In this paper, we propose implementation of 3D fashion show animation based on web which needs a construction of 3D fashion shopping mall. The 3D model made by 3D MAX program was exported XML type and displayed on web using ActiveX of D3D library. For the purpose of fashion show animation of 3D model in various clothes which selected by customer of shopping mall, we design the parts of standard clothes with hierarchical structure and assemble them. Next, we are mapping the various textures to them and animate 3D model in similar clothes which selected by customer on web.

During the lifecycle of a nuclear power plant many organizations are involved in KOREA. Korea Plant Engineering Co. (KOPEC) participates in the design stage, Korea Hydraulic and Nuclear Power (KHNP) operates and manages all nuclear power plants in KOREA, Dusan Heavy Industries manufactures the main equipment, and a construction company constructs the plant. Even though each organization has a digital data management system inside and obtains a certain level of automation, data sharing among organizations is poor. KHNP gets drawing and technical specifications from KOPEC in the form of paper. It results in manual re-work of definition and there are potential errors in the process. A data warehouse based on a neutral model has been constructed in order to make an information bridge between design and O&M phases. GPM(generic product model), a data model from Hitachi, Japan is addressed and extended in this study. GPM has a similar architecture with ISO 15926 "life cycle data for process plant". The extension is oriented to nuclear power plants. This paper introduces some of implementation results: 1) 2D piping and instrument diagram (P&ID) and 3D CAD model exchanges and their visualization; 2) Interface between GPM-based data warehouse and KHNP ERP system.

Although there are many needs to use 3D models in MEMS field, it is not easy to generate 3D models based on MEMS CAD. This is because MEMS CAD is based on 2D and their popular format-GDSII file format- has its own limits and problems. The differences between GDSII file format and 3D CAD system, such as (1) superposed modeling, (2) duplicated entity, (3) restricted of entity type, give rise to several problems in data exchange. These limits and problems in GDSII file format have prevented 3D CAD system from generating 3D models from the MEMS CAD. To remove these limits and solve problems, it is important to extract the silhouette of data in the MEMS CAD. The proposed method has two main processes to extract silhouette; one is to extract the pseudo-silhouette from the original 2D MEMS data and the other is to remove useless objects to complete the silhouette. The paper reports on the experience gained in data exchange between 2D MEMS data and 3D models by the proposed method and a case study is presented, which employs the proposed method using MEMS CAD IntelliMask and Solidworks.

Using standard components of a press die is recognized as a way for a cost reduction and a short lead time. It also provides a way for a quick maintenance of a die under repair. It is expected to contribute to integration of CAD/CAM system for manufacturing dies in the future. This paper presents a 3D CAD library which is constructed using the standard components and is used for designing a press die. This 3D CAD library is generated by a database system made of Microsoft Access for standard components and by CATIA V5 R10 API for geometric features. The library is implemented using Visual Basic 6.0 utility of CATIA API function in the Windows NT environment. It creates a 3D model of the standard components of press die easily when a die designer inputs numerical values of geometric features and the BOM of the completely assembled parts. It also generates automatically the assembly drawing of die set by using variables for standard values of die parts. Therefore users can save the cost of time to design the press die components, and even a beginner can use this program with ease. The test results of the 3D CAD library for designing shearing and bending dies verify its usefulness and feasibility.

PSC box girder bridges are built through the repetitive manufacturing process of concrete segment. However, during the initial segment manufacturing stage, design change may occur frequently due to design errors and interferences between components, resulting in the extension of segment manufacturing period. This paper aims to verify the manufacturing process of PSC box girder segment by 3D simulation technique. All the components of a segment were modelled and assembled by simulation technique and then, some design errors were found and revised appropriately to optimize the manufacturing process of segment. Consequently, 3D simulation technique would be promising to improve the quality of the segment and to reduce its manufacturing time and cost.

