Pedestrian Network Models for Mobile Smart Tour Guide Services

  • The global positioning system (GPS)-enabled mobile phones provide location-based applications such as car and pedestrian navigation services. The pedestrian navigation services provide safe and comfortable route and path guidance for pedestrians and handicapped or elderly people. One of the essential components for a navigation system is a spatial database used to perform navigation and routing functions. In this paper, we develop modeling and categorization of pedestrian path components for smart tour guide services using the mobile pedestrian navigation application. We create pedestrian networks using 2D base map and sky view map in urban area. We also construct pedestrian networks and attributes of node, link, and POI using on-site GPS data and photos for smart pedestrian tour guide in the major walking tourist spots in Jeju.

Marginal and internal discrepancy of 3-unit fixed dental prostheses fabricated by subtractive and additive manufacturing (절삭 및 적층 가공법으로 제작된 3본 고정성 국소의치의 변연 및 내면 적합도에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose: This study was to evaluate marginal and internal discrepancy of 3-unit fixed dental prostheses (FDP) fabricated by subtractive manufacturing and additive manufacturing. Materials and methods: 3-unit bridge abutments without the maxillary left second premolar were prepared (reference model) and the reference model scan data was obtained using an intraoral scanner. 3-unit fixed dental prostheses were fabricated in the following three ways: Milled 3-unit FDP (MIL), digital light processing (DLP) 3D printed 3-unit FDP (D3P), stereolithography apparatus (SLA) 3D printed 3-unit FDP (S3P). To evaluate the marginal/internal discrepancy and precision of the prosthesis, scan data were superimposed by the triple-scan protocol and the combinations calculator, respectively. Quantitative and qualitative analysis was performed using root mean square (RMS) value and color difference map in 3D analysis program (Geomagic control X). Statistical analysis was performed using the Kruskal-Wallis test (α=.05), MannWhitney U test and Bonferroni correction (α=.05/3=.017). Results: The marginal discrepancy of S3P group was superior to MIL and D3P groups, and MIL and D3P groups were similar. The D3P and S3P groups showed better internal discrepancy than the MIL group, and there was no significant difference between the D3P and S3P groups. The precision was excellent in the order of MIL, S3P, and D3P groups. Conclusion: Within the limitation of this study, the 3-unit fixed dental prostheses fabricated by additive manufacturing showed better marginal and internal discrepancy than the those of fabricated by subtractive manufacturing, but the precision was poor.

  • Recently, as a part of NGIS project, cultural-assets digital map is produced by cultural properties administration and local autonomous entities. Cultural-assets unified GIS(Geographic Information System) is essential to cultural properties managers md other organizations which are executing land related business for appling it at planning stage. With explosive national land developments, it has been obligated to implement surface survey by the cultural properties protection Art. In this paper, the authors used the district of Sachon city and made 3D terrain model using digital map which is made of 1/5000 stale. Moreover, the authors improved to RDBMS(Relational Database Management System) structure and remodeled the existing DB design in detail, and also tried recovery of past sea level, based on researches about the water level of southern area. By recover past sea level. the shell mound, apart from lever is actually near lever at past, and it make sure its nature. The authors suggested to realize shape and kind of remains which have 3D information of accuracy and actualization from surface-surveying to excavation.

Wideband Signal Generator Implementation for Earth Observation Satellite (지구관측위성 광대역 신호 발생기 구현)

  • The wideband chirp signal generator to enhance the resolution of synthetic aperture radar of obtaining the earth observation image is needed. This paper deals with designing, manufacturing and testing the wideband digital chirp signal generator having high resolution for LEO earth observation satellite. The wideband digital chirp signal generator is implemented with the memory-map based structure which is mostly applied in the satellite, and consists of the digital module to generate the digital chirp signal and the RF module to perform the quadrature modulation. The I/Q signals stored in the memory of the digital module are D/A converted and delivered to be quadrature modulated with the reference signal of 1275 MHz in the RF module. Furthermore, the test bench and GUI to validate the signal generator function are also developed. It is found that the requirement of 144 MHz bandwidth for the digital chirp signal generator is well met. Finally it is noteworthy that the distortion occurred in the chirp signal generator was compensated by the pre-distortion compensation.

