Detection of Foreign Body in Esophageal Foreign Body Model Using Three Dimensional Reconstruction Technique (식도 이물 모델에서 이물 탐색을 위한 삼차원 재구성법의 활용)

  • Objective This study was conducted to gather basic information of 3D CT in detecting and gaining information of esophageal foreign body (FB) models. Materials and Methods The chest model was made using PVC bottle, rubber balloon and plaster. Fish bone, Persimmon stone were used to mimic foreign bodies of esophageal model. The foreign body models were inserted into the balloon removing air from it and the balloon was sealed. The esophageal FB model was inserted into the chest model. The remaining space in the chest model was filled with fish paste and water to simulate soft tissue around esophagus. CT of chest model was reconstructed three-dimensionally by Rapidia software to make images of foreign body models. The axial CT, MPR image and VOI image were compared with real foreign body materials as to shape, size, location and orientation. Results Esophageal FB models were easily made. CT data gave good 3D images and showed realistic foreign body materials. Conclusion The results indicate the usefulness of 3D CT technique to help in diagnosis of esophageal foreign body models.

  • Photo scanning can create point cloud and polygon models like 3D scanners bringing an object into the 3 dimensional world by combining several sheets of photographic information. The created data give us information about planes and sectional forms required for a 2 dimensional survey as well as 3 dimensional figures of buried cultural property. It requires a lot of time to record buried cultural property in the field, however, the photo scanning technique does not need additional equipment and manpower so the work may begin immediately while the property is protected. Moreover, it reduces financial burdens as it creates 3 dimensional data using images acquired by photography but provides the optimal condition to check 3 dimensional information quickly and easily.

  • As the advancement of technologies on indoor positioning systems and measuring devices such as LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) and cameras, the demands on analyzing and searching indoor spaces and visualization services via virtual and augmented reality have rapidly increasing. To this end, it is necessary to model 3D objects from measured data from real-world structures. In addition, it is important to store these structured data in standardized formats to improve the applicability and interoperability. In this paper, we propose a method to construct IndoorGML data, which is an international standard for indoor modeling, from point cloud data acquired from LiDAR sensors. After examining considerations that should be addressed in IndoorGML data, we present a construction method, which consists of free space extraction and connectivity detection processes. With experimental results, we demonstrate that the proposed method can effectively reconstruct the 3D model from point cloud.

  • The national standard physique research of Korea is being conducted every 5-6 year term after its first research was started in 1979, the fourth research was conducted in 1997. The result of the national physique research was reflected in manufactured goods design of allied industries such as clothing, shoes, furniture. In this thesis, we measured anthropometry value for every bodily figurative classification after dividing users according to gender, age, bodily figure using the result of the national standard physique research. We constructed 3D character through the process of analyzing interrelation of measured anthropometry and measuring representative category. For the process for organization, we measured anthropometry which can express sports action of golf, tennis and etc effectively. We made it by Presenting measurement which is able to form each type of 3D character after the category was decided. Quantitative and objective valuation for posture and action became possible by developing visible information offer and posture action analysis protocol in theoretical approach for analysis of posture and action in sports.

  • 갈비뼈 병변 진단 과정은 방사선 전문의가 CT 스캐너를 통해 생성된 2 차원 CT 이미지들을 해석하며 진행된다. 병변의 위치를 파악하고 정확한 진단을 내리기 위해 수백장의 2차원 CT 이미지들이 세밀하게 검토되며 갈비뼈를 분류한다. 본 연구는 이런 노동 집약적 작업의 문제점을 개선시키기 위해 Biaxial Rib Segmentation(BARS)을 제안한다. BARS 는 흉부 CT 볼륨의 관상면과 수평면으로 구성된 2 차원 이미지들을 U-Net 모델에 학습한다. 모델이 산출한 세그멘테이션 마스크들의 조합은 서로 다른 평면의 공간 정보를 보완하며 3 차원 갈비뼈 볼륨을 재건한다. BARS 의 성능은 DSC, Recall, Precision 지표를 사용해 평가하며, DSC 90.29%, Recall 89.74%, Precision 90.72%를 보인다. 향후에는 이를 기반으로 순차적 갈비뼈 레이블링 연구를 진행할 계획이다.

