  • The purpose of this research is to investigate optimum machining conditions to improve the quality of die using the CAD/CAM system(Power Shape/Power Mill) and 3D printing. Surface roughness is widely used as an index for processing degree of accuracy. The Power Shape was used to model the shape of product. And the model shape is confirmed by 3D printing system(BFB-3000). Also, tool path and NC-codes were generated using Power Mill. Finally, the product was cut using CNC machine(NBS-2025). The cutting time and surface roughness were measured by measuring instrument. And then this process was repeated by changing the conditions to find optimal machining conditions. The surface roughness behavior with regard to specific factors were analyzed. Through this study, the optimal machining condition can be obtained.

  • 3D printing products manufactured by material extrusion are used in many industrial fields recently. However, these products are difficult to use in the field due to their low tensile strengths. In order to solve this problem, research on improving the tensile strength of the output using a 3D printer has been continuously conducted. In this study, we performed a tensile test using Universal Testing Machine according to infill pattern, nozzle temperature, bed temperature, and printing speed conditions. Results revealed that tensile specimen of concentric shape had the highest tensile strength in infill pattern condition and that the tensile strength increased linearly with increasing nozzle and bed temperatures. However, the tensile strength decreased with increasing printing speed. Consequently, we confirmed that tensile strength could be increased and decreased depending on output conditions of 3D printing.

  • In this study, we developed a 3D chocolate printer and studied the conditions needed for chocolate printing. Because chocolate is a mixture of cocoa mass, cocoa butter and sugar particles, its properties vary with temperature, and care is required in melting and extrusion. A chocolate supply unit is composed of a heating block and a syringe pump. It is integrated with a 3-axis linear robot. In order to be more accurate than the existing 3D chocolate printer is, the system was configured so that the printing line width became $430{\mu}m$. Printing performance was studied according to various parameters. The condition needed for printing lines with a stable width was discovered by the experimental design method and has been confirmed by a 2D line test. These 3D printing experiments showed that it was possible to build a 3D shape with an inclination angle of up to $45^{\circ}$ without support. Further, chocolate printing of a 3D shape has been successfully verified with the developed system.

  • Since the early 2000s, various fashion design products that use 3D printing technology have constantly been introduced to the fashion industry. However, given the nature of 3D printing technology, the flexible characteristics of material of textile fabrics is yet to be achieved. The aim of this study is to develop the optimal design conditions for production of flexible and elastic 3D printing fabric structure based on plain weave, which is the basic structure in fabric weaving using SLS 3D printing technology. As a the result this study aims to utilize appropriate design conditions as basic data for future study of flexible fashion product design such as textile material. Weaving structural design using 3D printing is based on the basic plain weave, and the warp & weft thickness of 4mm, 3mm, 2mm, 1.5mm, 1mm, and 0.7mm as expressed in Rhino 6.0 CAD software program for making a 3D model of size $1800mm{\times}180mm$ each. The completed 3D digital design work was then applied to the EOS SLS Machine through Maker ware, a program for 3D printer output, using polyamide 12 material which has a rigid durability strength, and the final results obtained through bending flexibility tests. In conclusion, when designing the fabric structure design in 3D printing using SLS method through application of polyamide 12 material, the thickness of 1 mm presented the optimal condition in order to design a durable digital textile structure with flexibility and elasticity of the 3D printing result.

  • Plastic, the main material of FFF-type 3D printing, exhibits lower strength compared to metal. research aimed at increasing strength is needed for use in various industrial fields. This study analyzed three X-shape infill patterns(grid, lines, zigzag) with similar internal lattice structure. Moreover, tensile test considering weight and printing time was conducted based on the infill line multiplier and infill overlap percentage. The three X-shape infill patterns(grid, lines, zigzag) showed differences in nozzle paths, material usage and printing time. When infill line multiplier increased, there was a proportional increase in tensile strength/weight and tensile strength/printing time. In terms of infill overlap percentage, the grid pattern at 50% and the zigzag and lines patterns at 75% demonstrated the most efficient performance.

  • In this study, we experimentally evaluated the mechanical properties and geometric form accuracy in FDM 3D printing processes based on the printing direction, building direction, and layer thickness. The specimen test results showed that the tensile strength increased by over 33% in the printing direction compared to the direction perpendicular to printing and the tensile strength becomes larger as the layer thickness decreased. Furthermore, the tensile and impact strengths in the building direction were significantly reduced due to the difference in the interlayer joining and bonding strengths of the fused material. Additionally, shrinkage of the material due to phase change induced curl distortion especially in thin and long 3D-printed products, which increased as the layer thickness increased.

  • 3D printing cement-based materials (3DPCBM) is an innovative rapid prototyping technology for construction materials. This study is tested on the rheological behavior, printability and buildability of steel slag (SS) content based on the extrusion system of 3D printing. 0, 8 wt%, 16 wt%, 24 wt%, 32 wt% and 40 wt% SS was replaced cement, The test results revealed that the addition of SS would increase the fluidity of the printed paste, prolong the open time and setting time, reduce the plastic viscosity, dynamic yield stress and thixotropy, and is beneficial to improve the pumping and extrudability of 3DPCBM. With the increase of SS content, the static yield stress developed slowly with time which indicated that SS is harmful to the buildability of printing paste. The content of SS in 3DPCBM can reach up to 40% at most under the condition of satisfying rheological property and buildability, it provides a reference for the subsequent introduction of SS and other industrial solid waste into 3DPCBM by explored the influence law of SS on the rheological properties of 3DPCBM.

  • 3D printing is a technology that can transform and process computerized data obtained through modeling or 3D scanning via CAD. In the medical field, studies on customized 3D printing technology for clinical use or patients and diseases continue. The importance of research on filaments and molding methods is increasing, but research on manufacturing methods and available raw materials is not being actively conducted. In this study, we compare the characteristics of each material according to the manufacturing method of the phantom manufactured with 3D printing technology and evaluate its usefulness. We manufactured phantoms of the same size using poly methyl meta acrylate (PMMA), acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), and Poly Lactic Acid (PLA) based on the international standard phantom of aluminum step wedge. We used SITEC's radiation generator (DigiRAD-FPC R-1000-150) and compared the shielding rate and line attenuation coefficient through the average after shooting 10 times. As a result, in the case of the measured dose transmitted through each phantom, it was confirmed that the appearance of the dose measured for phantoms decreased linearly as the thickness increased under each condition. The sensitivity also decreased as the steps increased for each phantom and confirmed that it was different depending on the thickness and material. Through this study, we confirmed that 3D printing technology can be usefully used for phantom production in the medical field. If further development of printing technology and studies on various materials are conducted, it is believed that they will contribute to the development of the medical research environment.

  • Using the 3D printing method in the product manufacturing is a very innovative and useful technology. However, in the field of jewelry, it is a limited technology used only in a field of manufacturing process. To overcome this limitations in the jewelry production process, most popular and easy 3D printing method was selected, and the printing time and condition was limited. In this study, to find out the 3D printing method applicability to jewelry work manufacturing, the prototypes through casting and non-casting methods were completed and compared. As a result, the FDM printing method has a very positive advantage in terms of cost and time, but there is a disadvantage that the layered structure is not erased on the surface and the completeness of the surface forming is poor due to the residue of the filament generated during the printing process. The DLP printing method has the advantage that the surface treatment is even and completion is high, while the cost and time are inefficient. However, both printing methods were found to be suitable for the use of jewelry manufacturing, and if the efficient printing method was selected for the design of the jewelry in the future, better work research could be conducted.
