Development of a terrain model in 3D Game (3차원 게임에서의 손쉬운 지형 모델 구현 방법)

  • In computer game, terrain model is applied a nice texture to render snowy mountains and valley. Terrain model in the game, it is important role that the character plays in space. Realistic depiction of the terrain model enhances the absorption of the game. Now many terrain models are made by using lots of terrain tools. In this paper, we does not use terrain modeling tool, we use only 3D max for making terrain model easily. 3D max provides a comprehensive 3D modeling, rendering, and compositing solution for games. In this paper we create terrain models by using 3D max, also we present how to use DirectX environment.

  • 본 연구는 가상 캐릭터인 3D Pooh 와의 감성 교감이 이루어지는 유아용 감성 교육 게임 개발이 목적이다. Web 카메라를 이용하여 사용자의 위치 정보 및 영역을 검출하고 사용자는 화면에 보이는 가상 공간에 손과 마커를 이용하여 행동을 가하게 된다. 사용자의 행동 입력 방식에 따라 Pooh 의 상태를 나타내는 게이지와 행동의 다양한 변화를 제공하며, 이로써 사용자들이 가상 캐릭터인 3D Pooh 와 인터렉션을 할 수 있도록 제공한다. 기존의 감성 교감 연구 방법 분석 결과 뇌파와 체온 등의 생리신호를 이용한 방법과 사용자의 행동패턴을 분석하는 방법 등이 있으며, 현재는 생리신호를 이용하는 방법이 더 많이 활용되고 있다. 생리신호 측정 시 사용자는 신체에 센서를 착용해야 하므로 착용 부담감과 움직임이 자유롭지 못하다는 단점이 있다. 본 프로그램은 기존 연구의 단점인 센서 착용의 부담감을 줄이고 자유롭고 편리한 인터렉션이 가능하도록 개발하였으며, 직관적인 인터페이스를 기반으로 유아들도 쉽고 편리하게 즐길 수 있도록 구현된 감성 교육 게임이 될 것으로 기대된다. 또한 카메라 이외의 다른 하드웨어 장치 사용을 최소화하여 경제성과 사용 편의성을 동시에 고려한 효율적인 유아용 감성 교육 게임으로 활용될 수 있다.

  • 전 세계 게임 시장을 분석해 보면 온라인 및 PC게임 시장 보다 모바일 게임 시장이 크게 성장하고 있는 추세이다. 본 논문에서는 기존 슈팅게임에 색다른 재미인 탄환 흡수 및 특수 스킬 기능을 추가하여 구현한다. 장소의 제약을 덜 받는 원 핸드 플레이 게임을 구현하고, 캐릭터의 터치를 쉽게 조작할 수 있도록 하며, 몰입도를 위한 화려한 탄막들을 설계하고 개발한 것이 특징이다.

Flying Cake: An Augmented Game on Mobile Device (Flying Cake: 모바일 단말기를 이용한 실감형 게임)

  • In the ubiquitous computing age which uses a high quantity network, mobile devices such as wearable and hand-held ones with a small tamers and a wireless communication module will be widely used in near future. Thus, a lot of researches about an augmented game on mobile devices have been attempted recently. The existing augmented games used a traditional 'backpack' system and a pattern marker. The 'backpack' system is expensive, cumbersome and inconvenient to use, and because of the pattern marker, it is only possible to play the game in the previously installed palace. In this paper, we propose an augmented game called Flying Cake using a face region to create the virtual object(character) without the pattern marker, which manually indicates an overlapped location of the virtual object in the real world, on a small and mobile PDA instead of the cumbersome hardware. Flying Cake is an augmented shooting game. This game supplies us with two types: 1) a single player which attacks a virtual character on images captured by a camera in an outdoor physical area, 2) dual players which attack the virtual character on images which we received through a wireless LAN. We overlap the virtual character on the face region using a face detection technique, and users play Flying Cake though attacking the virtual character. Flying Cake supplies new pleasure to flayers with a new game paradigm through an interaction between the user in the physical world captured by the PDA camera and the virtual character in a virtual world using the face detection.

