Experimental Study on Hydrodynamic Characteristics of Dam Break Flow for Estimation of Green Water Loading (청수현상 추정을 위한 댐 붕괴 흐름의 유체동역학적 특성에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • In this study, hydrodynamic characteristics of dam break flow were investigated by a series of experiments. The experiments were performed in a 2-D rectangular flume with obtaining instantaneous images of dam break flow to capture the free surface elevation, and pressure distributions on vertical wall and bottom of the flume. The initial water depth of the dam break flow was changed into 3 different heights, and the gate opening speed was changed during the experiments to study the effect of the gate speed in the dam break flow. Generation of dam break phenomena could be classified into three stages, i.e., very initial, relatively stable, and wall impact stages. The wall impact stage could be separated into 4 generation phases of wall impinge, run-up, overturning, and touchdown phases based on the deformation of the free surface. The free surface elevation were investigated with various initial water depth and compared with the analytic solutions by Ritter (1892). The pressures acting on the vertical wall and bottom were provided for the whole period of dam break flow varying the initial water depth and gate open speed. The measurement results of the dam break flow was compared with the hydrodynamic characteristics of green water phenomena, and it showed that the dam break flow could overestimate the green water loading based on the estimation suggested by Buchner (2002).

Ideal Nasal Preferences: A Quantitative Investigation with 3D Imaging in the Iranian Population

  • Background Though in facial plastic surgery, the ideal nasal characteristics are defined by average European-American facial features known as neoclassical cannons, many ethnicities do not perceive these characteristics as suitable. Methods To investigate the preferences for nasofrontal angle, nasolabial angle, dorsal height, alar width, and nasal tip projection, manipulated pictures of one male and one female model were shown to 203 volunteer patients from a tertiary university hospital's facial plastic clinic. Results The most aesthetically preferred nasofrontal angles were 137.64 ± 4.20 degrees for males and 133.55 ± 4.53 degrees for females. Acute nasofrontal angles were more desirable in participants aged 25 to 44. The most preferred nasolabial angles were 107.56 ± 5.20 degrees and 98.92 ± 4.88 degrees, respectively. Volunteers aged 19 to 24 preferred more acute male nasolabial angles. A straight dorsum was the most desirable in both genders (0.03 ± 0.78 and 0.26 ± 0.75 mm, respectively). The ideal male and female alar widths were -0.51 ± 2.26 and -1.09 ± 2.18 mm, respectively. More 45- to 64-year-old volunteers preferred alar widths equal to intercanthal distance. The ideal female and male tip projections were 0.57 ± 0.01 and 0.56 ± 0.01, respectively. Conclusion Results indicate that the general Iranian patients prefer thinner female noses with wider nasofrontal angles for both genders. However, the ideal nasolabial angles, dorsal heights, and tip projections were consistent with the neoclassical cannons. Besides ethnic differences, the trend of nasal beauty is also affected by gender, age, and prior history of aesthetic surgery.

Cone-beam computed tomographic evaluation of the root canal anatomy of the lower premolars and molars in a Brazilian sub-population

  • Purpose: This study evaluated anatomical variations in the root canals of the lower premolars and molars in a Brazilian sub-population using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Materials and Methods: In total, 121 CBCT images of patients were selected from a database. All images contained lower first and second premolars and molars on both sides of the arch, fully developed roots, and no treatment, resorption, or calcifications. In each image, the root canals of the lower premolars and molars were evaluated according to the Vertucci classification in On-Demand 3D software in the multiplanar reconstruction with dynamic navigation. Twenty-five percent of the images were re-assessed to analyze intraobserver confidence with the kappa test. Data were statistically evaluated with linear regression to evaluate the correlations of anatomic variations with age and sex, and the Wilcoxon test to analyze the laterality of variations, with a significance level of 5%. Results: The intraobserver agreement (0.94) was excellent. In general, the root canals of lower premolars and molars showed a higher prevalence of type I than other Vertucci classification types, followed by type V in premolars and type II in molars. When the molar roots were evaluated separately, type II was more frequent in mesial roots and type I in distal roots. Although age showed no correlations with the results, sex and laterality showed correlations with tooth 45 and the lower second premolars, respectively. Conclusion: The lower premolars and molars of a Brazilian sub-population showed a wide range of root canal anatomic variations.

