Preparation, Characterization and Photoluminescence Properties of Ca1-xSrxS:Eu Red-emitting Phosphors for a White LED

  • A series of Ca1-xSrxS:Eu (x = 0.0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1.0) phosphors were synthesized by solid-state reactions. The Ca1-xSrxS:Eu phosphors have a strong absorption at 455 nm, which corresponds to the emission wavelength of a blue LED. The emission peak of Ca1-xSrxS:Eu is blue shifted from 655 to 618 nm with increasing Sr content. The characteristics of Ca1-xSrxS:Eu phosphors make them suitable for use as wavelengthtunable red-emitting phosphors for three-band white LEDs pumped by a blue LED. In support of this, we fabricated a three-band white LED by coating SrGa2S4:Eu and Ca0.6Sr0.4S:Eu phosphors onto a blue LED chip, and characterized its optical properties.

A Case Report of Congenital Hyperekplexia in Twin (쌍생아에서 발생한 선천성 Hyperekplexia 1례)

  • Hyperekplexia or startle disease is a hereditary neurological disorder characterized by an abnormally exaggerated startle response to tactile, auditory and visual stimuli, together with a global muscular hypertonia and hyperactive tendon reflexes. This disease is a rare, genetically determined disorder, with an autosomal dominant inheritance with variable expression, first described by Suhren, et al. We report two cases of familial hyperekplexia, who developed hypertonia and pathologic startle response to tactile stimulation in the immediate neonatal period. The infant showed a marked improvement of the startle response and muscular hypertonia with low-dose clobazam.

  • 부자의 보정계수를 결정하는 방법은 크게 다음과 같이 현행 방법과 WMO 제안 방법으로 구분할 수 있다. 현재 국내에서 적용하고 있는 방법으로 표면부자부터 4.0m부자까지 사용된 부자의 종류에 따라 사전에 정해진 보정계수를 적용한다. WMO에서 제안하고 있는 방법은 해당 하천의 수심과 사용된 부자 흘수(吃水)의 상대적 비로부터 산정되는 보정계수를 적용하는 방법이다. 본 연구는 국내 유량측정기술의 개선을 위한 선행연구로, '07~'08년의 국토해양부 부자 측정성과(86개 지점 788개 유량측정성과)를 현행 방법 및 WMO 제안 방법을 적용하여 산정된 유량을 비교 분석하였다. 분석 결과, WMO 방법을 이용하여 산정된 유량은 각 측정성과별로 현행 방법을 적용하여 산정한 유량 대비 -7.69~+7.20%의 차이를 보였으며, 평균 1.57% 작게 산정되었다. 각 수계별로 한강은 -5.90~+2.55% 범위에서 평균 -2.11%, 낙동강은 -7.69~+7.20% 범위에서 평균 -2.45%, 금강은 -7.39~+7.03% 범위에서 평균 -0.52%, 영산강은 -6.50~+2.58% 범위에서 평균 -1.59% 로 산정되었다. 또한 각 성과에 대해 각 지점의 주요 인자들과의 상관성을 검토한 결과, 산정된 유량의 차이는 지점의 수심에 매우 큰 상관성을 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 저수심에서는 WMO 방법이 상대적으로 크게 산정되었으며, 고수심에서는 현행 방법을 적용하여 산정한 유량이 상대적으로 크게 나타났다. 특히 약 8m 이상의 수심에서는 보다 큰 차이가 나타나는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • 본 논문에서는 백라이트로 사용되는 CCFL의 점등을 위한 인버터를 연구대상으로 하였다. CCFL의 고전압 점등을 위해 다층 longitudinal 모드구조의 압전세라믹을 이용하였다. CCFL의 점등은 공진특성을 이용하는 것이므로 기계적인 공진주파수와 스위칭 주파수가 거의 일치할 수 있도록 L-C공진회로를 설계하였다. 인버터의 토플로지는 플라이백 기법을 적용하였으며 이를 위해서 권선의 배치에 의해 손실을 고려한 고주파 트랜스포머를 설계하였다. 시뮬레이션 및 실험 결과를 통하여 이에 대한 타당성을 입증하였다. 이로부터 공진주파수 48[kHz], 점등전압 600[V] 및 점등전류 6[mA] 얻었으며, 적용된 CCFL 램프사양은 관직경 $2.2{\phi}$와 관길이 314[mm], 압전세라믹 $43{\times}5.5{\times}2.3[mm]$를 이용하였다.

