Magnetic Field Analysis of 1 MVA HTS Transformer Windings

  • In a HTS transformer, the perpendicular component of magnetic flux density ($B_r$) applied to HTS tapes of pancake windings becomes larger than that of solenoid winding, thereby decreasing the critical current in the HTS tapes. This paper introduces several methods to reduce $B_r$ applied to the HTS tapes in the transformer with double pancake windings by changing winding arrangements and the relative permeability of flux diverters. We have conducted a winding design for a single-phase 1MVA 22.9kV/6.6kV HTS transformer. We observed a change of $B_r$ due to a variation of gap-length between the high voltage windings and the low voltage windings, reciprocal arrangement and an increase of the number of the high voltage pancake. We also observed a change of Br on the HTS tapes due to variation of the relative permeability of flux diverters placed between the high voltage winding and the low voltage winding. Finally, we have designed a 1MVA 22.9kV/6.6kV HTS transformer winding using suggested methods and calculated transformer parameters by the 3D finite element method.

  • In this paper, the parallel operation of the IGBT and power stack for easy capacity enlargement series in the medium power capacity inverter system of the 660V voltage class is described. The parallel operation of the IGBT and power stack for 1.5MVA medium power inverter system's design is applied. The results of the parallel operation are described in this paper. The designed stack capacity for parallel operation is 800kVA class. For 1.5MVA inverter system, the 800kVA stack is applied with 2 parallel configurations. The 800kVA stack is designed with 3 parallel configurations of the IGBT Module. In this paper, the feasibility for easy capacity enlargement series in the medium power inverter by applying the parallel operation of the IGBT and power stack is verified. The experimental results show the good characteristics for the parallel operation of the IGBT and power stack.

  • Multilevel power conversion technology has received increasing attention recently for high power applications. The converters with the technology are suitable for high voltage and high power applications due to their ability to synthesize waveforms with better harmonic spectrum and apply for the high voltage equipment with a limited voltage rating of device. In the family of multilevel inverters, the topologies based on cascaded H-bridges are particularly attractive because of their modularity and simplicity of control. This paper presents multilevel inverter with cascaded H-bridge for large-power motor drives. The main features of this drive 1) reduce harmonic injection 2) can generate near-sinusoidal voltages, 3) have almost no common-mode voltage; 4) are low dv/dt at output voltage; 5)do not generate significant over-voltage on motor terminal; The topology of the developed product is presented and the feasibility study of the inverter on 3300v 1MVA 7-level H-bridge type was tarried out with experiments.

1MVA 고온 초전도 변압기 개념 설계 및 3차원 전자장 해석 (Conceptual Design and 3-D Electromagnetic Analysis of 1MVA HTS Transformer)

  • This paper presents conceptual design and 3-D electromagnetic analysis of IMVA transformer with BSCCO-2223 High Tc Superconducting (HTS) tapes. The rated voltages of each sides of the transformer are 22.9 kV and 6.6 kV, and double pancake windings were adopted. High voltage and Low voltage sides were composed of several double pancake windings. Four HTS tapes were wound in parallel for the windings of low voltage side and were transposed in order to distribute the currents equally in each conductor The transformer core was designed as a shell type core made of laminated silicon steel plates and the core is separated with the windings by a cryostat with Fiberglass Reinforced Plastics(FRP). A sub-cooling system using L$N_2$ were designed to maintain the coolant temperature 65K. Finally perpendicular components of magnetic field applied to tapes were calculated 0.247 in the rated operation using 3-D analysis. A real 1MVA HTS transformer will be manufactured in near future based on the design parameters presented in this paper.

Analysis of the Relationship between MHC-DRB1 Gene Polymorphism and Hydatidosis in Kazakh Sheep

  • The objective of this work was to analyze the relationship between ovine major histocompatibility complex (MHC) DRB1 gene polymorphism and genetic resistance to hydatidosis in Kazakh sheep. The Ovar (ovine MHC) class II DRB1 second exon was amplified by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) from DNA samples of 702 Kazakh sheep, including 302 sheep with hydatidosis and 400 health controls. PCR products were characterized by the restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) technique using five restriction enzymes, i.e., MvaI, HaeIII, SacI, SacII and Hin1I, yielding 14 alleles and 28 genotypes. Comparing the frequency of genotypes in hydatidosis sheep with the control group, it was found that the genotype frequencies of MvaIbc, Hin1Iab, SacIIab, HaeIIIde, HaeIIIdf and HaeIIIdd in control sheep were significantly (p<0.01) higher than in hydatidosis sheep, indicating that a significant correlation existed between these genotypes and resistance to hydatidosis. Genotype frequencies of MvaIbb, SacIIaa, Hin1Ibb and HaeIIIef in sheep with hydatidosis were extremely significantly (p<0.01) higher than in the control group, and the genotype frequency of HaeIIIab was significantly higher (p<0.05), indicating that a marked correlation existed between these genotypes and susceptibility to hydatidosis. By way of analyzing haplotype with these resistant genotypes, the hydatidosis resistant haplotype MvaIbc-SacIIab-Hin1Iab of Kazakh sheep was screened out, and then verified through artificial hydatid infection in sheep. The results indicated that the infection rate of sheep with the resistant haplotype of hydatidosis was significantly lower (p<0.01) than without this resistant haplotype. It showed that the genic haplotype MvaIbc-SacIIab-Hin1Iab of Ovar-DRB1 exon 2 was the resistant haplotype of hydatidosis in Kazakh sheep.

