  • It is expected that transportation sector will develope to a systematic and multi-disciplinary way in which transportation, information and electronic technologies are harmonized. This will be the way that the 21st century demand. To be prepared for such development, sharing of information from different sources through a integrated approach is essential. Also an active role of specialized staff are required to achieve a integrated control and management. The specialized staff should do his best for his task with appropriate specialty, a sense of responsibility, a progressive mind and a vision. He also make much effort to enhance and keep up-to-date his specialty. Then we can modestly look forward to a specialized Information society in the 21s1 century.

  • We developed $21^{st}$ century scientific literacy assessment instrument and applied it to explore the contents of seven Korean science textbooks. The $21^{st}$ century scientific literacy assessment instrument involved three dimensions (habits of mind, character and values, science as human endeavor). Each dimension consists of three sub-dimensions. Five science education experts assessed the content of textbook using criteria. We discussed issues in which the examiners responses did not match and reached an agreement on initial disagreement. As a result, we found that most Korean textbook contained contents on habits of mind, especially, communication, collaboration, and information management. We also found that most materials lacked information about character and values and science as human endeavor. Based on the result, we suggest that researchers and science educators need to consider all dimensions of the $21^{st}$ century scientific literacy when they develop curriculum and teaching materials. In addition, the rubric for $21^{st}$ century scientific literacy can be adopted as an assessment tool for examining curriculum, teaching materials.

  • The objectives of this study are to investigate core learning ability necessary for the 21st century and to develop core human resources required for social and national development in the future. The '21st Century Learning Ability Project' is to approach the existing knowledge and learning multidisciplinary and interactively based on the learning ability of each learner and individually and socially valuable themes. Even in Korea, a variety of intersubject integrative educational curriculum was attempted to cultivate learning ability. However, there are not enough teachers who can teach the differences between the content and characteristics for each subject by fully understanding them. Thus, it is difficult to apply them easily to the field of education. Thus, this study develops the multidisciplinary customized educational curriculum in order to develop the learning ability necessary for the 21st century, analyzes the reality of the educational curriculum integrating the academic knowledge in order to support this effectively. As a result, this study offers the interdisciplinary customized integrated model applicable to elementary and middle schools.

This paper also analyzes the trend of its utilization in the modern fashion design. In order to examine variety of Indian textile design and its modernization, the Indian ethnic dresses found in 21st century western designer collections were compared with the Indian traditional textile design adopted by Indian fashion designers. The result of the study shows followings : Firstly, the typical traditional decoration in Indian textile design contains plangi, chintz, ikat, roghan and embroidery (mirror-work), and the traditional Indian patterns are roughly divided into natural pattern, plant pattern, animal pattern and geometric pattern. Secondly, comparison of 203 fashion items of world top 4 collections with 422 fashion items of Indian designer's collections shows that the paisley pattern obtains the majority in western design collections, while the geometric pattern in Indian designer collections. Thirdly, the comparison and analysis of the 21st century western fashion design shows that the traditional Indian textile design is mostly used in the seasonal trend color or is mixed & matched with other patterns. You can also find the feeling of the traditional Indian patterns in some western collections. In Indian designer collections, on the other hand, the traditional Indian patterns are widely used in the manner that they maintain the traditional feeling, while they are reconstructed in modern style.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of free inquiry lessons utilizing flipped learning with smart devices on digital literacy, $21^{st}$ century skills and scientific attitude of $5^{th}$ graders of elementary school. The subjects of this study were two different $5^{th}$ grade classes in J elementary school located in B metropolitan city. Free inquiry lessons utilizing flipped learning with smart devices were applied to experimental group, whereas comparison group was taught general free inquiry lessons using ordinary teaching materials. The results of this study were as follows: First, free inquiry lessons utilizing flipped learning with smart devices were statistically meaningful on students' digital literacy. Second, free inquiry lessons utilizing flipped learning with smart devices were not statistically meaningful on students' $21^{st}$ century skills. Third, free inquiry lessons utilizing flip teaching with smart devices were not statistically meaningful on students' scientific attitude. Fourth, free inquiry lessons utilizing flipped learning with smart devices caused an effectiveness on students' interests.
