A spiting reinforcement system is composed of a series of radially installed reinforcing spites along the perimeter of the tunnel opening ahead of excavation. The reinforcing spill network is extended into the in-situ soil mass both radially and longitudinally The sailing reinforcement system has been successfully used for the construction of underground openings to reinforce weak rock formations on several occasions. The application of this spiting reinforcement system is currently extended to soft ground tunneling in limited occasions because of lack of reliable analysis and design methods. A method of threetimensional limit equilibrium stability analysis of the smile-reinforced shallow tunnel in soft ground is presented. The shape of the potential failure wedge for the case of smile-reinforced shallow tunnel is assumed on the basis of the results of three dimensional finite element analyses. A criterion to differentiate the spill-reinforced shallow tunnel from the smile-reinforced deep tunnel is also formulated, where the tunnel depth, soil type, geometry of the tunnel and reinforcing spites, together with soil arching effects, are considered. To examine the suitability of the proposed method of threedimensional stability analysis in practice, overall stability of the spill-reinforced shallow tunnel at facing is evaluated, and the predicted safety factors are compared with results from twotimensional analyses. Using the proposed method of threetimensional limit equilibrium stability analysis of the smile-reinforced shallow tunnel in soft ground, a parametric study is also made to investigate the effects of various design parameters such as tunnel depth, smile length and wadial spill spacing. With slight modifications the analytical method of threeiimensional stability analysis proposed may also be extended for the analysis and design of steel pipe reinforced multi -step grouting technique frequently used as a supplementary reinforcing method in soft ground tunnel construction.

In this work, signal transmission properties of SATA connector have been improved using its differential impedance calculation and its design revision to closer impedance matching. Using 3 dimensional electromagnetic field simulator, the differential mode S-parameter was calculated to investigate its signal fidelity. The differential impedance is calculated from the equation of the odd mode impedance with inductance, capacitance, mutual inductance, and mutual capacitance. The differential impedance of SATA connector was calculated to be $107.3{\Omega}$ and did not meet the design specification with $100{\Omega}{\pm}5%$. In order to achieve its impedance range and improve its signal transmission properties, SATA connector's design has been revised with two different directions and analyzed through the calculation of differential impedance, differential reflection loss, and differential insertion loss.

Previous domestic studies on silos have been carried out in many ways in various fields. On the other hand, research on the design and construction of the silo itself have not be conducted actively and an economical approach is rare. The present study provides basic information to determine the scale of the most economical silo, while satisfying the necessary conditions required by construction companies or design firms. The analysis was carried out with various parameters for reinforced concrete structures, including four kinds of storage material (flour, granulated quicklime, sand, and iron ore), five capacity sizes (10,000, 30,000, 50,000, 70,000, 90,000 ton), eight variants of H/D (0.5~4), and three types of concrete compressive strengths (30, 35, 40 MPa). The findings established a general rule in that a silo designed between 1 and 3 H/D with a greater concrete strength (40MPa and over) depending on the type of storage material would be the most cost-effective (more than 50% of quantity and labor savings).
In this study, free vibration analysis of functionally graded (FG) porous truncated conical shell panels reinforced by graphene platelets (GPLs) has been investigated for the first time. Additionally, the effect of three different types of porosity distribution and five different types of GPLs patterns on dynamic response of the shell are also studied. Halpin-Tsai micromechanical model and Voigt's rule are used to determine Young modulus, shear modulus and Poisson's ratio with mass densities of the shell, respectively. The main novelties of present study are: applying 3D elasticity theory and the finite element method in conjunction with Rayleigh-Ritz method to give more accurate results unlike other simplified shell theories, and also presenting a general 3D solution in cylindrical coordinate system that can be used for analyses of different structures such as circular, annular and annular sector plates, cylindrical shells and panels, and conical shells and panels. A convergence study is performed to justify the correctness of the obtained solution and numerical results. The impact of porosity and GPLs patterns, the volume of voids, the weight fraction of graphene nanofillers, semi vertex and span angles of the cone, and various boundary conditions on natural frequencies of the functionally graded panel have been comprehensively studied and discussed. The results show that the most important parameter on dynamic response of FG porous truncated conical panel is the weight fraction of nanofiller and adding 1% weight fraction of nanofiller could increase 57% approximately the amounts of natural frequencies of the shell. Moreover, the porosity distribution has great effect on the value of natural frequency of structure rather than the porosity coefficient.
According to recent figures, 35% of the world's blades are made using prepreg blades, by Vestas and Gamesa. They are the most advanced in the market today. In this study, we investigated the validity of the finite element method (FEM) applied to an FE analysis of a hybrid composite wind-turbine blade. Two methods were suggested for a composite FE analysis: using the equivalent properties of the composite or using stacking properties. FE analysis results using the stacking properties of the composite were in good agreement with results of using the equivalent properties. The difference between FE results was approximately 0.6~13.3%.
In ocean industry, free surface type ART (Anti Roll tank) system has been widely used to suppress the roll motion of floating structures. In those, various obstacles have been devised to obtain the sufficient damping and to enhance the controllability of freely rushing water inside the tank. Most of previous researches have paid on the development of simple mathematical formula for coupled ship-ARTs analysis although other numerical and experimental approaches exist. Little attention has been focused on the use of 3D panel method for preliminary design of free surface type ART despite its advantages in computational time and general capacity for hydrodynamic damping estimation. This study aims at developing a potential theory based hydrodynamic code for the analysis of floating structure with baffled ARTs. The sloshing in baffled tanks is modeled through the linear potential theory with FE discretization and it coupled with hydrodynamic equations of floating structures discretized by BEM and FEM, resulting in direct coupled FE-BE formulation. The general capacity of proposed formulation is emphasized through the coupled hydrodynamic analysis of floating structure and sloshing inside baffled ARTs. In addition, the numerical methods for natural sloshing frequency tuning and estimation of hydrodynamic damping ratio of liquid sloshing in baffled tanks undergoing wave exiting loads are developed through the proposed formulation. In numerical examples, effects of natural frequency tuning and baffle ratios on the maximum and significant roll motions are investigated.

