This study was aimed to analyze the disparities of 3D stereoscopic images in four well-known American animation movies. After Avatar (2009), lots of stereoscopic movies were developed in Korean 3D production. Almost all 3D productions in Korea, however, focus on the display images or TV series animation yet. In order to make many well-made Korean stereoscopic 3D animations in future, analyzing and comparing the disparities of 3D stereoscopic images is necessary and even mandated. First, I chose 40 cuts from each four American stereoscopic 3D feature films, including Despicable me 2, Epic, Monster University, and Turbo. According to the classifications of shot angles by Vineyard (2008), secondly I analyze the 23 different angular disparities of 3D stereoscopic images and displayed in tables. Demonstrated shot angle disparities in each scene would provide numerical information to animators how to design and make the 3D stereoscopic images. Making successful stereoscopic 3D feature film will be a huge turning point in the Korean animation field in future. This study would be a first trial to seek a new method to set ahead an outlook of numerical values of 3D stereoscopic images for better visual effects.
The remarkable development of digital technologies and the success of 3D stereoscopic films have led to started drawing attention to stereoscopic images. The stereoscopic images have not become a passing fad in the present time unlike in the past, but have constantly showed their potentials. Unfortunately, the domestic stereoscopic images market is faced with difficulties, such as lack of the capital strength and of insufficient production infrastructure, and the production of 3D from 2D. As a result, it is not easy to produce creative stereoscopic animation contents. Therefore, in Korea, more efforts should be made in accumulating a plenty of data on production techniques. In order to make film production reflecting stereoscopy and effective stereoscopic implementation, which are necessary to produce high-quality stereoscopic contents, this thesis gave an explanation about a production technique studied on the basis of 3D graphic. Stereoscopic images are definitely one of the most promising image contents in the 21st digital contents industry. For the reason, in order to produce stereoscopic animation contents with high quality, fundamental studies on the stereoscopic images should be performed in a constant and cautions way.

Many research institutes have studied 3D stereoscopic images since the release of 3D stereoscopic film 'Avatar' in 2009. Universities have conducted research on and studied 3D stereoscopic image in various ways, and even university curriculums have adopted 3D stereoscopic image production courses. However, universities face many difficulties in purchasing expensive equipment including cameras and rigs for 3D stereoscopic image contents production training. This paper addresses the 3D stereoscopic image content production curriculum using software in university. A practical training course was carried out based on the theoretical contents and theories that must be dealt with in 3D stereoscopic image contents production curriculum. As a result, students could understand the principles of 3D stereoscopic image production and produce various 3D stereoscopic images using various software applications. In this parer, proper instructional methods for 3D stereoscopic image contents production in university are discussed through this production course.
3D stereoscopic cinema emerged as a new dominant media format. In principle, the stereoscopic cinema imitate the vision of the human being has two eyes. The stereoscopic cinema is filmed with 2 connected cameras at the same time and projected these 2 different images. With the stereoscopic glasses, the human being can see the overlapped images as a single 3D stereoscopic image. To make 3D stereoscopic cinema, it is very important to systemize the process of the 3D stereoscopic cinema production and to use the principle of the 3D stereoscopic cinema. This paper investigates the possibilities of the using the 3D stereoscopic principles such as the I.O.D, convergence point, parallax and the 3D comfort zone. Using the principle of the 3D stereoscopic cinema can be the technique of directing the film. Using the example of 3D stereoscopic short film My Birthday, I investigate the main technique of the 3D stereoscopic cinema.
The performances of the newly constructed Stereoscopic PTV and Stereoscopic PIV which had been completed based on a 3D-PTV principle are tested using the Standard Images. Virtual images were produced for the benchmark tests of the constructed two Stereoscopic techniques. The arrangement of the two cameras was based on angular position. The calibration of cameras and the pair-matching of the three-dimensional velocity vectors were based on Genetic Algorithm based 3D-PTV technique. The Standard data of LES are on the impinged jet proposed by VSJ. It is shown that the results obtained by Stereoscopic PTV have better reliability than those by Stereoscopic PTV.
We developed a glasses-free 3D stereoscopic display using an LCD display panel, a view control film and a grating film for stereoscopic viewing. The observer can watch overlapped stereoscopic images for left and right eyes without special glasses such as polarized glasses.
In this paper, we propose a new method of converting 2D video into 3D stereoscopic video, called stereoscopic conversion. In general, stereoscopic images are produced using the motion informations. However unreliable motion informations obtained especially from block-based motion estimation cause the wrong generation of stereoscopic images. To solve for this problem, we propose a stereoscopic conversion method based upon the utilization of key frame that has the better accuracy of estimated motion informations. As well, as generation scheme of stereoscopic images associated with the motion type of each key frame is proposed. For the performance evaluation of our proposed method, we apply it to five test images and measure the accuracy of key frame-based stereoscopic conversion. Experimental results show that our proposed method has the accuracy more than about 90 percent in terms of the detection ratio of key frames.
However, in order to create a stereoscopic 3D image, independently, it is required to spend expensive manufacturing costs and to have special techniques. As 3D display devices have been generalized, there is an increasing need for implementing a stereoscopic 3D image without a burden of expensive costs. This paper proposes some methods to implement stereoscopic 3D images easily by utilizing a marker tracking technology using a single camera. In addition, the study made it possible for the resolution of an image to be adjustable dynamically. This paper will be committed to the promotion of the field of UCC (User Created Contents) using stereoscopic 3D images by attracting the active participation of general users in the field of the implementation of stereoscopic 3D images.

A stereoscopic image is made via 3 dimensional image processing for combining two images from left and right camera. In this case, it is very important to synchronize input images from two cameras. The synchronization method for two camera input images is proposed in this paper. A software system is used to support various video format. And it will be used in the system for glassless stereoscopic images using several cameras.

Conventional stereoscopic (3D) displays using binocular parallax generate unnatural conflicts between convergence and accommodation. These conflicts can affect the observer's ability to fuse binocular images and may cause visual fatigue. In this study, time series changes in visual fatigue and depth sensation when viewing stereoscopic images with changing parallax were examined. In particular, the physiological changes, including the subjective symptoms of visual fatigue, when viewing five parallax conditions, were examined. Then a comparative analysis of the 2D and 3D conditions was performed based on the visual function. To obtain data regarding the visual function, the time series changes in the spontaneous-blinking rate before and during the viewing of 3D images were measured. The time series change results suggest that 2D and 3D images cause significantly different types of visual fatigue over the range of binocular disparity.
