Generally flight vehicles have many cavities such as wheel wells, bomb bays and windows on their external surfaces and the flow around these cavities makes separation, vortex, shock and expansion waves, reattachment and other complex flow phenomenon. The flow around the cavity makes abnormal and three-dimensional noise and vibration even thought the aspect ratio (L/D) is small. The cavity giving large effects to the flow might make large noise, cause structural damage or breakage, harm the aerodynamic performance and stability, or damage the sensitive devices. In this study, numerical analysis was performed for cavity flows by the unsteady compressible three dimensional Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations with Wilcox's $\kappa-\omega$ turbulence model. The MPI(Message Passing Interface) parallelized code was used for calculations by PC-cluster. The cavity has the aspect ratios of 2.5, 3.5 and 4.5 with the W/D ratio of 2 for three-dimensional cavities. The Sound Pressure Level (SPL) analysis was done with FFT to check the dominant frequency of the cavity flow. The dominant frequencies were analyzed and compared with the results of Rossiter's formula and Ahuja& Mendoza's experimental datum.

In this study, forces and moments were measured on a projectile which consisted of a missile configuration body(shell) and a head installed control fins. The shell and the head were separated each other and the shell was rotated by an electric motor. The head rotated reversely against the rotational direction of the shell. The rotational force on the head was obtained from a couple of fixed fins of which angular displacement were set to the rotational direction equally. The air velocity was 40m/s on the experiment and the Reynolds number based on the diameter of head was $1.3{\times}10^5$. The other couple of fins were used to control the position and direction of the projectile by changing the angular displacement. From this experiment, the variation of force and moment were measured on the rotating projectile, and the effective amplitude and frequency were obtained through the FFT analysis.

This paper proposes a framework to predict the mechanical fault of hot rolling mill system (HRMS). The optimum process of HRMS is usually identified by the rotating velocity of working roll. Therefore, observing the velocity of working roll is relevant to early know the HRMS condition. In this paper, we propose the framework which consists of two methods namely spectrum matrix which related to case-based fast Fourier transform(FFT) analysis, and three dimensional condition monitoring based on novel visualization. Validation of the proposed method has been conducted using vibration data acquired from HRMS by accelerometer sensors. The acquired data was also tested by developed software referred as hot rolling mill facility analysis module. The result is plausible and promising, and the developed software will be enhanced to be capable in prediction of remaining useful life of HRMS.
A wave buoy commonly used for measurements in marine environments is very useful for measurements on the sea surface wind and waves. However, it is constantly exposed to external forces such as typhoons and the risk of accidents caused by ships. Therefore, the installation and maintenance charges are large and constant. In this study, we developed a system for monitoring the sea surface wind using marine radar to provide spatial and temporal information about sea surface waves at a small cost. The essential technology required for this system is radar signal processing. This paper also describes the analytical process of using it for monitoring the sea surface wind. Consequently, developing this system will make it possible to replace wave buoys in the near future.

Proper design of blocker dies is one of the most important aspect of impression and closed-die forging to achieve adequate metal distribution. Determination of the blocker configuration is a very difficult task and is art in itself, requiring skills achieved only by years of extensive experience. To save the cost and time of blocker design, many methods using computer were proposed. In this research, low pass filter method proposed by Oh etc. was applied to blocker die design of spoiler support, part of aircraft and plasticine model experiment of closed die forging of spoiler support was accomplished to verify the validity of the blocker designed.
A supersonic inlet at angle of attack has anti-symmetric pressure distribution, and it can make flow instability and structural problem. In this study, numerical analysis of three-dimensional inviscid flow was conducted under various throttle ratio and angle of attack conditions. Throttle ratio was defined as the ratio of the exit area to the smallest cross section area at inlet, and the ratio is controlled from 0 to 2.42. At various angle of attack, the characteristics of steady and unsteady flow around supersonic inlet is observed under different throttling ratios. From these results, pressure recovery curves and pressure history curves were plotted by post processing. Using pressure history data, FFT analysis is also carried out. Through these processes, it shows the tendency of pressure distribution anti-symmetricity and changing dominant frequency as increasing angle of attack.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the affection of plan configuration on human emotion using Virtual Reality. A total of four different plan configuration was selected according to the prior study and built using Virtual Reality. The EEG was measured and then calculated using FFT to measure human emotion in different plan configurations. The measurements were shown to lead there was a significant statistical difference in four types of brainwaves between the plan types(p<0.05). This indicates that there is a possibility of plan configuration may exacerbate psychological disorder among single-person household and suggests that it is possible to counteract those stress among single-person household by changing the plan configuration in the earlier designing stage.

This paper describes a development of a portable physical activity monitoring system using two accelerometers to quantify physical activity. The system hardware consists of two piezoresistive accelerometers, amplifiers with gain of 30, lowpass filters with cut-off frequency of 15Hz, offset control circuits, one-chip microcontroller and flash memory card. In order to evaluate the performance of the system we acquired 3 channel data at 32 sample/sec from body-fixed accelerometers in chest and right upper leg. And then the acquired data were processed by MatLab on personal computer. We tried to distinguish not only fundamental actions which are steady-state activities such as standing, sitting, and lying but also dynamic activities with walking, up a stairway, down a stairway, and running. Five subjects participated the evaluation process which compare the video data with the measured data. As a result, the activity classification rate of 90.6% on average was obtained. Overall results showed that the steady-state activities could be classified from the low component of 3-axis acceleration signal and dynamic activities could be distinguished from frequency analysis using wavelet transform and FFT. Finally, we could find that this system can be applied to acquire and analyze the static and dynamic physical activity data.

In this paper, we propose a channel estimation method by impulse signal train in OFDM. In order to estimate the channel response, 4 impulse signals are generated and transmitted during one OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) symbol. The intervals between the impulse signals are all equal in time domain. At the receiver, the impulse response signals are summed and averaged. And then, the averaged impulse response signal is zero padded and fast Fourier transformed to obtain the channel estimation. The BER performance of the proposed method is compared with those of conventional estimation method using the long training sequence in fast fading environments. The simulation results show that the proposed method improves by 3 dB in terms of Eb/No, compared with the conventional method.

We developed an SD-OCT (Spectral Domain-Optical Coherence Tomography) system which uses a GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) for processing. The image size from the SD-OCT system is $1024{\times}512$ and the speed is 110 frame/sec in real-time. K-domain linearization, FFT (Fast Fourier Transform), and log scaling were included in the GPU processing. The signal processing speed was about 62 ms using a CPU (Central Processing Unit) and 1.6 ms using a GPU, which is 39 times faster. We performed an in-vivo retinal scan, and reconstructed a 3D visualization based on C-scan images. As a result, there were minimal motion artifacts and we confirmed that tomograms of blood vessels, the optic nerve, and the optic disk are clearly identified. According to the results of this study, this SD-OCT can be applied to real-time 3D display technology, particularly auxiliary instruments for eye operations in ophthalmology.
