism, the fracture toughness showed 3.7 and $3.6[MPa{\cdot}m^{1/2}]\;for\;SiC-ZrB_2$ composites with an addition of 8 and 12[wt%] $Al_2O_3+Y_2O_3$ as a sintering aid at room temperature respectively. Abnormal grain growth takes place during phase transformation from ${\beta}-SiC\;into\;{\alpha}-SiC$ was correlated with In Situ YAG phase by reaction between $Al_2O_3\;and\;Y_2O_3$ additives during sintering. The electrical resistivity showed the lowest value of $6.5{\times}10^{-3}[({\Omega}{\cdot}cm]$ for the $SiC-ZrB_2$ composite with an addition of 8[wt%] $Al_2O_3+Y_2O_3$ as a sintering aid at room temperature. The electrical resistivity of the $SiC-ZrB_2$ composites was all positive temperature coefficient(PTCR) in the temperature ranges from $25[^{\circ}C]\;to\;700[^{\circ}C]$. The resistance temperature coefficient showed the highest value of $3.53{\times}10^{-3}/[^{\circ}C]\;for\;SiC-ZrB_2$ composite with an addition of 8[wt%] $Al_2O_3+Y_2O_3$ as a sintering aid in the temperature ranges from $25[^{\circ}C]\;to\;700[^{\circ}C]$. In this paper, it is convinced that ${\beta}-SiC$ based electroconductive ceramic composites for heaters or ignitors can be manufactured by pressureless sintering.

가바펜틴 800밀리그람 정제의 생물학적동등성시험 (Bioequivalence Test of Gabapentin 800 mg Tablets)

  • Gabapentin, 1-(aminomethyl) cyclohexaneacetic acid, is a amino acid derivative, and is clinically effective in the treatment of neuropathic pain and partial seizures of epilepsy as a complementary therapy. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the bioequivalence of two gabapentin tablets, $Neurontin^{R}$ tablet 800 mg (Pfizer Pharmaceuticals Co., Ltd.) and Gabapenin tablet 800 mg (Hanmi Pharm. Co., Ltd.), according to the guidelines of the Korea Food and Drug Administration (KFDA). The release of gabapentin from the two gabapentin formulations in vitro was tested using KP VIII Apparatus II method with 0.06 M HCI dissolution media. Twenty six healthy male subjects, $23.85{\pm}2.24$ years in age and $69.40{\pm}11.11$ kg in body weight, were divided into two groups and a randomized $2{\times}2$ crossover study was employed. After a single tablet containing 800 mg as gabapentin was orally administered, blood samples were taken at predetermined time intervals and the concentrations of gabapentin in serum were determined using HPLC with fluorescence detector. The dissolution profiles of two formulations were similar in the tested dissolution media. The pharmacokinetic parameters such as $AUC_{t}$, $C_{max}$ and $T_{max}$ were calculated, and ANOVA test was utilized for the statistical analysis of the parameters using logarithmically transformed $AUC_{t}$, $C_{max}$ and untransformed $T_{max}$. The results showed that the differences between two formulations based on the reference drug, $Neurontin^{R}$, were 1.28%, 0.63% and 0.62% for $AUC_{t}$, $C_{max}$ and $T_{max}$, respectively. There were no sequence effects between two formulations in these parameters. The 90% confidence intervals using logarithmically transformed data were within the acceptance range of log 0.8 to log 1.25 (e.g., $log0.9097{\sim}log1.1598$ and $log0.8919{\sim}log1.1262$ for $AUC_{t}$ and $C_{max}$, respectively). Thus, the criteria of the KFDA bioequivalence guideline were satisfied, indicating Gabapenin tablet 800 mg was bioequivalent to $Neurontin^{R}$ tablet 800 mg.

