  • 3D graphic softwares have brought design spaces beyond the limitations of Euclidean space. Moreover, as computational geometry has been considered together with algorithms, generative algorithms are being evolved. Recently 3D graphic softwares with the embedded generative algorithms allow designers to design free form curves and surfaces in a systematic way. While architectural design has been greatly affected by the advancement of 3D graphic technology, such attention has not given in the realm of structural design. Grasshopper is a platform in Rhino to deal with these Generative Algorithms and Associative modelling techniques. This study has tried to develop a module for preliminary structural configuration using Rhino with Grasshopper. To verify the proposed concept in this study, a module for designing a basic type of suspension structure is introduced.

  • S/W의 구성은 기능을 실제로 수행하는 계산처리부와 사용자와 정보를 주고받는 User Interface부로 크게 나누어 볼 수 있다. 대부분의 S/W는 그 기능의 충실도와 아울러 편리한 사용법이 잘 어울려야 제역할을 할 수 있다. 따라서 편리한 User Interface를 만드는 일은 훌륭한 기능을 제공하는 것과 마찬가지로 S/W 개발자들이 지향해야 할 목표중 하나라 하겠다. 그러나 편리한 User Interface를 만드는 일은 전체 시스템개발 기간중 상당한 부분을 차지한다. 특히 CAD/CAM관련 S/W와 같이 사용자와 정보를 Graphic으로 주고받는 경우에는 User Interface의 구성이 더욱 더 어려워지며, 개발기간중 User Interace가 차지하는 비중은 더욱 커지게 된다. GUI는 최근들어 상당히 각광을 받고 있는 분야이며, 상당수의 GUI가 개발되어 있고, 이중 Unix용의 X-Window MS-DOS용의 MS-WINDOWS 3.0이 널리 사용되고 있다. 그러나 이러한 Window System들은 매우 다양한 기능을 제공하고 있음에도 불구하고, GUI자체의 덩치가 매우크고, S/W개발자가 익혀야하는 내용이 너무 복잡하여, 중/소형의 S/W개발에 사용하기에는 적합하지 않다. 본 연구에서는 GUI(Graphic User Interface)부분을 계산처리부와 완전분리하여, 범용성있는 개발용 Tool Kit을 구성함으로써 S/W개발자는 계산처리부만을 만들면되는 방안을 제시하고 있다. GS-GUI는 Menu처리부, Mouse/Keyboard입력처리부, Text/Graphic출력처리부로 나뉘어진다. Menu처리부는 Menu File로 주어지는 Menu Tree를 Pop-Up형태로 보여주며 User가 Menu를 선택할 수 있도록하며 선택된 Menu Item에 대한 Action Code를 계산처리부로 넘겨준다. 입력처리부에서는 Mouse와 Keyboard 어느것으로나 입력이 가능하도록 해준다. 출력처리부에서는 Action Code에 따라 계산처리부에서 계산된 결과를 화면에 보여주기 위한 각종 2D/3D Graphic Routine들이 포함되어있어 계산처리부에서 불러쓰도록 되어있다.

  • Due to the advance of H/W and S/W techniques to play 3D sound, the virtual space contented by 3D graphics and sounds can provide users more improved realities and vividness. However for the small 3D contents developers and companies, it is hard to implement 3D sound techniques because the implementation requires expensive sound engines, 3D sound technical understanding and 3D sound programming skills. Therefore 3D-sound-playing-interface is necessary to easy and cost-effective 3D sound implementation. Using this interface, graphics experts can easily add 3D sound techniques to their applications. In this paper, the followings are designed and implemented as a preliminary stage in the way of developing the 3D sound playing interface. First, we develop 3D sound S/W modules converting mono to 3D sound in PC based systems. Second, we develop the interconnection modules to map 3D graphic objects and sound sources. The developed modules in this paper can allow the user to percept sound source position and surround effect at the moving positions in the virtual world. In the coming works, we are going to develop the more completed 3D sound playing interface consisted of the synchronization technique for sound and moving objects, and HRTF.

