Purpose: This study is to investigate factors affecting depression in nursing students. Methods: A survey was conducted with 216 nursing students in college at P city, D city, and K province. Data was collected from April 15 to May 21, 2018, and analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA and hierarchical regression with IBM SPSS Statistics 24.0. Results: There was a significant positive correlation between verbal violence and depression(r=.261, p<.001), between physical threat and depression(r=.291, p<.001). Also, Self-esteem had a significant positive correlation with resilience(r=.685, p<.001) and negative correlation with depression(r=-.590, p<.001). Moreover, resilience had a significant negative correlation with depression(r=-.612, p<.001). In the hierarchical analysis, factors affecting the nursing students' depression were resilience(${\beta}=-.337$, p<.001), self-esteem(${\beta}=-.279$, p<.001), physical threat(${\beta}=.177$, p=.001). The variable that had the highest impact on depression was resilience and the explanatory power of the regression model was 51.5%(F=17.965, p<.001). Conclusion: The findings of this study indicate that the major factors influencing nursing students depression are physical threat, self-esteem and resilience. Therefore, it suggests that an intervention program will be required to prevent violence during the clinical practice, enhances self-esteem and improves resilience in order to reduce depression of nursing students.

The aim of the study is to investigate the awareness towards drinking in the university students and to provide the basic data for more realistic and efficient drinking prevention policy. The subject of investigation was students at the Department of Medicine/Health and those at the Department of Engineering among students living in N city and D city and the survey, which was constructed by KPHA, was distributed to 300 students from March 4, 2013 to March 8, 2013 with explaning the purpose, contents and entry method of the investigation. Overall 293 responses were collected, as 48 reponses from the Department of Medicine, 98 from the Department of Health, 147 from the Department of Engineering. Among the factors that affect students' drinking, as a general factor, a grade(p<0.05) had an influence, if a general factor and drinking condition are included, it turned out that the first drinking time(p<0.01) and friends' drinking condition had an influence. Accountance of the whole model was turned out as 20.0%. Considering university students' drinking culture, it is suggested that active education and campaign through anti-drinking student groups will contribute to create healthy drinking culture.

The purpose of this research was to investigate the relation between social support and the knowledge of drug which affects drug abuse in elderly by using structure equation model(SEM). The samples included 177 elderly who lived in 'D' city was selected. Data were collected and analyzed using questionnaires for 13 days from May 13 to May 25, 2013. 3 factors of research models had a significant model fit and correlation. The key research findings are as follows. First, the more social support they have, the more knowledge of drug they tend to have(${\beta}$=.515, p=.005). Second, direct effect that social support led to drug abuse was significant.(${\beta}$=-.769, p=.002) However the indirect effect was not significant(${\beta}$=.036, p=.671). Third, the indirect effect that social support led to drug abuse was not significant, which means it has no mediating effect. Social support turned out to be very important factor in this research, but other preceding research mentioned that knowledge of drug is an important factor which could reduce drug abuse. Research needs to be analyzed repeatedly for verification of effects.
The purpose of this study is to explore the factors affecting the social capital of youth and to draw implications for the policies related to development of the social capital of them. To this end, we utilized the OLS regression model and the quantile regression model exploiting the 12th year dataset of the Korean Education & Employment Panel(KEEP). First, this study shows that the effect on trust is higher than that of the counterpart when the case is a) unmarried, b) with the high level of education, c) with a large asset, d) with high self-respect and the satisfaction for financial situation, and e) social media user. On the other hand, the higher the monthly average income, the lower the trust level. In addition, when the cases are grouped into 25 quantile, 50 quantile, and 75 quantile according to the level of trust, it is revealed empirically that the factors affecting social capital formation are somewhat different. Second, this study also shows that the effect is higher in a specific condition. The effect is higher compared to the counterpart when the case is a) male, b) with children, c) metropolitan city resident, d) non-employee, e) with a large asset, f) with high level of happiness, g) with high expense of purchasing books, and h) social media user. As a result, it is found that there are no personal characteristics that have statistically significant influence on students belonging to the 25th quantile of social capital. This study suggests that, in order to support the formation of social capital of Korean youths, it is necessary to enhance their psychological satisfaction and to provide cultural support or policies. In addition, it suggests that a tailored social capital accumulation program is needed according to the level of social capital, and the support for this need to be changed according to the amount of social capital of young people.
