In this paper, we investigated the degree of compensation for distorted optical pulse of wavelength division multiplexed(WDM) channel with initial frequency chirp generated in optical transmitter. The WDM channel signal distortion is due to chromatic dispersion, self phase modulation(SPM) and cross phase modulation(XPM) in fiber. The considered system is 3 ${\times}$ 40 Gbps intensity modulation direct detection(IM/DD) WDM transmission systems, which adopted mid-span spectral inversion(MSSI) as compensation method. We confirmed that the effect of initial frequency chirp on compensation for signal distortion due to a SPM is gradually decreased as a dispersion coefficient of fiber becomes gradually small. But, in the aspect of a compensation for signal distortion due to both SPM and XPM, the effect of initial frequency chirp on compensation is gradually decreased as a dispersion coefficient of fiber becomes gradually large.
The properties of the chirped fiber Bragg grating (CFBG) as a chromatic dispersion compensator in differential phase-shift-keyed (DPSK) transmission are analyzed. Comparisons of a performance of a CFBG in between DPSK and On-Off Key (OOK) are shown by simulations using the commercial numerical modeling software, $OptSim^{TM}$. In the simulation, we compared the performance of the CFBG when they were used in the RZ-OOK 40 Gbps and the RZ-DPSK 40 Gbps transmission. The simulation results show the performance of an overall transmission with a CFBG in DPSK is inferior to the case of OOK, although DPSK generally has a 3 dB higher SNR (signal-to-noise ratio) than OOK.

This paper presents a theoretical study of transmission performance for an optical duobinary transmitter employed a Mach-Zehnder modulator and a electrical low pass filter at 40Gbps optical communication links. It depends on the bandwidth of the low pass filter in the transmitter, the optical filter and the filter in the receiver. Also, each filter affected to the various parts of the optical power spectrum. By optimizing the bandwidth of each filter, we could control the side robes and the ripples and improve the dispersion tolerance of the transmission system.

The numerical methods of finding out the optimal position of optical phase conjugator (OPC) and the optimal fiber dispersions are prosed, which are able to effectively compensate overall channels in $8{\times}40Gbps$Gbps WDM system with non zero - dispersion shifted fiber (NZ-DSF) as an optical fiber. And BER characteristics in the system with two induced optimal parameters are compared with those in the system with the currently used mid-span spectral inversion (MSSI) in order to confirm the availability of the proposed methods. It is confirmed that the applying two induced optimal parameters into WDM system contribute to reduce power penalty to 4 times than that of WDM system with the conventional MSSI. Thus, the methods proposed in this research will be expected to alternate with the method of making a symmetrical distribution of power and local dispersion in real optical link which generates a serious problem if it was not made but it is the condition in the case of applying the OPC into multi-channels WDM system.

Post-dispersion compensation methods for the 3000 km long-haul transmission distance using 10 Gbps 40 wavelength division multiplexing channels were analyzed and compared. First, each channel was compensated by an individual dispersion value, next each group of eight channels by an individual value, and lastly all forty channels by a single value. Considering the lower and highest performance channels and their values, the post-dispersion compensation method by each channel group showed the possibility to simplify the transmission system without sacrifice of signal performance.

In an environment with a large network bandwidth, maximizing bandwidth utilization is an important issue to increase transmission efficiency. End-to-end transfer efficiency is significantly influenced by factors such as network, data transfer nodes, and intranet network security policies. Science DMZ is an innovative network architecture that maximizes transfer performance through optimal solution of these complex components. Among these, the data transfer node is a key factor that greatly affects the transfer performance depending on storage, network interface, operating system, and transfer application tool. However, tuning parameters constituting a data transfer node must be performed to provide high transfer efficiency. In this paper, we propose a method to enhance performance through tuning parameters of 100Gbps data transfer node. With experiment result, we confirmed that the transmission efficiency can be improved greatly in 100Gbps network environment through the tuning of Jumbo frame and CPU governor. The network performance test through Iperf showed improvement of 300% compared to the default state and NVMe SSD showed 140% performance improvement compared to hard disk.

In this paper, the new method alternating with the method for forming the symmetrical distribution of power and local dispersion in high bit-rate WDM system with optical phase conjugator (OPC) is proposed. The proposed method is carried by finding out the optimal values of OPC position offset and fiber dispersion offset. It is assumed to be that NRZ-formatted 24-channels of 40 Gbps are simultaneously propagated in WDM system with non zero - dispersion shifted fiber (NZ-DSF) of 1,000 km. It is confirmed that the compensation extents of overall WDM channels are more improved by applying the induced optimal values into WDM system than those in WDM system with the conventional mid-span spectral inversion (MSSI) technique, and the searching procedure of the optimal values makes little difference of performance if the optimal value of one parameter related with another parameter. And, it is confirmed that the flexible design of WDM system with OPC is possible by effectiviely using by these optimal values. Thus, it is expected that the proposed method alternate with the forming method of the symmetrical distributions of power and local dispersion.
High-quality transmission of $24{\times}40$ Gbps WDM signals obtained through controling residual dispersion per span (RDPS) in optical transmission links with zero net residual dispersion (NRD) of inline dispersion management (DM) of optical transmission links is researched. It is confirmed that RDPS values, which is improving system performance, depends on launch power of WDM channels, but optimal RDPS, which can simultaneously improve WDM signals with relative wide launch power ranges, becomes to be 210~230 ps/nm. Also, it is shown that effective launch power range that making eye opening penalty (EOP) of worst channel to below 1 dB is more increased as RDPS is more increased.
The implementation possibility and increasement of transmission distance of 1 Tbps WDM transmission systems through the applying optical link configuration with inline dispersion management (DM) and optical phase conjugator (OPC) is investigated. When the considered optical link configuration is applied into $26{\times}40$ Gbps WDM transmission system and the optimal net residual dispersions (NRDs) depending on transmission length are decided, the effective transmission distanceis highly increased than that resulted in same system with fixed 0 ps/nm NRD in all transmission length. And, design rule of inline DM optical link is also shown through inducing the effective range of precompensation and postcompensation depending on transmission distance and launching power of WDM channel.