DETECTION AND MASKING OF CLOUD CONTAMINATION IN HIGH-RESOLUTION SST IMAGERY: A PRACTICAL AND EFFECTIVE METHOD FOR AUTOMATION

  • Coarse resolution (9 - 50 km pixels) Sea Surface Temperature satellite data are frequently considered adequate for open ocean research. However, coastal regions, including coral reef, estuarine and mesoscale upwelling regions require high-resolution (1-km pixel) SST data. The AVHRR SST data often suffer from navigation errors of several kilometres and still require manual navigation adjustments. The second serious problem is faulty and ineffective cloud-detection algorithms used operationally; many of these are based on radiance thresholds and moving window tests. With these methods, increasing sensitivity leads to masking of valid pixels. These errors lead to significant cold pixel biases and hamper image compositing, anomaly detection, and time-series analysis. Here, after manual navigation of over 40,000 AVHRR images, we implemented a new cloud filter that differs from other published methods. The filter first compares a pixel value with a climatological value built from the historical database, and then tests it against a time-based median value derived for that pixel from all satellite passes collected within ${\pm}3$ days. If the difference is larger than a predefined threshold, the pixel is flagged as cloud. We tested the method and compared to in situ SST from several shallow water buoys in the Florida Keys. Cloud statistics from all satellite sensors (AVHRR, MODIS) shows that a climatology filter with a $4^{\circ}C$ threshold and a median filter threshold of $2^{\circ}C$ are effective and accurate to filter clouds without masking good data. RMS difference between concurrent in situ and satellite SST data for the shallow waters (< 10 m bottom depth) is < $1^{\circ}C$, with only a small bias. The filter has been applied to the entire series of high-resolution SST data since1993 (including MODIS SST data since 2003), and a climatology is constructed to serve as the baseline to detect anomaly events.

Compound K induced apoptosis via endoplasmic reticulum Ca2+ release through ryanodine receptor in human lung cancer cells

  • Background: Extended endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress may initiate apoptotic pathways in cancer cells, and ER stress has been reported to possibly increase tumor death in cancer therapy. We previously reported that caspase-8 played an important role in compound K-induced apoptosis via activation of caspase-3 directly or indirectly through Bid cleavage, cytochrome c release, and caspase-9 activation in HL-60 human leukemia cells. The mechanisms leading to apoptosis in A549 and SK-MES-1 human lung cancer cells and the role of ER stress have not yet been understood. Methods: The apoptotic effects of compound K were analyzed using flow cytometry, and the changes in protein levels were determined using Western blot analysis. The intracellular calcium levels were monitored by staining with Fura-2/AM and Fluo-3/AM. Results: Compound K-induced ER stress was confirmed through increased phosphorylation of $eIF2{\alpha}$ and protein levels of GRP78/BiP, XBP-1S, and $IRE1{\alpha}$ in human lung cancer cells. Moreover, compound-K led to the accumulation of intracellular calcium and an increase in m-calpain activities that were both significantly inhibited by pretreatment either with BAPTA-AM (an intracellular $Ca^{2+}$ chelator) or dantrolene (an RyR channel antagonist). These results were correlated with the outcome that compound K induced ER stress-related apoptosis through caspase-12, as z-ATAD-fmk (a specific inhibitor of caspase-12) partially ameliorated this effect. Interestingly, 4-PBA (ER stress inhibitor) dramatically improved the compound K-induced apoptosis. Conclusion: Cell survival and intracellular $Ca^{2+}$ homeostasis during ER stress in human lung cancer cells are important factors in the induction of the compound K-induced apoptotic pathway.

D댐수를 이용한 정밀여과 공정에서 막오염 특성 및 최적 화학세정방법 조사 (Characterization of Membrane Fouling and It's Optimal Chemical Cleaning Method in MF Process using D dam water)

