Assessment of Dietary Intake Obtained by 24-hours Recall Method in Adults Living in Yeonchon Area(2) : Assessment Based on Food Group Intake (24시간 회상법으로 조사한 연천지역성인의 식생활평가(2) : 식품섭취평가)

  • To assess the food intake and diet quality of Korean adults living in rural areas , a dietary survey using a one day 24-hour recall method was conducted with 2037 subjects over 30 years of age living in Yeonchon-gun , Kyungki province of Korea. Eighty percent of total food intake was in the form of vegetable food and the rest in the form o fanimal food . Diet quality was assessed by food group pattern, dietary diversity score(DDS), and dietary variety score(DVS). When counting the major food groups consumed (DDs), 47% of subjects had a DDS of 3 and 31% of subjects had a DDs of 4. On average, subjects habitually consumed 14.9 different foods daily, with the mean score of diet variety (DVS) for males(14.4) being significantly lower than for females (15.2). Persons who had higher DDSS also had higher DVSS(p<0.001). As the DDs increased , MAR(Mean adequacy ratio) improved. Correlation coefficients between NAR(nutrient adequacy ratio) and DVS ranged from r=0.34 for vitamin C to re=0.51 for vitamin B$_2$. NAR also improved as the number of foods or food groups consumed increased (p<0.001). Associations between the NAR of most nutrients with DVS was better than those with DDS. Based on these results, the food intake of the study subjects was not adequate, especially with regards to the dairy and fruit groups . Dietary diversity (DDS) and especially dietary variety (DVS) would be useful in assess nutrient intake because of their associations with total diet quality.

Dietary Quality Estimation of Military Foodservice Menu (군 급식 제공 메뉴 분석에 의한 식사의 질 평가)

  • This study attempted to estimate the dietary quality and the food diversity by analyzing the military foodservice menu. To evaluate the dietary quality, an analysis of NAR(Nutrient Adequacy Ratio) and MAR(Mean Adequacy Ratio) were carried out. DDS(Dietary Diversity Score), DVS(Dietary Variety Score) and DMGFV(Dairy Product, Meat, Grain, Fruit, Vegetable group) were used for assessment of food diversity. A Can-pro 3.0 and an excel were used for dietary data analysis and SPSS 12.0 program was used for statistical analysis. The results were as follows. The NAR of the 9 nutrients was above the RDAs and MAR was $1.71{\pm}0.19$. For 19 days(61.3%), DDS was 5 and for 12 days(38.7%), DDS was 4. The average of DDS was $4.6{\pm}0.25$. The Fruit & vegetable groups were not often served compared to other groups and especially fresh fruit were not given enough. The average of DVS and DVSS were $22.48{\pm}0.61$ and $29.26{\pm}0.66$ each. The most frequent food pattern was 'DMGFV=11111' which was served for 19 days(61.3%) and second frequent pattern 'DMGFV=11101' was served for 12 days(38.7%). DDS was significantly associated with Vit. C intake and DVS and DVSS was significantly related to Vit. $B_1$ and Vit. $B_2$ intakes. The MAR was significantly correlated with only DVSS. It could be interpreted that DVSS is a useful parameter for evaluating nutrient intakes as previous studies verified. Based on these findings, it can be said that military foodservice was provided with adequate nutrition and diversity. Menu was well composed of various foods which met the nutrition standards, but should provide more fresh fruits for adequate provision of vitamins and minerals.

Evaluation of Dietary Variety by Food Habits in Female University Students (여대생의 식습관에 따른 식사 다양성 평가)

