  • A GNSS receiver must perform signal acquisition to estimate the code phase and Doppler frequency of the incoming satellite signals, which are essential information for baseband signal processing. Modernized GNSS signals have different modulation schemes and long PRN code lengths from legacy signals, which makes it difficult to acquire the signals and increases the computational complexity and time. This paper proposes a novel FFT/Inverse-FFT with baseband resampling to resolve the aforementioned challenges. The suggested algorithm uses a single block only for the FFT and thereby requires less hardware resources than conventional structures such as Double Block Zero Padding (DBZP). Experimental results based on a MATLAB simulation show this algorithm can successfully acquire GPS L1C/A, GPS L2C, Galileo E1OS, and GPS L5.

  • This paper proposes new phase error compensation method of RVDT encoder in the FFT domain. Phase errors are measured with a small combination of compensation resistors and the changes of first order coefficients of FFT for each resistor are obtained. It is found that the coefficient change is inversely proportional to the inserted resistor. The proposed method takes less time and the size of the table is smaller than previous time domain approaches. In addition, the location of the compensation resistor can be found through axis transformation of the coefficients. Finally, the peak-to-peak phase error was improved to 0.57 which is two times better than previous one.

  • In this paper, FMCW type radar level transmitter using correlation analysis method is implemented for precise distance measurement of cargo tank. FMCW type radar level transmitter is the device for distance measurement which calculates the distance by analyzing the beat frequency, that is, the frequency difference between Tx and RX signal from radar antenna using Fast Fourier Transform(FFT), but compensated algorithm like Zoom FFT is needed for the improvement of the frequency precision because the frequency precision of FFT is limited depending on sampling frequency and the number of sampling data. In case of Zoom FFT, the number of sampling data and noisy signal are the main factor influencing the measurement accuracy of Zoom FFT like FFT. Therefore, in order to overcome the limited environment and achieve the precise measurement, correlation coefficient is used for the distance measurement and the errors of measurement are verified to be in the range of ${\pm}1mm$.

  • Based on this article, I have analyzed the OFDM system which applies three types of equalizer forms in the two-path channel of the microwave baseband. The Two-path channel of microwave baseband had been simulated through the Rummler channel. In the Two-path channel, the OFDM system which has three forms of equalizer has been analyzed and the result is, equalizer 1-tab has great improvement in efficiency compared with Pre-FFT 11-tab which has noise power ratio less than 18dB. On the contrary, if the symbol energy to the noise ratio is more than 18dB, the equalizer which applies Pre-FFT 11-tab has greater efficiency compared to the equalizer which applies 1-tab frequency. Last but not least, the OFDM system which applies Dual equalizer has better efficiency compared to the system which has 1-tab frequency and equalizer which applies Pre-FFT 11-tab.

  • OFDM is used for achieving a high-speed data transmission in mobile wireless communication systems. Conventionally, fast Fourier transform that is the main signal processing of OFDM is implemented using digital signal processing. The DSP FFT LSI requires large power consumption. Current-mode FFT LSI with analog signal processing is one of the best solutions for high speed and low power consumption. However, for the operation of current-mode FFT LSI that has the structure of parallel-input and parallel-output, current-mode serial-to-parallel and parallel-to-serial converter are indispensable. We propose a novel current-mode SPC and PSC and full chip simulation results agree with experimental data. The proposed current-mode SPC and PSC promise the wide application of the current-mode analog signal processing in the field of low power wireless communication LSI.

  • Sound source localization systems in service robot applications estimate the direction of a human voice. Time delay information obtained from a few separate microphones is widely used for the estimation of the sound direction. Correlation is computed in order to calculate the time delay between two signals. In addition, PHAT weighting function can be applied to significantly improve the accuracy of the estimation. However, FFT and IFFT operations in the PHAT weighting function occupy more than half of the area of the sound source localization system. Thus efficient FFT and IFFT designs are essential for the IP implementation of sound source localization system. In this paper, we propose an efficient FFT/IFFT design method based on the characteristics of human voice.

  • Background: The Friends and Family Test (FFT) developed by the UK National Health Service evaluates whether patients are satisfied with a service provided, where improvements are needed, and how likely patients are to recommend the intervention. Calculated from the FFT, the Net Promoter Score (NPS) creates a recommendation metric for treatment. The primary aim of this prospective study is to evaluate NPS for arthroscopic subacromial decompression (ASD) and rotator cuff repair (RCR). Secondary aims are to postoperatively evaluate 1-year changes in patients' Oxford Shoulder Scores (OSSs) in terms of the proportion of patients satisfied with their surgery and correlation with FFT. Methods: During a 2-year period, all patients undergoing ASD or RCR completed questionnaires prospectively. Collected preoperatively and postoperatively at 1 year. Results: NPSs were 31 for ASD (n=32) and 52 for RCR (n=39). OSSs increased by 4.3 and 6.9 for ASD and RCR, respectively (P<0.001). Overall, 75% of ASD and 77% of RCR patients were either "satisfied" or "very satisfied," respectively, with procedure outcomes. Scores from FFT had a positive correlation with improvement in OSS and satisfaction scores among patients undergoing arthroscopic shoulder surgeries (P<0.001). Conclusions: The current study shows positive NPS outcomes in patients with ASD and RCR. Scores from FFT correlate well with both satisfaction and OSS among patients. NPS can be an adjunct to traditional patient-reported outcome measures to provide global evaluation of patient experiences to aid in determining the clinical value of common procedures in shoulder orthopaedics. Level of evidence: III.

  • This paper proposes a novel concept of adjusting the hardware size in a multi-carrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) receiver in real time as per the channel parameters such as delay spread, signal-to-noise ratio, transmission rate, and Doppler frequency. The fast Fourier transform (FFT) or inverse FFT (IFFT) size in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM)/MC-CDMA transceivers varies from 1024 points to 16 points. Two low-power reconfigurable radix-4 256-point FFT processor architectures are proposed that can also be dynamically configured as 64-point and 16-point as per the channel parameters to prove the concept. By tailoring the clock of the higher FFT stages for longer FFTs and switching to shorter FFTs from longer FFTs, significant power saving is achieved. In addition, two 256 sub-carrier MC-CDMA receiver architectures are proposed which can also be configured for 64 sub-carriers in real time to prove the feasibility of the concept over the whole receiver.

  • In this paper, for implementing a real-time software GNSS receiver we propose the highly efficient and fast algorithms such as partial down-conversion, phase rotator, composite I&Q accumulation, Virtual DCO technique, and parallel acquisition using FFT. When the proposed algorithms are used, more 30 tracking channels with 3 tracking arm(early-prompt-late) is operated real-time on Intel 2.8GHz personal computer. Also, the partial down-conversion reduces the FFT size, for parallel acquisition, to 1/8 of conventional FFT-size and the program size includes map is not exceed 1Mbyte. Finally, the proposed real-time software GNSS receiver using the proposed algorithms provides the navigation solution with below 10 meter rms error.

  • In this paper, the new technique combing power control with Pre-FFT beamforming is proposed for MIMO(multi-input multi-output)-OFDM(orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) system. As combining the proposed power control with beamforming, we can iteratively control the transmittingpower and update the weight of beamformer together. And then, the beam is formed toward the desired direction and SNIR of each subcarrier is converged to target SNIR. Therefore, the performance of MIMO-OFDM system is very improved. BER performance improvement of the proposed approach is investigated through computer simulation by combining power allocation algorithm with MIMO-OFDM system using Pre-FFT beamformer