  • The purposes of this study were to find the main foulant of membrane and the optimal chemical cleaning method for MF(microfiltration) drinking water treatment system using D dam water as water source. The MF pilot plant which can treat maximum $500m^3/d$ consisted of 3 racks and was operated for 10 months under various operation conditions. After 10 months operation, $1^{st}$ and $2^{nd}$ rack of membrane pilot plant system were cleaned chemically and the degree of the restoration of the fouled membrane in terms of the pure water flux was detemnined. Inorganic compounds which contained in chemical cleaning waste was analyzed by Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP). One membrane module for 3rd rack was disjointed and membrane fouling materials, especially inorganic compounds were investigated by Electron Probe Microanlysis (EPMA) to elucidate the reason of TMP increase. And also, the various chemical reagents (1N HCl or $H_2SO_4$, oxalic acid as acid and 0.3% NaOCl as alkali) were tested by combination of acid and alkali to determine the optimal chemical cleaning method for the MF system using micro-modules manufactured using the disjointed module. It was verified that the inside and outside of membrane module was colorized with black. As a result of the quantitative and semi-qualitative analysis of membrane foulant by ICP, most of inorganic foulant was manganese which is hard to remove by inorganic acid such as HCI. Especially, it was observed by EPMA that Mn was attached more seriously in inside surface of membrane than in outside surface of that. It was supposed that Mn fouling in inside surface of membrane might be caused by the oxidation of soluble manganese (Mn(II)) to insoluble manganese ($MnO_2$) by chlorine containing in backwashing water. The optimal cleaning method for the removal of manganese fouling was consecutive cleaning with the mixture of 1N HCl and 1% of oxalic acid, 0.3% NaOCl, and 1N HCl showing 91% of the restoration of the fouled membrane.

홍수유출해석을 위한 Hydro-BEAM모형의 개선 (Modification of Hydro-BEAM Model for Flood Discharge Analysis)

  • 지금까지 분포형 모형 개발에 대한 많은 노력이 있음에도 불구하고 여러 제약사항들에 의해 잠재력을 보여주는 정도로 활용되어 왔으나, 최근 급속도로 발전하는 컴퓨터의 계산능력, DEM 등 디지털정보의 구축이 진행되어 오고 있고, GIS 및 인공위성 영상기법의 발달로 공간적인 비균질성을 고려하여 유출과정에서 운동역학적인 이론을 기반으로 물의 흐름을 수리학적으로 추적해 나가는 물리적기반의 분포형 유출모형의 활용도가 높아지고 있다. 본 모형개발에 있어 이론적 배경이 된 모형은 1998년부터 일본 교토대학 방재연구소 코지리 연구실에서 개발 중인 Hydro-BEAM으로 유역 물순환의 건전성을 평가하기 위하여 장기간의 유역 내 유량, 수질을 시계열 및 공간적으로 파악하여 유역의 영향평가를 위해 개발된 물리적 기반의 격자구조를 가진 분포형 장기유출 모형이다. 유출량 계산은 유역내 수평 유출량산정 모듈로서 평면 분포형의 격자형을, 연직 분포형으로는 $A{\sim}B$층의 수평유출량은 하천으로 유입하고, C층은 하천유량에 영향을 미치지 않는 지하수층으로 가정하는 다층모형을 이용해서 A층, 지표 및 하도흐름은 운동파 법(kinematic wave)으로, $B{\sim}C$층의 유출량은 선형저류법으로 계산하는 모형이다. 본 연구에서는 격자흐름방향을 4방향에서 8방향으로 개선하였고, 모형의 각종 수문매개변수들을 GIS와 연계하여 직접 입력할 수 있도록 하였으며, 물리적기반의 침투과정을 모의할 수 있도록 Green & Ampt모듈을 추가하고, 향후 레이더 강우 및 수치예보강우의 홍수유출예측을 염두에 두고 격자강우량을 활용할 수 있도록 하는 등 홍수유출해석을 위한 분포형 강우-유출모형으로 개선 하였고, 이를 남강댐유역에 적용해 봄으로써 모형의 적용성을 검토해 보고자 하였다. 홍수기동안의 지표흐름과 지표하 흐름의 시간적 변화와 공간적 분포를 모의할 수 있었으며, 전처리과정으로서 ArcGIS 혹은 ArcView등의 GIS 프로그램을 이용하여 모형에 필요한 ASCII형태의 입력 매개 변수 자료들을 가공하였다. 또한 후처리과정으로서 모형의 수행결과인 유역내의 유출량 분포 등을 GIS상에서 나타낼 수 있도록 ASCII형태로 출력하도록 구성하였다. 남강댐유역을 대상으로 유역을 500m의 정방형 격자로 분할하고 수계망을 통하여 유역 출구까지 운동파이론에 의해 추적 계산하였으며, 수문곡선 비교결과 재현성 높은 결과를 보여주었다. 모형의 정확성 및 실용성에 대한 보다 정확한 평가를 위해서는 향후 다양한 강우 사상 혹은 다양한 크기의 유역에 대한 유출량의 재현성 및 매개변수 등에 검증이 이루어져야 할 것이다.