Development of Air Force Winter Service Uniform Shirt Pattern and Automatic Pattern Drafting Program for MTM Production (MTM 생산을 위한 공군 동약정복 셔츠 패턴 제도법 및 자동 제도 프로그램 개발)

  • This study improves the fitness of Air Force winter service uniforms through the development of a shirt pattern drafting method and automatic pattern drafting program for MTM production. A calculation formula is formed through a correlation analysis and regression analysis using Size Korea 2004 3D measurement data after analyzing 4 kinds of existing shirt pattern drafting methods and 3 types of shirt patterns currently used for the Air Force service uniform. The results of this study are as follows: The developed pattern drafting method has 4 parts that use calculated dimensions: neck base width, front interscye, back interscye and scye depth. Other body measuring parts that have a high correlation with calculation parts are inserted into regression analysis as independent variables to create dimension calculation formulas. The result of the final study patterns were better than existing winter service uniforms in nearly all items for the appearance evaluation and motion adaptability evaluations. The method was converted into an automatic pattern drafting program using C++ after the completion of pattern drafting method development.

Comparison of the Characteristics in the Surface Mounted Permanent Magnet and Flux Concentrating Coaxial Magnetic Gears Having the Solid Cores

  • The coaxial magnetic gear with the flux concentrating structure is known that it has the torque performance advantage over the coaxial magnetic gear having surface mounted permanent magnet, thanks to the flux focusing effect. But, if the solid cores are used in the modulating pieces and rotor cores to consider the mechanical reliability and cost reduction, the operating torque of the flux concentrating coaxial magnetic gear can be significantly diminished because the iron losses at the solid cores affect the actual transmitted torque. Furthermore, the modulating pieces and rotor cores have different characteristics of the iron losses from one another, because the space harmonic components of the magnetic flux density, which cause the iron losses, are different. Thus, in this paper, we focused on the analysis of the characteristics of the space harmonic components of the magnetic flux density and resultant eddy current losses in the surface mounted PM and flux concentrating coaxial magnetic gears, when these coaxial magnetic gears have the solid cores at the modulating pieces and rotor cores. The characteristics of pull-out torque (static torque), operating torque (dynamic torque), and efficiency are also researched, and compared by the 3D finite element analysis (FEA) and experiment.

Scrambling Technology in MPEG Video Environment (MPEG비디오 부호화기 내의 scrambling 기술)

  • With the advance of multimedia technology, multimedia sharing among multiple devices has become the main issue. This allows users to expect the peer-to-peer distribution of unprotected and protected contents over public network. Inevitably, this situation has caused an incredible piracy activity and Web sites have begun to provide copyrighted A/V data for free. In order to, protect the contents from illegal attacks and distribution, digital right management (DRM) is required. In this paper, we present the minimal cost scrambling scheme for securing the copyrighted multimedia using the data encryption standard (DES) encryption technique. Experimental results indicate that the proposed scrambling techniques achieve a very good compromise between several desirable properties such as speed, security, and file size.

  • This work examined improving the activity of photocatalyts by novel metal doping for the degradation of volatile organic compounds, such as formaldehyde and acetone. The activity was determined with type of dopant novel metal and volatile organic compounds. The palladium-doped $TiO_2$ was found to be improved the decomposition of acetone. The photocatalytic degradation rate for acetone was increased with decreasing temperature to $45^{\circ}C$. The optmum temperature of photocatalytic degradation rate for formaldehyde was $75^{\circ}C$. The enhancement of reaction rate with novel metal were 1.0 wt.% of palladium for acetone, 1.0 wt.% of plaitnum for formaldehyde.

  • Characteristics of InAs/GaAs quantum dot (QD) ridge laser diodes (LDs) are investigated for high-power $1.3\;{\mu}m$ applications. For QD ridge LDs with a $5-{\mu}m$-wide stripe and a 1-mm-long cavity, the emission wavelength of 1284.1 nm, the single-uncoated-facet CW output power as high as 90 mW, the external efficiency of 0.31 W/A and the threshold current density of $800\;mA/cm^2$ are obtained. The linewidth enhancement factor ($\alpha$-factor) is successfully measured to be between 0.4 and 0.6, which are about four times as small values with respect to conventional quantum well structure. It is possible that this result significantly reduce the filamentation of far-field profiles resulting in better beam quality for high power operation.

Hepatoprotective Lignan Compound from Schizandrae Fructus on Tacrine-induced Cytotoxicity in Hep G2 Cells

  • In the course of search for hepatoprotective agents from oriental traditional medicines, one compound was isolated from the MeOH extract of the fruits of Schizandra chinensis, and its structure was determined as gomisin J(1). The evaluation for hepatoprotective activity of isolated compound 1 on drug-induced cytotoxicity was conducted, and compound 1 showed protective effect with an EC$_{50}$value of 86.0 ${\pm}$ 5.3 ${\mu}$M against tacrine-induced cytotoxicity in Hep G2 cells. One of the well-known hepatoprotective agents, silybin, used as a positive control, and the hepatoprotective effect of compound 1 is similar with that of silybin (EC$_{50}$ value = 90.5 ${\pm}$ 9.8 ${\mu}$M).