One of the reasons is that this industry compasses every aspects of the value chain - from raw materials to design and development, manufacturing, sales and services, and even disposal. Thus, the industry needs significant upfront capital investment and requires years of R&D and market development. As a result, this industry is dominated by a handful of global players and it is not easy for a new entrant to enter this industry. Furthermore, success is even more difficult to achieve. How did Hyundai Motor make it in this tough marketplace? Can it continue against all odds? The CAGR for last 5 years is 12% and it stands at 6th in the world. Compared to other global brands, Hyundai has geographically well-balanced sales portfolio. The quality improvement is outstanding. The brand performance follows these quality and sales improvements. Yet, the global competition is ever intensifying. Now, it is the time to step up once more. The next strategic goal needs fundamental shift toward brand and marketing-focus. In constructing global marketing strategy, Hyundai Motor's vision is "Lifetime partner in mobility and beyond" and its goal is global top 3 brand by year 2015 through modern premium brand image and selling 5 million vehicles. The target brand positioning of Hyundai Motor is the leading position in premium dimension and stylish/modern dimension. The global brand strategy framework is based on the brand direction of "Modern Premium" and is designed to deliver core brand identity (i.e., Simple, Creative, Caring) to customers. In order to manage brand performance, Hyundai's marketing platformalso includes marketing performance management, brand performance management, and market driven organization. From this diagnosis, Hyundai Motor is well posed to build a strong brand. Nevertheless, there are still challenges ahead from consumer, technology, competitor, and macro-environment perspectives. To overcome these threats, the bases of competition for all successful automotive brands are various differentiation factors, including technology, performance, value proposition, or heritage. Hyundai Motor is well prepared so far. However, it is not tested against time yet whether Hyundai can overcome these unforeseeable major threats. Hyundai is trying to find the solution from a strong brand, while believing in "New Thinking. New Possibilities."

Implementation of AESA Radar Integration Analysis System by using Heterogeneous Media

  • In this paper, implement and propose an Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar integration analysis system which specialized for radar development by using heterogeneous media. Most analysis systems are used to analyze and improve the cause of defects, so they help the test easier. However, previous log analysis systems that operate only based on text are not intuitive and difficult to find the information user want at once if there is a lot of log information. so when an equipment defect occurs, there are limitations in analyzing the cause of defect. Therefore, the analysis system in this paper utilizes heterogeneous media. The media defined in this paper refers to recording text-based data, displaying data as image or video and visualizing data. The proposed analysis system classifies and stores data that transmitted and received between radar devices, radar target detection and Tracking algorithm data, etc. also displays and visualizes radar operation results and equipment defect information in real time. With this analysis system, it can quickly provide information what user want and assistance in developing high quality radar.

Non-pneumatic Tire Design System based on Generative Adversarial Networks (적대적 생성 신경망 기반 비공기압 타이어 디자인 시스템)

  • The design of non-pneumatic tires, which are created by filling the space between the wheel and the tread with elastomeric compounds or polygonal spokes, has become an important research topic in the automotive and aerospace industries. In this study, a system was designed for the design of non-pneumatic tires through the implementation of a generative adversarial network. We specifically examined factors that could impact the design, including the type of non-pneumatic tire, its intended usage environment, manufacturing techniques, distinctions from pneumatic tires, and how spoke design affects load distribution. Using OpenCV, various shapes and spoke configurations were generated as images, and a GAN model was trained on the projected GANs to generate shapes and spokes for non-pneumatic tire designs. The designed non-pneumatic tires were labeled as available or not, and a Vision Transformer image classification AI model was trained on these labels for classification purposes. Evaluation of the classification model show convergence to a near-zero loss and a 99% accuracy rate confirming the generation of non-pneumatic tire designs.

A Kinematical Analysis of Mae-ukemi (forward breakfall) in Judo (유도전방낙법의 운동학적 특성 분석[I])

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze kinematic variables of a Mae-ukemi (forward breakfall :MU) in Judo through 3-D image analysis with five Judoka with over 2 years' career (2nd dan, 3rd dan). The kinematic variables include posture, and distance variables; the mean values and the standard deviations for each variable were obtained to analyze kinematic variables of a MU in Judo. From the data analysis and discussion, the following conclusions were drawn : 1) Posture variables : The angles of wrists during right before Mae-ukemi (RBU) were extended from the just MU position(MUP) and flexed from in the right after MU(RAU), and there was a difference in the displacement between the angles of the right and left wrists. The angles of elbows were flexed in the ready position from in the RAU. The angles of ankles were flexed from the ready position to that down position, extended from the down position to that transition, and flexed from the transition positiont to that RAU. 2) Distance variables : The distance height between the mat and shoulders in the RBU(32.2cm) to in the MUP(18.3cm) and in the RAU(20.5cm). during that height between the mat and hips in the RBU(48.0cm) to in the MUP(23.4cm), and in the RAU(30.6cm).

