와이블 분포함수를 이용한 하수관로 노후도 추정 (Estimation of sewer deterioration by Weibull distribution function)

  • Sewer deterioration models are needed to forecast the remaining life expectancy of sewer networks by assessing their conditions. In this study, the serious defect (or condition state 3) occurrence probability, at which sewer rehabilitation program should be implemented, was evaluated using four probability distribution functions such as normal, lognormal, exponential, and Weibull distribution. A sample of 252 km of CCTV-inspected sewer pipe data in city Z was collected in the first place. Then the effective data (284 sewer sections of 8.15 km) with reliable information were extracted and classified into 3 groups considering the sub-catchment area, sewer material, and sewer pipe size. Anderson-Darling test was conducted to select the most fitted probability distribution of sewer defect occurrence as Weibull distribution. The shape parameters (β) and scale parameters (η) of Weibull distribution were estimated from the data set of 3 classified groups, including standard errors, 95% confidence intervals, and log-likelihood values. The plot of probability density function and cumulative distribution function were obtained using the estimated parameter values, which could be used to indicate the quantitative level of risk on occurrence of CS3. It was estimated that sewer data group 1, group 2, and group 3 has CS3 occurrence probability exceeding 50% at 13th-year, 11th-year, and 16th-year after the installation, respectively. For every data groups, the time exceeding the CS3 occurrence probability of 90% was also predicted to be 27th- to 30th-year after the installation.

  • This study was carried out to derive optimal design low flows bythe Weibull-3 and Wakeby distributions for the partial consecutive duration series at seven watersheds along Han. nagdong, Geum Yeongsan and Seomjin river systems. L-coefficient of variation L-skewness and L-kurtosis were calculated by the L-moment ratio respectively. Parameters were estimated by the method of L-Moments with consecutive duration. Design low flows obtained by method of L-Moments using with consecutive duration, Design low flows obtained by method of L-Moments using different methods for plotting positions formulas in the Weibull-3 and Wakeby distributions were compared by the Root Mean Square Errors(RMSE). It has shown that design low flows derived by the method of L-moments using Weivull plotting position formula in Wakeby distribution were much closer to those of the observed data in comparison with those obtained by the methods of L-moments with the different formulas for plotting positions in Weibull-3 distribution from the viewpoint of Root Mean Square Errors.

  • This study was carried out to derive optimal design drought flows by the Weibull-3 and Wakeby distributions for the annual drought flows series at seven watersheds along Han, Nagdong, Geum, Yeongsan and Seomjin river systems. L-coefficient of variation , L-skewness and L-kurtosis were calculated by the L-moment ratio respectivley. Parameters were estimated by the Methods o fL-Moments with continuous duration. Design drought flows obtained by Methods of L-Moments using Weibull plotting positions formula in the Weibull-3 and Wakeby distributions were compared by the Relative Mean Errors(RME), Relative Absolute Errors (RAE) and Root Mean Square Errors(RMSE). It has shown that design drought flows by the Wakeby distribution using method of L-moments are much closer to those of the observed data in comparison with those obtained by the Weibull-3 distribution using method of L-moments.

Wave Analysis Method for Offshore Wind Power Design Suitable for Suitable for Ulsan Area

  • Various loads induced by marine environmental conditions, such as waves, currents, and wind, are crucial for the operation and viability of offshore wind power (OWP) systems. In particular, waves have a significant impact on the stress and fatigue load of offshore structures, and highly reliable design parameters should be derived through extreme value analysis (EVA) techniques. In this study, extreme wave analyses were conducted with various Weibull distribution models to determine the reliable design parameters of an OWP system suitable for the Ulsan area. Forty-three years of long-term hindcast data generated by a numerical wave model were adopted as the analyses data, and the least-squares method was used to estimate the parameters of the distribution function for EVA. The inverse first-order reliability method was employed as the EVA technique. The obtained results were compared among themselves under the assumption that the marginal probability distributions were 2p, 3p, and exponentiated Weibull distributions.

  • 기계 및 구조물의 안전성과 신뢰성 평가를 위하여 금속재료의 피로강도 데이터베이스 시스템을 구축하고, 이를 이용하여 금속재료의 피로수명 분포특성을 검토하였다. 종속도를 이용하여 구성한 관계형 피로강도 데이터베이스 시스템은 일련의 데이터 관리 및 해석작업을 효율적으로 수행하였다. 또한 Robust 방법과 보상오차함수(complementary error function)를 이용한 3-파라미터 Weibull분포의 파라미터 추정법 및 비파손확률를 검토하기 위하여 제안된 새로운 기준식의 타당성을 검토하였다. 조합분포모델을 이용하여 부하응력비와 Weibull분포의 파라미터 항으로 나타낸 피로수명 분포식은 탄소강의 P-R-N 특성을 해석함에 있어서 좋은 결과를 보였다.

