Preparation and Electrochemical Characteristics of CNFs/DAAQ Electrode for Energy Storage

  • A new type of supercapacitor was constructed by using carbon nanofibers (CNFs) and DAAQ (l,5-diaminoanthraquinone) oligomer. DAAQ was deposited on the carbon nanofibers by chemical polymerization with ammonium peroxodisulfate (($NH_4)_2S_2O_8$) as oxidant in the 0.1 M $H_2SO_4$. Polymerization reaction was carried out with constant sonication. From the analysis, it is clear that surface of carbon nanofibers was quite uniformly coated with DAAQ. The performance characteristics of the supercapacitors have been evaluated using Cyclic Voltammetry. CNFs/DAAQ based composite electrode showed relatively good electrochemical behaviors in acidic electrolyte system. CNFs/DAAQ composite electrode showed relatively good capacitance (7 Ah/kg) compared to conventional capacitors in the range of $-0.4\~0.4$.

  • A new type electric double layer capacitor (EDLC) was constructed by using carbon nanofibers (CNFs) and DAAQ(1,5-diaminoanthraquinone) electrode. Carbonaceous materials are found in variety forms such as graphite, diamond, carbon fibers etc. While all the carbon nanofibers include impurities such as amorphous carbon, nanoparticles, catalytic metals and incompletely grown carbons. We have eliminated of Ni particles and some carbonaceous particles in nitric acid. Nitric acid treated CNFs could be covered with very thin DAAQ oligomer from the results of CV and TG analyses and SEM images. A crystalline supramolecular oligomer of 1,5-diaminoanthraquinone(DAAQ) was successfully prepared as a thin film by electrochemical oxidation from an acidic non-aqueous medium. DAAQ oligomer film exhibited a specific capacity as 45-50 Ah/kg in 4M $H_2SO_4$. Its electrochemical characteristics were investigated by cyclic voltammetry. And compared with different electrolyte of aqueous type. During ultrasonic irradiation CNFs was to disperse in 0.1M $H_2SO_4$. As a result, CNFs coated by DAAQ composite electrode showed relatively good electrochemical behaviors.

Anthraquinone을 포함하는 신규 Phthaloperinone 색소의 합성과 특성에 대한 연구 (Synthesis and Properties of New Phthaloperinone Dyes containing Anthraquinone Moiety)

  • We have synthesized five novel phthaloperinone dyes via a condensation reaction to be applied as yellow colorants for liquid crystal display(LCD) color filters. The reaction between 1,8-naphthalic anhydride(1a), 4-chloro-1,8-naphthalic anhydride(1b), 4-bromo-1,8-naphthalic anhydride(1c), 3-nitro-1,8-naphthalic anhydride(1d), 4-nitro-1,8-naphthalic anhydride(1e) and 1,2-diaminoanthraquinone(2) proceeded readily giving a product in 72-88% yields. The synthesized dyes were characterized by UV-Vis, mass spectrometry and elemental analysis. The spectral properties and thermal stability of the dyes were examined. The dyes absorb at around 400-450nm. All five dyes showed satisfactory thermal stability: the dyes retain 99-100% of its original weight at $300^{\circ}C$, 98-100% at $350^{\circ}C$, 92-98% at $400^{\circ}C$, and 84-92% at $450^{\circ}C$. We have quantitatively evaluated the reaction mechanism and reactivity of dye molecules by means of Pariser-Parr-Pople Molecular Orbital Method(PPP-MO).

  • Supercapacitors are promising devices for delivering high power density. Digital communications, electric vehicles and other devices that require electrical energy at high power levels in relatively short pulses have prompted considerable research on supercapacitors. In recent years, solid electrolytes have been investigated for supercapacitors. Solid electrolytes are advantageous over liquid electrolytes in respect of easy handling and reliability without electrolyte leakage. In this preliminary study, an electrochemical supercapacitor in all solid configuration has been fabricated using CNF-DAAQ and poly-vinylidenefluoride(PVdF). A new type of Supercapacitor was constructed by using carbon nanofibers(CNFs) and DAAQ(l,5-diaminoanthraquinone) monomer. DAAQ was deposited on the carbon nanofibers by chemical polymerization with $(NH_4)_2S_2O_8$ as oxidant in the 0.1M $H_2SO_4$. Dried SPEEK powder was mixed with N-methyl pyrrolidone to make 10 wt.% solution in an ultrasonic bath, the slurry was cast over a glass substrate heated to $70^{\circ}C$ for solvent evaporation. And then we used solid electrolyte of SPEEK. The unit cell consist of DAAQ-CNF/electrolyte/Pt. From the analysis, it is clear that surface of carbon nanofibers was quite uniformly coated with DAAQ. The performance characteristics of the supercapacitors have been evaluated using Cyclic Voltammetry.

