  • For high density optical storage, there should be a high NA objective lens and a shorter wavelength laser diode. To secure the disc tilt margin related to the coma aberration, moreover, it's difficult to apply the tilt compensation mechanism into the portable PC. In this paper, we proposed the 3-axis asymmetry pickup actuator with high efficiency symmetric magnetic circuit, which consisted of the top cover type inner yoke for high magnetic flux density, the coil stack unit for the 3-axis independent operation and vertically polarized magnets.   • A note-book PC has become thinner in recent years. And optical disc drives are required to have high memory capacity. Therefore, the actuator of optical disc drives must be thinner and have disc tilt compensation function for high density memory. In this paper, the hybrid type actuator is investigated for 3-axis ultra-slim actuator. A 3-axis ultra-slim actuator is designed by using the modal analysis of the actuator and the electromagnetic analysis of magnetic circuit to achieve dynamic characteristics and magnetic flux density for high sensitivity, respectively. Also, magnetic force between tilt magnet and tilt yoke is investigated to find the influence on the DC sensitivity in the focus and track directions.

  • A general expression using the nonmultipole expansion method is derived for the NMR shift arising from 3d electron angular momentum and the 3d electron spin dipolar-nuclear spin angular momentum interactions for a 3$d^2$ system in a strong crystal field environment of octahedral symmetry when the threefold axis is chosen as the quantization axis. The NMR shift is separated to the contribution of constant, $1/R^5\;and\;1/R^7$ terms and compared with the multipolar terms. We find that $1/R^5$ term contributes dominantly to the NMR shift but the contribution of $1/R^7$ term may not be negligible. It is also found that the exact values of the NMR shift are in agreement with the multipolar results for distances larger than 0.35 nm.

  • In the multi-purpose lathe, the design of tilting turret slide system has an important and critical role to enhance the accuracy of the machining process. Tilting turret unit is traveled by 3-axis slide systems. There is a need to design this part very carefully. In this research, the 3-axis slide system with tilting turret unit is modeled and simulated using ADAMS software. The dynamic behavior of this system is visualized by data graphs and dynamic animations. The first step of virtual prototype which makes it possible to design economically and effectively is developed.

1축 로드셀 배열을 사용한 픽 커터의 3축 절삭력 측정방법 (Method for measuring 3-axis cutting force of a pick cutter using the single-axis load cell array)

  • 본 연구에서는 고가의 3-D 로드셀을 대체하기 위해 1축 압축 로드셀 배열을 사용한 새로운 픽 커터 3축 절삭력 측정방법을 제안하였다. 제안한 절삭력 측정방법은 4개의 1축 압축 로드셀과 숄더 볼트를 통해 기계적 구속을 만들어 3축 절삭력을 측정할 수 있다. 유한요소해석을 통해 제안한 새로운 절삭력 측정방법을 타당성을 확인하였으며, 최종적으로 실제 선형 암반절삭 시험을 통해 제안한 새로운 측정방법의 3축 힘 측정 정확도를 확인하였다. 시험 결과 새로운 절삭력 측정방법은 상대오차가 약 6% 이내이므로, 기존의 3-D 로드셀을 대체할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 더불어, 기존 고가의 3-D 로드셀 대비 약 20-30%의 비용만으로 구축 가능하므로 절삭력 측정에 사용되는 비용을 크게 줄일 수 있다.

Off-axis 고주파 마그네트론 스퍼터링법을 이용한 이종에피텍셜 ZnO 박막 성장 (Growth of Heteroepitaxial ZnO Thin Film by Off-axis RF Magnetron Sputtering)

  • Off-axis 고주파 마그네트론 스퍼터링법으로 사파이어(0001) 기판 위에 이종에피텍셜 ZnO 박막을 제조하였다. ZnO 박막의 결정성은 증착압력, RF power 그리고 기판온도의 공정조건 변화에 많은 영향을 받았으며, 스퍼터링된 입자의 적당한 kinetic energy와 기판표면에서의 표면이동도(surface mobility)가 조화를 이룰 때 결정성이 우수한 이종에피텍셜 박막을 을 얻을 수 있었다. 이종에피텍셜 ZnO 박막의 Photoluminescence(PL) 특성 측정 결과, 저온(17K)에서 약 3.36 eV의 자외선 영역 발광을 관찰할 수 있었으며, 상온에서도 3.28 eV의 자외선 영역 발광을 관찰할 수 있었다. ZnO 박막을 산소 분위기에서 열처리함에 따라 결정성은 향상되는 반면 자외선 영역의 발광은 급격히 감소하는 경향을 보였다.