  • The purpose of this study was to assess dietary variety by food habits(regularity of meal time, regularity of repast, repast of breakfast, lunch, and supper, number of suppers and night snacks per week, and duration of meal) in 138 female university students residing in Bucheon and its adjacent area. Food habits were assessed via a self reporting questionnaire, and a 3-day dietary recall survey was conducted by interviewing. Dietary variety was assessed by dietary diversity score(DDS), meal balance score(MBS), and dietary variety score(DVS). The average DDS, MBS, and DVS were $3.87{\pm}0.57$, $7.27{\pm}1.48$, and $12.59{\pm}3.14$, respectively. The DDS($2.21{\pm}0.83$) of the breakfast in the group in which the regularity of meal time per week was 5~7 days was significantly higher($p$ <0.01) than the DDS($1.47{\pm}0.96$) of the breakfast in the group in which the regularity of meal time per week was ${\leq}$2 days. The MBS($6.69{\pm}1.43$) of the group in which the regularity of meal times per week was ${\leq}2$ days was significantly lower($p$ <0.01) than the MBS of the group in which the regularity of meal time per week was ${\geq}3$ days. The DDS($2.38{\pm}0.69$) of the breakfast in the breakfast over eating group was significantly higher($p$ <0.001) than the DDS($1.83{\pm}0.83$) of breakfast under eating group. The MBS($6.56{\pm}1.46$) in the breakfast skipping group was significantly lower($p$ <0.01) than the MBS(about 7.6) in other breakfast eating groups, and the DVS ($13.79{\pm}3.21$) in the breakfast over eating group was significantly higher($p$ <0.05) than the DVS($11.53{\pm}2.94$) in the breakfast skipping group. The DDS of breakfast, lunch, and snack were not significantly correlated with the number of suppers per week, but the DDS($2.65{\pm}0.52$) of the supper in the group in which the number of suppers per week was 7 was significantly higher($p$ <0.05) than the DDS($2.22{\pm}0.49$, $2.25{\pm}0.62$) of the supper in the group in which the number of suppers per week was ${\leq}2$, 3~4. The DDS, MBS and DVS were not significantly correlated with the number of suppers per week. The DDS($1.33{\pm}1.25$) of the breakfast in the group in which the number of night snacks per week was 6~7 was significantly lower($p$ <0.05) than the DDS of the breakfast in the group in which the number of night snacks was ${\leq}5$. Also, the DDS($4.42{\pm}0.32$) per day in the group in which the duration of meal was <10 min. was significantly higher($p$ <0.01) than the DDS($3.51{\pm}0.53$) per day in the group in which the duration of meal was ${\geq}30$ min. These findings suggest that nutritional education based on female university students' eating variety and food habits(regularity of meal time, regularity of repast, repast of breakfast, lunch, and supper, number of suppers, and night snacks per week, and duration of meal) may be required to improve dietary variety.

Performance Analysis of Ship IPMS Simulator Based on DDS integrated with Different Operating System Equipment (이종 운영체제 장비를 통합한 DDS 기반 선박 IPMS 시뮬레이터 성능 분석)

  • With increasing automation in ships and the development of autonomous ships, an IPMS (Integrated Platform Management System) in ship needs to integrate and process large amounts of real-time data from various equipment operating on different operating systems. A ship IPMS simulator based on data distribution service (DDS) was developed and its performance was evaluated to handle data processing similar in real ship environment. Errors were monitored while 1,000 topics/sec were asynchronously published and subscribed from data acquisitive units (DAUs) and an IPMS server operating on different operating systems. Except for the loss of some topics during the initial 4 seconds, topics were received without an error thereafter. The developed simulator demonstrates the feasibility of using DDS to integrate various control systems using different operating systems in actual ships.

Quality Analysis for the Data Distribution Service of the Real-time Integrated Railway Safety Monitoring and Control System (실시간 철도안전 통합 감시제어시스템의 데이터 분산 서비스 품질 적합성 분석)

  • In this paper, we analyse DDS(Data Distribution Service) QoSs(Quality of Services) with experiments, which can control the network transmission quality provided by 'Object Management Group' DDS standard to satisfy the data transmission quality requirements of 'Real-time integrated railway safety monitoring and control system(RIRSMCS)'. 'RIRSMCS' is a system for collecting and analyzing data from various sensors at a railway field to predict and prevent the risk of potential railway accidents. Data transmission quality should be ensured for transmitting the collected data in real-time, accurately and stably for this system. Experimental results show that it is possible to ensure real-time, accurate and stable data transmission for monitoring and control of railway safety using DDS QoS.

  • OPC UA at the control and field level does not provide enough performance to replace the field bus. The OPC Foundation aims for a real-time and connection-less mechanism, and has added the OPC UA publish-subscribe model, a new specification that supports broker functions such as MQTT and AMQP, as the OPC UA Part 14 standard. This paper is about a gateway for interoperability between OPC UA publisher with the addition of OPC UA Part14 standard and DDS subscribers. Raspberry Pi 4 is used for the gateway proposed in this paper, and OpenDDS, an open source, is used for DDS. OPC UA publish-subscribe module used A-Open62541 publish-subscribe module, which additionally implements functions not provided by the corresponding source based on Open62541 publish-subscribe open source.

