Precision Measurement of Vehicle Shape using Industrial Photogrammetry (산업 사진측량에 의한 자동차의 외형 정밀 측정)

  • This study describes that the method of precision measurement of vehicle shape and the method of measurement the deformation that it is occurred the reason of accident using industrial photogrammatry. The curved shape is measured using the projection target which is able to acquire the point cloud data. 3D coordinates of the target were able to acquire through object picturing and analysis of coordinates. The acquired point cloud data was done 3D modeling to form the surface with TIN. Also, It able to interpretate a deformation surveying accurately the occurred parts of deformation, then can furnish to the analysis of traffic accident the precise and effective data.

  • In this paper, we propose a 3D object LOD(Level of Detail) modeling system that constructs a mesh from range images and generates the mesh of various LOD using the wavelet transform. In the initial mesh generation, we use the marching cube algorithm. We modify the original algorithm to apply it to construct the mesh from multiple range images efficiently. To get the base mesh we use the decimation algorithm which simplifies a mesh with preserving the topology Finally, when reconstructing new mesh which is similar to initial mesh we calculate the wavelet coefficients by using the wavelet transform. We solve the critical problem of wavelet-based methods - the surface crease problem (1) - by using the mesh simplification as the base mesh generation method.

Development of Plant BIM Library according to Object Geometry and Attribute Information Guidelines (객체 형상 및 속성정보 지침에 따른 수목 BIM 라이브러리 개발)

  • While the government policy to fully adopt BIM in the construction sector is being implemented, the construction and utilization of landscape BIM models are facing challenges due to problems such as limitations in BIM authoring tools, difficulties in modeling natural materials, and a shortage in BIM content including libraries. In particular, plants, fundamental design elements in the field of landscape architecture, must be included in BIM models, yet they are often omitted during the modeling process, or necessary information is not included, which further compromises the quality of the BIM data. This study aimed to contribute to the construction and utilization of landscape BIM models by developing a plant library that complies with BIM standards and is applicable to the landscape industry. The plant library of trees and shrubs was developed in Revit by modeling 3D shapes and collecting attribute items. The geometric information is simplified to express the unique characteristics of each plant species at LOD200, LOD300, and LOD350 levels. The attribute information includes properties on plant species identification, such as species name, specifications, and quantity estimation, as well as ecological attributes and environmental performance information, totaling 24 items. The names of the files were given so that the hierarchy of an object in the landscape field could be revealed and the object name could classify the plant itself. Its usability was examined by building a landscape BIM model of an apartment complex. The result showed that the plant library facilitated the construction process of the landscape BIM model. It was also confirmed that the library was properly operated in the basic utilization of the BIM model, such as 2D documentation, quantity takeoff, and design review. However, the library lacked ground cover, and had limitations in those variables such as the environmental performance of plants because various databases for some materials have not yet been established. Further efforts are needed to develop BIM modeling tools, techniques, and various databases for natural materials. Moreover, entities and systems responsible for creating, managing, distributing, and disseminating BIM libraries must be established.

Contour based Algorithms for Generating 3D Models from CT Images (CT 이미지로부터 3차원 모델 생성을 위한 contour 기반 알고리즘)

  • Recently, medical imaging has taken interest on CAD based solution for anatomical part fabrication or finite element analysis of human body. In principle, contours representing object boundary are obtained through image processing techniques. Surface models are then approximated by a skinning method. For this, various methods should be applied to medical images and contours. The major bottleneck of the reconstruction is to remove shape inconsistency between contours and to generate the branching surface. In order to solve these problems, bi-directional smoothing and the composite contour generation method are proposed. Bi-directional smoothing has advantage of removing the shape inconsistency between contours and minimizing shrinkage effect with a large number of iterations. The composite contour by the proposed method ensures smooth transition in branching region.

