  • The phase locked oscillator having a low phase noise and high output in Ku-band was designed. To obtain the low phase noise and high output characteristics of oscillator, the nonlinear equivalent circuits of p-HEMT was analyzed by TOM method and we have decided the trade-off bias point between the low phase noise and the output power of oscillator. The designed phase locked oscillator with prescaler for stable operation, experiment results exhibits output power of 1003m with phase noise in the phase locked state of -824BC/HB at 10mz offset from 13.250Hz, and simulation result of 1003m output power in the phase noise -840Bc/Hz at 10KHz offset frequency respectively. a good agreement has been obtained between simulations and experiments results.

  • This paper suggests a 3-phase series-resonant type high voltage capacitor charger for an EML pulsed power system. The operating principle on the charger is explained by an equivalent circuit. Additionally, we analyze the charging characteristic in one discontinuous conduction mode and three continuous conduction modes. The analysis shows that the resonant current per phase is two thirds of the 3-phase charger's average charging current and one third of the single-phase charger's average charging current with the same capacity. We suggest a design method of the 3-phase capacitor charger in each operational mode and present an example of 3.5 kW capacitor charger at ${\omega}_s=0.33{\omega}_r$. The 3.5 kW 3-phase capacitor charger prototype is assembled with a TI28335 controller and a 40 kJ, 7 kV capacitor. The design rules based on the analysis are verified by experiment.

  • A pulse frequency control method for single-switch three-phase buck rectifiers is comprehensively studied in this paper. The proposed pulse frequency control method leads the three-phase buck rectifier to a high performance system that can draw the nearly sinusoidal input-line currents. The simulated and experimental results demonstrate that the system provides low total harmonic distortion of the input-line currents, high-power factor, and good output voltage regulation against load change.

  • The power semiconductor is widely used in the power plant or industrial field because of genealization and enlargement. It has been controlled and operated according to its own control method. Especially in case of Power plant, it plays a major role in AVR(Automatic Voltage Regulator) or electro chlorination control circuits. Generally, they used in Analog control system at above field. But each SCR current value is different because of load unbalance or switching characteristic variations, it may cause power plant unit trip or system disorder according to SCR element burn out or bad operating condition. Therefore, in this paper a development of 3 phase current balance control algorithm is described. it gets over the past analog control system limit, controls SCR gate firing angle for 3 phase current balance.

  • In this paper a three-phase ac-to-dc resonant converter with high input power factor and isolated output is proposed. To improve the input power factor of the converter, high frequency current is injected into the input of the three-phase diode bridge rectifier. It is injected through an impedance network consisting of a series of L-C branches from the output of the high frequency three-phase inverter. A narrow switching frequency variation is required to regulate the output voltage. A design example with different design curves is illustrated along with the component ratings. Experimental verification of the converter is performed on a prototype of 3 kW, 1000 V output, operating above 300 kHz. Experimental results confirm the concept of the proposed converter. Narrow switching frequency variation is required to regulate the output voltage.

  • In this paper, new and simple optical transmission link with fixed dispersion management (DM) scheme, i.e., pre(post) compensation and residual dispersion per span (RDPS) are fixed to net residual dispersion (NRD) = 0 ps/nm, and optical phase conjugator (OPC) having optimal position depending on launch power in WDM transmission system is proposed. Also, effective launch power range of WDM channels resulting 1 dB eye opening penalty (EOP) is induced as a function of OPC position. First, it is confirmed that, for applying DM into WDM transmission link fixed pre(post)compensation and RDPS, which are independence on exact system parameters except launch power, sufficiently are used in WDM links, but OPC with optimal position is needed for effective compensating impairments of WDM channels. And, it is confirmed that effective launch power is broader in case of RDPS = 100 ps/nm than in RDPS = 50 ps/nm. But, it is shown that the best OPC position offset is -0.6 km from a point of view of power window, which is defined as difference between maximum and minimum effective launch power.

  • Recently, coal-fired power plants are experiencing many problems that they have never experienced before due to an increase in flexible operation. In particular, a two-phase flow accelerated corrosion on water wall tubes in a boiler has not been detected overseas or domestically. There is no response plan to deal with such corrosion problem either. However, oxide film damage and tube material corrosion due to a two-phase flow accelerated corrosion are being discovered on water wall boiler tubes of domestic coal-fired power plants recently. If this situation is severe, it can cause enormous damage such as tube rupture. Therefore, in this paper, in order to prepare a response plan for a two-phase flow accelerated corrosion on water wall tubes in the future, differences between a two-phase flow accelerated corrosion and a single-phase flow accelerated corrosion were investigated and an example of discovery of a two-phase flow accelerated corrosion on water wall tubes was presented.

  • This paper proposes a three-phase single-stage AC-DC converter for the small wind generation system. Input power factor improvement and insulated output can be implemented with the proposed three-phase single-stage AC-DC converter under the wide power generation voltage (80-260 Vac) and frequency (10-42 Hz) in a small wind power generation (WPG) system. The proposed converter is also capable of zero-voltage switching in the primary-side switches and zero-current switching in the secondary-side diodes by phase-shift control at a fixed switching frequency. In addition, it is possible to control a wide output voltage (Vo: 39 VDC-60 VDC) by varying the link voltage and improving the input power factor (PF) and the total harmonic distortion factor (THDi). Simulation and experimental results verified the validity of the proposed converter.

  • This paper investigates operating characteristics of three-phase matrix converter with unity input power factor by direct duty-ratio pulse-width modulation in the case of balanced and unbalanced load. It can be found from the system analysis that (1) The control algorithm for unity power factor is not related to the variables of load sides but the input voltages, (2) With the balanced three-phase load except for the pure reactive load, the unity input power factor can be achieved, (3) In the case of the unbalanced linear load, the equivalent input characteristics of the matrix converter can be seen like the nonlinear resister, (4) When the input frequency and the output frequency have the specific relationship, each input phases have the same sharing of the average power. The feasibility and validity of the analysis were verified by simulation and experimental results.