A Studyo on the Evaluation of Food Intake of Preschool Children in Pusan (부산지역 학령전 아동의 식품섭취평가에 관한 연구)

  • To assess the food intake and diet quality of preschool children in Pusan, dietary survey was conducted with 176 subjects using 24hr recall method. Diet quality was assessed by food group pattern, dietary diversity score(DDS), dietary variety score(DVS), and dietary frequency score(DFS). The total number of food items consumed was 307. The foods consumed most frequently were rice, Korean cabbage kimchi, milk and green onion. When investigating the consumption pattern of major six food groups, 38.1% of subjects consumed all six groups. Food group was missed in order of fruit(41.5%), sweet(19.9%), dairy(16.5), vegetable(4.5%) and meat(1.7%). The mean values of DDS, DVS, and DFS were 5.16, 13.82, and 16.07 re spectively. Persons who had higher DDSs also had higher DVSs(p<0.001). DDS, DVS and DFS correlated positively with NAR(nutrient adequacy ratio) and MAR(mean adequacy ratio) significantly. Associations between the NAR of most nutrients and MAR with DVS and DFS were higher than those between the NAR of most nutrients and MAR with DDS. People with DDS of above 6 or DVS of above 16 or DFS of above 21 met two thirds of recommended dietary allowance for nutrients. Based on the result of the food group intake, the food intake of subjects was not adequate, especially the fruit and dairy groups. When assessing the dietary quality of subjects using DDS, DVS and DFS, many people appeared not to have a desirable food intake.

Analysis of DDS Sampling Method and Harmonic Composition

  • Through theoretical proof and algorithm design, this paper numerically demonstrates that the three sampling methods of DDS are equivalent in amplitude-frequency characteristics. Depending on theoretical analysis, the article obtains the conclusion that 2 points are optimal when sampling at 2, 3, and 4 points. Built on the data results, this paper obtains the fractional form of the amplitude and phase of the DDS sampled signal; in addition, this paper also obtains the design parameters of the DDS post-stage filter. It also gives a control method for the calculation error when addressing this issue.

Mechanical Properties and Morphology of Epoxy/Polyamide/DDS/2E4MZ-CNS Reactive Blends (에폭시/폴리아미드/DDS/2E4MZ-CNS 반응성 블렌드의 형태학적 특징 및 기계적 물성)

  • The thermal and mechanical properties and morphology of epoxy/polyamide/DDS/2E4MZ-CNS reactive blends with various amounts of polyamide were investigated. The amount of polyamide was 10, 20, and 30 phr and 2 phr of catalyst was added to the blend to cure at $180^{\circ}C$ for 30 min. By adding the catalyst, 2E4MZ-CNS, to the blend, the cure reaction occurred at a lower temperature. From the SEM images, it was found that the boundary of separated-phase was unclear and the phase was co-continuous. Without the catalyst, however, the boundary of separated-phase was clear. The control of cure temperature and morphology could be achieved by using a proper catalyst and consequently the mechanical strength increased by 20% compared to the blend without the catalyst due to the strong interaction between epoxy matrix and phase-separated polyamide at the interface.

The Relationship between the Diversity of Food Intake and Nutrient Intake among Korean College Students Participating in a Nutrition Education Class via the Internet (인터넷 영양교육 참여 대학생의 식품섭취 다양성과 영양섭취와의 관계)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the relationship between the diversity of food intake and nutrient intake among Korean college students participating in a nutrition education class via the internet. The subjects were 796 college students throughout South Korea (278 males, 518 females). A 3 days dietary recall survey was conducted and results were analyzed using the Computer-aided Nutritional Analysis Program. Dietary variety was assessed by DDS (dietary diversity score), MBS (meal balance score), and DVS (dietary variety score). Dietary quality was assessed by NAR (nutrient adequacy ratio), and MAR (mean adequacy ratio). As the DDS, MBS and DVS increased, the NAR and MAR improved. The subjects with a DDS of above 4 or a MBS of above 10 or a DVS of above 11 met two-thirds of the Korean recommended dietary allowance for most nutrients. The DDS, MBS and DVS correlated positively and significantly with the NAR and MAR. Associations between the NAR and high levels of DVS were more positive than those between the NAR and the DDS. Based on these results, the food intake of these subjects was not adequate. Specially, the dietary intake of calcium and iron were not adequate. Therefore, dietary guidelines should be made considering nutritional characteristics so as to improve the intake from all of the major food groups and provide a variety of foods in their diets.