나노복합산화물 전극의 제조 및 수퍼커패시터로써의 응용 (Preparation of nano composite metal-oxide electrode and its application for superrcapacitor)

  • Electrochemical capacitors are becoming attractive energy storage systems particularly for applications involving high power requirements such as hybrid systems consisting of batteries and electrochemical capacitors for electric vehicle propulsion. Both of amorphous cobalt oxide and manganese dioxide were prepared by sol-gel process reported in our previous work. Nanostructured supramolecular oligomer of 1,5-diaminoanthraquinone(DAAQ) coated metal oxides were successfully prepared by electrochemical oxidation from an acidic non-aqueous medium. We established process parameters of the technique for the formation of nano-structured materials. Furthermore, improved the capacitive properties of the nano structured metal oxide electrodes using controlled solution chemistry. $CoO_2$ and $MnO_2$-based composite electrode showed relatively good electrochemical behaviors in acidic electrolyte system with respect to specific capacity and scan rate dependency.

신규 Phthaloperinone 색소의 합성과 특성에 대한 연구 (Synthesis and Properties of New Phthaloperinone Dyes)

  • New series of phthaloperinone dyes were synthesized by the condensation reaction between tetrachloro-phthalic anhydride, 2,3-naphthalene dicarboxylic anhydride and o-phenylenediamine, 1,8-diaminonaphthalene, 1,2-diaminoanthraquinone. These dyes absorb at around 370-490nm. It was found that introduction of naphthalene and anthraquinone moiety on the perinone system produces a large bathochromic shift of 100nm. The synthesized dye 7 containing anthraquinone moiety in perinone chromophoric system exhibited superior heat stability and bright color as yellow chromophore. New dye 7 have been investigated in terms of interacting with volatile organic compound(VOC) $EtNH_2$. The sensing behaviour of the dye 7 toward $EtNH_2$ was studied by UV-vis absorption spectroscopy. Sensing mechanism of dye 7 to $EtNH_2$ was supported by theoretical calculations based on DFT method.

디아미노안트라퀴논계 분산염료/모노클로로트리진형 반응염료에 의한 폴리에스테르/면 혼방 직물의 날염 (Printing of Polyester and Cotton Blends using Diaminoanthraquinone Disperse Dye and Monochlorotriazinyl Reactive Dye Mixtures)

  • To study the printing behaviors of Polyester and cotton(P/C) fabrics printed with disperse and reactive dyes, the effects of alkalis on the fixation of reactive dyes and the alkali-stability of disperse dyes in various methods of fixation were examined. The anthraquinone disperse dyes which have diamino derivatives as substituents without hydroxy group, such as C.I. Disperse Violet 1(D.V.1), C.I. Disperse Violet 28(D.V.28) and C.I.Disperse Blue 60(D.B.60) showed good results of fixation without regard to the concentration of NaHCO$_3$. In case of high temperature steaming(HTS) and unsaturated steaming(US)/HTS, D.V. 1 was alkali-stable and effective for P/C printing. A good result was obtained with D.V.1 and C.I.Reactive Orange 13(R.O.13) paste of 4% $K_{2}CO_{3}$. It was found that the unfixed D.V.28 bearing chloro group can hinder the fixation of monochlorotriaxinyl reactive dyes, and D.B.60 made little stain on 100% cotton. In thermosol(Tm), the dye uptake of D.V.1 was not decreased so much, but those of D.V.28 and D.B.60 were greatly decreased.

전기화학캐패시터용 MWNT 및 MWNT/DAAQ 나노 복합체의 제조 및 전기화학적 거동 (Preparation and Electrochemical Behavior of MWNT and MWNT/DAAQ Nanocomposite Materials for Electrochemical Capacitor)

  • 화학적 중합방법을 이용하여 HWNT/DAAQ를 합성하여 전기화학적 캐패시터용 전극 소재로서 전기화학적 특성을 연구하였다. XRD pattern 결과에서 MWNT/DAAQ의 표면에 DAAQ가 oligomer 상태로 존재하는 것을 확인 하였으며, SEM image를 통해 표면을 관찰하였고, TCA를 통해 열적안정성을 확인하였다. 활성탄과 MWNT/DAAQ에 기초한 전극의 용량은 1M의 $H_2SO_4$ 전해질 상에서 97F/g의 비방전용량을 확인되었으며, 또한 HWNT/DAAQ 복합 전극은 우수한 전기화학적 거동을 보이는 것을 관찰하였다.
