In this paper, a high accuracy stereo reconstruction method for surgery instruments positioning is proposed. Usually, the problem of surgical instruments reconstruction is considered as a basic task in computer vision to estimate the 3-D position of each marker on a surgery instrument from three pairs of image points. However, the existing methods considered the 3-D reconstruction of the points separately thus ignore the structure information. Meanwhile, the errors from light variation, imaging noise and quantization still affect the reconstruction accuracy. This paper proposes a method which takes the structure information of surgical instruments as constraints, and reconstructs the whole markers on one surgical instrument together. Firstly, we calibrate the instruments before navigation to get the structure parameters. The structure parameters consist of markers' number, distances between each markers and a linearity sign of each instrument. Then, the structure constraints are added to stereo reconstruction. Finally, weighted filter is used to reduce the jitter. Experiments conducted on surgery navigation system showed that our method not only improve accuracy effectively but also reduce the jitter of surgical instrument greatly.
Since the operation of the first satellite-based navigation service, satellite positioning has played an increasing role in both surveying and geodesy, and has become an indispensable tool for precise relative positioning. However, in some situations, e.g. at a low angle of elevation, the use of satellites for navigation is seriously restricted because obstacles like buildings and mountains can block signals. As a mean to resolve this problem, the quasi-zenith satellite system has been proposed as a next-generation satellite navigation system. Quasi-zenith satellite is a system which simultaneously deploys several satellites in a quasi-zenith geostationary orbit so that one of the satellites always stay close to the zenith if viewed from a specific point on the ground of East Asia. Thus, if a position measurement function compatible with CPS is installed in the quasi-zenith and stationary satellites, and these satellites are utilized together with the CPS, four satellites can be accessed simultaneously nearly all day long and a substantial improvement in position measurement, especially in metropolitan areas, can be achieved. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the effectiveness of quasi-zenith satellite system on positioning accuracy improvement through simulation by using precise orbital information of the satellites and a three-dimensional digital map. Through this developed simulation system, it is possible to calculate the number of simultaneously visible satellites and available area for positioning without the need of actual observation. Furthermore, this system can calculate the Dilution Of Precision (DOP) and the error distribution.
The position of autonomous driving vehicle is basically acquired through the global positioning system (GPS). However, GPS signals cannot be received in tunnels. Due to this limitation, localization of autonomous driving vehicles can be made through sensors mounted on them. In particular, a 3D Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) system is used for longitudinal position error correction. Few feature points and structures that can be used for localization of vehicles are available in tunnels. Since lanes in the road are normally marked by solid line, it cannot be used to recognize a longitudinal position. In addition, only a small number of structures that are separated from the tunnel walls such as sign boards or jet fans are available. Thus, it is necessary to extract usable information from tunnels to recognize a longitudinal position. In this paper, fire hydrants and evacuation guide lights attached at both sides of tunnel walls were used to recognize a longitudinal position. These structures have highly distinctive reflectivity from the surrounding walls, which can be distinguished using LIDAR reflectivity data. Furthermore, reflectivity information of tunnel walls was fused with the road surface reflectivity map to generate a synthetic reflectivity map. When the synthetic reflectivity map was used, localization of vehicles was able through correlation matching with the local maps generated from the current LIDAR data. The experiments were conducted at an expressway including Maseong Tunnel (approximately 1.5 km long). The experiment results showed that the root mean square (RMS) position errors in lateral and longitudinal directions were 0.19 m and 0.35 m, respectively, exhibiting precise localization accuracy.
As the importance and dependency of the positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) information provided by the radio navigation satellite service (RNSS) increases, the vulnerability of RNSS to jamming can lead to significant risks. The signal design under the consideration of anti-jamming performance helps to provide service which is robust to jamming environment. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate the jamming robustness performance during the design of new signals. In this paper, we introduce figures-of-merit (FoMs) that can be used for an anti-jamming performance analysis of designed signals of interest. We then calculate the FoMs, such as the quality factor (Q factor), tolerable jamming-to-signal ratio (tolerable J/S), and range to jammer (d) for legacy RNSS signals and analyze the results. Finally, based on the results of the analysis, we derive waveform design conditions to obtain good anti-jamming performance. As a result, this paper shows that the waveforms with wide bandwidth leading to good spectral efficiency provide strong anti-jamming performance.
