  • The Latent Growth Modeling(LGM) is known as the typical analysis method of longitudinal data and it could be classified into unconditional model and conditional model. It is common to assume that the growth trajectory of unconditional model of LGM is linear. In the case of quasi-linear, the methodology for improving the model fitness using Sequential Pattern of Association Rule Mining is suggested. To do this, we divide longitudinal data into quintiles and extract periodic changes of the longitudinal data in each quintiles and make sequential pattern based on this periodic changes. To evaluate the effectiveness, the LGM module in SPSS AMOS was used and the dataset of the Youth Panel from 2001 to 2006 of Korea Employment Information Service. Our methodology was able to increase the fitness of the model compared to the simple linear growth trajectory.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze user behaviors of books in detail based on circulation data in an academic library. It analyzes circulation patterns of books for ten years from 2006 to 2015, which are surprisingly similar every year. Each pattern follows 'Loan books 20/50 rule' that 20% core collection occupies 50% of its circulation every year. This clarifies users' circulation patterns are highly consistent and very expectable. Also, using the cumulative distribution of book age, it defines the half-life of books and suggests the mathematical formula to measure it. Circulation patterns of the whole loan book and core collection for ten years are very different in terms of subjects, user groups, and divisions. This indicates that core collection plays a significant role in analyzing circulation statistics and usage patterns for the efficient collection development in the future.

  • This research attempts to calculate the vertical equity of National Health Insurance Contribution of locally provided policy holders by abilities to pay. Also, this longitudinal study examined the influence of abilities to pay and demographic characteristics on the health insurance premium. Using data from the Korea Welfare Panel Study, this study followed the self-employed households who continued to participate in the survey from 2011 to 2015. Kakwani's index of progressivity was measured as a measure of vertical equity and panel regression analysis was conducted by STATA program. The results of this research are as follows. First, from 2011 to 2015, the values of kakwani's index were negative according to composite income, which meant some levels of regressiveness of contribution. Secondly, panel regression analysis showed that the lowest household of composite income had a significantly negative effect on premiums, which also meant regressiveness. Based on the results, the author suggested political discussions on reorganizing the system of imposing the National Health Insurance contribution.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the mutual relationship between parenting stress and children's problem behaviors among those participating in dream start services. In order to verify the effect of parental and child effects on child's problem behavior and parenting stress based on repeated measures from the first grade of elementary school to the third grade of elementary school among children participating in dream start services, autoregressive cross-lagged modeling was applied. As a result, the stability coefficient showed that the two variables were significantly stable for 3 years. In other words, the measurement was maintained at a similar level with time. The causal relationship between parents 'parenting stress and child' s problem behavior was generally explained by the parental effect. In other words, parental stress is related to the child's problem behavior. These results show that the economic stress of poverty increases parents' parenting stress, which can negatively affect the adaptive development of children in the process of raising children.

  • This study aims to examine how children's life satisfaction is interrelated with parents' life satisfaction longitudinally. Autoregressive cross-lagged model was employed to analyze the interrelationship between children's and parents' life satisfaction. This study used 6 waves (Elementary school 4th year to Middle school 3rd year) from the Korean Children and Youth Panel Study (KCYPS). The sample size was 1,963 families with child and parent. Key findings are as follows: First, children's and parents' life satisfaction, respectively, was found to influence each other during the study period. Second, parents' life satisfaction were found to have positive and significant cross-lagged impacts on children's life satisfaction. Third, similarly, children's life satisfaction was positively related to parents' life satisfaction longitudinally. The findings suggest that children's and parents' life satisfaction are interrelated in an autoregressive cross-lagged model. This study concludes with implications for enhancing children's and parents' life satisfaction.