BIM Mesh Optimization Algorithm Using K-Nearest Neighbors for Augmented Reality Visualization (증강현실 시각화를 위해 K-최근접 이웃을 사용한 BIM 메쉬 경량화 알고리즘)

  • Various studies are being actively conducted to show that the real-time visualization technology that combines BIM (Building Information Modeling) and AR (Augmented Reality) helps to increase construction management decision-making and processing efficiency. However, when large-capacity BIM data is projected into AR, there are various limitations such as data transmission and connection problems and the image cut-off issue. To improve the high efficiency of visualizing, a mesh optimization algorithm based on the k-nearest neighbors (KNN) classification framework to reconstruct BIM data is proposed in place of existing mesh optimization methods that are complicated and cannot adequately handle meshes with numerous boundaries of the 3D models. In the proposed algorithm, our target BIM model is optimized with the Unity C# code based on triangle centroid concepts and classified using the KNN. As a result, the algorithm can check the number of mesh vertices and triangles before and after optimization of the entire model and each structure. In addition, it is able to optimize the mesh vertices of the original model by approximately 56 % and the triangles by about 42 %. Moreover, compared to the original model, the optimized model shows no visual differences in the model elements and information, meaning that high-performance visualization can be expected when using AR devices.

  • In this paper, we suggest the environment based disparity method that calculate the depth value of the objects from environment maps. This method using the disparity of the environment map can calculate the depth value from two environment map that acquire at different viewpoint. This method can decide the visibility of the object whether it is occluded others or not. Also, we can analogize the depth value of the object that does not relate the reference plane(in case of being in the air) and make three dimensional environment model using the proposed method

  • The purpose of this research is to present about a series of processes for 3D model generation from scan data of two types of Korean styled architectures, namely, a pavilion and a house, which were acquired with the terrestrial LiDAR and evaluate a 3D surveying method to document digitally the traditional buildings, cultural properties, archeological sites, etc. Since most ancient buildings and cultural assets which require digital documentation by the terrestrial laser scanner usually need to acquire data from multi-directions. Therefore this paper suggested a process of acquiring and integrating data from mult-stations around the object. Also we presented a way for reconstructing automatically at once both the interior and exterior surfaces of buildings from laser scan data.

  • We implement an interactive 3D audio broadcasting terminal which synthesizes an audio scene according to the request of a user. Audio scene structure is described by the MPEG-4 AudioBIFS specifications. The user updates scene attributes and the terminal synthesizes the corresponding sound images in the 3D space. The terminal supports the MPEG-4 Audio top nodes and some visual nodes. Instead of using sensor nodes and route elements, we predefine node type-specific user interfaces to support BIFS commands for field replacement. We employ sound spatialization, directivity/shape modeling, and reverberation effects for 3D audio rendering and realistic feedback to user inputs. We also introduce a virtual concert program as an application scenario of the interactive broadcasting terminal.

The Measurement of Femoral Neck Anteversion by 3D Modeling of Femoral Major Axes (대퇴골 주요축의 3차원 모델링에 의한 전염각의 측정)

  • The accurate measurement of the femoral anteversion is important for the derotational osteotomy. To estimate femoral anteversion, following three major parameters are required; the neck axis, the long axis, and the knee axis. Conventional methods on the basis of 2D images are ambiguous to determine these major axes. As the femur has a complex 3 dimensional structure, the 3 dimensional model should be applied for accurate and reliable measurement of femoral anteversion. In this thesis, we model femur and define three parameters. The neck axis is defined from the femoral head and neck model. The long axis is determined from the cylindrical model of the femoral shaft. The knee axis is also determined from the model of femoral condyles. According to the definition of the femoral anteversion, the femoral anteversion is efficiently estimated from these models. 20 specimens were tested by the conventional 2D imaging method and 3D imaging method witch was developed by authors and the new 3D modeling method. The study provides accurate, fast and human factor free measurement for femoral anteversion.