재활로봇용 3축 힘/토크센서 설계 (Design of Three-Axis Force/Torque Sensor for Rehabilitation Robot)

  • In this study, we described the design of a three-axis force/torque sensor for measuring the force and torque in a lower-limb rehabilitation robot. The three-axis force/torque sensor is composed of Fx force sensor, Fz force sensor and Tz torque sensor. The sensing element for Fx force sensor and Tz torque sensor is used in a two-step parallel plate beam, and that of Fz force sensor is used in a parallel plate beam. The rated loads of Fx force sensor, Tz torque sensor and Fz force sensor are 300 N, 15 N m and 100 N, respectively. The three-axis force/torque sensor was designed using the finite element method, and manufactured using strain-gauges. The three-axis force sensor was further characterized. As a result, the interference error of the three-axis force/torque sensor was < 1.24%, the repeatability error of each sensor was < 0.03%, and the non-linearity was < 0.02%.

인간형 로봇을 위한 6축 힘/모멘트센서 개발 (Development of 6-axis force/moment sensor for a humonoid robot)

  • This paper describes the development of 6-axis force/moment sensor for a humanoid robot. In order to walk on uneven terrain safely, the robot's foot should perceive the applied forces Fx, Fy, Fz and moments Mx, My, Mz to itself, and be controlled by the foot using the forces and moments. Also, in order to grasp unknown object safely, the robot's hand should perceive the weight of the object using the mounted 6-axis force/moment sensor to its wrist, and be controlled by the hand using the forces and moments. Therefore, 6-axis force/moment sensor should be necessary for a humanoid robot's hand and foot. In this paper, 6-axis force/moment sensor for a humanoid robot was developed using many PPBs (parallel plate-beams). The structure of the sensor was newly modeled, and the sensing element of the sensor was designed using theoretical analysis. Then, 6-axis force/moment sensor was fabricated by attaching strain-gages on the sensing elements, and the characteristic test of the developed sensor was carried out. The rated outputs from theoretical analysis agree well with the results from the experiments.

Nucleation and Growth of b-Axis Oriented $PrBa_2Cu_3O_{7-x}$ Thin Films on $LaSrGaO_4$ (100) Substrates

  • Good quality a-axis oriented thin films of $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-x}$ may be grown by the use of a $PrBa_2Cu_3O_{7-x}$ (PBCO) layer as a template. Here we present a detailed study of the nucleation of the PBCO layer, explaining the orientations observed. It is determined that the wavy surface of a $LaSrGaO_4$ (LSGO) (100) substrate consists of the {101} planes by observing cross-sectional transmission electron microscopy images of the interface between the PBCO film and the substrate. The images and selected area diffraction patterns show that a mixed c-and b-axis oriented PBCO layer was initially grown on the substrate, followed by pure b-axis oriented PBCO growth. We explain that the c-axis oriented growth is the result of the growth of the PBCO (019) planes on the LSGO (101) planes. We conclude that the nucleation and growth of the PBCO films at the initial stages depends on the crystallographic plane of the substrate surfaces, however, as the film grows further, the kinetics of the deposition process favors b-axis oriented growth.

  • This study deals with the machining of sculptured surfaces on 5-axis CNC milling machine with end mill cutter. The study (I) has the following contents. In 5-axis CNC milling, CL-data consist of CC-data and cutter axis direction vector at the CC-point. Thus, in machining of the sculptured surface on 5-axis CNC milling machine, determination of the direction vector of the milling cutter is very important. The direction vector is obtained by the fact that bottom plane of the milling cutter must not interfere with the free-form surface being machined. The interference is checked by the z-map method which can be applied in all geometric types of the sculptured surfaces. After generating NC part programs from 5-axis post-processing algorithms, sculptured surfaces were machined with 5-axis CNC milling machine (CINCINNATI MILACRON, 20V-80). From these machining tests, it was shown that the machining of the free-form surfaces on 5-axis CNC milling machine with the end mill has smaller cusp heights and shorter cutting time than on 3-axis CNC milling machine with the ball-end mill. Thus, 5-axis CNC end milling was effective machining method for sculptured surfaces. The study (II) deals with the prediction of cusp height and the determination of tool path interval for the 5-axis machining of sculptured surfaces on the basis of study(I).