  • This study aims to investigate the interdependence of Korean middle and old-aged couples in the association between exercise and life satisfaction through grip strength trajectory. Data were drawn from the nationally representative Korea Longitudinal Study of Aging (KLoSA) collected from 2006 to 2016. The sample included couples over 45 years of age in the first wave and participated in all six waves of the survey (Ncouple=1,997). There were three steps for analyses: correlation, parallel latent growth curve model, tests of indirect effects of the mediation paths. Covariates included in the models were husbands and wives' characteristics (age, education, work status, chronic diseases, marital satisfaction, contact frequency with friends or neighbors) and couple's household income. Results showed husbands' and wives' life satisfaction and grip strength were interdependent upon each other. Also, exercise participation of both husbands and wives was associated with both husbands' and wives' life satisfaction via the initial level of grip strength of husbands. Moreover, exercise participation of only husbands was associated with wives' life satisfaction through the initial grip strength of husbands. These results suggest the aging processes of middle and old-aged couples need to be understood in the context of gender dynamics and couple interdependence.

  • The concentration phenomenon in physical space has taken place along with the proliferation of ICT in South Korea, especially the concentration in Gangnam_Gu district of plastic surgery clinics. In this study, we examine longitudinally whether the proliferation of ICT is related with the concentration in the physical space: focused plastic surgery clinics in Gangnam_Gu district. To do this, we extend the previous study(Cho and Choi, 2012). We examine the homogeneity between websites of plastic surgery clinics in Gangnam_Gu and those besides Gangnam_Gu plastic surgery's website. Multiple Discriminant Analysis (MDA) technique is mainly used for this analysis. The 401 sample websites in 5 years from 2006 to 2011 are mainly investigated. As a result, plastic surgery websites in Gangnam_Gu are not homogeneous than those of elsewhere with significance during 5 years consistently. Therefore, we can conclude that the expansion of ICT has an association with the spatial concentration of plastic surgery in Gangnam_Gu.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the longitudinal relationship between resilience and social support of school violence exposure types including school bullying, victimization, and dual experience. The study used data obtained from the third year (2012) of the Seoul Education Longitudinal Study of 1,137 elementary school students in grade 6 who reported experiencing school violence. The results of the autoregressive cross-lagged model are as follows. First, as a result of measuring the self-regression coefficients of resilience and social support of the youth exposed to school violence at 3 time points (2012, 2014, and 2016), it was found for all types of violence that resilience and social support at the previous time point showed a signigicant positive effect on the same variable at the next time point. Second, in the case of the cross-lagged effects of resilience and social support, the effect of previous social support on resilience at the next time point was statistically significant for the victimization group, but not for the bullying or dual experience groups. Third, considering the opposite path from resilience to social support, resilience at the previous time point had a significant influence on the social support at the next time point for both the bullying and victimization groups. This result is new and can be complementary to the cross-sectional studies so far using a longitudinal view. The results of this study suggest that the bullying and victimized students who are relatively more resilient are less likely to perceive social support than those who are not resilient. Finally, we discuss the longitudinal relationship between resilience and social support, the limitations of this study, and implications for future research.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze research trends on subjective well-being in the elderly. To this end, 49 academic papers (general characteristics, research subjects, number of researchers, research variables, and research methods) retrieved through RISS were classified according to criteria. One or two research papers have been steadily published starting with two in 1988, but a slight increase in 2009 and 2010, four each, and five in 2014, respectively. By sample size, 201 to 300 were the most frequent with 14 studies. Quantitative studies were the most common as a research method, but 2 qualitative studies and 2 longitudinal studies were identified through trend analysis. It was confirmed that there are many variables related to physical health such as leisure sports, physical activity, sports for all, dance sports, and mobility discomfort as research topics. The number of studies on the elderly should be increased, and the need for qualitative research to explore the life experiences and meanings of old age is suggested.

  • The purpose of this research is to grasp the influencing factors on the labor market entry of disabled women, and to suggest policy alternatives to support the labor market entry of them. This article utilized the survey data of the 3rd to the 7th Panel Survey of Employment for the Disabled in 2010-2014(by PSED), which is a longitudinal survey for the disabled in Korea. I analyzed the pattern changes of the labor market entry of them with the passage of years, and the influencing factors on that by the event history analysis. The major findings are as follows: First, according to the life table analysis involved in change of the labor market entry, 90% of them continued to remain the longest period of unemployment for four years and the labor market entry rate was only 10% of them. Second, the result of Cox regression analysis shows that public benefit recipient or not, the degree of disability and discrimination experience at the job market were factors to affect the labor market entry. With these results, this study suggested the practical alternatives to improve the labor market entry of disabled women.
