Service of digital hologram that has been recognized as a visual system for next generation requires various signal processing technologies. A transform is the most frequently used tool among signal processing techniques for 2-dimensional(D) and 3-D natural picture. A digital hologram has totally different property with a natural picture, so it is rarely efficient to apply transform tools used in 2-D image processing to a digital hologram. To overcome this a Fresnelet transform for a digital hologram has been proposed. We derive a Fresnelet transform by using the Daubechie's filter after applying an unitary Fresnel transform to a wavelet basis function. We also implement the transform as types of device and kernel code to improve operational performance. In consideration of the average time that is required for a pixel we can have observed the performance is improved up to 242 and 30 times for using the (9,7) and (5,3) filters in case of using device code.
In the conventional fractal image compression in the DWT(discrete wavelet transform), the domain and range blocks were classified as B${\times}$B block size first before all domain block for each range block was searched. The conventional method has a disadvantages that the encoding time takes too long, since the domain block for entire image was searched. As an enhancement to such inefficiencies and image quality, this paper proposes wavelet-based fractal image compression with multiscale factors. Thus, this proposed method uses multiscale factor along each level and band to enhance an overall image quality. In encoding process of this method, the range blocks are not searched for all the domain blocks; however, using the self affine system the range blocks are selected from the blocks in the upper level. The image qualify of the conventional method is 32.30[dB], and the proposed method is 35.97[dB]. The image quality is increased by 3.67[dB].

In this paper, we proposed the compression technique of the video data using SPIHT(set partitioning in hierarchical trees) based on wavelet and the multi-stream delivery method for best-effort service as fully utilizing the clients bandwidth over the current Internet. The experiment shows that the proposed method provides about 1.5dB better picture quality without block effects than DCT(discrete consine transform) based coding schemes at the same bit rates because of using the wavelet video coder. In addition, this technique implements the multi-stream transmission based on TCP(transmission control protocol). Thus, it is provided with the best-efforts service which is robust to the network jitter problem, and maximally utilizes the bandwidth of the client's.

In this paper, we propose an efficient architecture for 2D IWT using an existing 1D IWT. Lifting based IWT is the architecture of which a multiplier is replaced by adders and shift registers. The structure is relatively simple and modular. The proposed architecture to process an image size with 256x256 pixels consists of 16 adders, 8 shift registers, and some memories. By processing two rows at the same time, 2D sub-band coefficients can be calculated immediately after 1D sub-band coefficients have been processed. The architecture is designed so that each image can be inputted consecutively. The number of adders and shift registers is increased by twice comparing the existing architecture, but the memory size and the execution time are decreased by half. The proposed architecture is implemented using Verilog-HDL and simulated using iSim. It is synthesized and demonstrated at ISE for xc5vlx330 in RPS3K board.

This study discusses the high-order diffusion method in the wavelet domain. It aims to improve the edge protection capability of the high-order diffusion method using wavelet coefficients that can reflect image information. During the first step of the proposed diffusion method, the wavelet packet decomposition is a more refined decomposition method that can extract the texture and structure information of the image at different resolution levels. The high-frequency wavelet coefficients are then used to construct the edge detection function. Subsequently, because accurate wavelet coefficients can more accurately reflect the edges and details of the image information, by introducing the idea of state weight, a scheme for recovering wavelet coefficients is proposed. Finally, the edge detection function is constructed by the module of the wavelet coefficients to guide high-order diffusion, the denoised image is obtained. The experimental results showed that the method presented in this study improves the denoising ability of the high-order diffusion model, and the edge protection index (SSIM) outperforms the main methods, including the block matching and 3D collaborative filtering (BM3D) and the deep learning-based image processing methods. For images with rich textural details, the present method improves the clarity of the obtained images and the completeness of the edges, demonstrating its advantages in denoising and edge protection.

In this paper, digital watermarking method using wavelet transform and quad-tree algorithm is proposed. The proposed algorithm transforms the input image by DWT(Discrete Wavelet Transform) and AWPT(Adaptive Wavelet Packet Transform), inserts the watermark by quad-tree algorithm and the Cox's algorithm. The simulation for performance analysis of the proposed algorithm is implemented about the effect of embedding watermark in each subband coefficient (HH, LH, HL) of DWT, each DWT level, and each AWPT level. The simulation result by using DWT is compared with that using AWPT in the proposed algorithm. In addition, the effect of embedding watermark in the lowest frequency band (LL) is simulated. As a simulation result using DWT, the watermarking performance of simultaneously embedding in HH, LH, and HL band of DWT(6 level) is better than that of different cases. The result of AWPT(3 level) improves the correlation value compared to that of DWT(3 level). In addition, insertion the watermark to the LL band about 30~60% of all watermarks improves the correlation value while PSNR performance decreases 1~2dB.

We studied on the nondestructive evaluation of the elastic wave signals of locally wall thinned straight pipe. Wavelet transform was applied for the time-frequency analysis of waveforms obtained by fracture wave detector due to the dropping steel ball. The time-frequency analysis provides time variation of each frequency component involved in a waveform, which makes it possible to evaluate the shape of local wall thinning at each frequency. In this study, comparison by wavelet transform of the AE signals and monotonic bending tests without internal pressure are conducted on 1.91 inch diameter full-scale carbon steel pipe specimens. As the results of tests, fracture behaviors could be shown by the characteristic of mechanical strength of locally wall thinned pipes and the waveforms could be evaluated for the integrity insurance of the piping system according to the length and depth range of the deffeted shape pipes in the real field.

This paper proposes an 3D face image watermarking method based on discrete wavelet transform(DWT). First, 3D face image are transformed by DWT and inserted gaussian watermark into frequency domain. To increase the robustness and perceptual invisibility of watermark, the proposed algorithm is combined with the characteristics of 3D face image and human visual system. The proposed method is invisible and blind watermarking which the original image is not required. Simulation results show that the proposed method is robust to the general attack such as JPEG compression, enhancement, noise, cropping, and filtering etc.
The 3D DWT(The Three Dimensional Discrete Wavelet Transform) scheme is potentially regarded as useful one on analyzing both spatial and spectral information. Nevertheless, few researchers have attempted to process or classified remotely sensed images using the 3D DWT. This study aims to apply the 3D DWT to the land cover classification of optical and SAR(Synthetic Aperture Radar) images. Then, their results are evaluated quantitatively and compared with the results of traditional classification technique. As the experimental results, the 3D DWT shows superior classification results to conventional techniques, especially dealing with the high-resolution imagery and SAR imagery. It is thought that the 3D DWT scheme can be extended to multi-temporal or multi-sensor image classification.
It is a weak point of the motion estimation technique for video compression that the predicted video encoding algorithm requires higher-order computational complexity. To reduce the computational complexity of encoding algorithms, researchers introduced techniques such as 3D-WT that don't require motion prediction. One of the weakest points of previous 3D-WT studies is that they require too much memory for encoding and too long delay for decoding. In this paper, we propose a technique called `FS (Fast playable and Scalable) 3D-WT' This technique uses a modified Haar wavelet transform algorithm and employs improved encoding algorithm for lower memory and shorter delay requirement. We have executed some tests to compare performance of FS 3D-WT and 3D-V. FS 3D-WT has exhibited the same high compression rate and the same short processing delay as 3D-V has.