SWAT-CUP을 이용한 대청호 유역 장기 유출 유량 보정 및 검증 (Flow Calibration and Validation of Daechung Lake Watershed, Korea Using SWAT-CUP)

  • 본 연구에서는 용담댐 하류부터 대청댐상류까지 총 유역면적 3108.29 $km^2$ 유역을 대상으로 SWAT 모델을 적용하여 유출유량모의를 실시하는데 있어서최적의매개변수를추정하는방법을보고하고있다. SWAT 모델의 모의를 위해서는 방대한 양의 매개변수가 요구되며 이러한 매개변수의 최적값을 산정하는 것은 어려운 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 SWAT-CUP에서 제공하는 4가지 통계 알고리즘 중에서 GLUE와 SUFI-2의 2가지 내부 프로그램을 이용하여 각각 2,000회의 반복계산 결과를 통해 SWAT 모델을 최적으로 보정하기 위한 매개변수를 산정하고자 하였다. SUFI-2 및 GLUE 적용결과 선정된 매개변수 값에 의한 유출 결과는 실측 유량값과 비교하였을 때, NS (Nash-Sutcliffe) 값과 $R^2$값은 각각, 0.87 및 0.89 범위로 거의 같으며 두 가지 방법 모두 매우 우수한 모의결과를 나타내었다. RMSE, MSE 값 또한 거의 유사한 값을 나타내어 두 프로그램의 성능은 차이를 나타내지 않은 것으로 판단된다. SWAT-CUP 프로그램은 국내에서 현재까지 적용사례가 많지 않으나, 방대한 매개변수를 필요로 하고, 보정시 많은 시간과 반복 작업을 필요로 하는 모델을 보정하는 경우에 특히 효과적으로 사용될 수 있을 것으로 판단되며, 모델 사용이 익숙하지 않는 경우에도 유용하게 사용될 수 있을 것으로 보인다.

Outcome of postoperative radiotherapy following radical prostatectomy: a single institutional experience

  • Purpose: This single institutional study is aimed to observe the outcome of patients who received postoperative radiotherapy after radical prostatectomy. Materials and Methods: A total of 59 men with histologically identified prostate adenocarcinoma who had received postoperative radiation after radical prostatectomy from August 2005 to July 2011 in Seoul St. Mary's Hospital of the Catholic University of Korea, was included. They received 45-50 Gy to the pelvis and boost on the prostate bed was given up to total dose of 63-72 Gy (median, 64.8 Gy) in conventional fractionation. The proportion of patients given hormonal therapy and the pattern in which it was given were analyzed. Primary endpoint was biochemical relapse-free survival (bRFS) after radiotherapy completion. Secondary endpoint was overall survival (OS). Biochemical relapse was defined as a prostate-specific antigen level above 0.2 ng/mL. Results: After median follow-up of 53 months (range, 0 to 104 months), the 5-year bRFS of all patients was estimated 80.4%. The 5-year OS was estimated 96.6%. Patients who were given androgen deprivation therapy had a 5-year bRFS of 95.1% while the ones who were not given any had that of 40.0% (p < 0.01). However, the statistical significance in survival difference did not persist in multivariate analysis. The 3-year actuarial grade 3 chronic toxicity was 1.7% and no grade 3 acute toxicity was observed. Conclusion: The biochemical and toxicity outcome of post-radical prostatectomy radiotherapy in our institution is favorable and comparable to those of other studies.

