Application of Image Based VR Technique for Volume Data Web Service (볼륨데이터의 웹 서비스를 위한 이미지 기반 가상현실의 적용)

  • The Virtual Reality (VR) is an appealing subject which can be applied to various areas because of its merit - removal of time limits and space. Recently, as the technology of xDSL spreads widely, a concern of VR is on the on-line service of 3D model data in real time. But, the immensity of 3D model is an obstacle to achieve these endeavors. To solve these problems, the image based VR technique is applied. The proposed method in this paper is one of solutions on the immensity problem of 3D model data in the on-line services. This paper exploits the mixed technique of image based VR and surface rendering based on volume rendering. By using the proposed method, we can solve the immensity problem. Consequently, tole service user can explore virtual 2D volume model with almost equal to reality of 3D volume model. Furthermore, this paper explains a method to implement this service on general web environments. Of course, to fulfill these procedures, additional skills which reduce consuming time in data mining are also mentioned. The contribution of this paper is to provide a practical method for handling of large volume data web service in real-time. illustrative examples are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • The best way to express space effectively on internet is to use 3D VR(Virtual Reality) contents. But it is too difficult to control the 3D VR space with the 2D device. So the content makers cannot solve this problem easily. Besides they define the UI control in their own subjective way which makes the users confused. The purpose of this study is to present the grounds for the Control UI standardization by studying the deriving improvement direction. First of all, we categorize current control UI designs for space-VR on web service by controlling method features into three Types. Next we itemize the main improvement direction that is based on our analysis. First, the UI design that maintains for a typical 2D Input Device method to help the beginner users. Secondly, the concise UI that allows users to Immerse easily in VR. Thirdly, the control level construction that satisfies both users who are skillful at 3D games and users who have little experience with these devices. In this way, we propose the most suitable control UI model that satisfies these improvement directions. We expect the result of our study to serve as an important basis for the standardization of VR services.

  • The paper describes implementation of three-dimensional visualization system that is to provide comprehensive meaning of the statistical prediction results on the marine casualties. Graphical User Interface (GUI) and Web based Virtual Reality (VR) technology are mainly introduced in the system development. To provide daily forecasting, time based casualty prediction model and risk level index are developed in this work. As operating test results of the system, complicated statistical meaning can be shown in the three-dimensional virtual space using simple color. In addition, daily risk levels can be shown on the bar-graph.

  • 논문에서는 물고기 객체의 형태를 VRML로 작성하고 이 객체의 형태와 움직임을 촉감을 통하여 사용자에게 제시하는 벙법을 제안한다. 제안된 기법은 정교한 외형을 위하여 물고기 객체를 3차원으로 모델링 하였고 이 객체는 VRML로 구축된 VR에 존재한다. VR에서 사용자와 프로그래밍 되어진 객체사이에 유연한 햅틱 작용을 위하여 촉감이 작용하도록 햅틱 이벤트를 발생시키고 이를 햅틱 디바이스와 연동시켰다.

  • This paper presents a method to generate three-dimensional AR/VR models using the information in Isogen data files (IDFs). An IDF is an output file produced by ISOGEN that contains piping isometric drawings. A piping isometric drawing is used for pipeline installation in the shipyard; therefore, the drawing describes assembly information with symbolic features, not with detailed geometric features. An IDF specifies relationships between piping routes and components with three-dimensional points and tag information as well as the bill of the materials of a pipeline. The key idea of this paper is that AR/VR models can be generated with the piping route points data and piping components tag information in real time, without any conversion of standard data exchange file formats, such as STP, IGES, and SAT. This paper describes IDF data structure and suggests the geometry generation process with IDF data and parametric functions.

  • 본 논문에서는 바이러스와 같은 생화학 물질의 분자구조를 3 차원 모델로 시각화하여 관찰하고, 그 분자모델을 직관적인 방법으로 조작하기 위한 가상 현실 분자 모델링 시스템을 제안한다. 이 시스템을 사용하면, 입체영상 디스플레이 장치와 데이터 글러브 및 동작 추적 장치를 사용하여 3 차원 분자 모델을 실감나게 조작할 수 있어서 효율적으로 분자들을 관찰하고 결합, 분리하는 등의 분자 모델링 작업이 가능하다. 사용자들은 마우스나 키보드 등의 장비 대신에 자연스러운 몸 동작이나 손 동작을 이용하여 분자 모델링 작업을 위한 동작을 하게 된다. 분자들의 결합을 화학적으로 정확하게, 그리고 실시간으로 시뮬레이션 하기 위해서 에너지 계산 알고리즘을 구현하였으며 이러한 작업이 가능하도록 분자 구조를 표현하는 새로운 자료구조를 제안하였다. 본 연구에서 제안하는 동작 기반의 VR 분자 모델링 시스템의 타당성을 검증하기 위하여 HIV 바이러스 분자를 가지고 분자 모델링 작업을 수행하였고, 사용자 테스트를 실시하여 기존의 방식과 작업 성능 및 사용자 만족도를 비교하였다.

Emotion Classification DNN Model for Virtual Reality based 3D Space (가상현실 기반 3차원 공간에 대한 감정분류 딥러닝 모델)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the use of the Deep Neural Networks(DNN) model to classify user's emotions, in particular Electroencephalography(EEG) toward Virtual-Reality(VR) based 3D design alternatives. Four different types of VR Space were constructed to measure a user's emotion and EEG was measured for each stimulus. In addition to the quantitative evaluation based on EEG data, a questionnaire was conducted to qualitatively check whether there is a difference between VR stimuli. As a result, there is a significant difference between plan types according to the normalized ranking method. Therefore, the value of the subjective questionnaire was used as labeling data and collected EEG data was used for a feature value in the DNN model. Google TensorFlow was used to build and train the model. The accuracy of the developed model was 98.9%, which is higher than in previous studies. This indicates that there is a possibility of VR and Fast Fourier Transform(FFT) processing would affect the accuracy of the model, which means that it is possible to classify a user's emotions toward VR based 3D design alternatives by measuring the EEG with this model.

  • There exist a variety of VR(Virtual Reality) contents that have been developed by the use of the latest VR technologies. Unlike the rapid advances in the recent VR devices however, the development of VR based game contents that fully utilize such cutting-edge devices has been lackluster. Using more accessible form of smartphone-based HMDs(Head-Mounted Displays), we compare two popular VR presentation methods(a realistic 3D VR karaoke room and a 360 degree video karaoke room) and analyze their users' immersion and realistic perception. We expect that our study can be utilized as a supporting guideline for future smartphone-based VR content developments.

  • Recently, the Virtual Reality(VR) became one of the most powerful tools in making media files. In the field of engineering, while it is increasing to use 3D CAD model in the process of design to manufacturing, the VR is not popular in comparison with media business. XVL(eXtensible Virtual Reality Markup Language) is one of XML(eXtensible Markup Language) which is a standard web media language. XVL provides the connection between 3D CAD data and virtual reality, and it can be easily published through internet for the engineering purpose. In this study, a web based VR model for major components in a nuclear power plant has been developed by using XVL and corresponding 3D CAD data. The proposed model is expected to be used in the engineering field to cooperate among experts, and also, it will provide more plausible explanation to ordinary people.