This study used 3D computational fluid dynamics (CFD) in the ENVI-met program to investigate how particulate matters (PM) generated on roads disperse through adjacent urban neighborhoods according to the urban development pattern. An urban area centered on a six-lane road in the vicinity of Miryang City Hall in Gyeongnam Province was selected to simulate the effect of the green space and building height on the PM concentration. The ENVI-met model considered the presence of green space and different building heights (high/low) on both sides of the road to examine the dispersion of PM. The result showed that the area of high-rise buildings and green space had the lowest PM concentration dispersed to the adjacent area, followed by the area of high-rise buildings and no green space. In contrast, the PM concentration remained relatively high for low-rise buildings, regardless of the green space. The reason for the low PM concentration in the area with high-rise buildings was a strong building wind, which caused PM to disperse to the outside, lowering the PM concentration quickly. These results indicate that the PM can disperse faster, and the PM concentration remains low in the urban neighborhood. On the other hand, green space had no significant effect on reducing PM in the urban neighborhood. In particular, when there are low-rise buildings on both sides of the road, the green space has no effect on the PM concentration in the urban neighborhood. Since this study considered only the case of PM emitted from the road, future studies should investigate other factors to figure out the dispersion model of PM and conduct on-site experiments.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine social capital and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) of residents who were living in the three regions(Masan, Jinhae, and Changwon) of integrated Changwon and to analyze the effect of social capital on HRQoL. Methods: This study used the Masan, Jinhae and Changwon data of the 2013 Community Health Survey. The social capital questionnaire consisted of three subdomains (trust, participation, and network). HRQoL was measured with the Korean-version EQ-5D. The effect of social capital on HRQoL was analyzed using multiple regression with controlling for general characteristics and health behavior. Results: The trust level of Masan citizen was highest among the three regions. Jinhae citizen showed the highest level of participation and network out of the three regions. Trust was not a significant influencing factor in any of the three models. Participation was a significant influencing factor in all of the three models. Network was a significant influencing factor only in the Masan model. Conclusion: Participation was the most important factor for health among the three social capital subdomains. Strategies for encouraging social participation are needed for health promotion for the residents of integrated Changwon.
In South Korea the gross generation and heated effluent of power generation plant was 259 TWh and 4.73 billion tons in 2008. And then the waste heat from power generation was 388 TWh. It shows that the efficiency of thermal power generation plant is about 40%. Therefore to reduce $CO_2$ emission from thermal power generation plant, the energy of this heated effluent must be reused to heat buildings or farm facilities. In South Korea horticultural facilities of about 25% are heated in winter season. Total area of greenhouses which are heated is about 13,000 ha. Total heat amount needed to warm greenhouse of 13,000 ha in winter season is only 3.4% of total waste heat from power generation plant. In this study a heat pump system was designed to reuse the waste heat from power generation. Especially new heat exchanger was developed to recover the thermal energy from waste water and this model considered anti-corrosion against sea water and low cost for economic feasibility. This heat recovery system was installed in mango growing greenhouse around thermal power generation plant in Seogwipo-city, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province. The result of preliminary test shows that the heating cost of about 90% is saved as compared to boiler using tax free light oil as a fuel.
As fossil fuels are depleted worldwide, alternative resources is required to replace fossil fuels, and biofuels are in the spotlight as alternative resources. Biofuels are produced from biomass, which is a renewable resource to produce biofuels or bio-chemicals. Especially, in order to substitute fossil fuels, the research focusing the biofuel (biodiesel) production based on CO2 and biomass achieves more attention recently. To produce biomass-based biodiesel, the development of a supply chain network is required considering the amounts of feedstocks (ex, CO2 and water) required producing biodiesel, potential locations and capacities of bio-refineries, and transportations of biodiesel produced at biorefineries to demand cities. Although many studies of the biomass-based biodiesel supply chain network are performed, there are few types of research handled the uncertainty in CO2 supply which influences the optimal strategies of microalgae-based biodiesel production. Because CO2, which is used in the production of microalgae-based biodiesel as one of important resources, is captured from the off-gases emitted in power plants, the uncertainty in CO2 supply from power plants has big impacts on the optimal configuration of the biodiesel supply chain network. Therefore, in this study, to handle those issues, we develop the two-stage stochastic model to determine the optimal strategies of the biodiesel supply chain network considering the uncertainty in CO2 supply. The goal of the proposed model is to minimize the expected total cost of the biodiesel supply chain network considering the uncertain CO2 supply as well as satisfy diesel demands at each city. This model conducted a case study satisfying 10% diesel demand in the Republic of Korea. The overall cost of the stochastic model (US$ 12.9/gallon·y) is slightly higher (23%) than that of the deterministic model (US$ 10.5/gallon·y). Fluctuations in CO2 supply (stochastic model) had a significant impact on the optimal strategies of the biodiesel supply network.
