Purpose: This research was for understanding the attitudinal difference by gender towards emotional design through questionnaire survey with female and male inpatients on environmental characteristics of wards in general hospitals. Methods: The survey was conducted by questioning inpatients at two general hospitals on the importance rating on emotional design elements of patient rooms, lounges, and hallways. Eighty questionnaires were returned and used for data analyses through SPSS windows version 15.0 statistic package program. Results: 1) In general, female patients considered emotional design of wards as more important than male patients and the most outstanding difference was indicated for patient rooms among patient rooms, lounges, and hallways. For patient rooms the comfortability index was rated as the most important to both female and male inpatient groups, and for lounges and hallways the safety index was evaluated as the most important to both gender groups. 2)For lounges, while male patients rated 'prevention of infection' important among safety relating items, women considered 'accident prevention' more important. It is inferred that female patients have more safety needs and anxiety about physical injury or accidents than male ones do. Implications: It is considered that there need to be further succeeding in-depth studies, e.g. research interviews with inpatient;s family members or other caregivers as well as patients themselves.

Nature park planning and management fields shall be considered as the main theme of green networking Parts. 3. Landscape Ecological studies should be connected to practical surveying data, e.g. the eco-maps published by Environment Ministry. Traditional culture and science should be joined with the modem science. 4. Eco-corridor planning will go with the scenarios and theories of watershed ecology. 5. Urban forestry shall be studied with the wildlife's behavior and habitat. 6. Restoration engineering techniques should be reconsidered with the wildlife's existence and environmental affiliation.
An efficient solution algorithm for simulating free surface problem is presented. Navier-Stokes equations for variable density incompressible flow are employed as the governing equation on Cartesian meshes. In order to describe the free surface motion efficiently, VOF(Volume Of Fluid) method utilizing THINC(Tangent of Hyperbola for Interface Capturing) scheme is employed. The most time-consuming part of the current free surface flow simulations is the solution step of the linear system, derived by the pressure Poisson equation. To solve a pressure Poisson equation efficiently, the PCG(Preconditioned Conjugate Gradient) method is utilized. This study showed that the proper application of the preconditioner is the key for the efficient solution of the free surface flow when its pressure Poisson equation is solved by the CG method. To demonstrate the efficiency of the current approach, we compared the convergence histories of different algorithms for solving the pressure Poisson equation.
The submarine is an underwater weapon system which covertly attacks the enemy. Pressure hull of a submarine is a main system which has to have a capacity which can improve the survivability (e.g., protection of crews) from the high pressure and air pollution by a leakage of water, a fire caused by outside shock, explosion, and/or operational errors. In addition, pressure hull should keep the functional performance under the harsh environment. In this study, optimal design of submarine pressure hull is dealt with 7 case studies done by analytic method and then each result's adequacy is verified by numerical method such as Finite Element Analysis (FEA). For the structural analysis by FEM, material non-linearity and geometric non-linearity are considered. After FEA, the results by analytic method and numerical method are compared. Weight optimized pressure hull initial scantling methods are suggested such as a ratio with shell thickness, flange width, web height and/or relations with radius, yield strength and design pressure (DP). The suggested initial scantling formulae can reduce the pressure hull weight from 6% and 19%.

In the present work, we isolated and identified Aspergillus sydowii NYKA 510 as the most potent laccase producer. Its medium constituents were optimized to produce the highest possible amount of laccase, which was after 7 days at 31℃ and pH 5.2. Banana peel and peptone excelled in inducing laccase production at concentrations of 15.1 and 2.60 g/l, respectively. Addition of copper sulfate elevated enzyme yield to 145%. The fungus was employed in a microbial fuel cell (MFC). The best performance was obtained at 2000 Ω achieving 0.76 V, 380 mAm-2, 160 mWm-2, and 0.4 W. A project to design a self-sufficient lighting unit was implemented by employing a system of 2 sets of 4 MFCs each, connected in series, for electricity generation. A scanning electron microscopy image of A. sydowii NYKA 510 was utilized in algorithmic form generation equations for the design. The mixed patterning and patterned customized mass approach were developed by the authors and chosen for application in the design.
In this paper, hybrid fibers including high elastic modulus steel fiber and low elastic modulus synthetic macro-fiber (HPP) as two elements were used as reinforcement materials in concrete. The flexural toughness, flexural impact and fracture performance of the composites were investigated systematically. Flexural impact strength was analyzed with statistic analyses method; based on ASTM and JSCE method, an improved flexural toughness evaluating method suitable for concrete with synthetic macro-fiber was proposed herein. The experimental results showed that when the total fiber volume fractions ($V_f^a$) were kept as a constant ($V_f^a=1.5%$), compared with single type of steel or HPP fibers, hybrid fibers can significantly improve the toughness, flexural impact life and fracture properties of concrete. Relative residual strength RSI', impact ductile index ${\lambda}$ and fracture energy $G_F$ of concrete combined with hybrid fibers were respectively 66-80%, 5-12 and 121-137 N/m, which indicated that the synergistic effects (or combined effects) between steel fiber and synthetic macro-fiber were good.
The objective of this study is to investigate actual conditions of terrestrial vegetation part in Environmental impact statement, and to prepare a proposal for the efficiency of Environmental Impact Assessment. 13 E.I.S.s made out during 1996.6-1997.5. have been chosen and analysed with respect to scope of survey, item of survey, method of survey, and result of survey. Actual conditioins of terrestrial vegetation part in E.I.S. are summarized as follows : 1. The mean number of total participants in drawing up E.I.S. is 26.0 persons, that of participants in terrestrial vegetation part is 2.3 persons. 2. In case of planar project, the mean of scope of survey is 16.1 times as large as area of project . In case of linear project, the scope of survey has been determined arbitrarily. 3. The most part of survey has been dependent on literature, and field survey has been practically neglected. 4. Results of survey mostly missed the point that E.I.A. pursues. And proposals are as follows : 1. Participants in terrestrial vegetation part in drawing up E.I.S should be increased. 2. It is necessary to subdivide scope of survey in view of difference between planar project and linear project. 3. As for item and method of survey, field survey should be specially reinforced. 4. Several sheets of map as results of survey should be included in E.I.S. The vegetation map, the D.G.N. map, and the planting map should be included and drawn by smaller scale as possible.

