We study a continuous data assimilation algorithm for the three-dimensional simplified Bardina model utilizing measurements of only two components of the velocity field. Under suitable conditions on the relaxation (nudging) parameter and the spatial mesh resolution, we obtain an asymptotic in time estimate of the difference between the approximating solution and the unknown reference solution corresponding to the measurements, in an appropriate norm, which shows exponential convergence up to zero.

Three-dimensional multimedia industry such as 3D TV, movie and broadcast has been developed vividly. For generating 3D contents with high quality, virtual auditory display, so called VAD, is being researched to offer more realistic experience to listeners. When people render VAD using headphones or two speakers, head-related transfer function(HRTF) plays a key role. The best solution is measuring all individuals' HRTFs, but it is hard to measure all listeners' HRTFs. To overcome this difficulty, many research groups have tried to construct their own measurement system and to build HRTF databases. However, some of them have not enough subjects or spatial resolution and they are mainly focused on Caucasian. There exists difference between Korean and Caucasian in a view of physical features. In other words, if Koreans hear three-dimensional sound rendered by HRTF database based on Caucasian, performance might be hindered. To verify this possibility and remedy the drawbacks, construction of new HRTF database aimed at Korean is needed. Therefore, our laboratory built HRTF measurement system which can measure HRTF of three-dimensional space with dense spatial resolution. With this system, 55 Korean males and 45 females' HRTFs were measured and Korean HRTF database was built based on these data.

Recently air quality modeling studies for industrial complex and large cities located in the coastal regions have been carried out. Especially, the representation of atmospheric flow fields within a model domain is very important, because an adequate air quality simulation requires an accurate portrayal of the realistic three -dimensional wind fields. Therefore this study investigated effect of using high resolution terrain height data in numerical simulation. So the experiments were designed according to the detail terrain height with 3second resolution or not. Case 30s was the experiment using the terrain height data of USGS and Case 3s was the other using the detail terrain height data of Ministry of Environment. The results of experimental were more remarkable. In Case 3s, temperature indicated similar tendency comparing to observational data predicting maximum temperature during the daytime and wind speed made weakly for difference of terrain height.

This study aims to seek adequate and optimized method of applying high quality three-dimensional spatial data created via high-resolution digital aerial photograph image and aerial LiDAR data onto three-dimensional planning of environmentally friendly, ecological restoration of rivers in accordance with irrigation and flood control objectives of urban rivers. Through three-dimensional modeling of before and after the restoration, the research also offers basic information regarding restorations of rivers. Also the transition from the conventional two-dimensional planning into three-dimensional planning environment using smart spatial information acquire accuracy of river analysis, analyze possible civil complaints and suggest solutions to potential problems.
Micro-PIV is a well-known method for measurement of two- dimensional, two-component velocity in the microfluidic devices. Lots of the micro fluidic devices generate three-dimensional flow and 3D measurement of velocity is helpful to understand the physics of micro flow phenomena. In this study, we developed new micro 3D measurement method by applying 2-frame PTV in stereoscopic micro system. In this study, we did the validation study of SMPTV by using the simulated flow model to verify the accuracy and the feasibility of measurement and compared with SMPIV method. The results showed that SMPTV provides better spatial resolution and measurement accuracy than SMPIV method.
The point we made in this paper is that, although detailed and precise three-dimensional (3D) whole-core transport calculations may be obtained in the future with massively parallel computers, they would have an application to only some of the problems of the nuclear industry, more precisely those regarding multiphysics or for methodology validation or nuclear safety calculations. On the other hand, typical design reactor cycle calculations comprising many one-point core calculations can have very strict constraints in computing time and will not directly benefit from the advances in computations in large scale computers. Consequently, in this paper we review some of the deterministic 3D transport methods which in the very near future may have potential for industrial applications and, even with low-order approximations such as a low resolution in energy, might represent an advantage as compared with present industrial methodology, for which one of the main approximations is due to power reconstruction. These methods comprise the response-matrix method and methods based on the two-dimensional (2D) method of characteristics, such as the fusion method.