Geometry of Resident's ridge with Multidetector-Row Computed Tomograph Image (다중검출기 컴퓨터 단층 영상 분석을 이용한 Resident's ridge의 형태학적 연구)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to report the real geometry of Resident's ridge doing in anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction Materials and Methods: From Jan 2007 to Aug 2007, 48 cases which had normal distal femoral condyle analyzed with Multidetector-Row Computed Tomography. Resident's ridge was defined as change of height above 1 mm in lateral wall of intercondylar notch. Anterior-posterior length of intercondylar notch, length and height of Resident's ridge, distance of Resident's ridge from posterior cortex were estimated with 3-D reconstruction using $Lucion^{(R)}$ program. Results: Cases were $59{\pm}16$ years olds and male was 16 cases, female was 32 cases. 9 cases had no Resident's ridge, anterior-posterior length of intercondylar notch was $25.4{\pm}3.5$ mm, average of length and height of the Resident's ridge was $8.2{\pm}2.6,\;3.5{\pm}1.5$ mm. Distance of the Resident's ridge from posterior cortex was $7.6{\pm}2.6$ mm. Conclusion: Resident's ridge was used as landmark in anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, which presented in many cases and which had distinct length and height.

Evaluation of marginal leakage of bulk fill flowable composite resin filling with different curing time using micro-computed tomography technology (Bulk fill 유동성 복합레진의 변연 누출에서 다른 중합시간의 영향에 대해 마이크로시티를 이용한 평가)

  • Purpose: To evaluate marginal leakage of bulk fill flowable composite resin filling with different curing time by using microcomputed tomography technology. Materials and Methods: 30 previously extracted human molars were randomly divided into 6 groups based upon restorative system and different curing time. Class II cavities (vertical slot cavities) were prepared. An individual metallic matrix was used to build up the proximal wall. The SonicFill or SureFil SDR flow was inserted into the preparation by using 1 bulk increment, followed by light polymerization for different curing times. The different exposure times were 20, 40, and 60 seconds. All specimens were submitted to 5,000 thermal cycles for artificial aging. Micro-CT scanning was performed by using SkyScan 1272. One evaluator assessed microleakage of silver nitrated solution at the resin-dentin interface. The 3D image of each leakage around the restoration was reconstructed with CT-Analyser V.1.14.4. The leakage was analyzed with the Mann-Whitney test. Results: Significant differences were observed between the light curing times, but no significant differences were found between the bulk fill composite resins. Increasing in the photoactivation time resulted in greater microleakage in all the experimental groups. Those subjected to 60 seconds of light curing showed higher microleakage means than those exposed for 20 seconds and 40 seconds. Conclusion: Increasing the photoactivation time is factor that may increase marginal microlekage of the bulk fill composite resins. Further, micro-CT can nondestructively detect leakage around the resin composite restoration in three dimensions.

A Study on the Estimation of Multi-Object Social Distancing Using Stereo Vision and AlphaPose (Stereo Vision과 AlphaPose를 이용한 다중 객체 거리 추정 방법에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, We are carrying out a policy of physical distancing of at least 1m from each other to prevent the spreading of COVID-19 disease in public places. In this paper, we propose a method for measuring distances between people in real time and an automation system that recognizes objects that are within 1 meter of each other from stereo images acquired by drones or CCTVs according to the estimated distance. A problem with existing methods used to estimate distances between multiple objects is that they do not obtain three-dimensional information of objects using only one CCTV. his is because three-dimensional information is necessary to measure distances between people when they are right next to each other or overlap in two dimensional image. Furthermore, they use only the Bounding Box information to obtain the exact coordinates of human existence. Therefore, in this paper, to obtain the exact two-dimensional coordinate value in which a person exists, we extract a person's key point to detect the location, convert it to a three-dimensional coordinate value using Stereo Vision and Camera Calibration, and estimate the Euclidean distance between people. As a result of performing an experiment for estimating the accuracy of 3D coordinates and the distance between objects (persons), the average error within 0.098m was shown in the estimation of the distance between multiple people within 1m.
