국산 벤토나이트 그리이스 제조 (Grease from Korean Bentonites)

  • 국산 벤토나이트를 분자량이 큰 imidazolines과 반응시켜 벤톤을 만들었으며 벤토나이트의 양이온 교환율이 100meq/100g이상이 됨을 알았다. 제조한 벤톤은 윤활유에 분산시키고 three-roll mill로 milling 한 후 그리이스를 만들었다. 이들 그리이스의 주도 (microscale로), 정상상태에서의 산화 안정도, 내수성, 및 내 마모성은 ASTM방법에 의하여 시험하였고 매우 좋은 실험결과를 얻었다.

  • Sheets of aluminum alloy 1100 were asymmetrically cold rolled in a rolling mill with different roll speeds. In order to promote the shear deformation during asymmetrical rolling, cold rolling without lubrication was performed with a roll speed ratio of 1.5/l.0. The evolution of texture components during asymmetrical rolling was investigated by the calculation of the orientation distribution function (ODF) using the monoclinic sample symmetry. The strain state during asymmetrical rolling was tackled by means of FEM calculations. Asymmetrical rolling gave rise to the development of pronounced strain gradients throughout the thickness layers which resulted in the formation of strong texture gradients in the aluminum sheet.

  • This paper presents the two-step strategy method of performing optimal scheduling of paper mill processes using MINLP (Mixed-Integer Non-Linear Programming) considering the trim loss problem in sheet cutting processes.   • This paper identifies a linear time-invariant mathematical model of each stand of a five-stand tandem cold mill to design a robust $H_\infty$ thickness controller by applying input and output data sets to N4SID (Numerical algorithms for Subspace State Space System Identification) method. The input-output data sets describe interstand interference in the process of tandem cold rolling and are obtained from a nonlinear simulator of the tandem cold mill. In result, it is shown that the identified model well approximates the nonlinear model than a Taylor linearized model. Furthermore, uncertainties including roll eccentricity and incoming strip variation are quantitatively analyzed from the plot of maximum singular values.

  • In this paper, we formulate the mathematical model for a single-stand rolling mill and design control systems for the thickness control at the exit of roll stand and for the tension control of the strip in the process. We propose a thickness controller based on the Internal Model Control structure which can be an effective application when the frequency components of the thickness deviation of the entry strip are known and, show how it can be appropriately combined with BISRA AGC method for a precise thickness control while maintaining the robustness against the modeling error of the mill modulus. It is illustrated by simulations that the proposed thickness control method gives better performance than existing methods and has the robustness against the modeling error of the mill modulus as well.

GNP 첨가 탄소복합재료의 제조 및 마모 특성 평가 (Fabrication and Performance Evaluation of Carbon Fiber/Graphene Nano-Platelets Composites for Wear Resistance Application)

  • GNPs have several excellent mechanical properties including high strength, a good young's modulus, thermal conductivity, corrosion resistance, electronic shielding, etc. In this study, CF/GNP/Epoxy composites were manufactured using GNP weight ratios of 0.15 wt%, 0.3 wt%, 0.5 wt%, 0.7 wt% and 1 wt%. The composites were manufactured with a mechanical method (3-roll-mill). Tensile, impact and wear tests were performed according to ASTM standards D3039, D256 and D3181, respectively. The results show that the CF/GNP0.3wt%/Epoxy composites have good mechanical properties, e.g., tensile strength and impact and wear resistance. In this study, both carbon fabric and GNPs were used as reinforcements in the composites. The mechanical properties increased and weight loss decreased as the GNP content in the resin films was increased.

열연 슬라브 압연에서 워크롤 표면 원주방향 인장응력 감소를 위한 냉각 방법 (A Cooling Method which Reduces the Tangential Tensile Stresses on a Work Roll Surface during Hot Slab Rolling)

  • The work roll surface temperature rises and falls repetitively during hot slab rolling because the work roll surface is cooled continuously by water. This study focused on Std. No. 7 to determine a cooling method which significantly reduces the tangential tensile stresses on the work roll surface of the hot slab mill at Hyundai Steel Co. in Korea. A series of finite element analyses were performed to compute the temperature distribution and the tensile stresses in the circumferential direction of the work roll. The virtual slab model was used to reduce the run time considerably by assigning a high temperature to the virtual slab. Except for the heat generated by plastic deformation, this is equivalent to the hot rolling condition that a high temperature slab (material) would experience when in contact with the work rolls. Results showed that when the virtual slab model was coupled with FE analysis, the run time was found to be reduced from 2000 hours to 70 hours. When the work roll surface cooled with a certain on-off patter of water spray, the magnitude of the tangential stresses on the work rolls were decreased by 54.1%, in comparison with those cooled by continuous water spraying. Savings of up to 83.3% in water usage are possible if the proposed water cooling method is adopted.

RHC를 기반으로 하는 열간압연 루퍼 제어 (RHC based Looper Control for Hot Strip Mill)

  • In this paper, a new looper controller is proposed to minimize the tension variation of a strip in the hot strip finishing mill. The proposed control technology is based on a receding horizon control (RHC) to satisfy the constraints on the control input/state variables. The finite terminal weighting matrix is used instead of the terminal equality constraint. The closed loop stability of the RHC for the looper system is analyzed to guarantee the monotonicity of the optimal cost. Furthermore, the RHC is combined with a 4SID(Subspace-based State Space System Identification) model identifier to improve the robustness for the parameter variation and the disturbance of an actuator. As a result, it is shown through a computer simulation that the proposed control scheme satisfies the given constraints on the control inputs and states: roll speed, looper current, unit tension, and looper angle. The control scheme also diminishes the tension variation for the parameter variation and the disturbance as well.

공형압연 공정에서 소재 표면흠 발생억제를 위한 패스 스케줄 설계 (Pass Schedule Design to Inhibit Surface Cracks Generation on Workpiece in Groove Rolling Process)

  • 본 연구에서는 소재 표면흠 발생을 억제하기 위해 유한요소법을 사용하여 세아베스틸 선재 조압연 라인 공정을 모사하였다. 선재 조업연 라인의 2 번 공형을 설계하였고 이 공형을 압연 라인에 적용하였다. 또한 유한요소법을 사용하여 3 번, 4 번 공형 롤 갭이 변경된 새로운 패스 스케줄을 제안하였다. 본 연구에서는 전단응력비에 의존적인 전단파괴 모델을 사용하였고 소재의 손상된 요소 수를 비교하였다. 손상된 요소는 표면흠을 의미한다. 결과적으로 2 번 공형이 변경된 후 불량률은 이전 공형보다 1.43% 감소되었다. 그리고 새로운 패스 스케줄의 손상된 요소 수는 현재 패스 스케줄보다 37.6% 감소되었다.

  • Finishing mill (FM) is set up with rolling conditions (rolling speed, rolling force, roll gap, etc.) calculated by a FSU (Finisher Setup) model considering the temperature, qualities and size of a transfer bar and a strip at the entry and exit of FM before the transfer bar is rolled through FM. If the accuracy of setup is low mass flow unbalance occurs, so that the accuracies of the strip thickness and width become lower or rolling operation fault occurs.