This paper presents experimental and analytic methods to reduce interior noise generated by car axle. The test vehicle has a whine noise problem at passenger seats. In order to identify transfer path of interior axle noise, the vibration path analysis, the modal analysis and running modal analysis are systematically employed. By using these various methods, it has been founded that the interior noise generated by car axle was air borne noise. To reduce and predict axle noise, various structural modifications are performed by using FEM and BEM techniques, respectively. Through the modification of the axle structure, the air borne noise of the axle was reduced 3$\sim$4 dBA level.

This paper presents the 3-dimensional electromagnetic field analysis method and correction of sensor distortion that is used by a motor speed sensor. The magnetic sensors are being expanded due to lower price than the other speed sensors such as resolver and encoder. Magnetic sensor generates sine and cosine waves when the motor rotates. However, the sine and cosine signals are distorted due to magnetic noise, which makes the angle error of the sensor, generated near by the Hall element. This paper defines an optimal design variables by using the Taguchi method to minimize output distortion of the magnetic sensor and permanent magnet. To enhance reliability of the magnetic position sensor from sensitivity error, assembly amplitude mismatch and the electrical angle, 3-Dimensional electromagnetic finite element method and correction algorithm errors were performed in due of the magnetic sensor in order to improve the quality of the initial production model.
Reinforced concrete (RC) deep beams are critical structural elements used in offshore pile caps, rectangular cross-section water tanks, silo structures, transfer beams in high-rise buildings, and bent caps. As a result of the low shear span ratio to effective depth (a/d) in deep beams, arch action occurs, which leads to shear failure. Several studies have been carried out to improve the shear resistance of RC deep beams and avoid brittle fracture behavior in recent years. This study was performed to investigate the behavior of RC deep beams numerically and experimentally with different reinforcement arrangements. Deep beams with four different reinforcement arrangements were produced and tested under monotonic static loading in the study's scope. The horizontal and vertical shear reinforcement members were changed in the test specimens to obtain the effects of different reinforcement arrangements. However, the rebars used for tension and the vertical shear reinforcement ratio were constant. In addition, the behavior of each deep beam was obtained numerically with commercial finite element analysis (FEA) software ABAQUS, and the findings were compared with the experimental results. The results showed that the reinforcements placed diagonally significantly increased the load-carrying and energy absorption capacities of RC deep beams. Moreover, an apparent plastic plateau was seen in the load-displacement curves of these test specimens in question (DE-2 and DE-3). This finding also indicated that diagonally located reinforcements improve displacement ductility. Also, the numerical results showed that the FEM method could be used to accurately predict RC deep beams'behavior with different reinforcement arrangements.

This paper deals with an optimal angle error reduction method of magnetic hall sensor using hall effect elements with yoke. The magnetic position sensor is required to generate ideal sine and cosine waveforms from its hall effect elements according to rotation angle for precise angle information. However, the output signals are easy to include harmonics due to uneven magnetic field distribution from disturbance in the vicinity of hall effect elements. Thus, The paper studies a way which makes sine and cosine waveforms robust in disturbance and reduces harmonics by installing a yoke around Hall effect elements. The angle detection simulation for the magnetic hall sensor is performed by 3 dimensional finite element method and Taguchi method, one of the design of experiments. For the Taguchi method, three design parameters related to position of hall effect elements and shape of hall effect element yoke are selected.
