  • Recently, interest in renewable energy is rising in rural areas in order to reduce heating and air-conditioning costs which are directly connected to farmhouse income. Thus, in this paper, I study renewable energy supporting projects in rural area: I analyze distribution of the Agriculture & Fishery Energy use Efficiency Project and 1 Million the Green Homes program by using project performance data and the data of Korea Energy Handbook. The results of my analysis of the two programs show that, while annual average increase of the 1 million Green homes prgram is 15.6%, the distribution rate of heating and air-conditioning facilities using geothermal heating and cooling system of the project has decreased by average 37% every year.

  • It is necessary to evaluate the greenhouse gases (GHGs) reduction policy by central and regional governments to set up the suitable GHG emissions measures. Quantitative, qualitative and synthetic methods have been adopted by previous researches to estimate GHG reduction policy. However, these methods mostly focused on the results of the reduction policy, rather than understanding and fixing the integrated structures of GHG emissions. In this research, System Dynamics(SD) was applied to 1 million green homes program, self-carfree-day system and carbon point program. The results showed that SD analyses could be appliable for the estimation of GHG reduction policy by developing the feedback loops and dynamic simulation model. SD can be consider as a supplementary tool to estimate the GHG reduction policies through the recognition of the structure in complex real system.

  • In an efforts to encourage renewable energy deployment, the government has initiated so called 1 million green homes program but the accumulated installation capacity of small wind turbine has been about 70kW. It can be explained in several ways such that current subsidy program does not meet public expectations, economic feasibility of wind energy is in doubt or acoustic emission is significant etc. The author investigated annual energy production of Skystream 3.7 wind turbine using measured power curve and wind resource data. The measured power curve of the small wind turbine was obtained through power performance tests at Wol-Ryoung test site. AEP(Annual Energy Production) and CF(Capacity Factor) were evaluated at selected locations with the measured power curve.
