A prototype computer program was developed which visualizes various kinds of geotechnical information using 3D object graphics techniques. The program integrates various kinds of geotechnical data such as surface geology map, boreholes data, geophysical data as well as man made subsurface structures. It also reads NGIS DXF map and generates digital elevation model from iso-elevation line layer of the DXF map. All the data are put into a 3D model as 3D objects. The created 3D model can be viewed and analysed in a interactive 3D way.
The latest volumetric technology's high geometrical accuracy and realism ensure a high degree of correspondence between the real object and the captured 3D model. Nevertheless, since the 3D model obtained in this way constitutes a sequence as a completely independent 3D model between frames, the consistency of the model surface structure (geometry) is not guaranteed for every frame, and the density of vertices is very high. It can be seen that the interconnection node (Edge) becomes very complicated. 3D models created using this technology are inherently different from models created in movie or video game production pipelines and are not suitable for direct use in applications such as real-time rendering, animation and simulation, and compression. In contrast, our method achieves consistency in the quality of the volumetric 3D model sequence by linking re-meshing, which ensures high consistency of the 3D model surface structure between frames and the gradual deformation and texture transfer through correspondence and matching of non-rigid surfaces. And It maintains the consistency of volumetric 3D model sequence quality and provides post-processing automation.
Due to the increasing demands on the efficient use of land and the fast growth of construction technologies, human living space is expanded from on the surface to above and under the surface. By recognizing that the current cadastre system based on 2D was not appropriate to reflect the trend, the researchers are interested in a 3D cadastre. This paper proposed the 3D cadastre data model that is appropriate to protect ownership effectively in Korea. The 3D cadastre data model consists of a 3D cadastre feature model and a 3D cadastre geometry model, and the data are produced by a 3D cadastre data structure. A 3D cadastre feature model is based on 3D rights and features derived from case studies. A 3D cadastre geometry model based on ISO19107 Spatial Schema is modified to be good for 3D cadastre in Korea. A 3D cadastre data structure consists of point, line, polygon and solid primitives. This study finally purposes 1) serving and managing land information effectively, 2) creating rights and displaying ranges about infrastructures above and under surface, 3) serving ubiquitous-based geoinformation, 4) adapting ubiquitous-based GIS to urban development, and 5) regulating relationships between rights of land and registration and management systems.

Micro-abrasive Jet Machining is one of the new technology which enables micro-scale machining on the surface of high brittle materials. In this technology it is very important to fabricate a mask that prevents excessive abrasives not to machine un-intend surface. Our previous work introduced the micro-stereolithography technology for the mask fabrication. And is good to not only planar material but also for non-planar materials. But the technology requires a 3 dimensional mask CAD model which is perfectly matched with the surface topology of parent material as an input. Therefore there is strong need to develop an automated modeling technology which produce adequate 3D mask CAD model in fast and simple way. This paper introduces a fast and simple mask modeling algorithm which represents geometry of models in voxel. Input of the modeling system is 2D pattern image, 3D CAD model of parent material and machining parameters for Micro-abrasive Jet Machining. And the output is CAD model of 3D mask which reflects machining parameters and geometry of the parent material. Finally the suggested algorithm is implemented as software and verified by some test cases.

Unlike for other building processes, BIM for earthwork does not need a large variety of 3D model shapes; however, it requires a 3D model that can efficiently reflect the changing features of the ground shape and provide soil type-dependent workload calculation and information on equipment for optimal management. Objects for earthwork have not yet been defined because the current BIM system does not provide them. The BIM technology commonly applied in the manufacturing center uses real-object data obtained through 3D scanning to generate 3D parametric solid models. 3D scanning, which is used when there are no existing 3D models, has the advantage of being able to rapidly generate parametric solid models. In this study, A method to generate 3D models for earthwork operations using reverse engineering is suggested. 3D scanning is used to create a point cloud of a construction site and the point cloud data are used to generate a surface model, which was then converted into a parametric model with 3D objects for earthwork

The image-based 3D modeling is the technique of generating a 3D graphic model from images acquired using cameras. It is being researched as an alternative technique for the expensive 3D scanner. In this paper, I propose the image-based 3D modeling system using calibrated camera. The proposed algorithm for rendering 3D model is consisted of three steps, camera calibration, 3D shape reconstruction and 3D surface generation step. In the camera calibration step, I estimate the camera matrix for the image aquisition camera. In the 3D shape reconstruction step, I calculate 3D volume data from silhouette using pyramidal volume intersection. In the 3D surface generation step, the reconstructed volume data is converted to 3D mesh surface. As shown the result, I generated relatively accurate 3D model.

The usage of the land is enlarged with above-surface space and sub-surface space as well as surface, as the concern about the land use is increased because there are many factors like the recent development of the science technique, Rapid increase of the population, Rapid city's diffusion, industrialization. According to the cubicalness of the land usage such as these, We have the limit to register the right-objects in space like various buildings and facilities by present registration method of 2D cadastre registration because of 2D registration object. Thus, it is necessary for plan to register an ownership, other privilege relations and the physical objects like various buildings and facilities established on both surface and space. There are two steps in this study. First step is the necessity of 3D cadastre registration and object analysis of cadastre registration, second step is 3D cadastre division and its visualization. Finally, this study will present the realizable model for a 3D cadastre registration.
Objective: The aim of this study was to assess artifacts induced by metallic restorations in three-dimensional (3D) dental surface models derived by cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Methods: Fifteen specimens, each with four extracted human premolars and molars embedded in a plaster block, were scanned by CBCT before and after the cavitated second premolars were restored with dental amalgam. Five consecutive surface models of each specimen were created according to increasing restoration size: no restoration (control) and small occlusal, large occlusal, disto-occlusal, and mesio-occluso-distal restorations. After registering each restored model with the control model, maximum linear discrepancy, area, and intensity of the artifacts were measured and compared. Results: Artifacts developed mostly on the buccal and lingual surfaces. They occurred not only on the second premolar but also on the first premolar and first molar. The parametric values increased significantly with increasing restoration size. Conclusions: Metallic restorations induce considerable artifacts in 3D dental surface models. Artifact reduction should be taken into consideration for a proper diagnosis and treatment planning when using 3D surface model derived by CBCT in dentofacial deformity patients.
we have proposed a three-dimensional GLE approach to gas-surface reactive scattering, model H + H $${\rightarrow}$H_2/Si(100)-(2$${\times}$1) system, and the implementation of 3D GLE method on the hydrogen on silicon surface has been presented. The formalism and algori thm of the 3D GLE are worked properly in the reactive scattering system. The calculated normal mode frequencies of surface vibrations were almost identical to previous harmonic slab calculations. The reaction probabilities were calculated for two energies. The calculations show that a very large amount of energy is transferred in surface in low energy scattering. Three different types of reaction mechanisms has been observed, which can not be shown in flat and rigid surface models. Further work on the reaction mechanisms and calculations of the vibrational and rotation distributions of products is in progress. The results will be reported elsewhere soon.