Analysis of flexural fatigue failure of concrete made with 100% coarse recycled and natural aggregates

  • In this study, the flexural fatigue performance of concrete beams made with 100% Coarse Recycled Concrete Aggregates (RCA) and 100% Coarse Natural Aggregates (NA) were statistically commanded. For this purpose, the experimental fatigue test results of earlier researcher were investigated using two parameter Weibull distribution. The shape and scale parameters of Weibull distribution function was evaluated using seven numerical methods namely, Graphical method (GM), Least-Squares (LS) regression of Y on X, Least-Squares (LS) regression of X on Y, Empherical Method of Lysen (EML), Mean Standard Deviation Method (MSDM), Energy Pattern Factor Method (EPFM) and Method of Moments (MOM). The average of Weibull parameters was used to incorporate survival probability into stress (S)-fatigue life (N) relationships. Based on the Weibull theory, as single and double logarithm fatigue equations for RCA and NA under different survival probability were provided. The results revealed that, by considering 0.9 level survival probability, the theoretical stress level corresponding to a fatigue failure number equal to one million cycle, decreases by 8.77% (calculated using single-logarithm fatigue equation) and 6.62% (calculated using double logarithm fatigue equation) in RCA when compared to NA concrete.

크롬도금 포열의 포구속도 확률분포 특성 분석 (Analysis of Probability Distribution of Muzzle Velocity for Chrome Plated Barrel)

  • To confirm the change of muzzle velocity and the most suitable probability distribution model of the 155 mm K9 howitzer barrel with chrome plating and changed rifling. Using a statistical program, the muzzle velocity were plotted on a normal distribution, a 2-parameter and 3-parameter Weibull distribution on a probability paper. Also, statistical parameters were estimated and muzzle velocity fitness test and probability of K676 charge were plotted. In both the chrome-plated with standard rifling and changed rifling for K9 barrel, the 2-parameter and 3-parameter Weibull distribution were skewed to the left compared to the normal distribution. It was confirmed that the muzzle velocity of the K9 barrel with chromium-plated is suitable for the normal distribution and 3-parameter Weibull distribution model.

  • 본 연구의 주목적은 마그네슘합금의 피로균열성장거동을 지배하는 파라미터들의 확률론적 특성을 규명하는 것이다. 피로균열전파실험은 AZ31 마그네슘합금의 CT 시편을 이용하여 통계적으로 수행하였으며, 시편두께, 하중비, 최대하중 등의 여러 가지 실험조건으로 실온에서 진행하였다. 이 실험을 통하여 획득한 통계적 피로 데이터를 이용하여 피로거동 파라미터의 확률적 변동성 해석과 함께 확률분포 적합성을 고찰하였다. 균열성장속도계수는 확률적으로 매우 큰 변동성을 나타내는 파라미터로 밝혀졌으며, 반면에 균열성장속도지수는 매우 작은 변동성을 나타냄으로써 재료상수로 볼 수 있을 것이다. 피로거동 파라미터인 균열성장속도계수와 균열성장속도지수에 가장 적합한 확률분포는 3-파라미터 Weibull 분포이며, 2-파라미터 Weibull 분포는 균열성장속도계수의 경우에만 양호한 적합성을 나타낸다는 것을 규명하였다.

  • We study a bivariate response regression model with arbitrary marginal distributions and joint distributions using Frank and Clayton's families of copulas. The proposed model is used for fitting dependent bivariate data with explanatory variables using the log-odd log-logistic Weibull distribution. We consider likelihood inferential procedures based on constrained parameters. For different parameter settings and sample sizes, various simulation studies are performed and compared to the performance of the bivariate odd-log-logistic-Weibull regression model. Sensitivity analysis methods (such as local and total influence) are investigated under three perturbation schemes. The methodology is illustrated in a study to assess changes on schoolchildren's oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) in a follow-up exam after three years and to evaluate the impact of caries incidence on the OHRQoL of adolescents.

  • In this paper, the Inverse Weibull distribution parameters have been estimated using a new estimation technique based on the non-parametric kernel density function that introduced as an alternative and reliable technique for estimation in life testing models. This technique will require bootstrapping from a set of sample observations for constructing the density functions of pivotal quantities and thus the confidence intervals for the distribution parameters. The performances of this technique have been studied comparing to the conditional inference on the basis of the mean lengths and the covering percentage of the confidence intervals, via Monte Carlo simulations. The simulation results indicated the robustness of the proposed method that yield reasonably accurate inferences even with fewer bootstrap replications and it is easy to be used than the conditional approach. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the densities and the inferential methods developed in this paper.
