  • As part of the DIGIT key program, we observed GSS30-IRS1, a Class I object located in Ophiuchus (d=125 pc), with Herschel-PACS. More than 70 lines were detected in 50-200 micron band including CO, OH, H2O, and [OI]. All lines, except for [OI], were detected only at the central spaxel of $9.4^{{\prime}{\prime}}{\times}9.4^{{\prime}{\prime}}$ while the [OI] emission is extended along the NE-SW direction. One interesting feature in GSS30-IRS1 is that the continuum is extended beyond PSF, unlike line emission. It suggests that the external heating is important in GSS30-IRS1. For detail analysis of line fluxes, we apply the non-LTE LVG model, RADEX as well as simple rotational diagrams. We also use the Monte Carlo radiative transfer package, RADMC-3D to understand the heating mechanism of dust grains around GSS30-IRS1. We will discuss about heating and cooling processes associated with GSS30-IRS1.

  • A 8-year-old, intact male Yorkshire Terrier Dog was presented with dark-black mass on the third digits of the left forelimb. Three months earlier, the dog had experienced an episode of digit amputation because of growing mass with ulcerated nodule of the same area. According to the owner, the recurrence of the mass appeared suddenly and was growing rapidly from the amputation site. The mass was more infiltrative than the first one and measured 1.5 cm in diameter. The clinical signs were anorexia, coughing, respiratory distress, exercise intolerance, cardiac murmurs, and cyanosis on the oral mucous membrane. Plain radiographic findings revealed multiple, various-sized(0.5 to 7 cm in diameter), slightly firm-nodules on the thoracic region but digital bone lysis was not seen. These lesions on the thoracic cavity were considered likely to be metastatic from the digit and the dog was naturally died after 3 weeks from the time. Histologically, the digital mass confirmed the diagnosis of metastatic malignant melanoma that was composed of round melanocytic neoplastic, anaplastic, and melanin-containing cells. This report records clinical information and gross and light microscopic features of metastatic malignant melanoma in a dog.

  • This paper presents design of SD adder and PD adder on Multi-Valued Logic. For implementing of Multi-valued logic circuits we use Current-mode CMOS circuits and also use Voltage-mode CMOS circuits partially. The proposed arithmetic circuits was estimated by SPICE simulation. At the SD(Signed-Digit) number presentation applying Multi-Valued logic the carry propagation is always limited to one position to the left this number presentation allows fast parallel operation. The addition method that add M operands using PD( positive digit number) is effective not only for the realization of the high-speed compact arithmetic circuit, but also for the reduction of the interconnection in the VLSI processor. therefor, if we use PD number representation, the high speed processor can be implementation.

  • This study analyzed a variety of different kinds of usage patterns of four-digit personal identification numbers(PINs) based on the data collected from students attending at A-university in 2011. According to the analysis, the 4 digit PINs '1234' was being used most frequently which is similar to the findings of the study by the Daniel Amitay research. In addition, almost 50 percent of the students were using the four-digit PINs closely related to their personal information, and more than 10 percent of them were using it only by the reason of easiness to remember or convenience to use. Number '0' was the most frequently used, and girl students used it more than boys did. According to the result of analysis of four-digit PINs, it was found that number '1' was the most frequently used in the first and the third position. It was also found that number '2' and number '4' were the most frequently used in the second and the forth position respectively. Among students who had used number 3 in third position, around 63.6 percent of those students were using number 4 in the forth position in their PINs which showed highest frequency from analysis of double-digits connected together in each position. The analysis of PINs were represented by the polygonal (type) graph with that X-axis showed from first to forth position and Y-axis showed number had been used at each position. Among many polygonal graphs, the form showed an N-type which was called in type 1 took the first place by 35 percent.

  • Mathematical thinking is a core element in mathematics education and classroom learning. This paper wish to investigate how primary four (grade 4) students develop their mathematical thinking through working on tasks in multiplication where greatest products of multiplication are required. The tasks include the format of many digit times one digit, 2 digits times 2 digits up to 3 digits times 3 digits. It is found that the process of mathematical thinking of students depends on their own representation in obtaining the product. And the solution is obtained through a pattern/analogy and "pattern plus analogy" process. This specific learning process provides data for understanding structure and mapping in problem solving. The result shows that analogy allows successful extension of solution structure in the tasks.