Increasing demands on precision machining have necessitated the tool to move not only position error as small as possible, but also with smoothly varying feedrates. Because of the lack of accurate and efficient algorithms for generation of 3-dimensional lines and circles, a full accomlishment for available machine tool resolution is generally unavailable. In this paper, a reference-pulse type 3-axis PC_NC milling system is developed for the precision machining of complex shapes in 3-dimensional space. Three AC servomotors are used as the actuator instead of the hand wheel to operate a 3-axis milling machine under the same mechanical structure. A PC is used to handle the control signal calculation for various types of motion command. To achieve the synchronous 3-axis motion, a real-time reference-pulse 3-dimensional linear and circular interpolator based on the intersection criteria is developed in software. The performance test via computer simulation and actual machining have shown that the PC-NC milling system is useful for the machining of arbitrary lines and circles in 3-dimensional space.

Objective : Compared to microscopes, exoscopes have advantages in field-depth, ergonomics, and educational value. Exoscopes are especially well-poised for adaptation into fluorescence-guided surgery (FGS) due to their excitation source, light path, and image processing capabilities. We evaluated the feasibility of near-infrared FGS using a 3-dimensional (3D), 4 K exoscope with near-infrared fluorescence imaging capability. We then compared it to the most sensitive, commercially-available near-infrared exoscope system (3D and 960 p). In-vitro and intraoperative comparisons were performed. Methods : Serial dilutions of indocyanine-green (1-2000 ㎍/mL) were imaged with the 3D, 4 K Olympus Orbeye (system 1) and the 3D, 960 p VisionSense Iridium (system 2). Near-infrared sensitivity was calculated using signal-to-background ratios (SBRs). In addition, three patients with brain tumors were administered indocyanine-green and imaged with system 1, with two also imaged with system 2 for comparison. Results : Systems 1 and 2 detected near-infrared fluorescence from indocyanine green concentrations of >250 ㎍/L and >31.3 ㎍/L, respectively. Intraoperatively, system 1 visualized strong near-infrared fluorescence from two, strongly gadolinium-enhancing meningiomas (SBR=2.4, 1.7). The high-resolution, bright images were sufficient for the surgeon to appreciate the underlying anatomy in the near-infrared mode. However, system 1 was not able to visualize fluorescence from a weakly-enhancing intraparenchymal metastasis. In contrast, system 2 successfully visualized both the meningioma and the metastasis but lacked high resolution stereopsis. Conclusion : Three-dimensional exoscope systems provide an alternative visualization platform for both standard microsurgery and near-infrared fluorescent guided surgery. However, when tumor fluorescence is weak (i.e., low fluorophore uptake, deep tumors), highly sensitive near-infrared visualization systems may be required.
Example-based super resolution is a method to restore a high resolution image from low resolution images through training and retrieval of image patches. It is not only good in its performance but also available for a single frame low-resolution image. However, its time complexity is very high because it requires lots of comparisons to retrieve image patches in restoration process. In order to improve the restoration speed, an efficient patch retrieval algorithm is essential. In this paper, we applied various high-dimensional feature retrieval methods, available for the patch retrieval, to a practical example-based super resolution system and compared their speed. As well, we propose to apply the multi-phase candidate reduction approach to the patch retrieval process, which was successfully applied in character recognition fields but not used for the super resolution. In the experiments, LSH was the fastest among conventional methods. The multi-phase candidate reduction method, proposed in this paper, was even faster than LSH: For $1024{\times}1024$ images, it was 3.12 times faster than LSH.
Recently, ESA (European Space Agency) has launched CryoSAT-2 for polar ice observations. CryoSAT-2 is equipped with a SIRAL (SAR/interferometric radar altimeter), which is a high spatial resolution radar altimeter. Conventional altimeters cannot measure a precise three-dimensional ground position because of the large footprint diameter, while SIRAL altimeter system accomplishes a precise three-dimensional ground positioning by means of interferometric synthetic aperture radar technique. In this study, we developed an efficient SIRAL SARIn mode processing technique to measure a precise three-dimensional ground position. We first simulated SIRAL SARIn RAW data for the ideal target by assuming the flat Earth and linear flight track, and second accessed the precision of three-dimensional geopositioning achieved by the proposed algorithm. The proposed algorithm consists of 1) azimuth processing that determines the squint angle from Doppler centroid, and 2) range processing that estimates the look angle from interferometric phase. In the ideal case, the precisions of look and squint angles achieved by the proposed algorithm were about -2.0 ${\mu}deg$ and 98.0 ${\mu}deg$, respectively, and the three-dimensional geopositioning accuracy was about 1.23 m, -0.02 m, and -0.30 m in X, Y and Z directions, respectively. This means that the SIRAL SARIn mode processing technique enables to measure the three-dimensional ground position with the precision of several meters.
