INS/Vision Integrated Navigation System Considering Error Characteristics of Landmark-Based Vision Navigation (랜드마크 기반 비전항법의 오차특성을 고려한 INS/비전 통합 항법시스템)

  • The paper investigates the geometric effect of landmarks to the navigation error in the landmark based 3D vision navigation and introduces the INS/Vision integrated navigation system considering its effect. The integrated system uses the vision navigation results taking into account the dilution of precision for landmark geometry. Also, the integrated system helps the vision navigation to consider it. An indirect filter with feedback structure is designed, in which the position and the attitude errors are measurements of the filter. Performance of the integrated system is evaluated through the computer simulations. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm works well and that better performance can be expected when the error characteristics of vision navigation are considered.

  • Urban air mobility (UAM) is emerging as a revolutionary transportation solution to urban congestion and environmental issues. Especially, electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft are expected to enhance urban mobility, reduce traffic congestion, and decrease environmental pollution. However, the successful implementation and operation of UAM systems heavily rely on advanced technological infrastructure, particularly in sensor technology. Among these, 3D light detection and ranging (LiDAR) systems are essential for detecting obstacles and generating pathways in complex urban environments. This paper focuses on the challenges of developing LiDAR-based perception solutions, emphasizing the importance and performance of object detection capabilities using 3D LiDAR. It integrates LiDAR data processing algorithms and object detection methodologies to experimentally validate the effectiveness of perception solutions that contribute to the safe navigation of aircraft. This research significantly enhances the ability of aircraft to recognize and avoid obstacles effectively within urban settings.

dLoran Measurement in Yeongil Bay using the Pohang Loran-C (9930M) (포항 로란-C(9930M) 이용 영일만 dLoran 측정)

  • There are three essential components of eLoran: dLoran, data map of ASF, and the Loran data channel. Particularly, dLoran improves navigation accuracy, which is the core technology of eLoran systems. The requirement of HEA's absolute accuracy, less than 20 meters, can be satisfied via dLoran measurements and their corrections. In this study, dLoran measurements using the Pohang Loran-C (9930M) station signal were conducted at Yeongil Bay. We established a dLoran reference station at Homigot Management Office for navigation aids within the Bay. We estimated the effectiveness of the dLoran between the reference site (Homigot Management Office) and a test site (Heunghwan beach) by measuring TOAs. We verified that the TOA data measured at these two regions were highly correlated. The temporal differences in the data between the dLoran reference station and test site were about 10~30 ns per day, which is equivalent to a ranging error of 3~9 m. This result shows that eLoran can meet the requirement of 8~20 meters position accuracy for maritime HEA by correcting the ASF at the user's receiver.

  • In this paper, a frequency tripler has been designed with 100mW medium-power using P-HEMT. It is designed to obtain 7.2 GHz frequency at the output that is an integer multiple of 2.4 GHz input frequency by using nonlinear device that produces 3rd harmonic. The frequency tripler is designed by using load-pull simulation. To suppress the 2nd and fundamental, notch filter is used for the frequency tripler. The tripler is designed to obtain about 21dBm output power with 15 dBm input, i.e., 6 dB conversion gain and the suppression of 20 dBc at fundamental, and 30 dBc at the second harmonics.

Analysis of Jamming Robustness Performance According to RNSS Signal Waveforms

  • As the importance and dependency of the positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) information provided by the radio navigation satellite service (RNSS) increases, the vulnerability of RNSS to jamming can lead to significant risks. The signal design under the consideration of anti-jamming performance helps to provide service which is robust to jamming environment. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate the jamming robustness performance during the design of new signals. In this paper, we introduce figures-of-merit (FoMs) that can be used for an anti-jamming performance analysis of designed signals of interest. We then calculate the FoMs, such as the quality factor (Q factor), tolerable jamming-to-signal ratio (tolerable J/S), and range to jammer (d) for legacy RNSS signals and analyze the results. Finally, based on the results of the analysis, we derive waveform design conditions to obtain good anti-jamming performance. As a result, this paper shows that the waveforms with wide bandwidth leading to good spectral efficiency provide strong anti-jamming performance.

  • In progress to ubiquitous intelligent society, there are emerging technologies such smart wear related researches as wearable computer, smart fiber and smart fashion. In this paper, wearable 3D information acquisition device which improved both advanced in convenience and portable is implemented. 3D information input system is basically grouped of some modules; Gyro sensor for acquisition of 3D space coordinate, RF transmitter/receiver, and signal processing module etc. To testify the validity of designed system, some experiments are performed using lest board with respect to the communication distance, easiness of wearable and operation sensibility.

Efficient Path Finding in 3D Games by Using Visibility Tests (가시성 검사를 이용한 3차원 게임에서의 효율적인 경로 탐색)

  • The navigation mesh represents a terrain as a set of triangles on which characters may move around. The navigation mesh cab be generated automatically, and it is more flexible in representing 3D surface. The number of triangles to represent a terrain may vary according to the structure of the terrain. As characters are moving around on a navigation mesh, the path planning can be performed more easily by projecting the 3D surfaces into 2D space. However, when the terrain is represented with an elaborated mesh of large number of triangles to achieve more realistic movements, the path finding can be very inefficient because there are too many states(triangles) to be searched. In this paper, we propose an efficient method of path finding in 3D games where the terrain is represented by navigation meshes. Our method uses the visibility tests. When the graph-based search is applied to elaborated polygonal meshes for detailed terrain representation, the path finding can be very inefficient because there are too many states(polygons) to be searched. In our method, we reduce the search space by using visibility tests so that the search can be fast even on the detailed terrain with large number of polygons. First we find the visible vertices of the obstacles, and define the heuristic function as the distance to the goal through those vertices. By doing that, the number of states that the graph-based search visits can be substantially reduced compared to the plane search with straight-line distance heuristic.

Dual-Band Antenna Design for LTE/Wi-Fi for Maritime Broadband Communication (해상 광대역 통신을 위한 LTE/Wi-Fi용 이중대역 안테나 설계)

  • In this paper, we design an antenna for LTE / Wi-Fi communication that operates in 2.65 GHz and 5 GHz band for small-sized broadband communication antenna that can be used in the sea. Microstrip patch antennas were chosen to improve the bandwidth. The slot width, length, and transmission line width were calculated using the theoretical formula for each step. In addition, we designed a microstrip antenna using CST Microwave Studio 2014 program that can design 3D. Simulation results show that the reflection lossis -12.712 dB at 2.65 GHz and -16.583 dB at 5 GHz. The gain was 1.738 dBi at 2.65 GHz and 3.284 dBi at 5 GHz. In this paper, we propose a dual-band antenna for LTE / Wi-Fi, which can be used in maritime environments, which is worse than terrestrial communication, because of differences in communication speed and communication stability compared with those used on land.
