The purpose of this study was to test whether the degrees of desyncronization in cranial nerves were related to correlation coefficient between brain waves measured on scalp. Based on the hypothesis. this research intended to describe the patterns of brain wave during scientific reasoning. EEG (electroencephalography) signals in 19 electrodes were recorded from elementary (6th grade) and middle (7th, 8th grade) school students as they performed roller-ball tasks: planning experiment, cognitive conflict, bridging, metacognition, and at rest (eyes closed and eyes opened). The results showed that the smaller the correlation coefficient was, the bigger the degrees of desyncronization. As compared to resting periods, the correlation coefficients in prefrontal and frontal lobe decreased during scientific reasoning. And the nerves in prefrontal and frontal lobes were most active during scientific reasoning. These results suggest that the correlation coefficient in addition to frequency of brain waves be analysed to get meaningful results of researches on scientific reasoning by brain wave.

Over the past few decades, metallic nanoparticles (NPs) have been of great interest due to their unique mesoscopic properties which distinguish them from those of bulk metals; such as lowered melting points, greater versatility that allows for more ease of processability, and tunable optical and mechanical properties. Due to these unique properties, potential opportunities are seen for applications that incorporate nanomaterials into optical and electronic devices. Specifically, the development of metallic NPs has gained significant interest within the electronics field and technological community as a whole. In this study, gold (Au) pads for surface finish in electronic package were developed by inkjet printing of Au NPs. The microstructures of inkjet-printed Au film were investigated by various thermal treatment conditions. The film showed the grain growth as well as bonding between NPs. The film became denser with pore elimination when NPs were sintered under gas flows of $N_2$-bubbled through formic acid ($FA/N_2$) and $N_2$, which resulted in improvement of electrical conductance. The resistivity of film was 4.79 ${\mu}{\Omega}$-cm, about twice of bulk value. From organic anlayses of FTIR, Raman spectroscopy, and TGA, the amount of organic residue in the film was 0.43% which meant considerable removal of the solvent or organic capping molecules. The solder ball shear test was adopted for solderability and shear strength value was 820 gf (1 gf=9.81 mN) on average. This shear strength is good enough to substitute the inkjet-printed Au nanoparticulate film for electroplating in electronic package.
Tubes in heat exchanger of fuel rods in reactor core are supported at intemediate point by support p0lates or springs. Current practice is, in case of heat exchanger, to allow clearance between tube and support plate for design and manufacturing consideration. And in case of fuel rod the clearance in support point can be generated due to the support spring force relaxation. Flow-induced vibration of a tube can cause it to impact or rub against support plate or against adjacent tubes and can result in fretting-wear. The tube-to- support dynamic interaction is used to relate experimental wear data from single-span test rigs to real multi-span heat exchanger configurations. The dynamic interaction cna be measured during experimental wear tests. However, the dynamic interaction is difficult to measure in real heat exchangers and, therefore, analytical techniques are required to estimate this interaction. This paper describels the nonlinear impact model of DAGS(Dynamic Analysis of Gapped Structure) code which simulates the tube response to external sinusodial or step excitation and predicts tube motion and tube-to-support dynamic interaction. Three experimental measurements-two single span rods excited by sinusodial force and a two span rod impacted by a steel ball are compared from the simulation nonlinear model of DAGS code. The simulation results from DAGS code are in good agreement with measurements. Therefore, the developed model of DAGS code is good analytical tool for estimating tube-to-support dynamic interaction in real heat exchangers.
This paper is concerned with the characteristics on the statistical parameters of vibration signal from bearing with changing its operating conditions as well as the spreading of faults. The rms, Kurtosis, crest factor, probability of exceedance and probability density function have been chose as the statistical parameters. To characterize of each, vibration signals have been recorded from four ball tester at different loads, operation speeds and time. The values of the statistical parameters for each frequency band have been calculated after A/D conversion and digital filtering of the recorded signals. It has been found that unlike rms values the statistical parameters such as Kurtosis etc. are almost unchanging with the change of the operating conditions such as load and speed. This suggests that the statistical parameters may be used for determining the development of faults independent of the operating conditions. In fact, the statistical parameters deviate considerably from their respective normal values when the faults developed under load conditions in the samples, conforming the suggestion.
In this study, we report the microstructure and characterization of Ta20Nb20V20W20Ti20 high-entropy alloy powders and sintered samples. The effects of milling time on the microstructure and mechanical properties were investigated in detail. Microstructure and structural characterization were performed by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. The mechanical properties of the sintered samples were analyzed through a compressive test at room temperature with a strain rate of 1 × 10-4 s-1. The microstructure of sintered Ta20Nb20V20W20Ti20 high-entropy alloy is composed of a BCC phase and a TiO phase. A better combination of compressive strength and strain was achieved by using prealloyed Ta20Nb20V20W20Ti20 powder with low oxygen content. The results suggest that the oxide formed during the sintering process affects the mechanical properties of Ta20Nb20V20W20Ti20 high-entropy alloys, which are related to the interfacial stability between the BCC matrix and TiO phase.
$SnO_2:CNT$ thick films for gas sensors were fabricated by screen printing method on alumina substrates and were annealed at $300^{\circ}C$ in air. The nano $SnO_2$ powders were prepared by solution reduction method using tin chloride ($SnCl_2.2H_2O$), hydrazine ($N_2H_4$) and NaOH. Nano $SnO_2:CNT$ sensing materials were prepared by ball-milling for 24h. The weight range of CNT addition on the $SnO_2$ surface was from 0 to 10 %. The structural and morphological properties of these sensing material were investigated using X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscope. The structural properties of the $SnO_2:CNT$ sensing materials showed a tetragonal phase with (110), (101), and (211) dominant orientations. No XRD peaks corresponding to CNT were observed in the $SnO_2:CNT$ powders. The particle size of the $SnO_2:CNT$ sensing materials was about 5~10 nm. The sensing characteristics of the $SnO_2:CNT$ thick films for 5 ppm $H_2S$ gas were investigated by comparing the electrical resistance in air with that in the target gases of each sensor in a test box. The results showed that the maximum sensitivity of the $SnO_2:CNT$ gas sensors at room temperature was observed when the CNT concentration was 8wt%.