  • DEM(Digital Elevation Model) is used widely in image processing, water resources, construction, GIS, landscape architecture, telecommunication, military operations and other related areas. And it is used especially in producing ortho-photo based on specific DEM and developing 3D GIS database vividly. As LiDAR(Light and Detection And Ranging) system emerged recently, DEM could be developed in urban area more efficiently and more economically, compared to the conventional DEM Production. Traditional method using check points for elevation has tome limitations in structure's height accuracy by LiDAR, because it uses only terrain height. Accordingly after the downtown of Chungju city was selected as a test field in this paper and DEM and digital ortho images was produced by way of LiDar survey, the accuracy was evaluated through analytical plotting map. The result shows that in case of buildings in LiDAR DEM, the accuracy is 0.30 m in X, 0.62 m in Y and RMS is 1.17 m. The difference distribution between DEM and plotting map in range of $\pm$10 cm was 36.2% and $\pm$10 cm $\pm$20 cm was 43.53%. The accuracy of LiDAR in this study meets 1/5,000 which is the regulation for map of NGI(National Geography Institute) and LiDAR can be possibly used in many other applied area.

  • In this study, we investigate the feasibility of modeling entire image strips that has been acquired from the same orbital segments. We tested sensor models based on satellite orbit and attitude with different sets(Type1 ~ Type4) of unknowns. We checked the accuracy of orbit modeling by establishing sensor models of one scene using control points extracted from the scene and by applying the models to adjacent scenes within the same orbital segments. Results indicated that modeling of individual scenes with 1st or 2nd order unknowns was recommended. We tested the accuracy of around control points, digital map using the HIST-DPW (Hanjin Information Systems & Telecommunication Digital Photogrammetric Workstation) As a result, we showed that the orbit-based sensor model is a suitable sensor model for making 1/25,000 digital map.

  • This study aims to establish Nammun-ro 2ga in Cheongju city in the 1960s as three-dimensional digital information data for the restoration of urban archetypes. For this purpose, referring to the existing restoration map and model of Cheongju urban area in the 1960s, and the results of this study are as follows. Firstly, the buildings that can be generally classified are prepared through the modeling of parametric families. Secondly, the untypical models(combined and broken roofs, atypical and large scale buildings) of them are simply performed through solid modeling. And then, these simplified models are simulated through a sky view, a walking sight, and information analysis. Through this study, it will be possible to visualize and regenerate the low and dense area of Cheongju city in the 1960s.

  • Real-time 3D visualization of terrain data is one of the important issues in GIS(Geographic Information System) field. We present a real-time terrain rendering engine that can use several types of GIS data source such as DEM(Digital Elevation Map), DTED(Digital Terrain Elevation Data) and LIDAR(Light Detection And Ranging). Our rendering engine is a quadtree-based terrain rendering framework with several acceleration modules. This can generate an ocular and binocular image. Also it can be applied to the flight simulation, walk-through simulation and a variety of GIS applications.

  • In the paper, we try to develop the methodology for updating road networks of large-scale digital maps by using construction drawing data. For the purpose, it is pre-requite step to merge road networks detached in CAD drawing data. As such, tie points are identified in neighboring drawings and used for solving the parameters of 2D conformal transformation between drawings. Then, the merged road network in CAD data is transformed to the coordinate system of digital maps. In the process, IPs in the drawings are considered as control information and 2D affine transformation is selected for coordinate transformation. Through the experiments with real dataset, we can identify that the developed method is valid and generally applicable.

  • In this study, we utilized 2D conformal transformation method to give coordinatesbased on GPS surveying data to NAHMIS (National Highway Management Information System) drawings which are lack of coordinates. To determine the best method which is comparable with GPS digital map, we compared a transformation result obtained by unique parameters applied to the whole region of about 20 km of the NAHMIS drawings and the similar result of the tile based transformations. As the result of map joining, the error was within 2 m for both cases. In this way, NAHMIS can be used for a systematic management of construction drawings. Moreover, NAHMIS can contribute the management of highway and the data exchange between other systems by a unification of coordinate system.