우간다의 Human Trypanosomiasis 대유행(大流行)에 관한 역학적(疫學的) 관찰(觀察) (Epidemiological Observation on the Current Epidemic of Human Trypanosomiasis in Uganda)

  • The first recorded trypanosomiasis epidemic in Uganda took place at the beginning of this century in the islands and in a strip along the northern shores of Lake Victoria, which resulted in deaths of 1/3 million people. The disease was partly controlled by early 1930's and continued to occur sporadically in certain localized foci. The disease has however flared up in an explosive outbreak in Busoga district along Lake Victoria since 1977. The incidence of disease in northern district adjacent to Southern Sudan is also increasing lately. This paper describes the three month observation on the surveillance and control activities in the epidemic areas and of various health units including the Vector Control Division, the Tsetse fly Control Division, Tororo Trypanosomiasis Research Institute, medical units in Busoga, and Acholi districts. Data analysis and review were made of disease information so far collected by various health units in the Ministry of Health and district health offices. The findings may be summarized in the following: 1) A total of 12, 100 patients and 38 deaths: have occured in Busoga district since 1977 onward, and over 100 cases of diseases arc occuring in the Northern region bordering Southern Sudan. 2) the distribution of trypanosomiasis is characterized with two district patterns. The disease caused by Trypanosoma rhodesiense occurs in Busoga and is transmitted by Glossina palpalis, G. fuscipes infested in the islands and in the northern shore of forests of Lake Victoria. Another type caused by Trypanosoma gambiense occurs in Madi and Acholi in the north and is transmitted by Glossina morsitans in Savannah. 3) The house survey in Rusoga indicated that most of patients keep domestic animals in their house premises, and are engaging in either farming or fishing. Practically all the patients remembered that they had been bitten by tsetse in the field. 4) The routine diagnostic methods in the hospital laboratory is carried out through the microscopic examination of trypanosome with Giemsa stain of blood and cerebro-spinal fluid, The measurement of ESR and IgM has been used by Tororo Tryponosomiasis Research Institute for field screening.

자폐아동 어머니의 스트레스에 대한 연구 (A STUDY ON THE STRESS IN MOTHER OF AUTISTIC CHILDREN)

  • 본 연구는 자폐아 어머니 160명을 대상으로 자폐아 어머니의 스트레스와 스트레스 정도에 영향을 끼치는 자폐아 어머니와 아동의 특성을 파악하여, 자폐아 어머니를 위한 간호전략 수립을 위한 기초 자료를 제공하는데 그 목적을 두고 본 연구를 시도하였다. 이를 위하여 본 연구자가 개발한 자폐아 어머니의 스트레스에 관한 도구는, 어머니의 일상 생활에 관련된 스트레스(11문항),어머니의 가족, 사회적 관계 에서의 스트레스(26문항), 아이의 장애 원인, 치료, 교육 및 예후에 관련된 스트레스 (28문항) 및 어머니의 부정적 심리 상태에 관련된 스트레스(9문항) 등 74개 문항으로 구성되어 있으며 도구 신뢰도는 Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ =0.94였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다1) 자폐아 어머니의 스트레스 정도는 영역별로 볼 때 장애원인, 치료, 교육 및 예후에 관련된 스트레스 평점이 3.19로 가장 높았으며 어머니의 부정적 심리상태에 관련된 스트레스 평점은 2.85, 어머니의 일상생활애 관련된 스트레스 평점은 2.45,그리고 가족, 사회적 관계에서의 스트레스 평점은 2.05의 순으로 나타났다. 2) 총 74개의 스트레스 항목 인지정도의 평점은 2.62였다 스트레스 정도가 가장 높게 인지된 항목은 '자폐아에 대한 사회의 이해가 부족하다', '부모가 사망한다면 누가 이 아이를 돌볼 수 있을지 걱정이다', '아이가 성장함에 따라 단계적으로 교육받을 수 있는 시설이 없다' 등이었으며, 낮은 스트레스로 인지된 항목은 '남편이 아이를 미워한다', '남편과 이혼하고 싶다' 등이었다. 3) 자폐아 어머니 특성 중에서 자녀의 수, 아이 문제에 대한 인지 정도는 스트레스 정도에 유의한 차이를 나타내었는데 자녀의 수가 많을수록, 문제 인지가 심할수록 어머니가 느끼는 스트레스가 높았다.