  • 본 논문에서는 고압 대용량 전동기 구동용 멀티레벨 인버터의 종류 및 특징을 간략히 살펴보고, 특히 입출력 전력품질이 우수하고 전압별 시리즈화가 용이한 H-브릿지 멀티레벨 인버터의 구조적 특징 및 장점을 기술하였다. 연구 개발된 3,300V lMVA 용량의 Cascaded H-브릿지 멀티레벨 인버터의 구체적인 전력회로 구조 및 설계방법, 제어기 구성 그리고 PWM 기법을 제시하였다. 또한, 실용량의 시험을 통해 H-브릿지 멀티레벨 인버터는 출력 전압 Step이 여러 단계이고 dv/dt가 적으며 입력단 THD를 크게 낮출 수 있어 성능 면에서도 여타 방식보다 우수함을 입증하였다. 또한 생산적인 측면에서도 저압 소자를 사용하여 설계하므로 기존의 생산/시험 기술과 설비를 이용할 수 있어 매우 경제적이며 Power Cell 단위 결합 구조이므로 신뢰성 측면이나 보수/유지 측면에서도 유리하다는 결론을 얻었다.

OLTC를 고려한 고온 초전도 변압기의 설계 (Design of an HTS Transformer with OLTC)

  • HTS transformers which have been developed until now had only fundamental structures. Among the auxiliary functions of conventional transformers, voltage regulating is the most important one. For the voltage regulation, conventional transformers are equipped with on load tap changers (OLTCS). In this paper, we describe the possibility of the HTS transformer with OLTC. For the case study, we designed a single phase 33 MVA HTS transformer with OLTC. It is one of three individual HTS transformers which composes a 3 phase, 100 MVA transformer. It is expected to substitute for a 3 phase, 60 MVA conventional transformer in Korea. The parameters of an HTS transformer are varied due to the gap length between primary and secondary windings. The length was decided for the transformer to have the impedance of 12 %. Its size was limited to the one of the conventional transformer. The characteristics of the HTS transformer were analyzed in both case of having OLTC and not.

Insulation Test for the 22.9 kV Class HTS Power Transmission Cable

  • HTS power transmission cable is expected to transport large electric power with a compact size. We are developing a 3-core, 22.9 kV, 50 MVA class HTS power cable, and each core consists of a conductor and shield wound with Bi-2223 tapes, electrical insulation with laminated polypropylene paper (LPP) impregnated with liquid nitrogen. This paper describes the design and experimental results of the model cable for the 22.9 kV, 50 MVA class HTS power transmission cable. The model cable was used the SUS tapes instead of HTS tapes because of testing the electrical characteristics only. The model cable was 1.3 m long and electrical insulation thickness was 4.5 mm. The model cable was evaluated the partial discharge (PD), AC and Impulse withstand voltage in liquid nitrogen. The AC and Impulse withstands voltage and PD inception stress was satisfied with the standard of Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) in the test results. The 3-core 22.9 kV, 50 MVA class HTS power cable has been designed and manufactured based on these experimental results.

  • The availability of high power IGBT has led to development of controllable reactive power and harmonics compensation source for use in power transmission system. The paper describes the fundmental operating principles and several application examples. The control technique of reactive power and harmonics compensation for Distribution STATCON is presented, and the computer simulation results are shown to show the effectiveness of tile proposed control technique.

  • 발전설비의 대형화로 인하여 소내소비 전력량이 점점 증가하고 있는 추세이며 대용량의 화력발전소라 하더라도 기저부하보다는 부하조정의 역할이 강해져 정격속도로 운전하던 팬, 펌프등을 필요 부하에 따라 회전수를 제어하여 전력절감을 꾀하여야 할 필요가 있다[1]. 이에 따라 생산기술개발 과제로 개발한 대용량 GTO 인버터 시스템을 서 인천복합화력발전소의 3상 6600V 1500KW 용량인 전동기 구동 해수펌프에 적용하기 위한 기술적 검토 내용과 계산된 전력 절감량을 제시하였다. 적용 시스템으로는 개발된 3상 660V 1MVA 단위 인버터를 병렬 운전시켜 2MVA의 용량으로 하였으며 인버터의 입출력 단에 변압기를 설치하여 강압 및 승압 시켜 사용하였다.[2]