The Global Positioning System (GPS) is widely used to aid the navigation of aerial vehicles. However, the GPS cannot be used indoors, so alternative navigation methods are needed to be developed for micro aerial vehicles (MAVs) flying in GPS-denied environments. In this paper, a real-time three-dimensional (3-D) indoor navigation system and closed-loop control of a quad-rotor aerial vehicle equipped with an inertial measurement unit (IMU) and a low-cost light detection and ranging (LIDAR) is presented. In order to estimate the pose of the vehicle equipped with the two-dimensional LIDAR, an octree-based grid map and Monte-Carlo Localization (MCL) are adopted. The navigation results using the MCL are then evaluated by making a comparison with a motion capture system. Finally, the results are used for closed-loop control in order to validate its positioning accuracy during procedures for stable hovering and waypoint-following.

Location information of individual nodes is important in the implementation of necessary network functions. While extensive studies focus on localization techniques in 2D space, few approaches have been proposed for 3D positioning, which brings the location closer to the reality with more complex calculation consumptions for high accuracy. In this paper, an effective range-free localization scheme is proposed for 3D space localization, and the sensitivity of parameters is evaluated. Firstly, we present an improved algorithm (MDV-Hop), that the average distance per hop of the anchor nodes is calculated by root-mean-square error (RMSE), and is dynamically corrected in groups with the weighted RMSE based on group hops. For more improvement in accuracy, we expand particle swarm optimization (PSO) of intelligent optimization algorithms to MDV-Hop localization algorithm, called PMDV-hop, in which the parameters (inertia weight and trust coefficient) in PSO are calculated dynamically. Secondly, the effect of various localization parameters affecting the PMDV-hop performance is also present. The simulation results show that PMDV-hop performs better in positioning accuracy with limited energy.
Numerical integration is necessary for satellite orbit determination and its prediction. The numerical integration algorithm can be divided into single-step and multi-step method. There are lots of single-step and multi-step methods. However, the Runge-Kutta method in single-step and the Adams method in multi-step are generally used in global navigation satellite system (GNSS) satellite orbit. In this study, 4th and 8th order Runge-Kutta methods and various order of Adams-Bashforth-Moulton methods were used for GLObal NAvigation Satellite System (GLONASS) orbit integration using its broadcast ephemeris and these methods were compared with international GNSS service (IGS) final products for 7days. As a result, the RMSE of Runge-Kutta methods were 3.13m and 4th and 8th order Runge-Kutta results were very close and also 3rd to 9th order Adams-Bashforth-Moulton results. About result of computation time, this study showed that 4th order Runge-Kutta was the fastest. However, in case of 8th order Runge-Kutta, it was faster than 14th order Adams-Bashforth-Moulton but slower than 13th order Adams-Bashforth-Moulton in this study.
Satellite and receiver Inter-Frequency Biases (IFBs) should be estimated or calibrated by pre-defined values for generating precise navigation messages and augmentation data in satellite navigation systems or the augmentation system. In this paper, a Kalman filter is designed and implemented to estimate the ionospheric delay and satellite/receiver IFBs using a regional receiver network. First, an ionospheric model and its filter parameter is defined based on previous studies. Second, a measurement model for estimating the relative satellite/receiver IFBs without any constraints is proposed. Third, a procedure for ensuring the continuity of estimation is proposed in this paper. To verify the performance of the designed filter, six Continuously Operating Reference Stations (CORSs) are selected. Finally, the stability and accuracy of satellite/receiver IFB estimation are analyzed.

We propose a novel single-feed triangular patch antenna with bar-type slots for dual-band circular polarization operation. And also propose a H-type slotted triangular patch antenna to enhance the ratio of the resonance frequencies. 3 cases of desist examples with bar-type slots were investigated and also 4 cases of H-slotted antennas were investigated to meet the dual-band requirement for GPS(Global Positioning System) and DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting). One suitable design example was implemented and measured. Simulation results of the design example for GPS and DMB system show that axial ratio and maximum gain are 3.80 dB, 8.85 dBi for low-band at 1.575 GHz and 2.02 dB, 8.60 dBi for high-band at 2.642 GHz, respectively. Measured results of the implemented antenna show that $S_{11}$ is -12.43 dB for low-band at 1.575 GHz and less than -18.75 dB for high-band, respectively.
