Design of a Two-Dimensional Proportional Solenoid for Miniature Directional Control Pneumatic Valves

  • In this paper, a new proportional solenoid invented for pneumatic directional control valves is introduced. The new proportional solenoid has two-dimensional structure and a pivoting armature on which the friction force is inherently negligible. Another advantageous feature of this solenoid is that its mechanical parts can be easily manufactured and assembled. The working principle and design example of the now proportional solenoid, its application to the activation of a 4/3-way directional control valve, and the evaluation of its control performance in a position control loop are reported.

  • Mobile hydraulics require higher energy efficiency, and a simpler as well as robust design, than general industrial hydraulics. The 6/3-way directional control valve is widely used as a mobile hydraulic control valve. However, since the 6/3-way directional control valve is a spool type valve, it is difficult to maintain the load. A counterbalance valve is typically used, to maintain the load, and lift down. However, in an industrial field using a mobile hydraulics device, a pilot controlled check valve may be used to implement holding and lifting operation of the self-weight load, and a relief valve may be used simply to exert back pressure. But no comparative analysis of advantages and disadvantages of each method was revealed. In this study, various methods of holding and unloading load with self-weight in mobile hydraulics are investigated, and compared through simulation using AMESim software. This is experimentally verified by using Festo's mobile hydraulic test rig TP800.

  • Developing robot hands with multi-degree-of-freedom is one of the topics that researchers have recently begun to improve the limitation by adding flexibility and dexterity. In this study, an articulated servo-pneumatic robot hand system with direct-drive joints has been developed whose main feature is the minimization of the dimension. The servo-pneumatic system is advantageous to fabricate a dexterous robot hand system due to the high torque-to-weight and torque-to-volume ratio. This enables the design of a finger joint with an integrated rotary vane type actuator which produces high output torque without reduction gears, being very robust. In order to control the servo-pneumatic finger joints, a miniature proportional valve that can be attached to the robot hand is required. In this paper, a flapper nozzle type 4/3-way proportional directional valve has been designed and tested. The experimental results show that the developed valve can control a finger joint satisfactorily without much vibratory joint movements and acoustic noises.

  • Lateral confining effect due to the existence of the shear reinforcements in R.C. beam is investigate in a numerical way. For the purpose, a three dimensional constitutive model of concrete is developed based on the elasto-plasticity using non-associated plastic flow rule to control the excessive inelastic dilatancy. The plastic flow direction is determined based on the associated plastic flow direction in a way to adjust the directional angle between the two normal vector components along the hydrostatic and deviatoric axis in a meridian plane in which the loading function prescribed. The current formulation is combined with the four parameter elasto-plastic triaxial concrete model recently developed. The resulting elasto-plastic triaxial concrete model predicts the fundamental behaviors of concrete under different confining levels and the 4-points flexural test of a beam with shear reinforcements, compares with the experimental results.

회전교차로와 4지 신호교차로 효과에 관한 비교분석 (Comparative Analysis on the Effectiveness of Modern Roundabouts and 4-legged Signalized Intersections)

  • 회전교차로(roundabout)는 영국에서 교통서클이 갖는 문제를 해결하기 위해 개발되었다. 영국은 1966년 모든 회전교차로에서 "우선권(give-way)"제도를 도입하였는데, 그것은 교차로에 진입하는 차량은 교차로 내에서 가장 멀리 회전하는 차량에 우선권을 주거나 양보해야 한다는 것이다. 그러나 미국이나 유럽에서 사용되는 회전교차로는 우리나라에서 사용되지 못하고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 회전교차로의 효과를 비교 분석하는데 있다. 이를 위해 회전교통량의 변화를 반영하여 분석 시나리오를 작성하고, 회전교차로와 신호교차로를 SIDRA를 이용하여 평균제어지체를 분석한다. 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 1차로 회전교차로는 총 진입 교통량이 2,000pcph 이하일 때, 신호교차로보다 효과적이 된다. 둘째, 2차로 회전교차로는 총 진입 교통량이 3,200pcph 이하일 경우에 신호교차로보다 효과적이 된다. 셋째, 좌우회전 전용차로 설치 교차로일 경우 회전교차로의 면적이 적게 소요되는 것으로 분석된다.

3구신호등 제어용 교통신호제어기 개발 (Development of a Traffic Signal Controller for the Tri-light Traffic Signal)

  • 현재 국내에서 사용되는 교통신호제어기는 4구신호등(적색, 황색, 녹화살표, 녹색) 체계로 개발된 "경찰청 교통신호제어기 표준규격"을 따르고 있으나, 국가정책에 따라 3구신호등체계로 바뀌어 운영될 예정에 있다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 기존 4구신호등 체계로 개발된 표준규격 교통신호제어기를 3구신호등(적색, 황색, 녹색) 체계에 맞도록 신호등기부를 개선하는 방법으로 3구신호등용 교통신호제어기를 설계 개발하였다. 등기구동장치(LSU)는 2조의 3색 R-Y-G 출력스위치를 가져 총 6개의 출력용량을 갖도록 개선되었다. 이동류별 및 교통수단별(차량, 버스, 자전거, 보행) 3색 신호를 부여하기 위해 최대 16개까지 등기구동장치(LSU)를 수용하여 총 96개의 출력 용량을 갖도록 버스체계가 개선되었다. 최대 32개까지 늘어난 적색 등 점멸제어를 위해 점멸기(FLASHER) 장치를 개선하였다. 소프트웨어 부문에서는 지역제어기와 센터시스템 간 통신규약이 개선 되었으며, 3구신호등 체계의 LSU에 적합한 새로운 시그널맵 코드체계를 부여하였다. 개발된 3구신호등 제어용 교통신호기에 대해 프로토콜 운전, 원격제어기능, 제어모드별 운전기능을 각각 시험하였으며, 테스트 결과 모두 정상적으로 동작하였다.

다양한 가상 골 결함에 따른 공진 주파수의 비교 분석 (A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS WITH RESONANCE FREQUENCY ACCORDING TO VARIOUS SIMULATED BONE DEFECTS)

  • Purpose: Resonance frequency analysis (RFA) , a non-invasive technique for the clinical measurement of implant stability, was investigated. Peri-implant bony defect may contribute to implant failure. This in vitro study evaluated the resonance frequencies according to various bony defects and determined whether the directional bone defect can affect the value of frequency analysis. Material and Method: Fifteen 3.75 mm in diameter and 10 mm in length, machined self-tapping implant future were used. Twelve types of bone defects that have different horizontal and vertical dimensions were simulated. Embedded implants were attached to the dental surveyor. Then, the transducer was connected with the implant fixture and the ISQ value was measured at four different directions. Two-way analysis of variance and post hoc $Sch\`{e}ffe'$ test were performed at the 95% significance level. Results: The control group showed the highest ISQ value and 5 thread-$360^{\circ}$ group had the lowest one. As the vertical exposure of implants in each angle was increased, the ISQ value was decreased. Although the horizontal exposure in each thread was increased, the ISQ value was not significantly decreased. Conclusion : Although the simulated defect type was different from each other, the ISQ value was similar among groups.