  • The process equipment and remote handling for the deep geological disposal of high-level radioactive waste(HLW) should be checked prior to the operation in view of reliability and operability. In this study, the concept of virtual environment workcell is implemented to analyze and define the feasible disposal process instead of real mock-up, which is very expensive and time consuming. To do this, the parts of process equipment for the disposal and maintenance will be modeled in 3-D graphics, assembled, and kinematics will be assigned. Also, the virtual workcell for the encapsulation and disposal process of spent fuel will be implemented in the graphical environment, which is the same as the real environment. This virtual workcell will have the several functions for verification such as analyses for the equipment's work space, the collision detection, the path planning and graphic simulation of the processes etc. This graphic virtual workcell of the HLW disposal process can be effectively used in designing of the processes for the hot cell equipment and enhance the reliability of the spent fuel management.

  • In this paper, we propose a CUDA(Common Unified Device Architecture) based SW(software) design method for CPU(Central Processing Unit) and GPU(Graphic Processing Unit) parallel structure to implement real-time process in 3D Laser ladar(LADAR) imaging system. LADAR is a complex system to generate 3-dimensional image based on the laser ranging information, and requires massive process resources in each phase. Therefore, designing and implementing parallel structure are crucial to realize a real-time process within limited system resource. As a conclusion, we can meet the speed of required real-time process allocating separable work load to CUDA GPU by analyzing process algorithm in each phase and confirm the process speed increase by 46%.

  • Aeromagnetic survey generally require much more pre-processing steps than that of common land survey due to several complex and cumbersome steps included in pre-processing stage. Therefore it is desirable to use specific processing tool especially based on graphic user interface. For this purpose, aeromagnetic pre-processing software based on graphic user interface under the Windows environment, called $KMagLevelling^{TM}$ was developed and briefly introduced. In an aspect of its user-friendliness and originality, three noticeable features of $KMagLevelling^{TM}$ are summarized as the following (1) function of representation and handling for large amount of aeromagnetic data set as a visualization in the form of flight-path (2) function of selective exclusion of unwanted data by using survey area information expressed as polygon, and (3) function of selective removal processing for the irregular flight-path data acquired within the entire survey area by implementing the segmentation of flight-path technique.

  • As a consequent result of our previous paper, "Development of Automatic Data Generation Program for Finite Element Structural Analysis of Oil Tankers"[1], the objective of this paper is to develop an automatic modeling program for the three-dimensional finite element structural analysis of hull modules of general commercial ships, especially oil tankers, bulk carriers, and container ships. Based on the proposed algorithm in [1], the followings are newly added: general applicability for three ship types, automatic mesh division interface with MSC/NASTRAN, direct wave load calculation interface, and Graphic User Interface technology in the process of input data preparation. The usefulness of this procedure is verified by calculation examples. examples.

  • The inner space of building is increasingly becoming complex as urban activities increase in variety, and the actual space size also increases. This trend necessitate the utilization of three dimensional position information within the inner space of buildings. Standard GIS web service technology and visualization technology are applied to 3D inner space building data to share these information for better decision making in building related applications such as fire evacuation, facilities management and market analysis. This study aims to effectively model and visualize the three dimensional space of building interiors in the GIS aspect, and to be able to share the information through standard GIS web service. The various elements of inner model was assigned and stored into pre-designed spatial database tables respectively. GIS web server was then configured to service the database which was populated with 3D inner model data. On the client side, 3D visualization modules was developed using a 3D graphic rendering S/W engine.

  • In a shipyard, computer calculation is not frequently used for the grain stability calculation because of large difference between calculation values and real values. Therefore, the necessary calculation process for grain stability is done manually. GUI(Graphical User Interface) is adopted for the convenience of users and interactive data I/O. The hold shape (girder, hold, etc.)needed for calculation are visualized using GLBAX which is a 3 dimensional graphic library. The interface with the ship basic calculation package is also implemented. The aim of this paper is to develop a reliable interactive grain stability calculation program which reduces computational time, and is to computerize the grain stability calculation procedure.