  • Telephone directories ille still being used as the sampling frame in almost all fixed-line telephone surveys in Korea, causing potentially serious coverage error. RDD (random digit dialing) sampling is an obvious alternative to solve the problem. The aim of this paper is twofold: 1) proposal of RDD methodology suitable to the telephone system of Korea and 2) the identification of socio-demographic and socio-psychological differences between listed-number and unlisted-number respondents. Major findings of RDD telephone survey conducted experimental]y are as follows. 1) Population coverage by telephone directories is 60% or less. 2) Unlisted-number households have statistically larger income compared to listed-number households. 3) Unlisted-number households have smaller family size compared to listed-number households. 4) Unlisted-number respondents are more sensitive about confidentiality, leaks, 5) Unlisted-number respondents are more liberal compared to unlisted-number respondents. These facts suggest that directory-based telephone surveys tend to be biased in socio-economic aspects.

  • We observed several young stellar objects (YSOs) using the Photodetector Array Camera and Spectrometer (PACS) aboard the Herschel Space Observatory. CO, OH, $H_2O$, [O I], and [C II] lines were detected. CO rotational diagrams show two distinct gas components of ~400 K and ~1000 K with a break around 1500 K of the CO excitation energy, indicative of two different heating mechanisms: PDR and outflow shocks. OH and $H_2O$ line fluxes can be fitted with temperatures different from what are derived from the CO rotational diagrams. In order to understand the physical environment of line formation, the sources were modeled with the 3-D radiative transfer code, LIME. We present the results of observations, simple analysis, and modeling of Herschel-PACS spectra of the YSOs.

  • Background Hand strength deficit following digital replantation is usually attributed to the mechanical deficiency of the replanted digit. Zone 1 replantation, however, should not be associated with any mechanical deficit, as the joint and tendon are intact. We evaluate shortterm motor functions in patients who have undergone single-digit zone 1 replantation. Methods A single-institution retrospective review was performed for all patients who underwent zone 1 replantation. Hand and pinch strengths were evaluated using standard dynamometers. Each set of measurements was pooled according to follow-up periods (within 1 month, 1 to 2 months, 2 to 3 months, and after 3 months). The uninjured hand was used as reference for measurements. Results The review identified 53 patients who had undergone zone 1 replantation and presented for follow-up visits. Compared to the uninjured hand, dynamometer measurements revealed significantly less strength for the hand with replanted digit at one month. The relative mean grip, pulp, and key pinch strength were 31%, 46%, and 48% of the uninjured hand. These three strength measurements gradually increased, with relative strength measurements of 59%, 70%, and 78% for 4-month follow up. Conclusions Despite the lack of joint or tendon injury, strength of the injured hand was significantly lower than that of the uninjured hand during the 4 months following replantation. Improved rehabilitation strategies are needed to diminish the short-term negative impact that an isolated zone 1 replantation has on the overall hand strength.

  • In this paper, a low-power 32-point IMDCT structure is proposed for MP3. Through re-odering of IMDCT matrices, we propose the systolic structure operating with 16, 8, 4, 2, and 1 cycle, respectively. To reduce power consumption, multiplication of each sub blocks are implemented by add and shift operation with CSD(Canrmic sigled digit) form coefficients. To reduce, furthermore, the number of adders, we utilize the common sub-expression sharing techniques. With these techniques, the relative power consumption of the proposed structure is reduced by 58.4% comparison to the conventional structure using only 2's complement form coefficient. Validity of the proposed structure is proved through Verilog-HDL coding.

  • Purpose: Hexadactyly without thumb is a rare congenital anomaly of the hand where six triphalangeal digits are symmetrically distributed without thumb. Contrary to mirror hands, triphalangeal six digits are symmetrically distributed on each side at the midline with well - differentiated carpal bones, extensor tendons, one ulnar and one radius. The authors developed a new surgical technique based on a three - dimensional concept to correct the hexadactyly and applied to 2 cases of hexadactyly with good functional and aesthetic results. Here we document the surgical technique and its result. Methods: A 16 month old male patient visited our clinic with chief complaints of bilateral hexadactyly deformity. On physical examination most radial first and second digits showed no opposition and adduction motion on both side hands. Radiography showed 6 triphalangeal digits with normal development of carpal, radial and ulnar bone. Right side abnormality was corrected by removal of most radial side extra - digit, rotation and migration of 2nd ray to thumb position and creation of 1st web by transposing a mid - palm based rectangular palmar flap as in Snow & Littler procedure which has been being applied for correction of 1st web syndactyly in cleft hand deformity. Seven months later, left side abnormality was also corrected with the same procedure. Results: Postoperative appearances of the both hands were satisfactory. Flexion, extension, opposition and grasping were possible with the pollicized 2nd ray. Pinching power was 3.0 kg 15 months after surgery and 2.5 kg 22 months after in right hand respectively. Conclusion: In correction of hexadactyly deformity, satisfactory aesthetic and relevant functional results can be expected with authors' newly developed technique: removal of most radial digit, rotation and migration of 2nd digit to thumb position as well as creation of the 1st web space by transposition of mid - palm based rectangular flap.