Benchmark Study on Mechanical Properties of Rapid Prototypes (쾌속 조형품의 기계적물성치 비교에 관한 연구)

  • In these days, various kinds of rapid prototyping processes are available, such as stereo-lithography apparatus(SLA), fused deposition modeling(FDM), selective laser sintering(SLS), 3 dimensional printing(3DP), and laminated object manufacturing(LOM). For detailed informations about mechanical properties of those parts, benchmark tests are carried out. SLS and EOS part has an advantage in compressive strength, SLA has in hardness, FDM part has in impact strength, and LOM part has an advantage in tensile strength and heat resistance. The change of building direction in layered manufacturing processes of FDM and LOM severely weakens the tensile and impact strength.

3D Display Method for Moving Viewers (움직이는 관찰자용 3차원 디스플레이 방법)

  • In this paper we suggest a method of detecting the two eyes position of moving viewer by using images obtained through a color CCD camera, and also a method of rendering view-dependent 3D image which consists of depth estimation, image-based 3D object modeling and stereoscopic display process. Through the experiment of applying the suggested methods, we could find the accurate two-eyes position with the success rate of 97.5% within the processing time of 0.39 second using personal computer, and display the view-dependent 3D image using Fl6 flight model. And through the similarity measurement of stereo image rendered at z-buffer by Open Inventor and captured by stereo camera using robot, we could find that view-dependent 3D picture obtained by our proposed method is optimal to viewer.

  • As an interest in metaverse increases, there are many studies to apply virtual reality to indirect experiences. Virtual reality is increasingly being used not only for entertainment such as games but also for educational content. A key technology of indirect experience is modeling an object to provide a realistic experience to the user. Natural environments such as tidal flats change with time, and many living things also live there. In this paper, we propose a method for creating experiential content that accurately models the ecological environment of tidal flats. The proposed method explains how to naturally model the temporal change of tidal flats. We also explain how to model a crab, a creature that inhabits the tidal flat, in the forms of an NPC using the behavior tree. Implementation results show that the proposed method uses simple algorithms but expresses the shapes of tidal flats well.

  • The most fundamental difference between general three dimensional computer graphics technology and virtual reality technology lies in the degree of realism as we feel, and thus the virtual reality method heavily relies on such tolls as data gloves, 3D auditory system to enhance human perception and recognition. Although these tolls are valid for such purpose, more essential ingredient. This paper provides further realism by modeling active interactions between the objects inside scenes. For this purpose, this paper proposes and implements a field model where the virtual reality space is treated as a physical field defined on the characteristic radius of stimulus and sense corresponding to the individual object. In the field model, the rule of cause and effect as an essential feature of the realism can be interpreted simply as an energy exchange between objects and consequently, variation on the radius information together with behavioral logic alone can build the virtual environment where each object can react to other objects actively and controllably.

  • Recently, scanning projects have been carried out in various construction and construction fields for maintenance purposes. The point cloud generated by the scan results is composed of a number of points representing the object to be scanned. The process of extracting the necessary information, including dimensions, from such scan data is called paradox. The reverse engineering process of modeling a point cloud as BIM involves considerable manual work. Owing to the time-consuming reverse engineering nature of the work, the costs increase exponentially when rework requests are made, such as design changes. Reverse engineering automation technology can help improve these problems. On the other hand, the reverse design product is variable depending on the use, and the kind and detail level of the product may be different. This paper proposes the G2BM (Geometry-to-BIM mapping) rule definition method that automatically maps a BIM object from a primitive geometry to a BIM object. G2BM proposes a process definition and a customization method for reverse engineering BIM objects that consider the use case variability.

A Study on the Utilization of BIM Model using Vertex Data-based Division Method (정점데이터기반 분할기법을 활용한 BIM모델의 활용 방안 연구)

  • The BIM (Building Information Modeling) model created in the design stage can be used for prior review and schedule management for the construction stage. However, in the case of actual BIM application cases, additional work is required, such as creating a new model suitable for the construction stage, rather than using the 3D model in the design stage, due to the difference in the purpose of use between the design stage and the construction stage. Therefore, in this study, a division function of BIM model is proposed as a method of recycling it in the construction stage without a remodeling process. In addition, the application to the actual BIM model and the 4D CAD system linkage of the divided object and the comparison with the existing division method are used to verify the usability.
