  • 한국산 산딸기속(Rubus)의 체세포 염색체 수를 밝히기 위해 19개 분류군을 조사하였다. 한반도에는 Anoplobatus(2종), Cylactis(1종), Idaeobatus(15종), Malachobatus(1종) 4개 아속의 산딸기속 분류군이 분포하며, 대부분(15종)이 2배체가 우세한 Idaeobatus아속에 속한다.

  • Background: Many investigations on phytoplankton from the Nakdong River carried out. However, since the weirs were constructed, only changes in phytoplankton biomass and dominant species have been restrictively studied in phytoplankton investigations in the Nakdong River. Added to this, any investigation on the phytoplankton flora has not been done in the Nakdong River. The aim of this study is to elucidate the characteristics of phytoplankton communities in the Nakdong River with the weirs built in it. Results: We observed a total of 103 taxa of Euglenophytes belonging to 8 genera from middle-lower part of the Nakdong River. The genus Trachelomonas was the most abundant group making up 40 taxa, followed Lepocinclis (20), Phacus (17), Strombomonas (14), Euglena (5), Colacium (3), Monomorphina (3) and Menoideum (1). Among them, a total of 22 taxa including Colacium (1), Lepocinclis (8), Phacus (4), Strombomonas (4) and Trachelomonas (5) were reported for the first time in Korea, and 86 taxa including those new to Korea were first recorded in the Nakdong River. All the species are illustrated with photomicrographs, and new to Korean species briefly discussed with regard to their taxonomy together with photomicrographs. Conclusions: The present study, a total of 22 taxa including one species of Colacium, 8 taxa of Lepocinclis, 4 taxa of Phacus, 4 taxa of Strombomonas and 5 taxa of Trachelomonas were reported for the first time in Korea, and 86 taxa including those new to Korea were first recorded in the Nakdong River.

  • Dinoflagellate species composition has changed around Jeju Island as well as in Korean waters due to global warming and climate changes. An investigation was conducted to monitor changes in planktonic dinoflagellates around Jeju Island from June 2006 to September 2009. A total of 86 species belonging to 14 families and 15 genera were identified, of which 34 species were newly recorded in Korean waters. Among the newly recorded species, >20 were confirmed as tropical species. Thus, the occurrence of such tropical dinoflagellates could be an indicator to monitor of environmental changes including global warming around Jeju Island and in Korean waters.

  • The pandalid shrimp Procletes levicarina (Bate, 1888) was newly collected from the western and southern waters of Jeju Island, Korea. This species is the only known member of the genus Procletes which belongs to the family Pandalidae. Morphological description and illustration with a color photograph of the species are given. With the addition of P. levicarina, the family Pandalidae in Korean waters consists of 10 species belonging to 5 genera.

  • The earwig Proreus simulans($St{\aa}l$, 1860) has been recently reported from Jeollanam-do in the far southern section of the Korean Peninsula. Natural photographs of this species were obtained from Gwangyang Province for the first time in 2013, with specimens being physically collected in light traps from Suncheon Province in 2018. The species is widely distributed throughout the Oriental region, where its main habitat is lowland paddy fields. The earwig belongs to family Chelisochidae, subfamily Chelisochinae, and genus Proreus, which are newly recognized in Korea. The diversity of the order Dermaptera is currently estimated to be 6 families, 14 genera, and 24 species in Korea.

  • Some hyromedusae were collected from Korean waters with Issacc-Kidd Midwater trawl net or by SCUBA diving during the period from May 2001 to Nov. 2005. They were identified into 14 species of 11 families in six orders. Of these, the following six species are new to Korean fauna: Olindias formosa (Goto, 1903) and Proboscidactyla stellata (Forbes, 1846) of the order Limnomedusae; Aglantha digitale ($M\ddot{u}ller$, 1776) and Rhopalonema velatum Gegenbaur, 1854 of the order Trachymedusae; Solmundella bitentaculata (Quoy and Gaimaud, 1833) and Aegina citrea Eschscholtz, 1829 of the order Narcomedusae. The order Narcomedusae and the families Rhopalonematidae and Aeginidae are first recorded in Korean waters. As a result of the present study, the Korean hydromedusae consist of 26 species of 19 families in six orders so far.