This study was carried out to analyze both the root structure and the fine root phytomass of the vertical and horizontal distribution of Zelkova serrata Makino. which was transplanted in the reclaimed land from the sea in Gwangyang, Jeonnam, South Korea. The base ground was reclaimed land from the sea. $Z_1$ of the planting ground was filled to a $100{\sim}150cm$ thickness with the improved soil instead of the reclaimed soil from the sea, $Z_2$ of the planting ground was covered to a $20{\sim}30cm$ thickness with the improved soil and $Z_3$ of the planting ground was mounded to 120cm thickness with the improved soil on the reclaimed land from the sea. In addition, $Z_4,\;Z_5\;and\;Z_6$ of the planting grounds were at the large-sized mound on the reclaimed land from the sea. $Z_4$ of the planting ground was located at the lowest level, $Z_5$ planting ground was located at the slope and $Z_6$ planting ground was located at the top of the large-sized mound. The large-sized mounds contain 3 layers, the base layer was reclaimed land from the sea and the second layer was mounded to a $200{\sim}300cm$ thickness with the desalinized soil from the sea on the base layers and the finally layers were mounded to a $80{\sim}120cm$ thickness with improved soil on the second layer. The planting grounds $Z_3,\;Z_4,\;Z_5\;and\;Z_6$ developed roots such as tap roots, lateral roots and heart roots. However, in $Z_1\;and\;Z_2$ roots development were inhibited. The fine-root phytomass of the 6 planting ground types was as follows: $113.5g\;DM/m^2$ for $Z_5$, $105.5g\;DM/m^2$ for $Z_4$, $88.3g\;DM/m^2$ for $Z_3$, $81.0g\;DM/m^2$ for $Z_6$, $73.0g\;DM/m^2$ for $Z_2$, $43.3g\;DM/m^2$ for $Z_1$. The vertical distribution of the fine root phytomass decreased from the upper to the deeper soil profiles in the 6 mound types. The fine root phytomass was $43.3{\sim}71.8%$ in a $0{\sim}20cm$ thickness of soil layer and it decreased according to the distance from the nearest trees. The root growth in the improved soil was better than in the reclaimed soil from the sea. However, root growth decreased more in the disturbed soils even though the planting grounds contained the improved soils. The retarded development of roots and the spatial distribution patterns of the fine root phytomass were closely connected to the reclaimed soil from the sea. In the disturbed soil, the soil hardness and alkalic cation($Na^+,\;K^+,\;Ca^{2+},\;Mg^{2+}$). were high and the soil water was lacking. We suggest that the construction of planting grounds and the improvement of bad soil are necessary for the proper and effective growth of landscaping plants.
Purpose: G-SEED's evaluation of existing buildings in Korea is an important point because the energy consumption and CO2 emissions of existing buildings are continuously increasing due to the aging of buildings over time. In 2016, the government has set up a 'Green Remodeling Certification Standard' in G-SEED in order to revitalize the green remodeling business of existing buildings. As a result, G-SEED is distinguished between buildings with green remodeling and buildings with general remodeling. Therefore, this study analyzed the system of the certification of the green remodeling building which is aimed at improving the performance of the building. Method: First, we analyze characteristics of the existing building certification standards of G-SEED(Korea), LEED(USA), and BREEAM(UK). Second, the evaluation criteria are based on the G-SEED Green Remodeling Certification, 2016, LEED for BD + C: New construction and major renovation v.4, BREEAM UK Non-Domestic Refurbishment and Fit-out 2014. Based on the analysis results, we propose the improvement direction of G-SEED Green Remodeling Certification Standard. Result: Existing buildings should be classified into 'existing building certification' for re-certification and 'green remodeling certification' accompanied by building performance improvement. In addition, building green buildings through performance improvement should include not only energy performance, but also creating a pleasant indoor environment and minimizing environmental impact. Finally, existing buildings have accumulated information on energy and resource use, and a performance improvement plan should be established based on this information.