A Design of AI Middleware for Making Interactive Animation Characters (인터랙티브한 애니메이션 캐릭터 제작을 위한 인공지능 미들웨어 설계)

  • Most designers use professional 3D animation tools such as 3DS MAX to manually create animation. This manual method requires a great deal of time and efforts, and does not allow animation characters to interact with one another. In this paper, we design an AI middleware of form as 3DS MAX plug-in to solve these issues. We present an AI expression structure and internal processing method for this middleware, and the method for creating AI character's structure. It creates AI character's structure by drawing figures and lines for representing AI elements. For experiment, we have produced same animations with the traditional method and our method, and measured the task volume in both methods. This result verifies that the task volume is similar or higher than the traditional method in small-scale tasks, but up to 43% of the task volume is reduced in large-scale tasks. Using the method proposed in this paper, we see that characters in an animation interact each other, and task volume in large-scale tasks are reduced.

  • 현재 스마트 기기가 상용화된 우리 사회에서는 대부분의 사람들이 PC를 접하는 시간 보다 스마트 기기를 접하는 시간이 늘어가고 있으며 그것은 게임 산업 측면에서도 같은 추세를 보이고 있다. 이에 따라 본 논문에서는 모바일 환경에서 스마트 기기만의 특성을 살려 게임을 개발하였으며, 그 중에서도 자이로 센서를 활용하여 캐릭터의 움직임을 구현하였다. 본 논문에서는 사용자들이 재미있고 쉽게 플레이 할 수 있는 어드벤처 3D 러닝게임을 기획, 설계 구현한 것에 대하여 다루었다.

  • 본 논문에서는 Unity 3D 엔진을 심층 분석하여 게임개발 교육현장에서의 유용성을 검토하였다. Unity 엔진을 이용하면 필드의 제작, 캐릭터 애니메이션 세팅, 스크립트 작성, Asset 관리, 레벨 디자인 등 많은 작업을 하나의 통합 환경에서 수행할 수 있다. 또한 컴파일 과정을 거치지 않아도 게임을 제작하는 도중 언제라도 실행해 볼 수 있기 때문에 개발에 걸리는 시간을 단축 할 수 있다. 본 연구의 초점은 게임 앱 설계 관련 프로젝트의 수행이나 교육용 게임 개발의 학습 모형을 제시하기 위한 과정이다.

  • In recent years, various virtual reality games are becoming commercialized. A variety of large 3D online games popular with users has begun to transform into VR games. < the Elder Scrolls V: skyrim VR > as a derivative of large-scale 3D online games < the Elder Scrolls V: skyrim special edition >, Since its launch on the steam game platform in April 2018, because of its original UI design, maximizes the user's immersive experience and firmly maintains the leading position of VR games. Although the visual similarities between < the Elder Scrolls V: Skylim VR > and < the Elder Scrolls V: Skylim Special Edition > are high, but the visual elements in the UI are quite different. This paper studies characters, scenes, operating interfaces, colors and fonts five visual UI elements that enhance the immersion in game. It provided a unique interface design reference to immersive experience of new VR games in the future.

  • Today, the 3D character animation is easily accessible from most of the film such as an actuality film, animation, games, or advertising. However, such a smooth movement of characters is a result obtained by Key Frame operation which skilled animators worked with data obtained through expensive equipment such Motion Capture for a long time. Therefore, to modify or to give other effects is not easy. In some cases, character's action made according to the personal feeling could be different with universal expectations of audiences, because it might be not appropriate to make regulations generalized between character's action by animater's design and emotional reaction of audience. In this research, it is aimed to show the way which is easily to blend and modify 2-3 Biped animation data by offering the operation tools of 3-D rotation using 3D Studio MAX Script. By this tool E.A.M., we can have various researches for quantities relation of between walking and emotional reaction.

3D Character Motion Synthesis and Control Method for Navigating Virtual Environment Using Depth Sensor (깊이맵 센서를 이용한 3D캐릭터 가상공간 내비게이션 동작 합성 및 제어 방법)

  • After successful advent of Microsoft's Kinect, many interactive contents that control user's 3D avatar motions in realtime have been created. However, due to the Kinect's intrinsic IR projection problem, users are restricted to face the sensor directly forward and to perform all motions in a standing-still position. These constraints are main reasons that make it almost impossible for the 3D character to navigate the virtual environment, which is one of the most required functionalities in games. This paper proposes a new method that makes 3D character navigate the virtual environment with highly realistic motions. First, in order to find out the user's intention of navigating the virtual environment, the method recognizes walking-in-place motion. Second, the algorithm applies the motion splicing technique which segments the upper and the lower motions of character automatically and then switches the lower motion with pre-processed motion capture data naturally. Since the proposed algorithm can synthesize realistic lower-body walking motion while using motion capture data as well as capturing upper body motion on-line puppetry manner, it allows the 3D character to navigate the virtual environment realistically.