Recently, the small quantity batch production method has come into the spotlight as there are more plastic processing methods. At the same time, the 3D printer market has become globally widespread due to expired 3D printer patents. In particular, the FDM method is widely used for cheap products and materials. However, the FDM scheme is not as good as the injection molding method for quality and strength. This study investigated the effect of the internal filling and strength according to layer thickness to search for the optimum printing of the factors (infill and layer thickness) that determine the strength of the model.

The ship surveyor makes a scheme of reasonable ship operation by examining whether the ship has been properly constructed in accordance with the rule of classification societies and international conventions or whether the facilities of the ship in operation meet the standard stipulated by law. Even though the ship surveyors of classification society generally consist of people who have the skill of design or operation of a ship, it takes a long time to train a surveyor to the maturity level. This paper describes the development of survey simulator based on virtual ship environment that enables the surveyor minimize trial and errors to survey the ships. By using VR(Virtual Reality) based survey simulator, surveyors possibly achieve improvement of competence in survey quality by means of safe and immersive training environment. In order to improve the usability and utility of the VR simulator, the ship 3D model has been generated using 3D CAD model for design and production in shipyard. Through this, we suggested the possibility of consistent use of 3D model as the digital twin of a ship.

In order to make a virtual endoscopy system effective for exploring the interior of the 3D model of a human organ, it is necessary to generate an accurate navigation path located inside the 3D model and to obtain consistent camera position and pose estimation along the path. In this paper, we propose an approach to virtual navigation of blood vessels, which makes proper use of orthogonal contours and skeleton curves. The approach generates the orthogonal contours and the skeleton curves from the 3D mesh model and its voxel model, all of which represent the blood vessels. For a navigation zone specified by two nodes on the skeleton curves, it computes the shortest path between the two nodes, estimates the positions and poses of a virtual camera at the nodes in the navigation zone, and interpolates the positions and poses to make the camera move smoothly along the path. In addition to keyboard and mouse input, intuitive hand gestures determined by the Leap Motion SDK are used as user interface for virtual navigation of the blood vessels. The proposed approach provides easy and accurate means for the user to examine the interior of 3D blood vessels without any collisions between the camera and their surface. With a simple user study, we present illustrative examples of applying the approach to 3D mesh models of various blood vessels in order to show its quality and usefulness.
This study aimed to create 3D-printed insoles for flat-footed senior men using 3D systems. 3D systems are product-manufacturing systems that use 3-dimensional technologies like 3D scanning, 3D modeling, and 3D printing. This study used a 3D scanner (NexScan2), 3D CAD programs including Rapidform, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Nauta+ compiling program, and a 3D printer. In order to create insoles for flat-footed senior men, we analyzed horizontal sections of 3D foot scans We selected 20 flat-footed and 20 normal-footed subjects. To make the 3D insole models, we sliced nine lines on the surface of the subjects' 3D foot scans, and plotted 144 points on the lines. We calculated the average of these 3D coordinates, then located this average within the 3D space of the AutoCAD program and created 3D sole models using the loft surface tools of the SolidWorks program. The sole models for flat feet differed from those of normal feet in the depth of the arch at the inner sideline and the big toe line. We placed the normal-footed sole model on a flat-footed sole model, and the combination of the two models resulted in the 3D insole for flat feet. We printed the 3D modeled insole using a 3D printer. The 3D printing material was an acrylic resin similar to rubber. This made the insole model flexible and wearable. This study utilized 3D systems to create 3D insoles for flat-footed seniors and this process can be applied to manufacture other items in the fashion industry as well.

The aim of this paper is to design a 3D laser radar prototype based on laser triangulation. The mathematical model of distance sensitivity is deduced; a pixel-distance conversion formula is discussed and used to complete 3D scanning. The center position extraction algorithm of the spot is proposed, and the error of the linear laser, camera distortion and installation are corrected by using the proposed weighted average algorithm. Finally, the three-dimensional analytic computational algorithm is given to transform the measured distance into point cloud data. The experimental results show that this 3D laser radar can accomplish the 3D object scanning and the environment 3D reconstruction task. In addition, the experiment result proves that the product of the camera focal length and the baseline length is the key factor to influence measurement accuracy.