The effect of oxidation in SAE 5W30 engine oils on friction and wear characteristics was investigated using reciprocating bench tester and shell 4-ball tester. Commercial engine oils were collected and oxidized using the KS M 2021 method modifying the oxidation time. Kinematic viscosity, total acid number(TAN), FT-IR spectrum and total base number(TBN) also measured to examine the chemical change of oils with oxidation. The results showed that TAN was slightly changed and Kinematic viscosity was suddenly increased during the oxidation stage. however, TBN results keep a constant slope after TBN linearly decreased with oxidation time. Spectroscopy results showed that spectrums were orderly increased at $1710cm^{-1}$ during the oxidation time. Friction test results showed that oxidation of oils formed unstable friction layers causing higher fluctuating friction. however, the wear resistance was independent of oxidized time due to the different friction characteristics by oxidation. We found several factors in relation to lubrication properties with oxidation time. This factors were Viscosity, TBN, change of FT-IR spectrum, friction coefficient using reciprocating bench tester and wear scar.
The Purpose of this study was to investigate material differences in stress transmission among various artificial teeth and denture base materials. For this study, a two-dimensional finite element model and a two-dimensional photoelastic model of a mandible with complete denture were made. A resin tooth and a porcelain tooth were used as artificial teeth, and a resin base, a metal lined base, and a soft-liner lined base were used as denture bases. An occlusal load was applied and principal stresses generated in the supporting tissues were compared. To test the impact stress transmission, strain gauge attached to the denture base specimens made of the different materials were made in thick and thin groups. Voltage outputs from hitting the specimen with a steel ball were compared. The results were as follows : 1. In FEM, increasing the mucosal thickness reduced the maximum principal stresses in the supporting tissues, but altering the tooth materials and the base materials induced no difference in the stresses. 2. In photoelastic model study, no difference in fringe order among the specimens were observed, but the thick mucosa group and the soft-liner lined group revealed a more uniform distribution of the load. 3. In strain measuring, the impact force transmission was highest in the soft-liner lined group, and was the lowest in the metal lined group(p<0.01). 4. In the thin group using the resin base, the porcelain tooth showed higher impact stress transmission than the resin tooth(p<0.01), but no difference was observed between them in the thick group. In the soft-liner lined group, the porcelain tooth showed higher impact stress transmission than the resin tooth(p<0.01), but no difference was observed between them in the metal lined group. 5. The thick group showed lower impact stress transmission than the thin group(p<0.01).
This is to study the accuracy of the actual size according to the TOD(table object distance; TOD) change when measuring blood vessels using angiography equipment, and to help the optimal selection of the device used accordingly. Balls similar to the size of common vessels were calibrated with TOD using 30 mm, 20 mm, 10 mm, 5 mm and acrylic phantoms, catheter calibration from 0 cm to 10 cm, 20 cm and 30 cm, respectively. It was measured whether there was a change in the measured value according to the change. The equipment used was GE Innova 3131 IQ equipment, and the image reconstruction method was GE AW4.7 post processing program. Two radiotechnologists were scanned three times by catheter calibration method and 3DRA(3dimension rotational angiography; 3DRA) volume rendering method. The independent sample T-test showed 0.981 (p> 0.05) to verify the significance between the two observers. As a result, in case of catheter calibration, the error rate at TOD 0 mm and 10 mm is within ± 10%, but when the TOD is changed to 20 mm and 50 mm respectively, the tolerance is ± 10% except for 30 mm ball exceeded. On the other hand, 3DRA was included within the tolerance range of ± 10% overall even when the TOD was changed from 0 mm to 50 mm. In the catheter calibration method, the larger the TOD, the larger the error range, and the 3DRA method was able to measure vascular vessels accurately close to the actual measurement without any consideration of the TOD.
In this study, the authors attempted to produce a medical radiation shielding fiber that can be produced at a nanosize scale and that is, unlike lead, harmless to the human body. The performance of the proposed medical radiation shielding fiber was then evaluated. First, diamagnetic bismuth oxide, an element which, among elements that have a high atomic number and density, is harmless to the human body, was selected as the shielding material. Next, 10-100 nm sized nanoparticles in powder form were prepared by ball milling the bismuth oxide ($Bi_2O_3$), the average particle size of which is $1-500{\mu}m$, for approximately 10 minutes. The manufactured bismuth oxide was formed into a colloidal solution, and the radiation shielding fabric was fabricated by curing after coating the solution on one side or both sides of the fabric. The thicknesses of the shielding sheets prepared with bismuth oxide were 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, 0.6, 0.7, 0.8, and 1.0 mm. An experimental method was used to measure the absorbed dose and irradiation dose by using the lead equivalent test method of X-ray protection goods presented by Korean Industrial Standards; the resultant shielding rate was then calculated. From the results of this study, the X-ray shielding effect of the shielding sheet with 0.1 mm thickness was about 55.37% against 50 keV X-ray, and the X-ray shielding effect in the case of 1.0 mm thickness showed shielding characteristics of about 99.36% against 50 keV X-ray. In conclusion, it is considered that nanosized-bismuth radiation shielding fiber developed in this research will contribute to reducing the effects of primary X-ray and secondary X-ray such as when using a scattering beam at a low level exposure.
