An Impact of Lane Speed Differentials on Lane-Changing Behavior (차로별 속도차가 차로변경에 미치는 영향)

  • 차로변경이 발생하는 두 가지 상황 즉, 강제 차로 변경과 선택적 차로 변경 중, 선택적 차로변경 상황에서 운전자가 수락 가능한 간격을 발견했을 때, 차로별 속도 차가 차로 변경 의사결정에 미치는 영향을 모사할 수 있는 모형식을 추정하였다. 즉, 선택적 차로 변경은 운전자의 차로 변경 여부에 대한 상황판단과 함께 목적 차로의 간격 수락여부에 대한 의사결정으로 이루어지는데, 본 논문에서는 목적 차로에 수락 가능한 간격이 존재할 경우 차로별 속도차가 운전자의 의사결정에 어떤 영향을 미치는지에 대해 분석하였다. 이를 위해, 운전자 의 의사결정에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 다른 요소 즉, 중차량, 기하구조, 및 합·분류의 영향을 최소화하는 지점을 선택하여 표본조사를 실시하였으며, 보다 설명력 있는 모형식을 얻기 위해 상관분석 등을 수행하여 불필요하다고 생각되는 변수는 제외시켰다. 또한, 운전자의 희망속도와 주행 속도 차에 의한 영향을 반영하기 위해 현 차로 속도를 부가적인 변수로 추가하였으며, 계수추정은 통계패키지인 SAS를 이용하였는데, 자료분석에 있어, 속도차 구간에 따라 다른 간격수락 특성을 보여 차로별 속도차를 0∼2.0m/s구간과 2∼11.52m/s구간으로 나누어 분석을 수행하였다. 분석결과 속도차 0∼2.0m/s구간에서는 속도차가 증가할수록 차로 변경률이 높아졌으나, 2∼11.52m/s구간에서는 오히려 차로 변경률이 낮아지는 것으로 나타났는데, 이는 속도 차의 증감에 대해 운전자로 하여금 차로 변경을 유도하는 요소와 함께 저항하게 하는 요소가 있다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 분석결과. 2.0m/s 이상의 속도차에서 차로변경에 대한 저항이 상대적으로 크게 작용한다는 것을 알 수 있었으며, 도로 설계시 이를 반영하여 도로기하구조 및 안전성 등을 향상시킬 수 있을 것으로 보인다.

A Study on Characteristics of Lateral Wheel Path Distributions in Different Traffic Lanes (차로위치에 따른 차량의 횡방향 이격거리 분포 특성에 관한 연구)

  • The research was conducted to investigate the characteristics of lateral wheel path distributions (wandering) in different traffic lanes. The lateral wheel path distributions may affect pavement life and various distress types. The results presented that the normal distribution curve with symmetry was observed in the 2-lane and 3-lane roads. In the case of the 2-lane road (on one direction), the wanderings were 70-95cm, and 70-85cm for the 1st and 2nd lanes, respectively, while in the case of the 3-lane road (on one direction), 50-60cm, 65-85cm, and 80-95cm for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd lanes, respectively. In addition, the 1st lane vehicles tended to pass on the right side to avoid the opposite side vehicles, while the outside lane vehicles tended to pass on the left side to avoid the walkway.

  • Two-Lane Highway of Korea is important, Because it has the largeest portion of all roads of Korea. But it has only one lane for one direction. So, If Delays are happened by low-speed vehicles, high-speed vehicles should over-take through the other side of the road. This over-takings can generate the high possibility of traffic accidents and the severity of traffic accidents by over-takings is very high. Because it generates a head-on collision. But the level of Service that indicates the operation states of Two-Lane Highway is defined as a conception that explains the operation conditions of traffic safety etc. Whencalculating the Level of service. It is considered by only delays. So, in this paper, first, this author wants to present the calculation of delay-time by Total-Delay Rate. Second, by multiplying this delay-time by the costs of delays wants to present the method of calulates the total delay costs. Third, to consider the traffic accidents, After predicting the number of traffic accidents, As multipling this by the average of costs of traffic accidents. want to present the method to calculate Total traffic accidents costs. Forth, present the operation costs.

Estimation of Road Capacity at Two-Lane Freeway Work Zones Considering the Rate of Heavy Vehicles (중차량 비에 따른 편도 2차로 고속도로 공사구간 도로 용량 추정)

  • The objective of this study is to estimate traffic capacity based on the heavy-vehicle ratio in a two-lane freeway work zone where one lane is blocked by construction. For this, closed circuit television (CCTV) video data of the freeway work zone was collected, and the congestion at an upstream point was observed. The traffic volume at a downstream point was analyzed after a bottleneck was created by the blockage due to the upstream congestion. A distribution model was estimated using observed-time headway, and the road capacity was analyzed using a goodness-of-fit test. Through this process, the general capacity and an equation for capacity based on the heavy-vehicle ratio passing through the work zone were presented. Capacity was estimated to be 1,181~1,422 passenger cars per hour per lane (pcphpl) at Yeongdong, and 1,475~1,589pcphpl at Jungbu Naeryuk. As the ratio of heavy vehicles increased, capacity gradually decreased. These findings can contribute to the proper capacity estimation and efficient traffic operation and management for two-lane freeway work zones that block one lane due to a work zone.

A Study on Lane Width Design for Road Diets (도로다이어트를 위한 차로폭 설계 기술에 관한 연구)

  • Rapid urbanization causes a variety of transportation problems, including traffic delay. Then transportation engineers would get involved in trying to solve traffic delay through road constructed and uncongested policy. But lately, traffic policy changed from vehicle-dominated to humandominated and green transportation. Road diet is one of green transportation. Road diets reduce the number of lanes, lane width because supplement space for green transportation including a bicycle road, side-walk, etc. A study on road diets not enough then this study performed a basic study for road diets. This study on lane width reduce for road diets through analyzes sway of moving vehicle. This study results shows lane width of a compacts-size car needs 2.34~2.70m and lane width of a full-size car needs 2.62~2.89m. According to this study lane width can reduce therefore lane width design criterion have to be relieved. This study will be used in a road width reduce including a road diets, road in process of construction and so on.

Development of Two-lane Highway Vehicle Model Based on Discrete Time and Space (이산적 시공간 기반 2차로 도로 차량모형 개발)

  • Two-lane and two-way traffic flow shows various dynamic relationships according to the behaviors of low-speed vehicle and overtaking. And it is essential to develop a vehicle model which simultaneously explains the behaviors of low-speed vehicle and overtaking using opposite lane in order to microscopically analyze various two-lane and two-way traffic flows by traffic flow simulation. In Korea, some studies for car-following and lane-changing models for freeway or signalized road have been reported, but few researches for the development of vehicle model for two-lane and two-way highway have been done. Hence, a microscopic two-lane and two-way vehicle model was, in this study, developed with the consideration of overtaking process and is based on CA (Cellular Automata) which is one of discrete time-space models. The developed model is parallel combined with an adjusted CA car-following model and an overtaking model. The results of experimental simulation showed that the car-following model explained the various macroscopic relationships of traffic flow and overtaking model reasonably generated the various behaviors of macroscopic traffic flows under the conditions of both opposite traffic flow and stochastic parameter to consider overtaking. The vehicle model presented in this study is expected to be used for the simulation of more various two-lane, two-way traffic flows.

  • Traffic demand is continuously increasing due to the development of urban areas in Korea. To cope with this, many efforts have been done including constructions of new roadways and increasing the number of lanes of the existing roadways. Those efforts, however, have been performed for only a short segment of target links having similar traffic characteristics. As a result, most urban cities experience bottle-neck phenomena which lead decreasing flow speed and increasing possibilities of accidents. Thus, this study aims to analyze problems of bottle-neck phenomena and effects of balancing number of lanes along the same corridor having similar traffic characteristics. For this, Route 32 passing the city of Daejeon in Korea has been selected as a case study, and a micro-simulation tool, VISSIM, has been adopted for the analysis. The results show that balanced number of lanes along the same corridor with similar traffic characteristics can increase flow speeds and enhance safety.

  • Autonomous driving-related technologies are developing step by step by applying the degree of driving. It is essential that operational management technology for roads where autonomous vehicles move should also develop in line with autonomous driving technology. However, in the case of road operation management, it is currently managed using only two-dimensional information, showing limitations in the systematic operation management of lane and facility information and maintenance. This study proposed a plan to construct an operation management system architecture capable of 3D spatial information-based operation management by designing a convergence database that can process real-time big data with high-definition road map data. Through this study, when using a high-definition road map based operation management system for lane and facility maintenance in the future, it is possible to visualize and manage facilities, edit and analyze data of multiple users, link various GIS S/W and efficiently process large scale of real-time data.

A Development of a Model for Estimating Traffic Delay in No-Passing Zone (추월금지구간의 지체시간 산정모형 개발)

  • 양방향 2차로 도로는 우리나라 전체 포장도로 연자의 84%를 차지하고 있다. 양방향 2차로 도로의 효율성 및 교통류의 운영상태를 파악하기 위한 서비스 수준 척도로 지체시간의 백분율이 많이 사용되고 있다. 지체시간의 산정은 특정 도로 설계구간을 추원금지구간으로 설계할 것이지, 예산을 더 투자하여 선형을 개선함으로써 추원가능 구간으로 설계할 것인지에 대한 판단 기준을 제시할 수 있기 때문에 도로설계과정에 있어서 매우 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 저속차량의 확률적 분포를 고려하여 추원금지구간에서 발생하는 지체시간을 산정할 수 있는 모형을 제시하였다. 모형식이 기존에 확률적 분포를 고려하여 추월금지구간에서 발생하는 지체시간을 산정할 수 있는 모형을 제시하였다. 모형식이 기존에 개발된 거시적 수학적 모형에 비해 비교적 단순하고 입력변수도 수집이 용이한 점이 특징이라 할 수 있다. 모형의 신뢰성을 현장데이터를 이용하여 검증한 결과, 모혀으이 예측값이 근사적으로 츠덩한 실제 지체시간을 포함하는 긍정적인 결과를 도출하였다. 그러나 모형의 예측값 범위가 넓어 실용적인 MOE로 사용하기에 다소 무리가 있을 것으로 판단되므로, 개략적인 평가기준으로 모형이 예측한 값의 평균값을 보정하여 사용할 것을 제안한다. 모형의 신뢰성을 높이기 위해서는 본 연구에서 가정한 확률분포식에 대한 추가적인 검증이 필요할 것으로 판단된다. 본 연구는 실제 상황을 표현하는데 있어 확률적 개념의 도입과 이러한 새로운 접근방법의 기초를 마련한 측면에서 의미를 갖는다. 또한, 양방향 2차로 도로에서의 지체시간은 실제 소요시간과 자유운행시 즉 다른 차량의 영향을 받지 않았을 때의 속도 및 운영시간과의 차이로 정의한 바, 실제 지체시간을 현장자료를 통해 구하기란 현실적으로 불가능하므로, 본 연구에서는 이러한 제약점을 극복할 수 있는 근사적인 지체시간을 계산하는 방법을 제시한 점에서 의미를 갖을 수 있다.
